The Effects of Drag Reduction by Flow Control Grooves using CFD (CFD를 이용한 유동제어 띠에 의한 저항감소 효과 조사)

  • Faced with global agenda of greenhouse abatement program including regulations and $CO_2$ emission trading scheme, shipping companies are enforced to a high level of efficiency in fuel consumption. Accordingly shipbuilding companies worldwide are required to develop fuel-efficient ships which otherwise traditionally consume a great amount of fossil fuels. In this dissertation, relevant to the improvement of fuel efficiency for commercial ships, design methodology through the numerical simulations are intensively described. This work consists of derivation of effective hydrodynamic design practice based on the application of longitudinal grooves to effectively improve the pressure distribution around ship hull. The primary objective of the present study is to improve ship resistance performance using longitudinal grooves which originate from long strips on the abdomen of humpback whale. Several groove shapes have been extensively investigated and the proposed shape efficiently controlled the variation of pressure distributions acting on the hull surface.

Study on Pressure Drop Optimization in Flow Channel with Two Diameters by Using Constructal Theory (형상법칙을 이용한 트리구조의 압력강하 최적화 연구)

  • An analytical study on the flow resistance of tree-shaped channel-flow architectures was carried out based on the principle of the constructal law; the evolutionary increase in the access to currents that flow through the channels with improvements in the flow configurations were studied in a square domain using two diameters. Two types of tree-shaped configurations were optimized. The minimized global flow resistance decreased steadily as the system size $N^2$ increased. From the two channel configurations, the one that resulted in better pressure drop was selected. Further, it was shown that the system performance can be enhanced by adopting the second tree-shaped configurations when the system size is greater than $18^2$.

  • In this study, the flow analysis due to the car body configuration of air breather was carried out. As the resistance force whose flow affects car body has been studied, it is published that the electricity can be decreased. When the inner pressure of air breather is evaluated, there is the study of efficiency in order to raise the flow rate of inner body. At a total of five models, it is shown that the air resistance and pressure happen differently and the air pressure of side flow is changed. This study result was analyzed by using the analysis program of ANSYS, a study model was modelled using the CATIA V5 modelling program. It was investigated that the air flow rate was distributed uniformly as the curved surface of air breather configuration increases. It is thought as the most effective design method to design the air breather by considering the effect on the air resistance and flow. Also, through the design of the vehicle's airbrid configuration, the design of the product can incorporate a aesthetic sense into the design.

  • We have studied changes of coercivity $(H_c)$, exchange anisotropy field $(H_{ex})$ and MR ration in glass/Ta/NiFeI/CoI(t)/Cu/CoII(3/4 t)/NiFeII/FeMn spin valve structures by changing Ar pressure and thicknesses of Co layers using DC, RF sputtering methods. We obtained minimum coercivity of 2.8 Oe at 4 mTorr of Ar pressure, exchange anisotropy field of 50.0 Oe at 6 mTorr and 5.3 % of MR ratio at 10 mTorr. Also, we obtained 3.0 Oe of coercivity at 40 $\AA$ of CoI layer, 65.9 Oe at 13 $\AA$ and 4.7 % of MR ratio at 27 $\AA$ and 34 $\AA$ by changing the thicknesses of Co layers.

Design of BiCMOS Signal Conditioning Circuitry for Piezoresistive Pressure Sensor (압저항형 압력센서를 위한 BiCMOS 신호처리회로의 설계)

  • In this paper, we have designed signal conditioning circuitry for piezoresistive pressure sensor. Signal conditioning circuitry consists of voltage reference circuit for sensor driving voltage and instrument amplifier for sensor signal amplification. Signal conditioning circuitry is simulated using HSPICE in a single poly double metal $1.5\;{\mu}m$ BiCMOS technology. Simulation results of band-gap reference circuit showed that temperature coefficient of $21\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ at the temperature range of $0\;{\sim}\;70^{\circ}C$ and PSRR of 80 dB. Simulation results of BiCMOS amplifier showed that dc voltage gain, offset voltage, CMRR, CMR and PSRR are outperformed to CMOS and Bipolar, but power dissipation and noise voltage were more improved in CMOS than BiCMOS and Bipolar. Designed signal conditioning circuitry showed high input impedance, low offset and good CMRR, therefore, it is possible to apply sensor and instrument signal conditioning circuitry.

  • 가전산업과 연계하여 유도가열 기술을 응용한 대표적인 시스템으로 IH압력밥솥을 예로 들 수 있다. 유도가열 코일에서 고주파 자속의 의해 발생된 와전류가 결합된 밥솥을 가열하기 때문에 유도가열 코일에는 고주파 손실을 줄이기 위해 Litz wire가 사용된다 이에 본 논문은 특히 IH압력밥솥에 사용되는 Litz wire를 선정하는 데 있어 중요한 요소가 되는 소선경, 가닥수별 AC DC 저항 및 손실계산 그리고 Cost 예측 방법을 제안한다.

  • The effect of base cavities on the drag of a simplified tractor-trailor model for Re=4.1*10$^{5}$ is investigated experimentally. Three different types of base cavities are studied in this work. They are solid-wall, slitted-wall, and slotted-wall cavities. Slotted-wall cavity is found to be most effective for drag reduction. A maximum of 11% reduction in the zero-yaw drag coefficient is achieved with the slotted wall cavity.

  • 직렬로 연결 된 다층의 단위전지 집합으로 구성되는 고체 고분자 연료전지의 적층전지는 에서 발생 할 수 있는 단위전지 간 전압손실과 압력구배를 최소화하기 위해 적층전지 내의 단위전지 외에 부품 및 재료를 추가하여 전압손실과 압력구배를 줄이는 방법에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 체결압 구배를 최소화하기 위해 부드러운 층으로 이루어진 외곽부분과 딱딱한 층으로 이루어진 중심부를 가지는 필름을 전류집합체 뒤쪽에 첨가하였고, 분리판과 전류집합체 사이에서 발생 할 수 있는 전압손실을 방지하기 위해 높은 전기 전도성을 가지며, 평활도를 유지 할 수 있는 재료로 구성 된 복합층을 전류집합체와 분리판 사이에 첨가하였다. 압력구배 측정 및 다층전지 성능테스트 중 단전지간 전압손실을 측정하여 기 제작 된 첨가층들에 대한 영향의 정도를 파악하였다.

Study of the Shape of Car Body Affecting Flow Resistance of Air Flowing Near Car (자동차 주위에 흐르는 공기의 유동 저항에 미치는 차체의 형상 연구)

  • Considerable fuel in cars is consumed by air resistance. The flow resistance against the air stream was analyzed by flow analysis near the passenger car body. In this study, the models were used were cars available on the real market. Two velocities entered into inlet plane of flow were 80 km/h and 110 km/h using the flow analysis of CFX. As the study method, the velocity of air flow near the car and the pressure on the rear part of car body were investigated at the driving of car. The shapes of the study models were models 1 and 2, and the flow streams were four cases of 1, 2, 3, and 4. In case 1 among the four cases, the maximum pressure ($1.017{\times}10^5Pa$) on the rear part was highest and the maximum velocity (43.81m/s) of air flow near car body was fastest. The air drag force in the case of high speed (110km/h) driving a passenger car was higher than that of a normal driving speed (80km/h). The drag force at wide section area of the car body becomes higher than the narrow section area. The shape of the car body can be effectively designed to reduce the air resistance using the study results of this analysis.

A Study on the Resistance Characteristics for Planing Craft with Air Injection at the Bottom (선저 공기공급에 따른 활주형선의 저항특성 연구)

  • A planing craft is designed specifically to achieve comparatively high speed on the surface of the water. The frictional resistance of planing craft can be reduced further by injecting air to the craft's bottom. In this paper, the resistance characteristics of high speed planing crafts with & without air injection at the bottom were compared by sea model-test method. As a result, we conformed that planing craft with air injection has much greater the effect of resistance reduction.
