Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices and Education Needs Toward Safe Medication Use among Middle and High School Students (중·고등학생의 의약품 안전 사용에 대한 지식·태도·행동 및 교육 요구 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to find ways to improve education about safe medication use by investigating the current status of medication use by middle and high school students, and by evaluating their knowledge, attitudes, practices and education needs toward safe medication use. For this purpose, a survey was administered to 200 middle and high school students in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Over the past year, 92.0% and 57.5% of respondents used over-the counter drugs and prescription drugs at least one time, respectively. Regarding the experience of education on safe medication use, 34.0% of respondents have been educated more than once since their admission to middle school. The overall mean score of knowledge·attitude·practice (KAP) toward safe medication use was 3.79, but the mean score of practice scope was relatively lower than the others. Moreover, there were no significant differences in KAP scores for safe medication use by school grade or educational experience. Based on these findings, we suggest further studies regarding 1) expansion and differentiation of education content on safe medication use, 2) transition of education method to outcome-based education approach, and 3) inclusion of education on safe medication use in the regular curriculum of middle and high schools.

Development and Effectiveness of Safety Education Program for Radiological Technology Students (방사선과 학생을 위한 안전교육프로그램 개발 및 효과)

  • This study was an experimental study conducted to verify the effect of a safety education program on the safety knowledge of medical-related infections, radiation safety knowledge, and attitudes toward safety behavior among radiological technology students. This study targeted 40 radiological technology students who were about to enter clinical training who understood the purpose of the study and voluntarily participated. The safety education program was conducted over a total of three sessions, and the results were collected through two self-report questionnaires at the beginning and end. SPSS/WIN 21.0 was used for the collected data, and as a result of the study, the safety education program was related to medical-related infection safety knowledge (t=-2.15, p<.001), radiation safety knowledge (t=1.68, p=.001), and safety. The effect was verified by showing a statistically significant difference in attitude toward behavior (t=22.54, p<.001). As a result, the safety education program is effective in improving students' safety knowledge about medical-related infections, radiation safety knowledge, and attitudes toward safe behavior. If the safety education program is expanded and implemented in the future, various safety accidents can be prevented and safe clinical practice can be achieved.

Studies on the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Behavior of Mothers Toward Food Hygiene and Safety of School Food-Service Programs - part 1 (학교급식의 위생안전성에 대한 학부모의 지식, 태도 및 행동에 관한 연구 -제1보)

  • This study was performed to investigate knowledge, attitudes and related behavior on the food hygiene and safety management of school food-service programs among mothers and to find factors affecting their knowledge, attitudes and behavior. A self-administered questionnaire was offered to a random sample of 301 mothers who have children attending elementary schools in one region of Korea. The survey was carried out over a two-month period (April-May,2001). They had lower behavior scores compared to the scores of knowledge and attitudes (p〈0.05). The micro levels of the knowledge, attitudes and behavior scores also showed the same tendency. Logistic regression analysis showed that mothers' education level affected their knowledge and attitudes, while the participating activity in school food-service programs affected their behavior the most frequently. Pearson's correlation analysis confirmed that the knowledge and attitude scores were significantly correlated (r=0.61404, p〈0.001). The results indicate that the knowledge and attitude levels of mothers regarding the food hygiene and safety of school food-service programs were good, however, their behavior levels were not satisfactory. The findings highlight the importance of participating programs in school food-service programs to close gaps between the behavior and knowledge or attitudes of mothers and to improve their behavior levels.

  • "습관을 바꾸면 인생이 바뀐다."는 말이 있다. 스티븐 코비가 지은 "성공하는 사람의 7가지 습관"에 나오는 말들은 우리가 익히 알고 있는 내용들이다. 예를 들어 목표를 가지고 행동으로 실천하라, 일의 순서를 정하고 중요한 것부터 처리하도록 하라, 경청한 다음 이해시켜라 등 그리 어려운 얘기들이 아니다. 하지만 왜 성공하기가 어려운 것일까? 스티븐 코비는 이렇게 말한다 '악의 이파리를 수천 개 잘라내는 것 보다 뿌리를 잘라 내는 것이 더 낫다' 우리가 자신의 태도와 행동에 지엽적인 변화만 주는 것을 그만두고, 그 대신 자신의 태도와 행동의 근본 뿌리인 패러다임을 변화시킬 때라야 비로소 획기적 개선을 달성할 수 있는 것이다.

Attitudes, Perception and Preventive Behaviors for Health and Safety among College Students (건강과 안전에 대한 예방적 실천 행위에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between risk perception and attitudes and preventive behaviors among college students with poor health and safety consciousness. Methods: A survey was conducted in students at three universities in the metropolitan area from May 11 to 18, 2018. Four kinds of instruments were used for this study, questionnaires about attitudes, perception, prevention education and preventive behaviors. Results: The safety-related attitude depended on age: those aged <21 years had the best attitude. Education experience significantly affected perception. Preventive behaviors were more strongly and positively correlated with attitudes than with perception. The factor most significantly affecting preventive behaviors were attitudes to preventive health. Conclusions: To allow the students to change their awareness and behaviors related to sickness and accidents, first it is necessary to give education on a continuous basis so that they can obtain perception to cope with sickness and accidents; second, it is necessary to develop behavioral guidelines related to accidents in each area so that they can practice and make it a habit through attitudinal changes.

Effect Assessment of Safety Education in Laboratories of Department of Dental Technology Applied of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) (TPB 이론을 적용한 치기공학 전공 대학생들의 실습실 안전교육 효과 평가)

  • Objective: This study is a quasi-experimental study by nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design, performed in order to identify whether the program developed on the basis of Ajzen(1988, 1991)'s theory of planned behavior (TPB) for predicting the safety behavior of students of department of dental technology affects intention toward safety behavior and general behavior. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify whether the safety education in laboratories in which knowledge is reinforced on the basis of the TPB theory affects safety behavior. Methodology: The theoretical framework of this study was established on the basis of the TPB by Ajzen(1988, 1991). This study was performed between May 20 and December 5, 2006, and the subjects included 101 in the experimental group and 98 in the control group, a total of 199. The experimental group was educated through six 50-minute sessions (twice a week) for three weeks. The experimental group was pretested, educated, and then asked to answer the pro-questionnaire after finishing the sixth session, but the control group was free from intervention. The research tool in this study was developed by the authors with reference to the process of tool development used in Schifter and Ajzen (1985) based on Ajzen and Fishbein(1980)'s tool development guide. Results: The data were analyzed through SPSS 14.0 version. The reliability test of attitude, subjective norm, perceived norm, intention, and behavior toward safety behavior as TPB variables was calculated of Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and general characteristics and the homogeneity test of the experimental and the control groups were analyzed through t test and $X^2$ test. According to the results of the analysis, the experiment group may be higher than the control group after the safety education in the scores of attitude, the subjective norm, the perceived norm, and the intention toward safety behavior as TPB independent variables showed no significant difference, but there was significant difference in the behavior and the knowledge. Meanwhile, according to the results of the pretest and posttest, eleven items in the experimental group and two items in the control group showed significant difference in the behaviors, and twelve in the former and four in the latter were significantly different in the knowledge. Conclusion: The safety education program developed on the basis of TPB was identified to enhance safety behavior and knowledge. Therefore, the safety education program used in this study for students of department of dental technology may be utilized as database for safety education in the department of dental technology.

The relationship between safety climate and safety participation in construction industry (안전분위기와 안전참여의 관계에 대한 연구: 건설업 근로자들을 중심으로)

  • 본 연구는 산업안전에 관한 최근 연구동향이 Zohar(1980)의 안전분위기에 대한 연구를 계기로 조직특성으로서 안전분위기가 구성원들의 안전에 대한 태도와 지식에 영향을 미쳐 궁극적으로 안전사고를 영향을 미친다는 이론적 배경을 기반으로 실증분석을 실시하였다. 강원 영서지역의 건설업에 종사하는 292명의 근로자를 대상으로 실증분석을 실시한 결과 첫째로 경영층몰입, 안전교육, 예방활동은 안전참여행동에 정의 영향을 미치며, 육체적 부담은 부의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째로 안전분위기의 구성요소 중 경영층몰입, 예방활동, 안전규정과 안전참여행동의 관계는 연령에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 경영층 몰입이 안전참여행동은 미치는 영향력은 고연령층에서 더욱 긍정적임을 의미한다. 이러한 경향은 예방활동과 안전규정에 있어서도 같은 성향을 나타낸다는 것이다. 따라서 경영층몰입, 예방활동, 안전규정은 저연령층보다 상대적으로 고연령층에서 효과적임을 의미한다.

  • 이 연구는 인터넷 소비자들의 행동에 관한 연구의 일부로, 인터넷 구매자들의 구매 빈도와 그들의 인터넷에 대한 태도, 구매 동기, 인터넷 사용, 인구통계적 특성과의 관계를 살펴보았다. Georgia Institute of Technology의 Graphic Visualization and Usability Center에서 실시된 설문조사를 통해 수집된 자료를 요인분석과 회귀분석을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과. 인터넷 쇼핑에 대한 소비자들의 태도(상대적 잇점. 안전성), 인터넷 판매자에 대한 소비자들의 태도(고객 서비스). 인터넷 브라우징 빈도, 소득, 교육이 인터넷 구매자들의 구매 빈도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

Effect of Fire Safety Education Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior on the Fire Safety Behavior of Care Worker Trainees (계획된 행동 이론을 적용한 화재안전교육이 요양보호사 교육생들의 화재안전행동에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was a quasi-experimental research of a non-equivalent control group and non-synchronized design for analyzing the effects of fire safety education on care worker trainees. The subjects of the study were care worker trainees of the S Care Worker Institution: 57 trainees with 28 in the experimental group, and 29 in the control group. The research period was from May 21 to June 14, 2018 and the experiments focusing on fire safety education were performed once per week for a total of four times over the research period. The data were then analyzed using a ${\chi}^2-test$ and t-test. The results showed that fire safety education is an effective source of education for increasing the knowledge on fire safety, attitudes towards fire safety, perceived behavioral control on fire safety, behavioral intention on fire safety, and fire safety behavior in addition to being incredibly useful in practicing fire safety behaviors throughout their daily lives. On the other hand, the subjective norms on fire safety did not show any significant differences. Therefore, this paper suggests a follow-up study that should focus on analyzing the effects of the subjective norms on fire safety.

A Study on the Influence of the Perception of Personal Information Security of Youth on Security Attitude and Security Behavior (청소년의 개인정보보안 인식이 보안의도와 보안행동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the security behaviors and attitudes related with the personal information of teenagers were investigated using empirical data based on rational behavior theory and protection motivation theory. An experiment for teenagers was conducted on Excel and the statistical packages (i.e., SPSS 21.0 and SmartPLS2.0.M3) to see how self-efficiency, security attitude, security intention and individual innovation affect their security behaviors. The experimental results showed that the security behaviors and attitudes of teenagers between internet and information devices are closely related, and the social influences can affect personal self-efficacy and security attitudes. Finally, we can know that teenagers should recognize the importance of security and protect their personal information safely through continuous education and training so that they can be linked to security behaviors.
