CPW-fed UWB Monopole Paper Antenna (CPW 급전 UWB 모노폴 종이 안테나)

  • This paper presents a novel CPW-fed UWB monopole paper antenna made by paper and copper tape. Through the simulation, the optimized antenna design parameters were obtained, and an antenna having an omni-directional radiation pattern and a gain of 2.2 dBi or more in the UWB frequency band of 3.1-10.6 GHz was designed. The antenna was manufactured using general A4 paper and copper tape, and the measurement result satisfies the return loss of -10dB or less in the UWB frequency band and confirm that the return loss characteristic was maintained even when the antenna plane was bent by 3 mm in the longitudinal direction. The proposed antenna is a wearable device that can provide services in the UWB band, and can be manufactured inexpensively by printing it with a conductive print on paper. So it can be used as a wearable antenna for UWB communication in various application fields such as logistics and disposable terminals.

Characteristic Verification of Electronically Scanned Array Antenna for a Ku-band FMCW Radar (Ku-대역 FMCW 레이더용 전자식 빔 조향 배열 안테나 특성 검증)

  • In this paper, the design, fabrication and verification steps of an electronically scanned array antenna(AESA) for a photonics-based Ku-band FMCW radar system is described. The presented system consists of a transmitter and a receiver respectively, which has a same antenna in the transceiver. The designed antenna has 2×8 array configuration and operates at Ku-band. The VSWR(Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) of each 16-radiators and the coupling power between radiators is measured. Also, in order to minimize the radar system damage because of handover power from the transmitter antenna to the receiver antenna when the transmitter works, the isolation between the transmitter antenna and the receiver antenna is optimized by test. As a result, beamwidth, side lobe level and beam steering characteristic are obtained by synthesizing each radiator pattern measurement data after each beam pattern of 16-radiators is measured in the near-field chamber.

A Study on Clustered OFCDM with Transmit Antenna Diversity and Coding Associated with Frequency Spreading over Frequency Selective Fading Channel (주파수 선택적 페이딩 채널에서 주파수 확산과 결합된 코딩과 송신안테나 다이버시티를 가진 Clustered OFCDM 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • This paper improves the effects of clustered OFCDM scheme considering the frequency diversity effect over a frequency selective fading channel. In OFCDM with frequency domain spreading compared to OFDM, we can increase uncorrelated symbols by frequency allocation method of correspondent symbols over the same antenna and different antenna after spreading. The simulation results show that the performance of proposed system is improved by approximately 4 dB in ${\sigma}=0.02{\mu}sec$, the performance is improved by approximately 2.5dB in large delay spread in a 12-path Rayleigh fading channel with overall the root mean squared delay spread and the maximum Doppler frequency of 20 Hz. Also, the required average received Eb/No at the average BER of $10^{-3}$ by optimum method is improved by approximately 2.0 dB, compared to that of STA-OFCDM with frequency rearrange. The new method does not require any bandwidth expansion any feedback from the receiver to the transmitter and its computation complexity is similar to clustered OFCDM.

  • 급작스런 탈원전의 선언은 원자력계를 패닉에 빠뜨리기도 했지만 사실은 뒤돌아볼 새도 없이 앞을 향해 달리기만 한 관성을 거두고 현실을 철저히 분석하여 지금부터 미래까지 최적화된 체질로 개선할 수 있는 처음이자 마지막 기회를 열어준 것이기도 하다. 이제 원자력계는 스스로 책임을 추스르고 안전을 보다 더 강화할 뿐 아니라 사고가 났을 경우 어떻게 하면 부정적 영향을 최소화하고 신속하게 정상 상태로 회복할 수 있는가에 대한 명확하고도 속시원한 시나리오를 제시할 수 있어야 한다. 국민은 원자력계가 어떤 상황에도 흔들림 없이 이러한 숙제를 풀기 위해 어떻게 노력하며 무엇을 준비하며 얼마나 실력을 갖고 있는지 그 부분을 평가한다. 국민이 평가하는 건 원전이 위험한가 아닌가를 뛰어넘어 원자력계가 얼마나 믿을 만한가 아닌가라는 것을 꼭 기억했으면 좋겠다.

Electrically Small Square Loop Antenna with SRR (Split Ring Resonator) Cover Structure (SRR (Split Ring Resonator) 덮개 구조를 갖는 전기적 소형 정사각형 루프 안테나)

  • In this paper, electrically small square loop antenna with SRR (Split Ring Resonator) cover structure is built and tested. The proposed antenna has very small size, ka = 0.34 by Chu limit. The experimental result shows that the resonant frequency and impedance bandwidth($VSWR{\leq}2$) are 906MHz and 5.8MHz (901.7 - 907.5MHz), respectively. The proposed antenna is matched and designed by equivalent circuit model. The proposed antenna is fabricated simple structure without additional matching network and printed on a Teflon substrate without ground plane. Therefore, it has advantages of low cost, small size, and light weight and will be applied to wireless communication systems where small antennas are required.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of a inset fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna for S-band applications is studied. The variations of return loss along inset length and inset width are investigated on the inset fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna. From the investigated results, the optimized inset fed antenna is designed. At the resonant frequency 2.3 GHz, the optimized dimension of the patch is $45.0mm{\times}40.9mm$. The inset length and width are 14 mm and 1 mm, respectively. The designed antenna is fabricated on the substrate which has a dielectric constant and thickness with 2.5 and 0.787 mm. Simulation results are obtained by a 3D EM(Electromagnetic) solver. The resonant frequency and return loss are measured 2.3025 GHz and -21.11 dB, respectively. The measured and simulated results of the fabricated antenna are in good agreement.

  • In this paper, we propose a new MLP based detector which has low circuit complexity and fast adaptation capability for CDMA downlink in frequency selective fading, and is easy for parameter optimization. The simplified structure of the proposed MLP is designed by making use of transmission characteristics of downlinks such that all users signals transmitted over same propagation paths and the number of channelization codes are limited. Significant performance improvement over Rake receiver can be obtained with the proposed MLP and the efficiency of the proposed MLP was compared with that of conventional MLP.

  • Cooperative communications among users in multiple access wireless environments is an efficient way to obtain the powerful benefits of multi-antenna systems without the demand for physical arrays. This paper proposes a solution to optimize the weights of partnering users' signals for the minimum error probability at the output of maximum likelihood (ML) detector under the transmit power constraints by taking advantage of channel state information (CSI) feedback from the receiver to the transmitter. Simulation programs are also established to evaluate the performance of the system under flat Rayleigh fading channel plus AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise).

  • 본 논문에서는 PC 기반 지상파 DMB(Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting, T-DMB) 수신기를 위한 SW 최적화에 대해 설명한다. 이 수신기는 PC 외부에 지상파 DMB 신호를 안테나로 수신하여 복조하고 채널 복호하는 프론트 엔드(front-end) 수신 모듈을 이용, USB를 통하여 RS(Reed-Solomon) 부호화된 MPEG-2 TS(Transport Stream) 데이터를 읽어 들여 RS 복호, TS 역다중화, 비디오 복호, 오디오 복호 등의 SW 처리 과정을 거쳐 디스플레이 상에 수신 내용을 표시하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 저사양 PC에서도 T-DMB를 수신할 수 있도록 H.264/MPEG-4 AVC(Advanced Video Coding) 복호 과정을 최적화한 결과에 대해 설명한다.

  • In this paper, we propose the channel sounding scheme which improves the reliability and performance of communication link and mitigate the fading effect of channel in MTMO-OFDM system having correlation between Tx and Rx antennas. And we estimate the channel propagation characteristics of channels between the transmitter and receiver with CS scheme by measuring the channel propagation characteristics using sounding signal. Multi agent system models can be used to analyze the path of the system within any time frame. Further, using this proposed method, we can increase the channel capacity by simple calculation in receiver and transmitter and allocate the optimal power by channel information in transmitter. Also, the increment of channel capacity using the prorposed method is induced as the number of antenna is increased. So, we can anticipate the performance improvement with the presented scheme in more complicated Tx and Rx antenna system.
