A Case Study of the Use of iPad Application in Fashion Design Education (패션디자인 교육의 아이패드 어플케이션 활용 사례)

  • In today's modern society, along with the 4th industrial revolution, digitalization is rapidly progressing from everyday life to the entire industry. In the field of education, support is being provided at the government level, such as the dissemination of digital devices to create a digital educational environment, and the use of digital devices is remarkably increasing at the level of individual students as well. In the fashion design education field of universities, the number of students using tablet PCs and applications such as iPads is increasing and the scope of its application is expanding, from design concept setting and idea generation to design sketches in the early fashion design process, as well as diagramming and portfolio work. For fashion design sketching, it was found that students mainly use Procreate or Clip Studio applications with iPad. Therefore, by identifying the differentiated functions and characteristics of Procreate and Clip Studio, and examining design sketch examples using them, the possibility of effective use of iPad applications was presented and problems were also examined. Through this study, it is intended to provide basic data for fashion design education that can increase students' interest and achievement by using the iPad application.

Improvement of Attention and Short-term Memory of Mild Dementia Using iPad Applications: A Single Case Study (아이패드를 이용한 경도 치매 노인의 주의집중력과 단기 기억력 증진 : 단일대상연구)

  • Objective : This study was conducted to investigate the effects of iPad applications on improvement of attention and short-term memory in mild dementia. Methods : A single-case experimental study using A-B-A design was conducted. A total of 20 sessions, including 5 each for baseline phase A and A' and 10 for the intervention phase, were provided to the subject. Interventions were only provided during the intervention phase and were iOS-based iPad applications named "Memorado-Moving Balls" and "Circles." "Fit Brains-Matching Pairs" and "Fit-Brains-Spot the Difference" were used for each session to evaluate attention and short-term memory. MMSE-K, K-TMT-e A and B, and DST assessment tools were used pre- and post-intervention to assess attention and memory. Result : Fit Brains scores indicated improvement in both attention and memory during the intervention phase. K-TMT-e A showed 3 increased correct points and 3 reduced error points, and B showed 7 increased correct points and 2 reduced error points in post-tests, but the DST and MMSE-K showed no meaningful change. Conclusion : This single-case study identified improvements in attention and short-term memory in a person with mild dementia using iPad applications. Further studies regarding different applications and larger samples with long-term designs are necessary.

A Research Review on Usage of Smart Learning for Elementary Students with Learning Disabilities (초등 학습장애학생을 위한 스마트러닝 활용 연구 고찰)

  • The purpose of this paper is to review recent articles on applying smart learning for elementary students with learning disabilities. The search procedures through the Web-database system were implemented to find the proper research. Finally, a total of 10 articles met the criteria and were included in this review. Each study was analyzed according to the categories of the population, setting, research design, and intervention. The results indicated that research design implemented as case study and single subject design. Results founded strategies applying smart learning leaned too much towards using the skill-based application as learning contents. Based on analysis results, considerations for smart learning for elementary students with learning disabilities were suggested.
