Design and Implementation of the News Video Retrieval System based on Automatic Indexing (자동 인덱싱에 기반한 뉴스 비디오 검색 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • 현재 사용하는 순차적인 뉴스 비디오 검색 방법은 많은 시간을 소비한다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 , 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 뉴스 비디오를 내용(뉴스 사건)단위별로 검색할수 있는 자동 인덱스 모듈과 원격 검색 브라우저 모듈을 제시한다. 인덱싱 모듈은 기본적으로 이미지 프로세싱을 기반으로 하여 뉴스 앵커를 검출하고 뉴스 아이템을 분할한다. 인덱싱 구성요소는 뉴스 비디오 내용에 대한 대표영상(뉴스아이콘)과 부가적인 정보를 포함하는 뉴스 자막으로 구성하였다. 검색 브라우저 모듈은 추출된 인덱싱 요소를 아이콘하여 뉴스사건 단위로 내용을 검색할수 있도록 설계하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 매일 발생되는 뉴스를 자동 인덱싱하여 사용자에게 뉴스서비스의 효율적인 적용이 기대된다.

  • P2P VoD 스트리밍에서 비디오 서비스를 제공받는 사용자의 시청 패턴은 비디오의 시작부터 끝까지 순차시청 모델에 기초하고 있다. 최근 비디오 재생지점의 임의 변경을 허용하는 VCR 기능과 같은 사용자 interactivity 지원과 재생지점 변경 시 지연을 최소화 하는 연구가 활발하게 진행되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 VCR 동작 시 오버레이 상에서 필요로 하는 컨텐츠를 소유한 피어를 신속하게 찾고 비디오 구간별 인기도에 근거하여 prefetching 을 지원하는 시스템을 제안한다. 비디오의 균등한 구간에서의 인기도를 측정하여 인기구간과 비인기구간에 대해서 동적으로 앵커 피어들을 링크드 리스트로 오버레이를 구성한다.

Location Information Reliability-Based Precision Locating System Using NLOS Condition Estimation (NLOS 상태 추정을 이용한 위치 정보 신뢰성 기반의 정밀 위치 측정 시스템)

  • Recently, mobile devices were increased and there was a sharp rise in demand. To exploit the location information of each device, many researcher was studying locating systems. The favorite locating or positioning systems were a GPS using satellites and a RTLS using wireless communication between devices. If some obstacle existed nearby the target device, The system have difference of performance. The obstacles near targets were caused signal disconnection and reflection because of NLOS condition. As the result, the NLOS condition degrade the locating performance. In this paper, we propose a locating system which is cooperated two systems using information reliability estimates from LOS/NLOS condition. We developed proposed system. In addition, we performed fields test and simulation tests at various environment for performance evaluation. As the result, the test showed 97% success rate to estimate NLOS condition. Furthermore, the simulation result of our locating system was increased to 89% compared with a single system.

Storage System Performance Enhancement Using Duplicated Data Management Scheme (중복 데이터 관리 기법을 통한 저장 시스템 성능 개선)

  • Traditional storage server suffers from duplicated data blocks which cause an waste of storage space and network bandwidth. To address this problem, various de-duplication mechanisms are proposed. Especially, lots of works are limited to backup server that exploits Contents-Defined Chunking (CDC). In backup server, duplicated blocks can be easily traced by using Anchor, therefore CDC scheme is widely used for backup server. In this paper, we propose a new de-duplication mechanism for improving a storage system. We focus on efficient algorithm for supporting general purpose de-duplication server including backup server, P2P server, and FTP server. The key idea is to adapt stride scheme on traditional fixed block duplication checking mechanism. Experimental result shows that the proposed mechanism can minimize computation time for detecting duplicated region of blocks and efficiently manage storage systems.

Decentralized Identity Based Digital Certificate System for Prevention of Infectious Diseases (감염병 예방을 위한 분산ID 기반 디지털 증명서 시스템)

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has led many countries around the world to introduce and employ a digital certificate system to prevent infectious diseases, however, there are difficulties in using the compatible digital certificate between countries in that the international standards of the system have not been developed. Accordingly, we propose an improved system, comparing two methods of presenting a certificate, existing QR code-based and a short-range wireless communication-based certificates. The proposed system is a digital certificate system against the spread of infectious disease by storing verification information of the certificate using decentralized identity-based technology on the blockchain. Blockchain-based trust anchor improves security by solving the problem of forgery and alteration of certificates and guaranteeing the identity of certificate issuers and presenters. This system is also expected to enhance usability providing concurrent verification of a number of certificates(vaccination certificates, recovery certificates, test results, identity certificates, etc.) in a single certificate presentation.

Survey of Sedimentary Environment and Sediment at the West-Northern Site of Chagwi-do nearby Jeju Island (제주도 차귀도 서북쪽 해역 내 퇴적 환경 및 퇴적물 조사)

  • The sedimentary environment and sediment were surveyed at the West-Northern site of Chagwi-do nearby Jeju Island for the design of the embedded suction anchor system of 10 MW-class floating wave-offshore wind hybrid power generation system. According to the classification scheme of Chough et al.[2002], the echo type of the seismic profiles using the chirp III was classified. As a results, the center and west-northern area of survey site were proved to be type I-3 where subbottom layer with thickness 5~15 m exists under the flat seafloor. On the other hands, the east-southern area were regarded to be type I-1, I-2 and III-1 where seafloor reflection is much stronger than type I-3. Also, the physical tests (unit weight, moisture content, grain size, liquid limit, specific gravity) were performed with samples taken from 8 fixed locations. It is found that the sand (SP), the sand blended with silt (SM) and the mixture of SP-SM are distributed uniformly on the survey area.

  • Application of the soil nailing method is continuously extending in maintaining stable excavations and slopes. However, ground anchor support system occasionally may not be used because of space limitations in urban excavation sites nearby the existing structures. In this case, soil nailing system with relatively short length of nails could be efficiently adopted as an alternative method. The general soil nailing support system, however, may result in excessive deformations particularly in an excavation zone of the existing weak subsoils. Pretensioning the soil nails then could play important roles to reduce deformations mainly in an upper part of the nailed-soil excavation system as well as to improve local stability. In this study, a newly modified soil nailing technology named as the PSN (Pretension Soil Nailing) is developed to reduce both facing displacements and ground surface settlements in top-down excavation process as well as to increase the global stability. Up to now, the PSN system has been investigated mainly focusing on an establishment of the design procedure. In the present study, laboratory model tests are carried out to investigate the failure mechanism and behavior characteristics of the PSN system. Various results of model tests are also analyzed to provide a fundamental basis for the efficient design.

Robust Motorbike License Plate Detection and Recognition using Image Warping based on YOLOv2 (YOLOv2 기반의 영상워핑을 이용한 강인한 오토바이 번호판 검출 및 인식)

  • Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) is a technology required for many applications such as Intelligent Transportation Systems and Video Surveillance Systems. Most of the studies have studied were about the detection and recognition of license plates on cars, and there is very little about detecting and recognizing license plates on motorbikes. In the case of a car, the license plate is located at the front or rear center of the vehicle and is a straight or slightly sloped license plate. Also, the background of the license plate is mainly monochromatic, and license plate detection and recognition process is less complicated. However since the motorbike is parked by using a kickstand, it is inclined at various angles when parked, so the process of recognizing characters on the motorbike license plate is more complicated. In this paper, we have developed a 2-stage YOLOv2 algorithm to detect the area of a license plate after detection of a motorbike area in order to improve the recognition accuracy of license plate for motorbike data set parked at various angles. In order to increase the detection rate, the size and number of the anchor boxes were adjusted according to the characteristics of the motorbike and license plate. Image warping algorithms were applied after detecting tilted license plates. As a result of simulating the license plate character recognition process, the proposed method had the recognition rate of license plate of 80.23% compared to the recognition rate of the conventional method(YOLOv2 without image warping) of 47.74%. Therefore, the proposed method can increase the recognition of tilted motorbike license plate character by using the adjustment of anchor boxes and the image warping which fit the motorbike license plate.

Bearing Reinforcing Effect of Concrete Block with a Round End according to the Application of Aluminum Stiffener (알루미늄 보강재 적용에 따른 원형 단부 콘크리트 블록의 지압 보강 효과)

  • In this study, a bearing test was performed and analytically evaluated to evaluate the bearing performance according to the application of the aluminum stiffener in round-end concrete. In the bearing strength test, the change in bearing performance due to the aluminum stiffener using the aluminum form for manufacturing concrete with round-end, and the steel anchor bolts for member movement and assembly was confirmed. The FE analysis model was identically configured to the experimental conditions, and the result was compared with the experiment. Also, the crack patterns and stress behavior were confirmed. In addition, the effect of strength change of the aluminum stiffener on the round-end concrete was also evaluated analytically. The bearing strength of the round-end concrete increased by about 20% due to the aluminum stiffener, and it was confirmed that the steel anchor bolt did not affect the bearing strength. The maximum load and crack patterns shown as a result of FE analysis were similar to those of the experiment. As a result of FE analysis according to the strength change of the aluminum stiffener, the maximum load change according to the increase and decrease of the strength of the aluminum stiffener by 10% and 20% was evaluated to have no significant effect at a maximum of about 4% compared to before the strength change.

A Design of Mooring Line for the Buoy-Enabled Underwater Surveillance System (부이형 수중감시 시스템에서 계류라인의 구조 설계)

  • The buoy-enabled underwater surveillance system is a device that is installed in a particular sea area and operated for a certain period of tine and moved to another sea area after recovery. In this paper, a mooring method which is applied for a buoy-enabled underwater surveillance system was selected to maintain installation and enure stable operation. Also, the structure of the mooring line was designed. Two-point mooring method was selected considering interference with the communication cable of array-assembly. The composite structure of buoy chain, nylon rope, and anchor chain is designed as the basic component of mooring line. For the verification of design, a numerical simulation and wave tank experiment were performed. Their results were confirmed similarity in test condition. Finally, the mooring lines were designed for the environment of the sea trial location. The mooring line produced by the final design confirmed the stability above the significant wave height considered in the design on the sea trial.
