  • Separation motion analysis of staging system is conducted using combined analysis programs, which include unsteady aerodynamic analysis codes and dynamic motion analysis tools. In this study, the analysis is for the long-rang missile staging system. The purpose of this study is to verify the safety and reliance of the proposed staging system, and to find out the influence of angle of attack perturbation on staging. A structured parallel overset mesh called Chimera grid is used for the simulation of unsteady supersonic Euler flow solver. In addition, unsteady dynamic simulations are also performed.

  • IIn this study, O/W type nano-emulsions were prepared by phospholipid-nonionic surfactant mixtures and octyldodecylmyristate using the phase transition low-energy emulsification method. The nano-emulsions were formed only in the very narrow area of the concentration of mixed surfactant and oil molar ratio of around 1 : 1. The particle size of the emulsions was decreased as adding the aqueous phase into the emulsions after phase inversion point unlike the emulsions formed only with nonionic surfactant. Nano-emulsion was stable at room temperature for more than a month. Thus, the nano-emulsions containing phospholipids can be widely used as a cosmetic formulations.

  • Important parameters for the stability checks of cantilever wall are the active earth pressure and the weight of soil above the heel of the base slab. If the heel length is so long enough that the shear zone bounded by the failure plane is not obstructed by the stem of the wall, the Rankine active condition is assumed to exist along the vertical plane which is located at the edge of the heel of the base slab. Then the Rankine active earth pressure equations may be theoretically used to calculate the lateral pressure on the vertical plane. However, in case of the cantilever wall with a short heel, the application of Rankine theory is not only theoretically incorrect but also makes the lateral earth pressure larger than the actual pressure and results in uneconomical design. In this study, for the cantilever wall with a short heel the limit analysis method is used to investigate the mechanism of development of the active earth pressure and then the magnitude and location of the resultants of the pressure and the weight of the soil above the heel are determined. The calculated results are compared with the existing methods for the stability check. In case of the cantilever wall with a short heel, the results by the Mohr circle method and Teng's method show max. 3.7% and 32% larger than those of the limit analysis method respectively.

  • The effect of vanadium additions on the thermal stability of Al-TI alloy \vas investigated. Al- 8wt.%Ti and Al-8wt.%(Ti+V) alloys wirh different Ti to V atomic ratios of 3 : 1 and 1 : 1 were pre- pared by mechanical alloying. The steady states wwe obtalncd after mechanical alloy~ng for ltihours for all the alloy compositions. The mechanically alloyed powders were consolidaicd by vacuum hot pressing and thermal st.ability was investigated by hardness testing afrcr aging thc specimens at $400^{\circ}C$, $480^{\circ}C$, $550^{\circ}C$ for up to 1000hrs. It was confirmed that addit~on of V- increased the thermal stability of Al-Ti alloy by reducing coarsening rate of $Ai_{3}Ti$ intermetallic compound.

  • Cholesterol plays an important role in various physiological responses and membrane stability. To investigate the effect of cholesterol in liposome on the stability of encapsulated ascorbic acid, the physico-chemical experiments using various amounts of cholesterol-containing liposomes were performed. The encapsulation efficiency of ascorbic acid was decreased with increasing cholesterol content in liposome, whereas size of liposome was increased. Furthermore, the stability of encapsulated ascorbic acid was increased with increasing the content of cholesterol. The stability was not affected by pH. Encapsulated ascorbic acid in liposome stored at $37^{\circ}C$ was rapidly oxidized compared to those stored at $4^{\circ}C$. These results suggest that cholesterol in liposome affects largely to the stability of encapsulated ascorbic acid.

  • Because the stability of obstacle avoidance ability is important for the safe operation of mobile robots, this paper deals with the analysis of dynamic stability of Limit-cycle navigation method that was proposed by authors. Limit-cycle navigation method is fast and easy to implement for fast moving mobile robots using limit-cycle characteristics of the 2nd-order nonlinear function. It can be applied to robots in dynamically changing environment such as the robot soccer. By adjusting the radius of the motion circle and the direction of the obstacle avoidance, the mobile robot can avoid the collision with obstacles and move to the destination point. The stability of Limit-cycle navigation method is analyzed with a linear model. To demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability, it is applied to the robot soccer Simulations and real experiments ascertain the merits of the proposed method.

  • The main objective of this paper is to propose a new stability analysis method for a networked control system with multiple packet transmission. The new scheduling method that can guarantee the maximum time delay and discrete switch state equation model which represent a network data loss is proposed. The equivalent model of a MIMO(multi-input multi-output) networked control system is derived from a state space model of linear time invariant interconnected systems in the form of asynchronous dynamical system. Using this model, this paper presents new stability theorems that can determine stability of the networked control system with regard to time delay, data loss, and the number of transmission packets. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of proposed stability analysis method.

  • The joint model has influence on the results of discontinuum analysis. In this study the results of discontinuum analysis with Barton-Bandis joint model(BB model) and with Mohr-Coulomb joint model(MC model) are compared. The results of continuum analysis under the same condition are compared with the results of discontinuum analysis to investigate the behavior of rockmass around tunnel. The result of continuum analysis and that of discontinuum analysis with BB model show similar distribution of displacement and stress. On the other hand, the discontinuum analysis with MC model shows different displacement distribution and stress distribution. Moreover, the displacement and minor principal stress of the discontinuum analysis with MC model are smaller than those of continuum analysis, although the joints are explicitly considered in the discontinuum analysis. These results are originated from the limitation of MC model in simulating joint deformation behavior, especially the assumption of constant dilation jingle independent of it)int 7hear displacement.
