  • The split Hopkinson bar technique is the most widely used method to study material behavior at high strain rate deformation. In the present paper, a torsional Hopkinson bar for testing thin-walled tube specimens at high strain rate is described. From the experiment of aluminum 6061, dynamic stress-strain relationship can be obtained and dynamic result is compared with static one.

  • The numerical simulation of the Forming Limit Diagram(FLD) test was carried out to calculate the limiting dome height(LDH: ISO12004-2) for aluminum alloy sheet Al6061-T6. The finite element analysis was used as an effective method for evaluating formability and diagnosing possible production problems in sheet stamping operations. To predict fracture during the stamping process, several failure models such as Cockcroft-Latham, Rice-Tracey, Brozzo and ESI-Wilkins-Kamoulakos(EWK) criteria were applied. The predicted results were discussed and compared with the experiments for Al6061-T6.

  • 알루미늄 합금은 자동차부품 및 전자부품산업 개발에 크게 기여하고 있는 소재로서, 제조방법 중 냉?온간 단조 공법에 의해 제조하는 것이 대량 생산되어지는 자동차 및 전자산업부품개발에 있어서 매우 효율적이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 차세대 콤프레샤 실린더 블록 개발을 위하여,AI소재 (AI-Mg-Si계합금)를 활용, 냉 -온간 단조법을 이용 하여 개발하고자 한다. 이를 위해, 제조 시편의 미세조직 및 기계적 성질을 조사하였는데,미세조직은 공정형으로 구성되었으며, $Mg_2Si$의 중간상이 석출되었다. 그리고 인장강도는 291.7MPa 로 나타났으며, 그러한 결과를 바탕으 로 차세대 콤프레샤 실린더 블록시제품을 제작하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 표면파의 음향비선형 특성 측정을 위해 선 배열 레이저 빔을 이용하여 협대역의 표면파를 발생시키고 레이저 TWM(Two-Wave Mixing) 방식으로 수신하는 완전 비접촉 측정 방법이 도입되었다. 이 기술은 알루미늄 합금의 소성변형과 음향비선형 특성과의 상관성을 조사하는데 적용되었다. 그 결과, 재료의 소성변형에 따라 음향 비선형성이 비례적으로 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 접촉식 PZT 탐촉자 수신 방법으로 측정한 결과와 동일한 경향이다.

CAE 해석을 이용한 자동차용 AA6061 리어 서브-프레임의 경량화 설계 (Light-weight Design of Automotive AA6061 Rear Sub-frame Based on CAE Simulation)

  • It is well known that the targeted fuel efficiency could only be achieved by more than 40% reduction of the vehicle weight through improved design and extensive utilization of lightweight materials. In order to obtain the goal of the weight reduction of automobiles, the researches about lighter and stronger rear sub-frame have been studied without sacrificing the safety of rear sub-frame. In this study, the weight reduction design process of rear sub-frame could be proposed based on the variation of von-Mises stress contour by substituting an AA6061 (aluminum 6061 alloy) having tensile strength of 310 MPa grade instead of SAPH440 steels. In addition, the stress ratio variations (stress over fatigue limit) of the rear sub-frame were examined and compared carefully. It could be reached that this approach method could be well established and be contributed for light-weight design guide and the optimum design conditions of the automotive rear sub-frame development.

고압용기로 사용되는 후방압출된 알루미늄 6061합금의 기계적 특성에 미치는 용체화처리 및 시효처리의 영향 (The Effect of Solution Heat Treatment and Aging Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of Backward Extruded A6061 Alloy for Pressure Vessels)

  • Mechanical properties and precipitation behavior of backward extruded 6061 Al alloy for pressure vessel were investigated using tensile test, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). In this study, solution heat treatment (SHT) was performed at $535^{\circ}C$ for 30~90 min and aging treatment was conducted at 177 and $190^{\circ}C$ for 1~7 h. Maximum tensile strength of $36.6kgf/mm^2$ and yield strength of $33.29kgf/mm^2$ were achieved at the aging time of 5 h at $190^{\circ}C$. TEM observation showed that fine needle-like ${\beta}^{{\prime}{\prime}}$ phase which has 35~45 nm of length was uniformly distributed in the aged 6061 Al alloy specimen. From tensile test, TEM and DSC analysis, it is expected that aging time of 2~5 h at $190^{\circ}C$ is suitable for the extruded A6061 used as pressure vessels.

펄스 레이저 조사 후 알루미늄 합금의 표면상태에 대한 표면 거칠기의 영향 (Influence of Surface Roughness on Morphology of Aluminum Alloy After Pulsed-Laser Irradiation)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 Nd:YAG 펄스레이저 조사 후 알루미늄 합금 6061-T6 시편의 표면상태에 대한 표면 거칠기의 영향을 연구하는 것이다. 초기 표면 거칠기를 다르게 하기 위해 다아이몬드 입자($1{\mu}m$)와 연마지(#100, #220, #600, #2400)를 이용하여 표면을 가공하였다. 10 번의 펄스레이저를 조사한 후 주사전자현미경과 광학현미경 그리고 원자현미경을 이용하여 표면상태를 관찰하였다. 그 결과 표면 거칠기가 증가할수록 용융부의 지름이 증가하였는데, 이는 표면 거칠기에 따라 표면부에서 레이저 빔의 다중반사와 다중흡수가 일어나 레이저 빔의 흡수율이 변하기 때문이다. 이를 검증하기 위해 용융부의 지름으로부터 표면 거칠기에 의해 증가하는 상대적인 흡수율을 계산하였으며 평균 표면 거칠기가 증가함에 따라 상대적인 흡수율이 용융부의 지름과 유사한 형태로 증가하는 것을 보였다.

Al 6061/AFRP 하이브리드 복합재료의 강도특성에 미치는 내후성 영향 (Effect of Sunshine Treatment on Strength in Al 6061/AFRP Hybrid Composite)

  • This research is to evaluate the effect of sunshine treatment on the strength in the Al 6061/AFRP hybrid composite(APAL). APAL specimens were processed by autoclave curing system under the constant condition of curing temperature, time and aluminum surface pertreatment. Aramid patched aluminum alloy can be widely used for the repair of the damage part of the aircraft. The tensile strength of the sunshine treated APAL 2P and 6P composite is 14%, 22% smaller than that of the non-treated material. The interlaminar shear strength of the APAL specimens for the adhesive length of 5mm is 24% higher than that of the APAL for the adhesive length of 10mm. In the case of APAL DS 1P material, interlaminar shear strength of the specimen which was sunshine treated for 200 hours is 21% smaller than that of the non-treated material while interlaminar shear strength of the specimen which was immersed in a 70.deg. C fresh water for 1200 hours decreases by 75.7%.

  • The formation of micro-burrs in micro-milling processes causes several problems related to productivity and surface integrity. It should be minimized and suppressed by effective monitoring of the cutting conditions. This paper presents the correlation between the micro-burr length and cutting signals in the micro-milling process of an Al alloy (Al6061-T6). The acoustic emission (AE) signals and cutting force signals are acquired during the experiments. The characteristics of the cutting signals are obtained by analyzing the AE root mean square value and resultant cutting force. In addition, the micro-burr length is measured according to the cutting conditions by analyzing a scanning electron microscopy image of the machined surface. The results of this study can be used to enhance the surface quality of micro parts.

Al6061 합금의 열간 압출공정에서 금형 냉각시스템에 의한 압출재의 결정립 성장 제어 (Reduction of Grain Growth for Al6061 Alloy by the Die Cooling System in Hot Extrusion Process)

  • In this study, die cooling system using the nitrogen gas has been applied to hot aluminum extrusion process for refining grains and reducing of grain growth. Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) has been carried out to evaluate die cooling effect by nitrogen gas, and the results of CFD have been used to FE-simulation for the prediction of the extrudate temperature in hot extrusion process. Experimental hot extrusion has been performed to observe microstructure and to measure temperature of extrudate. The results of FE-Simulation have been good agreement with those of experiment. Finally, process condition of hot extrusion can be established to reduce grain growth of Al6061 through the experiment.
