The purpose of this study is to identify the possibility of developing the 100% Recycled-resources Absorbent-Pervious Alkali-activated Blocks using both the alkalli-binder and the recycled aggregate. In addition, It established a test method such as Void ratio, compressive strength, coefficient permeability, absorption, and evaporation. As a result, an alkali-activated using recycled aggregate block was able to manufacture an 24 MPa class absorbent-pervious blocks with a liquid type sodium silicate and early high temperature curing. In this case, water-holding capacity, absorption and relative absorption were more effective than the natural aggregates. In conclusion, Absorbent-pervious alkali-activated Block Using recycled aggregate has a surface temperature reducing effect of approximately 10 % compared to ordinary concrete block.

This study involves investigating the correlation between variation of internal structure and heating temperature of alkali-activated fire protection materials using fly ash. Dehydration and micro crack thermal expansion occur in cement hydrates of cementitious materials heated by fire. Internal structure difference due to both the dehydration of cement hydrates and pore solution causes and influences changes in the properties of materials. Also, this study is concerned with change in microstructure and dehydration of the alkali-activated fire protection materials at high temperatures. The testing methods of alkali-activated fire protection materials in high temperature properties are make use of TG-DSC and mercury intrusion porosimetry measurements. The study results show that the alkali-activated fire resistant finishing material composed of potassium hydroxide, sodium silicate and fly ash has the high temperature thermal stability. These thermal stability is caused by the ceramic binding capacity induced by alkali activation reaction.
Attempts to increase the utilization of a by-products such as fly ash and blast furnace slag to partially replace the cement in concrete are gathering momentum. But most of by-products is currently dumped in landfills, thus creating a threat to the environment. Many researches on alkali-activated concrete that does not need the presence of cement as a binder have been carried out recently. However, most study deal only with alkali-activated blast furnace slag or fly ash, as for the combined use of the both, little information is reported. In this study, we investigated the influence of mixture ratio of fly ash/slag, type of alkaline activator and curing condition on the workability and compressive strength of mortar in oder to develop cementless alkali-activated concrete. In view of the results, we found out that the mixture ratio of fly ash/slag and the type of alkaline activator always results to be significant factors. But the influence of curing temperature in the strength development of mortar is lower than the contribution due to other factors. At the age of 28days, the mixture 50% fly ash and 50% slag activated with 1:1 the mass ratio of 9M NaOH and sodium silicate, develop compressive strength of about 65 MPa under $20^{\circ}C$ curing.
Recently, numerous studies are being performed to examine alkali-activated cement which uses industrial by-products, such as GGBS and fly ash, as well as alkali activators. Alkali-activated cement is a type of binder that exerts the same strength as cement without using cement by mixing industrial by-products with alkali activators. Alkali activators, which are used mainly for carbon-reducing technologies and alkali activation, are expensive and difficult to apply in the field due to risks related to strong alkalinity. Therefore, this study intends to explore methods to use red mud as a substitute for an alkali activator. To that end, this study has evaluated engineering properties, such as flow and strength, of CLSM that uses red mud and paper sludge ash as binders and its possibility to cause soil pollution. This study also aims to present the appropriate mixing ratios of red mud and paper sludge ash to produce CLSM.

In this research, isothermal conduction calorimetry analysis has been conducted to investigate the reactivity of alkali activated slag binders. In order to secure the reactivity and workability of alkali activated slag binders, experiences with various types and concentrations of alkali activators were performed. Isothermal conduction calorimetry were measured with different alkali activators and mass ratio of $SO_3$ to binders as variables, and sodium tripolyphosphate ($Na_2P_3O_{10}$) and hydrated sodium borate ($Na_2B_4O_710H_2O$) were used to control setting time. As a results, alkali activated slag binders required alkali activators with 4 to 5 percent of concentration to accelerate the formation of calcium silicate hydrate(C-S-H) by alkali-activation, and overall heat generation rate delayed as accumulated heat decreased due to the high $SO_3$ contents. Moreover, the use of hydrated sodium borate as setting retarder causes elongated setting time due to delaying heat generation, so it can be considered that setting retarder played an important role in delaying total heat generation rate.

This paper presents an investigation into the durability alkali-activated materials(AAM) mortar and paste samples manufactured using fly-ash(FA) and ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS) exposed to a sulfate environment with different GGBFS replace ratios(0, 30, 50 and 100%), sodium silicate modules($Ms[SiO_2/Na_2O]$ 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0) and initial curing temperatures($23^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$). The tests involved immersions for a period of 6 months into 10% solutions of sodium sulfate and magnesium sulfate. The evolution of compressive strength, weight, length expansion and microstructural observation such as x-ray diffraction were studied. As a results, as higher GGBFS replace ratio or Ms shown higher compressive strengths on 28 days. In case of immersed in 10% sodium sulfate solution, the samples shows increase in long-term strength. However, for samples immersed in magnesium sulfate solutions, the general observation was that the compressive strength decreased after immersion. The most drastic reduction of compressive strength and expansion of weight and length occurred when GGBFS or Ms ratios were higher. Also, the XRD analysis of samples immersed in magnesium sulfate indicated that expansion of AAM caused by gypsum($CaSO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$); the gypsum increased up to 6 months continuously.

The purpose of this study is to understand a compressive strength and propose a dry shrinkage strain equation being able to predict dry shrinkage of alkali-activated materials(AAM) mortar samples manufactured using fly-ash(FA) and ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS). The main parameters investigated were the GGBFS replace ratios(30, 50, 70 and 100%) and sodium silicate modules(Ms[$SiO_2/Na_2O$] 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0). The compressive strength of AAM increased with increases GGBFS replace ratios or Ms contents. The dry shrinkage strain of AAM decreased with increases Ms contents. But, the dry shrinkage strain of AAM increased as the GGBFS replace ratio increases. Therefore, the GGBFS replace ratio seems to have very significant and important consequences for the mix design of the AAM mortar. The results indicated the R-square of single regression analysis based on each mix properties was the highest value; 0.7539~0.9786(average 0.9359). And the presumption equation of dry shrinkage strain with all variables(GGBFS, Ms and material age) has higher accuracy and its R-square was 0.8020 at initial curing temperature 23 degrees Celsius and 0.8018 at initial curuing temperature 70 degrees Celsius.

This study consist of research on the strength development properties of alkali activated slag(AAS) by differential combination of activators, initial protecting and curing conditions. 3 type of binders cured in the atmosphere, underwater and sealed were estimated compressive strength of 3, 7 and 28 days. Test results showed that strength development properties of binders varied with initial protecting and curing conditions because of ionized anions in pore water.

Red mud is an inorganic by-product produced from the mineral processing of alumina from Bauxite ores. The development of alkali-activated slag-red mud cement can be a representative study aimed at recycling the strong alkali of the red mud as a construction material. This study is to investigate the optimum water content, compressive strength, water absorption and efflorescence of alkali-activated slag-red mud soil pavement according to binder type. The results showed that the optimum water content, moisture absorption coefficient and efflorescence area of alkali-activated slag-red mud soil pavement increased but the compressive strength of that decreased as the redmud content increased.
