The aim of this study was to analyze cohesion and word information among different types of questions in the English reading section of the College Scholastic Ability Tests (CSAT). The types of questions were divided into three categories: macro reading, micro reading, and indirect writing. Reading texts from 1994 to 2017 CSAT were analyzed by Coh-Metrix, an automated evaluation program of text and discourse. The findings of this study indicated that there were statistical differences among the three categories of questions for noun overlap, stem overlap, adversative and contrastive connective, additive connective, pronoun incidence, age of acquisition, concreteness for content word, imagability, and meaningfulness. The information of the findings bore pedagogic implications for developing textbooks, questions for CSAT, and reading strategies by students.

Pemphigus vulgaris is a chronic autoimmune intraepithelial blistering disease with oral mucosal manifestations that very often precede the skin lesions. The vesicles or bullae are produced by an acantholytic process, detachment of differentiating keratinocytes from one another in the epithelial stratum spino sum or spinous cell layer. The pathogenesis of this disease is initially manifested by IgG(mainly) binding to desmosome(desmoglein 3 or 1) in the intercellular spaces of epithelium. This autoantibody binding caused the release of a plasminogen activator(a proteolytic enzyme) from keratinocytes. This ultimately results in cell to cell separation. The mainstay therapy of pemphigus vulgaris is systemic corticosteroids and immunosuppressive agents to eliminate the pathogenic autoantibodies from circulation. A 41-year old woman presented with a 1.5 year history of oral ulceration. There were no lesions on the skin or other mucosal sites. Histology and immunostaining were consistent with pemphigus vulgaris. Control of oral ulceration and normal oral function were achieved after systemic corticosteroids and immunosuppressive agents were instituted.

Purpose: Pemphigus vulgaris, a rare autoimmune blistering disease of the skin and mucous membranes remains a challenging disease to treat. Management is focused on immunotherapy against autoimmune antibodies that target keratinocyte cell adhesion molecules, and antibiotics preventing secondary infections. There is no established dressing protocol and skin is usually manipulated the least amount possible in order to minimize irritation. The authors suggest that early initiation of aggressive bathing and debridement of skin lesions, with nutritional support, is essential in accelerating resolution. Methods: A 40 year-old male previously diagnosed with pemphigus vulgaris was admitted due to exacerbation of mucocutaneous lesions involving the epidermis and mucosa of the whole body. Steroids, immunosuppressants, intravenous immunoglobulin and antibiotics were administrated, but infection and de-epithelialization progressed, while his general condition deteriorated with a weight loss of over 20 kilograms. The plastic surgery department intervened with daily bathing, debridement of unhealthy debris and non-traumatizing coverage of growing epithelium. Total parenteral nutrition and mobilization with rehabilitation therapy was initiated as early as possible. Results: After bathing, healthy epithelium gradually covered the patient's entire body, while his general condition improved with a corresponding weight gain of 14 kgs. Conclusion: Treatment of pemphigus vulgaris focuses on immunotherapy and infection control. However, an equal amount of attention should be laid on early intervention with daily dressings including bathing and irrigation, nutritional support, and exercise as this accelerates resolution of existing infections, promotes healthy epithelialization and leads to faster recovery.

The majority of chronic gingival ulcerative lesions are known to be due to autoimmune disease such as oral lichen planus, benign mucous membrane pemphigoid or pemphigus vulgaris. Topical or systemic corticosteroids are mainly used and adjuvant drugs like immunosuppressant, anti-inflammatory drugs, antimalarials or antimetabolites can also be prescribed. Because systemic corticosteroids causes various side effects, such as gastrointestinal disturbance, osteoporosis, diabetes or adrenal suppression. So, topical steroid therapy is main treatment for chronic gingival ulcerative lesion confined to small area. However, there's also limitation of topical corticosteroids. The effect of the corticosteroids decreases due to salivary flow and the movement of the tongue, lips, or buccal mucosa. When the lesions are widely distributed or positioned deeply in oral cavity, it is hard to apply the medication on patients' own. Moreover, it can be applied to unaffected mucosa. Although occlusive steroid therapy using stent was reported to minimize taking steroid and overcome the faults of applying topical steroids, it has been used less frequently in the clinical field. Therefore, this report is going to find out the usefulness and the way to utilize clinically through the case which acted satisfactorily by performing topical steroid therapy using stent on chronic ulcerative gingival lesions.
At what point in the process of speech production are gestures involved? According to the Lexical Retrieval Hypothesis, gestures are involved in the lexicalization in the formulating stage. According to the Information Packaging Hypothesis, gestures are involved in the conceptual planning of massages in the conceptualizing stage. We investigated these hypotheses, using the game situation in a TV program that induced the players to involve in both lexicalization and conceptualization simultaneously. The transcription of the verbal utterances was augmented with all arm and hand gestures produced by the players. Coverbal gestures were classified into two types of gestures: lexical gestures and motor gestures. As a result, concrete words elicited lexical gestures significantly more frequently than abstract words, and abstract words elicited motor gestures significantly more frequently than concrete words. The difficulty of conceptualization in concrete words was significantly correlated with the amount of lexical gestures. However, the amount of words and the word frequency were not correlated with the amount of both gestures. This result supports the Information Packaging Hypothesis. Most of all, the importance of motor gestures was inferred from the result that abstract words elicited motor gestures more frequently rather than concrete words. Motor gestures, which have been considered as unrelated to verbal production, were excluded from analysis in many gestural studies. This study revealed motor gestures seemed to be connected to the abstract conceptualization.
Objective:To review the patterns of the dermatologic consultations of psychiatric adolescent inpatient and to explore the relationship between the dermatologic disorders and psychiatric disorders. Methods:We retrospectively studied the data from 22 cases referred by psychiatric adolescent for a dermatologic consultation over 10 years in Daegu Catholic University Medical Center and compared with the data from 108 cases referred by the other department adolescent patients. Results:The mean age of patients was 15.9. The male to female ratio was 1:1.44. The most common psychiatric and dermatologic disorder was major depressive disorder and acne, respectively. The most frequent reason for consultation was to ask for dermatologic disease or condition(54.5%) followed by to perform cosmetic procedure of patients need(40.9%) and to perform dermatologic test(4.6%). Conclusions:More than just a cosmetic disfigurement, dermatologic disorders are associated with a variety of psychopathologic problems that can affect the patient. Increased understanding of biopsychosocial approaches and liaison among psychiatrists and dermatologists could be beneficial.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the potential mechanism of Artemisia capillaris Thunb. for psoriasis vulgaris. Methods : We conducted the network pharmacological analysis. It contains the process that search the compounds of the herb, the target proteins of the compounds, related genes of psoariasis vulgaris and the pathway/terms of the common protein lists between psoriasis vulgaris and Artemisia capillaris Thunb.. Results : 13 compounds and 30 protein targets of Artemisia Capillaris Herba were searched. And 997 psoriasis-related genes were searched. The common proteins were 11, and the core genes were 3; AKT1, CASP3, MAPK8. The related pathway/terms of 11 proteins were analyzed. ω-hydroxylase P450 pathway(60%), nitric oxide(NO) biosynthetic process(20%) were resulted. Also, 19 proteins of Artemisia Capillaris Herba were analyzed, and sterol homeostasis(78.95%), sterol biosynthetic process(15.79%), Type 2 diabetes mellitus(5.26%) were resulted. Conclusion : The Artemisia Capillaris Herba can potentially act through the ω-hydroxylase P450 pathway and nitric oxide(NO) biosynthetic process for psoriasis. Also, the metabolism of sterol biosynthesis and homeostasis can be involved in a roundabout way for psoriasis.

The authors surveyed the inhabitants of a rural area to assess the patterns of medical utilization on dermatoses. Seven hundred and sixty new outpatients of dermatoses were examined and surveyed with formed questionnaire from March 1997 to February 1999. The results are as follows; 1. Among 760 new outpatients, the number of male patients was 283(37.2%) and that of female patients was 477(67.3%). 2. The most common dermatoses was Tinea pedis(34.9%), and follows senile pruritus, contact dermatitis, housewife eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, numular dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, Tinea corporis, Tinea ungium, acne vulgaris, impetigo, keratolysis exfoliativa, chronic urticaria, Tinea cruris and Molluscum contagiosum in orders. 3. Drug store was the most frequent places where patients initially visited for their skin diseases(39.6%) and followed by non dermatologic clinic, dermatologic clinic and general hospital in orders. 4. One hundred and twenty one(15.9%) patients have been experienced folk treatment. It was founded that the topical vinegar application or soaking was the most common method. Many patients felt no symptom improvement after the folk treatment(48.8%). Seventeen point four percent of patient felt symptom worsened. The results of this study suggest that many of the rural inhabitants are lack of understanding on their dermatoses. So many physician who are in charge of the primary care in rural area have to pay attention to the common dermatoses and educate patients on their medical utilization.
