According to the rapid increase of foreign immigrants, South Korea recently has grown more and more interested in the acceptance of cultural diversity in diverse fields at the whole society. Korea Library Association also has sought the way of multicultural service for foreign immigrants in libraries and many previous researches has suggested those. This paper examines the ways in which small community library functions for foreign immigrants, analyzing on the case of multicultural library located in Wongok-dong, Ansan-si, where about 80% population of residents are foreign immigrants. Ansan multicultural library has two functions in the community. One is the educational place for helping immigrants' settlement and adaptation of South Korea. The other is the cultural place for social integration between immigrants and South Koreans based on mutual understanding and communication. Ultimately this paper shows how values small library in the community has significantly for foreign immigrants.

The volcanic stratigraphy and geochemistry of the Cretaceous volcanic rocks in the southern part of the Pusan showed that the volcanic rocks of the study area consist of alternating pyroclastic rocks and andesitic lavas, apparently constituting a thick volcanic sequence of a stratovolcano. The andesitic rocks contain augite, plagioclase, and hornblende as phenocrysts. Matrix minerals are augite, magnetite, hornblende, apatite. Mafic minerals, such as chlorite, epidote, sericite, and iron oxides occur as alteration products. Dacitic volcanic breccia and rhyolitic welded ash-flow tuff locally overlie the andesitic rocks. The rocks reported in the previous studies as andesitic breccia and andesite plot in the field of basalt, basaltic andesite, andesite, dacite and rhyolite, based on their chemical compositions. The volcanic rocks of the study area belong to the calc-alkaline series, and the andesitic rocks which are predominant in the area plot to the field of orogenic andesite.

Charateristics of Ansan and Boryong coal fly ashes collected at different seasons were investigated for the recycling them as ceramic raw materials. The effect of pH treatment on the classification of Ansan coal fly ashes by elutriation was discussed. Charateristics of ansan and boryong coal fly ashes were not significantly changed with power plants and seasons. major crystalline phases were mullite and quartz. These results suggested that coal fly ashes cab be used as raw materials instead of clay minerals. However, particle size distribution was very broad from a few $\mu\textrm{m}$ to over $100\;\mu\textrm{m}$. Especially, ansan coal fly ashes have various morphologies. Therefore, coal fly ashes should be classified before using as raw materials. Because of higher dispersion by pH treatment, spherical cenospheres were mainly collected in the 4th step and particle size distribusion was also decreased by elutriation for the ansan coal fly ashes. The specific surface area of the sample collected in the 4th step was $1.24\;m^{2}/g$ which was smaller than that of not treated Ansan coal fly ashes.

지난 10여년간 한국 사회는 급격한 속도로 세계화라는 변화를 경험하고 있다. 이 변화 중의 하나가 '외국인 노동자의 급증'이라는 현상이다. 지난 90년대 초부터 등장하기 시작한 외국인 노동자들은, 그 수가 급속도로 증가하면서, 외국인 노동자들의 집단거주지 까지 생기기 시작하였다. 하지만, 외국인 노동자의 유입과 관련된 사회적 변화들은 한국 사회의 세계화를 언급할 때, 흔히 '잊혀지는'(forgotten) 부분이다. (중략)

경기도 안산시, 시흥시, 화성군 일원에 위치한 시화호는 1994년 12.7 km에 달하는 방조제 끝막이 공사의 완료로 55.6 $\textrm{km}^2$의 인공호로 조성되었다. 그러나 용지확보의 측면에서 개발된 시화호는 방조제 공사의 완료로 외해와 단절되면서 수체가 정체되고, 인근 지역의 개발로 오염물질의 유입이 증가하여 수질이 급속히 악화되었다(수자원공사, 1996). (중략)

세계 최대 시설용량이며, 국내최초인 조력발전소의 마무리공정이 한창 진행되고 있는 대역사의 현장을 지난 17일 오후 2시에 찾았다. 짭쪼름한 바닷내음이 점차 진해진다 싶을 때 시야에 들어온 '청정 무공해 전력생산기지' 시화조력발전소. 발전소는 경기도 안산시 오이도와 대부도 사이를 잇는 길이 11.2Km 시화방조제 중간(작은 가리섬)에 위치한 가운데 본격가동의 카운트다운을 준비하고 있다. 지난 4월 10호기를 시작으로 6개월간에 걸친 각종 설비기능시험 등을 거쳐 오는 11월 상업운전을 통해 본격적인 전기 생산에 돌입할 예정인 시화조력발전소의 건설 의미와 주요시설 및 설비구성, 그리고 준공에 따른 기대효과 등을 조망해 본다.
