In sensor network, the importance of transporting data with reliability is growing gradually to support communications. Data flow from sink to nodes needs reliability for the control or management, that is very sensitive and intolerable, however relatively, data flow from nodes to sink is tolerable. In this paper, with emphasis of the data flow from sink to nodes, we proposed the mechanism that establishes confidence interval for transport. Establishing confidence interval hop-by-hop, not end to end, if errors happen or there's missing data, this mechanism recovers them with selective acknowledgement using fixed window. In addition, this mechanism supports traffic congestion control depending on the buffer condition. Through the simulation, we showed that this mechanism has an excellent performance for error recovery in sensor network.

This paper proposes an algorithm that forms the clusters on the basis of hop distance in order to improve the actor coverage and connectivity in the sink-based wireless sensor and actor networks. The proposed algorithm forms the clusters that are distributed evenly in the target area by electing the CHs(Cluster Heads) at regular hop intervals from a sink. The CHs are elected sequentially from the sink in order to ensure the connectivity between the sink and the actors that are located on the CHs. Additionally, the electing are achieved from the area of the higher rate of the sensors density in order to improve the actor coverage. The number of clusters that are created in the target area and the number of the actors that are placed on the positions of the CHs are reduced by forming the clusters with regular distribution and minimizing the overlap of them through the proposed algorithm. Simulations are performed to verify that the proposed algorithm constructs the actor network that is connected to the sink. Moreover, we shows that the proposed algorithm improves the actor coverage and, therefore, reduces the amount of the actors that will be deployed in the region by 9~20% compared to the IDSC algorithm.

In wireless sensor networks(WSNs), the studies that support sink mobility without global position information exploit a Backbone-based Virtual Infrastructure (BVI) which considers one-hop clusters and a backbone-based tree. Since the clusters of a sink and a source node are connected via flooding into the infrastructure, it causes high routing cost. Although the network could reduce the number of clusters via multi-level clusters, if the source nodes exist at nearest clusters from the cluster attached by the sink and they are in different branches of the tree, the data should be delivered via detour paths on the tree. Therefore, to reduce the number of clusters, we propose a novel multi-hop cluster based communication protocol supporting sink mobility without global position information. We exploit a rendezvous cluster head for sink location service and data dissemination but the proposed protocol effectively reduces data detour via comparing cluster hops from the source. Simulation shows that the proposed protocol is superior to the existing protocols in terms of the data delivery hop counts.

Sensors have limited resources in sensor networks, so efficient use of energy is important. Representative clustering methods, LEACH, LEACHC, TEEN generally use direct transmission methods from cluster headers to a sink node to pass collected data. If clusters are located at a long distance from the sink node, the cluster headers exhaust a lot of energy in order to transfer the data. As a consequence, the life of sensors is shorten and re-clustering is needed. In the process of clustering, sensor nodes consume some energy and the energy depletion of the cluster headers meet another energy exhaustion. A method of transferring data from cluster headers to the sink using neighbor clusters is needed for saving energy. In this paper, we propose a novel routing method using a multi-hop transmission method in cluster sensor networks. This method uses the topology matrix which presents cluster topology. One-hop routing and two-hop routing are proposed in order to increase the energy efficiency.

A continuous object is large phenomenon diffusing continuously. Therefore, a large number of sources is a major problem in researches for continuous object. Existing studies for continuous object detecting focus on reducing communication cost generated by the sources. But, they only deal with the static sink located in fixed position. In this paper, we propose the location update scheme for mobile sinks in continuous object detecting. Generally, to receive data, a mobile sink should notice its current location to sources. Previous studies for location update of mobile sinks consider individual object. So they need a lot of energy for location update when a mobile sink notices its current location toward many sources of a continuous object independently. Proposed scheme exploits regional locality of the sources involved one continuous object. The regional locality makes the location update of mobile sinks efficient. Our simulation results show that the proposed scheme superior to existing schemes in terms of energy efficiency.
