Stabilization of LiMn2O4 Electrode for Lithium Secondary Battery(I) - Electrode Characteristics on the Substitution of Metal Oxides in LiMn2O4 Cathode Material - (리튬이차전지용 정극활물질 LiMn2O4의 안정화(I) - LiMn2O4에 대한 금속산화물의 치환에 따른 전극 특성 -)

  • For the stabilization of the spinel structured $LiMn_2O_4$, a fraction of manganese was substituted with various metals such as Mg, Fe, V, W, Cr, Mo with Mn that had a similar ionic radii ($LiM_xMn_{2-x}O_4(0.05{\leq}x{\leq}0.02)$). The $LiM_xMn_{2-x}O_4$ showed a substantial improvement as lower capacity loss than that of the spinel structured $LiMn_2O_4$ when it was used as a cathode material. And with the partial substitution, the chemical diffusion coefficient for $LiMg_{0.05}Mn_{1.9}O_4$ and $LiCr_{0.1}Mn_{1.9}O_4$ was increased by and order of magnitude compared to that of the $LiMn_2O_4$ with spinel structure. The results showed that significant improvement can be made on the electrochemical characteristics as the structure of the $LiMn_2O_4$ electrode material was stabilized by the partial substitution.

  • Coal combustion products are generated during coal combustion and can be grouped into fly ash and bottom ash depending on collection methods. Fly ash and bottom ash can be recycled for various purposes based on their characteristics. Australia is the fourth largest coal production country in the world and reuses coal ash as cement, concrete, mine filler, and agricultural soil amendment. When fly ash is used as a supplement for cement and concrete, strength of the cement and the durability of the concrete can be improved. Use of coal combustion product for mine backfill stabilizes underground mine voids and stores a large amount of coal ash in the voids. Because of alkalinity of coal combustion products, it can neutralize acid mine drainage when used for mine backfill. In addition, it can be used as an agricultural soil amendment to improve acidity and physical properties of the soil and to supply plant nutrients. Recycling of fly ash in Australia will be further expanded because of its low trace element contents that can be toxic to plants and low radioactive element contents existing within soil background concentrations. The characteristics of coal combustion products are related to the characteristics of the coal used for combustion, and since Korea imports coal from Australia, Korean coal combustion products also can be recycled for various purposes.

  • This paper presents stabilization and position control of the Inverted-Pendulum system with cart by using Evolution Strategies that is one of the Evolutionary Computation and is effective in searching real number. The control input of the Inverted-Pendulum is the element of chromosome corresponding to the divided space of Inverted-Pendulum state variable x, x, 0, 0 . In general, the larger the length of the chromosome is, the longer the time of evolution to search optimal solution is. So in this paper, we propose a scheme that reduce the state space by half by taking the method, that is, converting only the sign of the control input without obtaining separately for the symmetrical sections of the Inverted-Pendulum to improve the speed of Evolution, and improved the efficiency of the entire system in addition to the improvement of the chromosome's evolution time by carrying out the chromosome's evolutional process by two steps one of which is that cart is positioned near the control point and the other cart is positioned far from that point. We propose another method that is Neural Network-Evolution StrategiedNN-ES) Controller. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme by computer simulations.

  • Chitosan derivatives, 6-amino-6-deoxychitosan (6A6DC) was successively prepared as a reactive carbohydrate for the stabilization of epidermal growth factor (EGF) by the reactions of chitosan with tosyl chloride, sodium azide, and lithium aluminum tetrahydride. The structure of 6A6DC was confirmed by EA, FT-IR, $^1H-NMR$ and $^{13}C\{^1H\}-NMR$. The degree of substitution (ds) of amino groups in 6A6DC was determined to be 0.7. 6A6DC did not show any cytotoxicity on the normal human dermal fibroblast (NHDF) proliferation at least in the range tested (0.3 g/mL 600 g/mL) and was considered as a suitable material for the stabilization of EGF against proteolytic degradation due to its non-cytotoxicity and high reactivity.

  • 자연하천은 자연적 인위적인 환경의 변화에 대해서 하천 고유의 특성을 조절하는 능력을 가지고 있으며, 하상은 하천의 변화에 끊임없이 반응하며 그 응답의 특성에 의해 복잡한 형태의 안정화를 구현하고 있다. 하지만 하천 내에 하폭 급변구간 같은 특이하도 구간이 산재하게 되면 하폭 급변구간의 직 상류 구간에서는 배수영향으로 인해 홍수위가 증가하게 되며, 직 하류 구간에서는 소류력의 증가로 하상 및 하안 침식을 야기 시키고 있는 실정이다. 또한, 하류의 일정구간에서는 유사의 국지적인 퇴적이 발생하여 하천범람의 원인으로 작용하기도 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 하폭 급변구간 직 상 하류 및 하류구간에서 발생하는 하상변동 특성을 규명하고자 하도특성 조사 방법에 따라 하폭 급변구간에서의 하도특성을 조사 분석하였으며, 이를 2차원 수치모형인 SMS 모형을 이용하여 분석 및 검증 하고자 한다. 감천 및 낙동강선산지구의 하폭 급변구간을 대상유역으로 선정하였으며, 하상재료의 이동성에 대한 평가 지표로 입증된 무차원소류력(${\tau}{\ast}$)의 분석결과 감천 및 낙동강선산지구의 직 상류 및 직 하류 구간에서는 하상의 세굴현상, 하류 구간에서는 유사의 국지적인 퇴적현상이 일어나는 것으로 분석 되었다. 또한, 2차원 수치모형인 SMS 모형 모의결과 전체 구간에 대해서 세굴 지향적으로 모의 되었으며, 하폭 급변부 하류 구간에 퇴적이 발생하는 것으로 모의되었다. 하지만 하폭 급변구간 상류에서의 국지적인 유사 퇴적양상은 수치모의 결과 확인 할 수 없었다. 이는 수치모형의 한계로 판단된다. 하도특성 및 수치모의 결과 하폭 급변구간 하류에서 유사의 국지적인 퇴적이 발생하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 실제 하천에서의 하폭 급변부 하류구간에서의 하상미지형 변화에 의한 국지적 유사퇴적 현상을 입증된 거라 할 수 있다.

Study on Recycling of Waste Rubbers as Medium Components for Hydroponic Culture of Rose (장미 양액재배 배지의 구성요소로서 폐고무의 재활용에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the efficient disposal of the waste rubber is necessary due to increasing amount of the waste rubbers. In this paper, method of recycling waste rubbers as components of medium for hydroponic rose culture was suggested. We investigated growth of rose, and macro- and micro-elements, pH and EC of the media amended with waste rubber, In the beginning of culture, stress symptoms such as thin brittle stem and incipient wilting were observed, but they disappeared in a few weeks. Concentration of $Zn^{2+}$ in media at flowering increased in proportion to contents of waste tire in the media. pH of media at flowering were in the range of 5.70 to 6.35. Rose growth in all media, except in wasterock wool mixed with EPDM powder at 9:3 ratio, was normal and equivalent to the control in terms of stem length, number of stems harvested and fresh weight.

  • 오스테나이트계 Fe-10Cr-10Ni-xC(x=0.2, 0.5, 0.6and 0.7wt.%)합금에서 변형유기마르텐사이트상변태가 Sliding 마모저항성에 미치는영향을 탄소 및 온도에 따라 조사하였다. 변형유기마르텐사이트상변태가 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 석출물적고 grain의 크기가 비슷한 합금내에서 조사하였다. 변형유기마르텐사이트상변태가 일어나는데 필요한 에너지를 변형률-응력 곡선을 통해 구할 수 있으며, 이를 임계변형에너지라 규명했다. 그 결과, 상온에서 Carbon 함량에 따라 변형유기마르텐사이트상변태가 일어나는데 필요한 임계변형에너지는 증가하였으며, Sliding 마모저항성은 저하되었다. 이는 carbon이 오스테나이트 안정화원소(austenite stabilityelement)이므로 carbon 함량이 증가할수록 변형유기마르텐사이트상변태가 유발하기위해서는 많은 에너지가 필요하기 때문에 low C에 비해 high C의 마모저항성이 저하된 것으로 사료된다. 또한 변형유기마르텐사이트상변태가 고온 Sliding 마모저항성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 Fe-Cr-Ni-xC(x=0.2, 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7wt.%)합금을 온도별(25, 100, $300^{\circ}C$)로 조사하였다.

  • Barium titanyl oxalate which is a precursor of barium titanate has been precipitated at pH 4~5 by a rapid addition of aqueous titanyl oxalate solution to artificial environmental water samples containing equivalent weight of $Ba^{2+}$ ions. Quantitative recoveries of $Cd^{2+}$ and $Pb^{2+}$ from the water samples has been confirmed and found to be usable as a possible method of preconcentration for their determination.

  • Stainless steel is widely applied in many industrial fields due to its excellent anti-corrosion and durability characteristics. However, stainless steel is very vulnerable to cavitation attack caused by high speed flow of fluid in the chloride environments such as marine environment. These conditions promote intergranular corrosion and cavitation-erosion, leading to degradation of the structural integrity and service life. In order to prevent these problems, the stabilized stainless steel is applied to the offshore and shipbuilding industries. In this study, Ti was added to 19%Cr-9%Ni as the stabilizer element with different concentrations (0.26%, 0.71%), and their durabilities were evaluated with cavitation-erosion experiment by a modified ASTM G32 method. The microstructural change was observed with the stabilizer element contents. The result of the observation indicated that the amount of carbide precipitation was decreased and its size became finer with increasing Ti content. In the cavitation-erosion experiment, both weight loss and surface damage depth represented an inverse proportional relationship with the amount of Ti element. Consequently, the stainless steel containing 0.71% of Ti had excellent durability characteristics.

Effect of Small Additives on the Microstructure of Strip-Cast Nd-Fe-B Alloys (소량의 첨가원소가 Strip-Cast Nd-Fe-B 향금의 미세 조직 형성에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to improve dendritic formation of Nd$_2$Fe$\_$14/B phase in the strip-cast Nd-Fe-B alloys that are frequently used for production of high energy sintered magnets, effect of small substitutional additives such as Cu (0.3~1.0 at. %) and Co (0.5~1.5 at.%) on the phase formation and microstructures of the strip-cast alloys based on Nd$\_$14/Fe$\_$80/B$\_$6/ were investigated. As the amount of Cu addition increased, formation of Nd$_2$Fe$\_$14/B dendrites along the direction normal to the strip surface was suppressed with the reduction of the strip thickness mainly due to the increase of fluidity of the melt. However, both the dendrites and their <001> preferred orientation along the direction normal to the strip surface were improved with the increase of the strip thickness as the amount of Co addition increased. The dendrites became finer after small amount of Cu or Co was added. While small copper additions tended to stabilize the formation of primary Fe, small cobalt additions suppressed it. When small amount of Zr was added, however, the dendrite structures were totally collapsed with excessive grain growth of Nd$_2$Fe$\_$14/B.
