A Comparative study on Dynamic & Static elastic modulus of cement mortar specimens (시멘트 모르타르 재료의 동탄성계수와 정탄성계수 비교 연구)

  • This study was conducted to examine the differences between dynamic and static elastic constants by use of some laboratory tests of cement mortar specimens which have different water/cement mixing ratios. Specific gravity measurement, ultrasonic velocity estimating and uniaxial compression test were adopted to acquire the dynamic and static elastic constants. Digital data acquisition and processing enhanced the accuracy of estimating the velocities of specimens drastically, Also, the method using the gradient of propagation delay time in according to increment of specimen length more enhanced the accuracy than the method using the only one specimen length over total propagation time. The correlation between density and the P and S wave velocity of specimens shows reliable positive relation and the correlation between density and the strength of uniaxial compression has the similar relationship. The dynamic Young's modulus $(E_D)$ is alway greater than the static Young's modulus $(E_S)$ and there is increasing tendency of the ratio $(E_D/E_S)$ according to the increase of density or strength of the specimens. On the other hand, there is no typical relationship between dynamic Poisson's ratio $({\nu}_D)$ and static Poisson's ratio $({\nu}_S)$ and just the ratio of ${\nu}_D/{\nu}_S$ ranges front 69 to 122 %.

Velocity profile measurement of supersonic boundary layer over a flat plate using the PIV technique (PIV 기법을 이용한 초음속 평판 경계층의 속도 분포 측정)

  • Velocity profiles of laminar, transition and turbulent boundary layers were investigated by using Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) measurements on the flat plate at Mach 2.96. The Schlieren visualization and PIV measurements are also used to confirm whether the oblique shock wave generated from the leading edge affects the flow field over the flat plate. The laminar velocity profile measured from the experiment was well matched with the compressible Blasius solution. The velocity profile of the transition boundary layer was well correlated with the theoretical turbulent velocity profile from near the wall and the transition began from Re = $1.41{\times}106$. For the turbulent boundary layer, considering compressibility effects, the Van Driest-transformed velocity satisfies the incompressible log-law. It is found that the log region is extended farther in the wall-normal direction compared to the log region in incompressible boundary layer.

  • The objective of the present research is to evaluate the wave propagation velocity and attenuation characteristics of kaolin clay specimens using ultrasonic testing. Test specimens with known initial micro-fabric were prepared using a two-stage slurry consolidation technique. For a known state of stress conditions, initial void ratio, and micro-fabric, a series of experiments were conducted to evaluate the longitudinal wave propagation velocity and associated damping behavior. The effects of major variables involved in ultrasonic testing of cohesive soil were considered in this study. Ultrasonic velocity was not correlated to the microfabric structure under the given consolidated pressure whereas ultrasonic attenuation was affected by the microstructural properties of the specimen.

Comparison of Seismic Velocity and Rock Mass Rating from in situ Measurement (현장 실험을 통한 암반 탄성파 속도와 암반평가 인자 비교)

  • In this study, the relationship between in situ seismic wave velocities and RMR (rock mass rating) was investigated in a test bed for the examination of the basis of rock classification (RMR) based on seismic wave velocity. The seismic wave velocity showed a monotonous increase with depth. It was also found that there was no systematic correlation between the seismic wave velocity (Vp) and other parameters (RQD, joint spacing, UCS, rock core Vp, and RMR) collected at the same depth of the same borehole. However, correlative relation was observed among RMR, RQD, and joint spacing. On the other hand, when all the data in the borehole (three holes) are examined without considering the depth, Vp still shows no correlation with RMR parameters (e.g., correlative coefficient for uniaxial compressive strength and joint spacing are 0.039 and 0.091, respectively), but Vp shows weak correlative relation with RMR and RQD (correlative coefficient for RQD and RMR are 0.193 and 0.211, respectively). Thus, it is found that it is difficult to deduce physical properties of rock mass directly from seismic wave velocities, but the seismic wave velocity can be used as a tool to approximate rock mass properties because of weaker correlation between Vp and RMR with RQD. In addition, the velocity value of for soft and moderate rocks suggested by widely used construction standards is slower than that of the observed velocity, implying that the standards need to be examined and revised.

  • Recently, an earthquake-resistant has become essential to the large-scale structures at Gyeonggi and Gyeongsangnam province in Korea, but it is generally compared the measured data with foreign references because of the lack of the research data. It will be presented the characteristics of suitable dynamic elastic modulus in Korean geology, which characteristics are characterized the seismic wave velocities($V_p,\;V_s$) and correlation with dynamic elastic modulus($E_d,\;G_d\;K_d$) by each rock type of Korean granite, because it is very different between the values of foreign references and Korean geological characteristics.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상의 불법적인 복사를 방지하기 위해 사용되는 워터마킹을 내장한 JPEG 압축용 DCT의 VHDL 모델을 제시한다. 워터마킹 방법은 사람의 시각 시스템을 이용하여 주파수 영역에서 영상의 시각적인 특성에 적응하는 워터마크를 내장한다. 영상 압축시에 주파수 영역으로 변환해주는 DCT와 함께 화질저하에 대한감소와 공격에 강한 water marking을 구현함으로서 손실 압축에서도 방지 기능을 유지하면서 시스템의 효율적인 구성을 얻을 수 있다. 구현된 DCT의 VHDL 모델을 사용한 시뮬레이션 결과 고주파 성분이 많은 복잡한 영상과 저주파 성분이 많은 단순한 영상에 적용하여 워터마크가 시각적으로 보이지 않고 JPEG 손실압축과 잡음에도 견고함을 가지며, 기능을 추가하여도 기존에 비해 면적을 적게 차지하여 빠른 속도를 얻을 수 있어, 소형 시스템에 솔루션에 적용이 적합하다.

Evaluation of the Influence of the Method of Sample Preparation on the Shearing Behavior of Sands using Elastic Waves (탄성파를 통한 시료성형방법에 따른 모래 전단거동특성 평가)

  • For economic and technical reasons, it is difficult to obtain high quality undisturbed cohesionless samples, hence most researchers rely on preparing remolded and reconstituted representative samples of sandy soils. In this study, moist tamping, air pluviation, and dry deposition methods were applied to make remolded samples at similar relative densities. A series of isotropically consolidated drained tests were conducted with accompanied by measured elastic wave velocities in order to evaluate a difference between sample preparation methods and relative densities. For the elastic wave velocity measurements, piezoelectric elements were installed on the top and bottom cap of the triaxial device. The results showed that soil behavior relies on sample preparation methods, and that the trend of shear wave velocity was the same with volumetric strain behavior.

  • The purpose of this study is to characterize damage propagation in granite which exists in South Korea. Coarse, medium and fine-grained granite specimens were sampled respectively In order to perform this study, elastic wave velocity test and permeability test were carried out to estimate the physical specificities of specimens before and after damage. Cellulose acetate film duplication method was used to select only cracks from cross section and to make these visible. Using dark-field illumination, approach photographing technique was used to get more distinct photographs of cracks from acetate peel. Computer programs named Photoshop were used to describe cracks. After damage, coarse and medium-grained granite had lower elastic wane velocity, higher permeability, more cracks and more distinct shear fractures than fine-grained granite.

  • 램제트는 다른 여러 추진시스템에 비하여 획기적으로 증가된 사거리를 가지므로 가용범위의 확대는 물론, 목표물 타격 시 높은 명중률과 낮은 격추율을 가지는 효과적인 추진 시스템이다. 램제트 엔진을 장착한 미사일로는 프랑스의 Griffon, ASMP, 미국의 Bomarc, Talos, 영국의 Bloodhound, Sea dart, 소련의 SA4, SA6 등을 비롯하여 많은 종류가 개발되어 실전 배치되었다. 근래 들어 램제트는 군사전략과 전술적인 목적 이외에도 민간용으로도 그 실용성이 강조되고 있어 그 중요성은 날로 더할 것으로 예측된다. 램제트는 일반적인 공기흡입식 엔진과는 달리 엔진 내부에 기계적으로 구동되는 부분이 없이 충격파를 통과하면서 공기의 압력이 높아지는 현상인 램압축 현상을 이용하여 공기를 압축하게 되므로 엔진의 구조가 간단하고, 상대적으로 높은 비추력과 추력/중량비를 가진다. 램제트는 정지 상태에서는 작동되지 않으며 사용 가능한 최소의 압력비를 줄 수 있는 비행 마하수에 도달해야 램제트가 작동하게 된다. 따라서 이러한 비행속도를 줄 수 있는 별도의 추진장치가 필요하게 되는데 이와 같은 보조 추진장치로 부스터를 사용한다. 부스터가 엔진의 내부에 장착된 램제트를 일제형 램제트 (IRR: integral Rocket Ramjet)라 부르며, 현대의 전략미사일과 민간용 초음속 항공기의 엔진에 도입되어 활발한 연구가 진행 중이다. 램압력을 이용하여 압축하므로 램제트의 설계시 설계점 비행 속도에서 전압력 손실이 최소가 되도록 설계되어야 하며, 이를 실험이나 수치해석을 통해 확인하여야 한다.
