The purpose of this research is to analyze and describe the characteristics of reading environment for the teens and their reading behavior in the U.S.A. Some researches and statistics on the reading behavior of young students in the U.S.A., the U.K. and Ireland were examined, and the reading environments for the teens in society and at schools and home were described. The development of school media centers since the 1950s and services for young adults in public libraries in the U.S.A. confirms that government, school, society and home should altogether cooperate in order to help students read more and build better reading environment for the teens.

In this paper, the plan to invigorate regional marine tourism is discussed. The southwest area of Jeonnam province is famous for its beautiful islands and seashore line which has richness and variety of marine life. A solution of tourists increment by leisure sports utilizing islands and coastline will be proposed MTB tournament held at islands that has historic backgrounds and scenic beauty and its effect on influx of tourist were tracked first. Next application of mud flats boot around seaside and connection with experience program of seaside village were also examined. These activities will contribute to development of marine tourism and increase of income for regional people.

This paper purports to compare the differences and similarities of social exclusions in Korea with those in the European countries, notably Germany, France, Sweden, Finland, Ireland and U.K. For this purpose, chapter two examines political and social origins of social exclusion as an alternative concept to poverty or unemployment. Chapter three discusses social exclusion paradigms of Silver(1994) in reference to welfare regime theories of Esping-Andersen(1990). Subsequently chapter four, using two artificial social exclusion indicators by principal component analysis, defines the basic nature of social exclusion of Korea in comparison with those of the six European countries. Chapter five duly concludes that social exclusions in Korea are very similar to those of liberal countries (Ireland and U.K.) in that income indicators (poverty and inequality) of Korea are much worse, whereas unemployment rate is relatively low.

The chicken major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is known to be associated with disease resistance and susceptibility to several pathogens. The microsatellite marker LEI0258 is physically located between the BG and BF of MHC region and variations near this marker have been well documented. In this report, the LEI0258 marker was used to find specific alleles for the Korean native chicken. The MHC haplotype was analyzed by PCR screening and sequencing of LEI0258 region in four different breeds including black Korean native chicken, brown Korean native chicken, Cornish and Rhode island red. The serologically same MHC haplotypes showed the differences in repeat numbers, a few indels or single nucleotide polymorphisms by sequencing analysis. Even though we could not identify specific alleles for Korean native chickens, the genotypes analyzed in these breeds can give valuable information for the relationships with disease resistance and establishment of breeding strategies for the Korean native chicken.

As media become diversified, animation fields are being expanded. Various types of animations which were not seen in the past have appeared and the fields which did not have a suffix of "animation" now use the words of animation like motion graphic-animation or interactive-animation. This thesis is a comparative analysis study of U.S. animation education. This study collected and reviewed respective curricula of total 5 universities such as Academy of Art University, California Art of Institute), Ringling College of Art and Design, Rhode Island School of Design, and School of Visual Arts which have led U.S. animation education since animation education was first introduced in 1961. Based on the result drawn from the analysis on the classification of animation curricula into a required subject, an elective subject, liberal arts, a theory subject and a practical subject, it intends to consider improvements of Korean animation curriculum.

The purpose of this study was to bring together evidence of the operation and impact of legislation to prohibit age discrimination in those countries that have such laws. We identified 5 countries with extensive age discrimination legislation: the US, Canada, Australia, Finland and Republic of Ireland. The objectives and cultural context of age discrimination lesgislation, which plays a large part in each country determining what type of lesgislation is deemed to be appropriate. The effeciveness or impact of the legislation, in terms of progress towards these objectives. Some key issues where choices of emphasis will need to be made in the introduction of new legislation to reduce age discrimination.

This research approach is different from the existing definition of Tropical House. It was derived from an electronic music genre (deep house, chill out, dance hall). However, this study explains that Tropical House contains elements of other art forms as well as electronic music. These are the elements of Ireland's traditional music (Celtic music). This study explains why the fusion of Tropical House and Celtic music was easy. And it shows that elements of Celtic music are included in Tropical House through eight popular songs. It can be confirmed that the melody, harmony, rhythm, singing method, instrumentation, and structure of Tropical House are intertwined with the elements of Celtic music. The key point of this research is to suggest that Celtic musical elements are found in the Tropical House genre. In addition, creators need to pay attention to various types of music, including traditional music from around the world. It is suggested that creators need to think about how to combine today's music with various other genres to create original music.

Critical infrastructures (energy, information technology and communications, banking, transportation, public government services, etc.) are now more vital to modern society. Citizens, businesses and governments all rely on an array of interlinked physical and information infrastructures to satisfy their needs and perform their daily operations. At the same time, these infrastructures are becoming increasingly interdependent, such that failure of one of them can often propagate and result in domino effects. Recent dramatic episodes, from 9/11 to the Madrid train bombings, the April 2010 ash cloud the power cuts in Korea in 2011, and the cyber-attacks have highlighted the need for a comprehensive, internationally coordinated policy for the protection of critical infrastructures. For the purposes of this report, we define critical infrastructure as infrastructure whose failure would result in substantial damage to society and/or the economy.

An 11-year-old, Shorthorn cow, reared near Gort Co. Galway, Ireland, needed assistance to calve. The cow became a downer on that day postpartum (pp). Injection-acupuncture with dexamethasone was used at lumbo-sacral space, GB30, ST36, GB31, BL40, ST40 and ST41. In addition, modified moxibustion was received at session 1. At session 2, the cow could not stand. At session 3, the cow tried to stand twice by herself but fell down again each time. However, she stood up with slight help on 10 days pp. The present patient was a case with downer cow syndrome which showed improvement of clinical symptoms by injection-acupuncture with dexamethasone plus modified moxibustion.

It is recognized universally that international cultural exchanges have the potential to weaken ethnic rivalries and conflicts and promote cultural diversity rather than commercial interests. However, there are often cases in which these exchanges are transformed into private businesses with a great success in markets due to changes in cultural consumption patterns. This research aims to analyze the performance of international cultural exchanges and to develop a policy model that can guide the overseas market performance for Korean traditional performing arts. This study analyzes domestic and foreign cases for comparison. The domestic case is drawn from the research report published by Korea Arts Management Service and the foreign case is Ireland's Riverdance. The results of this study indicate that the policy political model in which a traditional culture may be translated globally with innovative performing activities has the potential to raise market performance overseas.
