The associations between dietary behavior and subjective measurements of serious dental diseases in nursing home staff (일부 병원종사자의 식행동과 주관적 중대 구강병과의 연관성)

  • Objectives : The objective of this study is to determine the associations between dietary behaviour and subjective measurements of dental caries and periodontal disease in a cohort of nursing home staff. Methods : A self-reported survey was carried out in 280 nursing home staff in Jeollabukdo Province, Korea. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS Version 19.0 program. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the effects of dietary behavior and food intake on subjective measurements of the two serious dental diseases. Results : The irregular meal tended to increase dietary imbalance and periodontal diseases in the nursing staff. For example, it had influences on the imbalance of sugar, vegetable, and safood intake. Conclusions : It is important to take regular meal because irregular eating behavior tended to increase dietary imbalance and periodontal diseases in the nursing staff.

A Survey of Sedation Practices in the Korean Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program (한국 소아치과 전문의 수련과정의 진정법 실태조사)

  • Background: Recently the use of sedation by pediatric dentists in Korea is increased. This study describes training programs about sedation practices in Korean pediatric dentistry residency program. Methods: A questionnaire was filled in by participants of Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry on 17th-18th August, 2008. Also the data about sedation practices of the training institution is collected by phone call. Results: Seventy two percent of respondents used sedation. Most of them used sedation with agents under 25% of their patients. Distribution of ages in patients sedated with agents was 3 years, 4-5 years, under 2 years, 6-10 years, and more than 10 years. Determinative factors of using sedation were behavior management, number of visiting, amount of treatment and general condition, and oral route was the most favorable route. Sixty six percent of them have failed on sedation, and thity percent of them have rarely failed on sedation. Only fifty percent of dentists using sedation completed the cardiopulmonary resuscitation course. Conclusions: For safety, dentists using sedation need to be educated about emergency equipment and management. Especially medication dose, use frequency and the detail related to treatment procedure should be discussed carefully. Also putting a patient under general anesthesia and taking emergency measures should be discussed with Korean Dental Society of Anesthesiology.

  • The purpose of the review article was to summarize and discuss the available information concerning the effect of bleaching on human teeth and reduced treatment on negative influence. Tooth bleaching effect was differ from extent of concentration and application period of a tooth bleaching agent, certainly full knowledge prior treatment about adverse effect possible appearance and follow clinical treatment for the least reduce. It remains unclear in how far those observation may result in significant adverse effect under clinical conditions. Nevertheless, further investigation are necessary to elucidate these aspect more precisely. The findings of the study were as follows : 1. It is recommended to delay placement of restorations after termination of bleaching therapy for at least 1-3 weeks. 2. Reduced negative influence that is clinical feasibility of catalase in protecting bleached surface against Oxygen radical. 3. The residual peroxide in tooth after bleaching seems to be removed by gradual diffusion and it may be possible to eliminate the adverse effect on tooth by using water displacement solution, ethylalcohol and aceton including it for effective removal of free radical oxygen.

The Change of Salivary and Oral Bacteria Amount by Composition of SLS Contents of Toothpaste (세치제내 SLS함유에 따른 타액과 세균변화)

  • Dentifrices comtaining SLS of 2.2% and 0.0% were applied to 60 subjects for 4 weeks in this study. Dentifrice is used for salivary and oral bacteria amount change according to its SLS contents in toothpaste. The results were as follows. Anaysis of LSL contents befor and after the after experiment in salivary and bacterial count oral cavity didn't show significant difference in time interval. There was no correlation between salivary flow rate and bacterial count in the oral cavity according to content of SLS. Dentifrice of 2.2% content satisfied the subjects much more than that of 0.0% content(p<0.001).

  • 그래픽스 기술의 발전에 따라 캐릭터 애니메이션에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이에 사용자의 환경이나 실세계 환경에 상호작용 하면서 지능적으로 동작하는 캐릭터 애니메이션이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문은 사용자와 상호작용 하는 과정에서 사용자의 감정상태를 파악하고, 이에 대응하는 적절한 행동을 할 수 있는 캐릭터의 생성에 대한 연구이다. 본 논문에서는 캐릭터에 대하여 자동적(autonomous)이고 상호적인(interactive) 애니메이션을 전제로 하는 감성 캐릭터 애니메이션 시스템을 설계한다. 특히 캐릭터에 감성을 부여하기 위하여 OCC모델을 바탕으로 하여 시스템을 설계하였다.

DENTAL FEAR AND ANXIETY OF JUVENILES IN SOME AREAS OF GYEONGGI PROVINCE (경기도 일부 지역 청소년들의 치과공포 및 불안에 대한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to measure the fear and anxiety levels of some middle school students in Gyeonggi Province, to analyze the relevant factors, to seek how to alleviate such fear and anxiety and thus enable to make a comfortable and efficient oral management. Six hundred twenty two middle school students in Gyeonggi Province participated in the survey, which used the data of 614 respondents, i.e. 337 males and 277 females. A frequency analysis was conducted to determine the distribution of answers for each question, a crosstabulation analysis was performed to verify the gender differences in answer and an Mann-whitney U test was used to compare fear scores. According to the results patients feared even in unexpected circumstances. In addition, they feared when receiving direct treatment. In terms of gender, female students showed higher levels of fear than male ones (p<0.05).

  • The dentists often encouter a child who can not be treated with traditional behavior management technique. Mentally or physically handicapped child could receive proper dental care under general anesthesia. General anesthesia for dental care can be done in an outpatient surgery or inpatient surgery depending on the patient. In outpatient surgery, the patient is admitted and discharged the same day. Postoperative care and discharge procedure are abbreviated. Advantages of outpatient surgery are much less emotional disturbance of patients, reduced risk of nosocomial infection and less cost of treatment. A case of a physically handicapped patient treated under general anesthesia at Day Surgery Center is presented and the procedure and patient selection of outpatient surgery as well as its limitation is reviewed in this paper.

  • In this research, we would like to understand the measures to be taken in the event of a patent dispute by Chinese companies that are growing rapidly and competing with Korean companies in the global market, at a time when the fusion and compounding technology are accelerating. For this reason, the patent dispute countermeasures shown in the previous research were derived through deep interviews with experts, and a questionnaire survey was conducted with patent practitioners of Chinese companies. As a result of the analysis, the importance of cross licensing, patent invalidation proceedings, proceedings through collaboration with other companies, royalty payments, and patent invalidation proceedings in the case of a patent dispute in the Chinese industry is high. Shown. The results of this study provide practical guidelines to help corporate patent practitioners understand the best course of action in the event of a patent dispute, respond in a timely manner, and save time and money. It seems that it can be done.

Perceptional Gap Analysis on Business satisfaction between Dentist and Dental Hygienist (치과의사와 치과위생사의 업무만족에 대한 인식 차이분석)

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the perception of dentist and dental hygienist of Interprofessional cooperation, to identify factors influencing dentist and dental hygienist satisfaction with their cooperation. The data were collected with a questionnaire for this study from 6 April, 2009 to 27 April 2009. Data were analyzed using SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) WIN 12.0 Program to determine the perception of dentist and dental hygienist of Interprofessional cooperation and predicting factors on their satisfaction. The result shows that dental hygienist is recognized that degree of depression which is caused by dentist's condemnation and by dental hygienist's condemnation rather than dentist. On the other hands, dentist is recognized that the importance of interprofessional cooperation and mutual trust between dentist and dental hygienist.
