근업시간과 눈 피로도와의 관련성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Relationship between Near Work and Eye Fatigue)

  • 본 연구는 젊은 성인에서 근업시간에 따른 눈 피로도의 정도를 파악하고, 시각적 불편함의 종류를 분석하였다. 평균 연령 25.37세의 347명(남 142명, 여 205명)을 대상으로 눈 피로도와 관련 요인에 대해 설문하였다. 눈 피로도는 Conlon 등이 개발한 시각적 불편함에 관한 설문 도구를 이용하였고, 근업시간은 일일 컴퓨터와 스마트폰 사용을 조사하였다. 대상자의 눈 피로도는 근업시간이 2시간미만, 2~4시간, 4~6시간, 그리고 6시간 이상일 때 각각 $13.65{\pm}7.11$점, $16.83{\pm}6.77$점, $18.88{\pm}6.60$점, 그리고 $18.83{\pm}5.62$점으로 증가하였다(p=0.001). 또한 근업시간에 따라 두통(p<0.030)과 함께 다시 읽기(p<0.036), 안구운동과 탈색(p<0.001)과 같은 시각활동에서 불편함을 느꼈다.

잡파가 섞인 뇌파의 비선형 및 독립성분 분석 (Nonlinear and Independent Component Analysis of EEG with Artifacts)

  • 뇌 기능의 연구수단으로써 널리 사용되고 있는 뇌파(Electroencephalogram, EEG)는 측정시에 노이즈(noise)나 잡파(artifact)가 섞여서 측정되기 쉽다. 본 연구에서는 뇌파에 포함된 잡파들을 분리하기 위해서 독립성분분석(ICA)을 뇌파신호에 적용하였다. 먼저 정상인의 안구운동(Eye Movement)과 관련된 잡파가 나타나는 뇌파 신호에 대해서 독립성분분석을 적용하여 소스로 추정되는 각각의 독립성분들을 분리해 내었다 분리된 신호에 대하여 잡파로 보이는 신호를 제거하고 재구성된 뇌파 신호와 잡파가 제거되기 전인 원래의 신호에 대하여 각각 상관차원(correlation dimension) 및 리아프노프 지수(Iyapunov exponent)등과 같은 비선형 분석법을 적용하여 두 신호의 유의한 차이점을 밝히고, 분리된 독립 신호들의 해부학적 발생위치 및 분포를 추정하였다. 시각적으로 복잡한 뇌파신호에 대하여 독립성분분석을 통하여 뇌 활동의 시각적, 공간적 분석이 가능함을 나타내었을 뿐만 아니라 비선형 분석을 통한 뇌파 신호의 정량적 분석을 통하여 시각적으로 복잡한 뇌파의 유의미한 변화를 관찰할 수 있었다.

안구운동 프로그램 적용이 노인의 정적 균형에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Eye Movement Program Applied to Elderly People on Static Balance)

  • Background: To evaluate the influences of Eye movement program applied to elderly people on static balance. Methods: The subjects consisted of fourteen elderly people. The subjects were divided into two group. The control group (n=7) received no exercise and/or stimulation. The Eye movement program training (E/P) group (n=7) performed balance training using word card and batom. E/P group were accomplished during 4weeks (5 day/week, 60 min/day). All tests were completed before and after experiment. The static balance ability was measured by normal standing when eye open and close on good balance system, respectively. For each case, the experimental data were obtained in 3 item; mean X speed, mean Y speed and velocity moment. Results: The result of this study were as follows: 1. In E/P group, the statistically significants were shown on only mean Y speed in the case of normal standing when eye open (p<.05), but the statistically significants were not shown on mean X, Y speed and velocity moment in the case of normal standing when eye close (p>.05). 2. In control group, the statistically significants were not shown on all posture (p>.05). 3. There was a statistically significant difference on the mean Y speed and velocity moment in the case of normal standing when eye open between control group and E/P group (p<.05). Conclusions: The above results revealed that balance training using Eye movement program were partly effective for improving the static balance ability.

주행 중 네비게이션 조작 상황에서 주행속도와 네비게이션 위치에 따른 운전행동 및 안구운동 특성 (The Characteristics of Driving Behavior and Eye-Movement According to Driving Speed and Navigation-Position while Operation of the Navigation in Driving)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine drivers' driving behaviors and eye-movements according to driving speed and navigation- position while operation of the navigation in driving. For this purpose, two driving conditions (low-speed and high-speed) and two navigation-positions (top and bottom location of the center console) were set. Drivers' driving behaviors (speed, speed variation, coefficient of variation, and the number of collisions) and eye-movements (overall eye pattern, the average scanning time of navigation, and the number of gaze-out on the road for more 2 seconds) were measured. As a result, when the navigation was located at the bottom of the console, difficulties of lateral control was appeared in low-speed driving condition, and the that of longitudinal control was appeared in high-speed driving condition. In addition, above situation made the drivers' scanning times of navigation long, increased the number of gaze-out on the road for more 2 seconds, and made overall eye pattern monotonous. These results could be interpreted that the manipulation of the navigation at the bottom of console cause reduced attention capacity due to the cognitive load.

전침을 활용한 안검하수와 안구운동마비를 동반한 편두통환자의 치험 1례 (A Clinical Study on the Case of Ophthalmoplegic Migraine Treated with Electroacupuncture)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this case was to investigate the effectiveness of electroacupuncture for ophthamoplegic migraine. Methods : We provided electroacupuncture therapy and prescribed oriental medicine, Joganiknoe-tang daily. We measured patient's pain by VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and eye movement with a ruler every five days. Results & Conclusions : Any patient who has a headache with paresis of the extraocular muscle should be considered for ophthalmoplegic migraine. To diagnose ophthalmoplegic migraine, family history, past medical history, associated symptoms and signs, neurologic examinations and neuroimaging tests are needed. The symptoms of patient improved gradually within 26days from the first day of admission, and we can see her complete recovery.

  • ■ Objectives The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) on a patient with abnormal eye movement. ■ Methods A patient with abnormal eye movement of limbs diagnosed with midbrain infarction was treated with herbal medication, acupuncture, moxa, and herbal medical injection. Then we evaluated the improvement by measuring range of eye movement. ■ Results Increase of range of eye movement and improvement of symptom of diplopia were observed after the TKM treatment. ■ Conclusion This study proved the effect of TKM treatment on abnormal eye movement due to midbrain infarction.

Tolosa-Hunt Syndrome으로 인한 통증성 안구운동 장애 치험 1례 (A Case of Painful Ophthalmoplegia Patient Diagnosed as Tolosa-Hunt Syndrome)

  • ■ Objectives The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine(KM) on a patient with Tolosa-Hunt syndrome. ■ Methods We treated a 58 years old male patien t with Tolosa-Hunt syndrome who had several clinical symptoms such as ocular pain, limitaion of ocular movement and unilateral ptosis. We used herbal medication, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture(EA), cupping, moxibustion, bee-venom injection. Then we evaluated the improvement by Numerical Rating scale(NRS), Distance of eye opening and ratio of pupil movement. ■ Results We demonstrated the decrease of pain score and improvement of equal ocular movement(EOM) and ptosis after the KM treatment. ■ Conclusion This study proved the effect of KM treatment on Tolosa-Hunt syndrome. It could cooperative treatment would be more effective than mono treatment of western medicine.

대학생의 인지양식에 따라 거미 관찰에서 나타나는 안구 운동의 차이 - Heat map과 Gaze plot 분석을 중심으로 - (Differences in Eye Movement during the Observing of Spiders by University Students' Cognitive Style - Heat map and Gaze plot analysis -)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 시선 이동을 통해 나타나는 인지양식에 따른 관찰 특성의 차이를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 전체적 인지양식, 분석적 인지양식 집단의 관찰 사실에 차이를 보이는 관찰 과제를 개발하고, 각각의 인지양식을 가진 대학생들을 대상으로 관찰 과제를 제시했을 때 시선 이동을 측정하였다. 통계 자료와 시각화 자료를 수집하여 Fixation을 분석하였고 두 인지양식 집단의 관찰 특성 차이를 확인하였다. 이 연구에서 밝혀진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인지양식에 따른 관찰대상 영역을 비교했을 때 전체적 인지양식 집단은 분석적 집단양식보다 거미줄 및 주위 환경을 포함하는 넓은 영역을 관찰하는 반면 분석적 인지양식 집단은 주로 거미 대상 자체에 초점을 두고 관찰한다. 둘째, 인지양식에 따른 관찰 순서와 방향을 비교했을 때 분석적 인지양식 집단은 거미 자체를 먼저 관찰한 후 주변 환경 요소로 나가는 반면 전체적 인지양식 집단은 거미와 주변 환경을 번갈아 관찰하거나 특이한 부분을 먼저 관찰하는 등 패턴이 일정하지 않다. 전체적 생김새와 부분적 생김새 관찰시 분석적 인지양식 집단에서는 일정한 방향과 연속적인 반복적 탐색이 존재하지만 전체적 인지양식 집단은 정해진 패턴 없이 눈에 띄는 속성 중심으로 관찰이 이루어진다. 이상의 연구 결과를 종합해보면 인지양식에 따라 관찰 대상, 영역, 순서, 방향에 차이가 있음을 알 수 있다. 학습자마다 다양한 관찰 결과가 나타나는 원인이 인지양식에 따라 받아 들이는 정보의 차이에 있음을 확인하였고, 본 연구의 결과는 학습자의 특성에 가장 적합한 관찰 수행을 파악하고 지도하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

한국인 조현병 환자에서CNR1 유전자의 (AAT)n 삼핵산 반복 다형성과 안구추적운동 이상에 대한 연합 연구 (No Association between (AAT)n Repeat Polymorphisms in the Cannabinoid Receptor 1 Gene and Smooth Pursuit Eye Movement Abnormality in Korean Patients with Schizophrenia)

  • Objectives According to previous studies, the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CNR1) gene could be an important candidate gene for schizophrenia. Some studies have linked the (AAT)n trinucleotide repeat polymorphism in CNR1 gene with the risk of schizophrenia. Meanwhile, smooth pursuit eye movement (SPEM) has been regarded as one of the most consistent endophenotypes of schizophrenia. In this study, we investigated the association between the (AAT)n trinucleotide repeats in CNR1 gene and SPEM abnormality in Korean patients with schizophrenia. Methods We measured SPEM function in 167 Korean patients with schizophrenia (84 male, 83 female) and they were divided according to SPEM function into two groups, good and poor SPEM function groups. We also investigated allele frequencies of (AAT)n repeat polymorphisms on CNR1 gene in each group. A logistic regression analysis was performed to find the association between SPEM abnormality and the number of (AAT)n trinucleotide repeats. Results The natural logarithm value of signal/noise ratio (Ln S/N ratio) of the good SPEM function group was $4.34{\pm}0.29$ and that of the poor SPEM function group was $3.21{\pm}0.70$. In total, 7 types of trinucleotide repeats were identified, each containing 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 repeats, respectively. In the patients with $(AAT)7$ allele, the distributions of the good and poor SPEM function groups were 18 (11.1%) and 19 (11.0%) respectively. In the patients with $(AAT)_{10}$ allele, $(AAT)_{11}$ allele, $(AAT)_{12}$ allele, $(AAT)_{13}$ allele, $(AAT)_{14}$ allele and $(AAT)_{15}$ allele, the distributions of good and poor SPEM function groups were 13 (8.0%) and 12 (7.0%), 4 (2.5%) and 6 (3.5%), 31 (19.8%) and 35 (20.3%), 51 (31.5%) and 51 (29.7%), 36 (22.2%) and 45 (26.2%), 9 (5.6%) and 4 (2.3%) respectively. As the number of (AAT) n repeat increased, there was no aggravation of abnormality of SPEM function. Conclusions There was no significant aggravation of SPEM abnormality along with the increase of number of (AAT)n trinucleotide repeats in the CNR1 gene in Korean patients with schizophrenia.

Some studies have linked the polymorphism in CHGB gene with the risk of schizophrenia. Meanwhile, smooth pursuit eye movement (SPEM) abnormality has been regarded as one of the most consistent endophenotype of schizophrenia. In this study, we investigated the association between the polymorphisms in CHGB gene and SPEM abnormality in Korean patients with schizophrenia. Methods We measured SPEM function in 24 Korean patients with schizophrenia (16 male, 8 female) and they were divided according to SPEM function into two groups, good and poor SPEM function groups. We also investigated genotypes of polymorphisms in CHGB gene in each group. A logistic regression analysis was performed to find the association between SPEM abnormality and the number of polymorphism. Results The natural logarithm value of signal/noise ratio (Ln S/N ratio) of good SPEM function group was $4.19{\pm}0.19$ and that of poor SPEM function group was $3.17{\pm}0.65$. In total, 15 single nucleotide polymorphisms of CHGB were identified and the genotypes were divided into C/C, C/R, and R/R. Statistical analysis revealed that two genetic variants (rs16991480, rs76791154) were associated with SPEM abnormality in schizophrenia (p = 0.004).
