This clinical report shows the importance of selecting appropriate materials in fabricating laminate veneer restorations. Such cases should be carefully selected to ensure bonding durability, providing consistently reliable prognosis.

A technique is presented through clinical cases for restoring anterior teeth to enhance dental esthetics using bonded partial ceramic restorations (BPCRs) without or with minimum reduction of tooth structures. These restorations offer the advantages of the superior properties of ceramic materials and the conservative nature of a direct composite restoration at the same time.

With the rapid development of aesthetic ceramic materials and resin adhesives, the transition from metal ceramic crown to all-ceramic restoration is being actively carried out. When making porcelain restorations, the advantages can be maximized only when appropriate forms and techniques are used. Recently, an esthetic partial-coverage restoration method with supra-gingival margins was introduced by applying a minimally invasive tooth removal method that preserves enamel as much as possible and enhances adhesion efficiency. Through this, various advantages such as minimization of tooth structure removal and ease of excess cement removal can be obtained. In addition, since this manufacturing method does not require cord packing, it is possible to save time for impression taking and reduce patient discomfort. Furthermore, the margins can be clearly obtained without the intervention of gingival fluid or blood, making it possible to manufacture more accurate restorations. In the following cases of patients with partial tooth defects, esthetic ceramic partial-coverage restorations with supra-gingival margin was applied using minimally invasive tooth preparation method according to the concept of adhesive dentistry. Therefore, unnecessary tooth abutment preparation was prevented and residual tooth structure could be preserved as much as possible. After delivery of the ceramic partial-coverage restorations, favorable outcome was obtained.

Esthetic dentistry has been developed through the diverse material and technique. Approach and interest in esthetic of anteriors was driven by needs and wants of patients. Alpha and omega of esthetics is determined by patients, as Charles Pincus who is the pioneer of esthetic dentistry described in his article 1967. To meet with wants and needs of patients, dentists suggest possible various treatment options. Cosmetic grinding quoted by Pincus is one of the conservative approaches and provide effective esthetic improvement with minimal invasive concepts. In a high technology era, cosmetic grinding needs to be revisited. Review of some clinical cases shows the value and limitation of it.

Although CAD/CAM technology has been used in dentistry for more than decades, the present CAD/CAM dentistry is still quite inefficient or unesthetic. Zirconia restoration has faced with two contradictory words, 'Efficiency' and 'Esthetics'. One can consider monolithic zirconia restoration to be efficient with CAD/CAM. The monolithic zirconia restoration, however, is rarely esthetic due to the current limitations with zirconia. On the contrary, porcelain build-up is almost indispensible in fabricating esthetic restoration, especially in anterior region. In this article, the current status of monolithic zirconia restoration and clinical cases will be presented.
