Structural Diagnosis in Time Domain on Damage Size (손상크기에 따른 시간영역에서의 구조물 진단)

  • This paper provides the experimental verification of a non-destructive time domain approach to examine structural damage. Time histories of the vibration response of structure were used to identify the presence of damage. Damage in a structure cause changes in the physical coefficients of mass density, elastic modulus and damping coefficient. This paper examines the use of beam like structures with PVDF sensor and PZT actuator to perform identification of those physical parameters, and hence to detect the damage. Experimental results are presented from tests on cantilevered composite beams damaged at different location and with damage of different dimensions. It is demonstrated that the method can sense the presence of damage, and characterize the damage to a satisfactory precision.

  • 기존의 연직 배수공법은 통수능의 저하, 막힘현상(clogging) 등으로 인하여 연약지반의 압밀을 지연시키는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이 연구에서는 고분자 압전소자인 PVDF(polyvinylidene fluoride)를 연직배수공법에 적용하여 연직배수공법의 기존 문제점을 극복하고 연약지반의 간극수를 빠르게 소산시킴으로서 압밀을 촉진 시킬 수 있을 것이라 판단되어 이에 따른 실내 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 PVDF를 적용한 경우에서 그렇지 않은 경우보다 간극수의 배출량이 증가하여 PVDF의 적용으로 배수재의 성능이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다.

  • 액상실리콘으로 이루어진 초고압전력케이블용 프리몰드 접속재의 반도전-절연체 계면접합체를 다양한 제조조건과 조합별로 제조하여 계면접착력에 대한 영향을 검토하였다. 후가교적용 시 계면접착력이 강화되며 grade조합에 따른 특성차이가 존재하였다. 하지만 고온 장시간의 후가교 조건에서는 계면간의 화학적 결합력의 저하로 인해 오히려 접착력이 낮아지기도 하였다. 절연 RTV와의 계면접착성은 S-1재료가, 절연 LSR의 경우에는 S-3 재료가 가장 우수하였으며 도전안정성 측면에서도 S-3 재료가 상대적으로 유리하였다. 매입형 전극체를 제조하여 절연파괴거동을 연구한 결과 계면접착성과의 직접적인 상관관계는 크지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

Vibration Suppression of Hull Structure Using MFC Actuators (MFC 작동기를 이용한 Hull 구조물의 진동 저감)

  • Performance evaluation of advanced piezoelectric composite actuator is conducted with its application of structural vibration control. Characteristics of MFC(macro fiber composite) actuator are investigated by comparing traditional piezoceramic patch actuator. Finite element modeling is used to obtain equations of motion and boundary effects of smart hull structure with MFC actuator. Dynamic characteristics of the smart hull structure are studied through modal analysis and experimental investigation. LQG control algorithm is employed to investigate active damping of hull structure. It is observed that vibration of hull structure is suppressed effectively by the MFC actuators.

  • This paper presents design and construct of flat type step-down piezoelectric transformer for the application to AC-adapters. This piezoelectric transformer operated in resonance vibration mode. In this paper, Finite element method(FEM) was used for analysis piezoelectric transformers. Vibration mode and electric field of piezoelectric transformer at resonance frequency were simulated. Using this simulation, we manufactured flat type piezoelecric transformer and measured its output characteristics. As results, output power was linearly increased by increasing input power at resonance frequency. And it was found that the transformer exhibited an output power of 11.4[W] at 60[V] input voltage. From these results, we expect that this piezoelecric transformer can be applied to AC adapters.

  • RAINBOW(Reduced And Internally Biased Oxide Wafers) are a new class of high-displacement, piezoelectric actuator produced by selectively removing oxygen from one surface of ceramic using a high-temperature chemical reduction process. In this paper, RAINBOW composition of 0.4Pb$(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.6Pb(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3$ were prepared. Its dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated in the vicinity of MPB. The strain - electric field characteristics of RAINBOW actuator were significantly improved comparison with the conventional bulk actuator.

  • This paper present a new sort of multilayer piezoelectric ceramic transformer for AC-adapter. This piezoelectric transformer operates in the second longitudinal vibration mode. The output voltage of the multilayer piezoelectric transformer was simulated using ANSYS, that is one of the FEM analysis program. As results, the minimum displacement was occurred at the two paints where one is the middle of input and the other is middle of output side in second thickness extensional vibration mode.   • Polyvinylidene di-fluoride (PVDF) film sensor appeared to be practically useful for the structural health monitoring of composite materials and structures. PVDF film sensors were either attached to or embedded in the graphite/epoxy composite (CFRP) samples to detect the fatigue damage at the bondline of single-lap joints or the tensile failure of unidirectional laminates. PVDF sensors were sensitive enough to detect and determine the crack front in linear location since composites usually produce very energetic acoustic emission (AE). PVDF sensors are extremely cost-effective, as flexible as other plastic films, in low profile as thin as a few tens of microns, and have relatively wide-band response, all of which characteristics are readily utilized for the structural health monitoring of composite structures. Signals due to fatigue damage showed a characteristics of mode II (shear) type failure whereas those from fiber breakage at DEN notches showed that of mode I (tensile) type fracture.

  • This paper presents the vibration control of a glass-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite beam with a distributed PVDF sensor and piezo-ceramic achlator. The three types of different controllen which are PID, H$\infty$ , and p-synthesis ontrollcr are employed to achieve vibration suppression in the transient vibration of composite beam. In the H$\infty$ , controller design, 1st and 2nd natural frequencies are considered in the modeling, because robust control theory which has robustness to struchred uncertainty is adopled Lo suppress the vibration. If the controller designed by H$\infty$ , theory does not satisfy control performance, it is improved by $\mu$ -synthesis method with D-K iteration so that the$\mu$-contoller based on the structured singular value satisfies the nominal performance and robust performance Simulations and experiments were carried out with the designed controllers m order to demonstrate the suppression efficiency of each controller.
