Wireless devices can communicate between each other without existing infrastructure in mobile Ad-hod network. Ad hoc networks can be used under difficult conditions, where it is difficult to construct infrastructures, such as shadowing areas, disaster areas, war area, and so on. In order to support to considerable and various wireless services, more spectrum resources are needed. However, efficient utilization of the frequency resource is difficult because of spectrum scarcity and the conventional frequency regulation. Ad-hoc networks employing cognitive radio (CR) system that guarantee high spectrum utilization provide effective way to increase the network capacity. In this paper, we simulate and compare the performance of conventional single and cooperative spectrum sensing with CR system using ad-hoc networks. And we demonstrate performance improvement by analyzing the system performance.
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) allow mobile nodes to communicate among themselves via wireless multiple hops without the help of the wired infrastructure. In the MANET, it is required not only a route setup mechanism that makes nodes not within each other's transmission range communicate but also mechanism in order for a node to auto-configure a unique address. In this paper, we propose an address auto-configuration mechanism when MANET is connected to the Internet via several Internet Gateways and all gateways advertise the same network prefix. By using the proposed mechanism, once a node configures an Internet topologically correct and globally unique IP address, then the node can utilize the configured address even though the node moves within the MANET. Through the simulations, we analyze the performance of our proposed mechanism and, from the simulation results, we show that out proposed mechanism outperforms the existing mechanism.

In this paper, we present a cluster-based routing scheme for efficiently delivering data to group mobile users by extracting and clustering mobile user group simply from beacon message information in wireless ad-hoc networks. First, we propose an online-clustering mechanism that uses a local neighbor table on each node by recursively transmitting to neighbor nodes, and forms a group table where a set of listed nodes are classified as group members, without incurring much overhead. A node that appears the most frequently from neighbor tables throughout the network is selected as the cluster-head node, serving as a data gateway for the intra-cluster. Second, we design an inter-cluster routing that delivers data from stationary data sources to the selected cluster-head node, and a intra-cluster routing to deliver from the cluster-head node to users. Simulation results based on ns-2 in the ad-hoc networks consisting of 518 stationary nodes and 20 mobile nodes show that our proposed clustering mechanism achieves high clustering accuracy of 96 % on average. Regarding routing performance, our cluster-based routing scheme outperforms a naive one-to-one routing scheme without any clustering by reducing routing cost up to 1/20. Also, our intra-cluster routing utilizing a selected cluster-head node reduces routing cost in half as opposed to a counterpart of the intra-cluster routing through a randomly-selected internal group member.

During the routing process between nodes on the CR(Cognitive Radio) network conducting for efficient use of limited frequency resources, spectrum handover process due to the appearance of the PU occupies most of the routing latency, and also decreases the reliability of the path. In this paper, a cooperative routing protocol in a multi-channel environment is proposed. The source node broadcasts a message with available channel lists and probability of PU appearance during its route guidance. The intermediate nodes re-transmit the message, received from the source node, and update and maintain the information, status table of the path. The destination node determines the optimal path and sends a reply message to the selected path after it receives the messages from the intermediate nodes. The average probability of the PU appearance and the average time of the PU appearance are updated while transferring data. During data transmission the channel with the lowest probability of appearance of the PU is selected dynamically and if a PU appears on the current channel partial repairment is performed. It is examined that reliability of the selected path considerably is improved and the routing cost is reduced significantly compared to traditional routing methods.

The development of wireless communication systems has resulted in the availability of several access technologies at any geographic area, such as 3G networks, wireless local area networks (WLANs) and wireless broadband networks. The development of these technologies is provided for users who have experienced mobile network environments which are slow or fast-movement environment and change distance between the AP(Access Point). This paper describes network performance issues in various environmental changes. Also, Fuzzy logic is applied to evaluate the performance in vehicle networks around users' environmental factors to focusing on the minimizing of transfer time and costs. First, WLAN and 3G networks fixed distance between AP, Second, WLAN and 3G networks random distance between APs, finally above two environmental with vehicle Ad hoc networks is analyzed. These V2I and V2V environmental condition are assumed. Results which based on Fuzzy logic suggest an optimal performance in vehicle network environments according to vehicle speed and distance between APs. Proposed algorithm shows 21% and 13% improvement of networks performance in V2I and V2V environment.

This paper suggests a new geocasting protocol which is used to transfer the geographic packets to the specific region in MANET. Geocasting protocol is basically different from the conventional multicasting protocol that needs group addition and maintenance. A geocasting protocol using the mobile node's position information is the new area of multicasting protocols. The existing geocasting protocols have the following problems; it may be impossible to transfer data to some mobile hosts even if there are alternate routes and they have low adaptability and efficiency when the number of mobile hosts increases. The proposed CBG (Cluster-Based Geocasting) uses the proactive routing strategy and clustering technique with mobile host's location information. The CBG achieves high successful data transmission ratio and low data delivery cost to mobile hosts at specific region.

In the Cluster-Based Routing Protocol (CBRP) a cluster header in each cluster should be elected. The cluster headers consume energy much more than other nodes because they manage and operate all of mobile nodes in their cluster. The traditional CBRP elects a cluster header without considering the remaining electric energy of each node. So, there exists problems that the cluster header has short average lifetime, and another cluster header should be elected again frequently. In this paper, we propose the improved protocol which prolongs the lifetime of the cluster header and enhances the stability of the path. In order to achieve this, when a cluster header is elected in a cluster, the remaining electric energies of all the nodes are compared with one another, and the node with the highest energy is elected as the cluster header.

As a special type of Wireless Ad Hoc Networks, Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) have become the comer stone of research issues. Due to the limited operational environment of WMNs, an efficient connected dominating set (CDS) construction scheme is an important concern since it has been found extremely useful in broadcasting, routing and virtual backbone construction. In this paper, we propose a distributed Bandwidth-Interference aware CDS construction scheme to improve the network performance via two parameters such as node's number of neighbor and link bandwidth. Our CDS construction scheme selects the node that has more neighbors and enough bandwidth to support more end-devices in order to enhance overall network throughput and reliability. We confirm through simulations and show that our scheme constructs the CDS with the small subset of DS and the link that has better bandwidth.

As the topology frequently varies, more cluster reconstructing is needed and also management overheads increase in the wireless ad hoc/sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a multi-hop clustering algorithm for wireless sensor network topology management using dynamic pre-clusterhead scheme to solve cluster reconstruction and load balancing problems. The proposed scheme uses weight map that is composed with power level and mobility, to choose pre-clusterhead and construct multi-hop cluster. A clusterhead has a weight map and threshold to hand over functions of clusterhead to pre-clusterhead. As a result of simulation, our algorithm can reduce overheads and provide more load balancing well. Moreover, our scheme can maintain the proper number of clusters and cluster members regardless of topology changes.

In this paper we propose MA-CBRP, mesh adaptive algorithm for wireless mesh networks. MA-CBRP is a hybrid algorithm based on ad-hoc CBRP protocol. In MA-CBRP, the mesh router periodically sends the ANN message as like Hello-message in CBRP. ANN message allows to all clients periodically store a route towards the mesh-router and renewal information in their routing cache. While CBRP periodically reply Hello-message, MA-CBRP does not reply to achieve less overhead. After receiving ANN message, mesh client send JOIN message to mesh router when the route towards mesh router changed. at the same time Register the entry to mesh router, it can achieve to reduce overhead of control the route and shorten the time to find route. consequently, MA-CBRP shows 7% reduced overhead and shortened time to find route than CBRP with regardless of clients number.
