Design and Implementation of Problem Based Learning in Training Ship (PBL(Problem Based Learning) 수업 방법을 활용한 실습선 수업 설계 및 운영)

  • This study suggested a process of redesigning and implementing problem based learning to enhance students' active and collaborative learning activities and learning outcomes. The results of this study are as follows. First, the ef ect of class participation, academic self-regulated learning, and academic self-efficacy were examined. As a result, first, the average of learning activity, class extension, and participation in class was high in the difference between before and after class. Second, the post average scores of all the factors except the 'evaluation' were higher than before. Third, academic self-efficacy showed a significant difference only in 'task preference'. Finally, students' satisfaction with the class was also high. The professor was also able to grasp the characteristics of individual students by designing and operating the classes using PBL, and it was confirmed that the interaction with students increased. Based on the results of this study, we discussed the limitations and educational implications of the problem based learning class and propose successful problem based learning design and operation of the classroom.

Economic analysis on the applications of shipboard LED luminaires (선박용 LED 등기구의 적용에 따른 경제성 분석)

  • This paper dealt with the economic analysis on the application of shipboard LED (Light Emitting Diode) luminaires to replace incandescent and fluorescent lamps, which account for over 80 % of light source on a training or naval vessel. The rates of savings achieved in the power consumption, initial investment, maintenance cost, and fuel cost were analyzed. The break-even points and the $CO_2$ emissions were also calculated. For the training vessel, the initial investment was increased by 3.8 times, while the maintenance cost over five years was reduced by 51 %. When 40 %, 50 %, and 60 % of luminaires were turned on, the calculated break-even points were 11 months, 9 months, and 7 months, respectively. On the other hand, the initial investment was increased by 3.5 times while the maintenance cost over five years was saved by 55 % for the naval vessel. The break-even points were calculated as 15 months, 12 months, and 10 months, respectively. Moreover, the $CO_2$ emissions of the training and the naval vessels were reduced by 69 % and 65 %, respectively. From the results, it was revealed that the maintenance cost can be reduced by more than 50 %, and that the power consumption, fuel cost, and $CO_2$ emissions can be reduced by more than 60 % if LED luminaires are used on two types of vessels.

Estimation of maneuverability of fisheries training vessel BAEK-KYUNG using numerical simulation method (수치 시뮬레이션 방법을 이용한 어업실습선 백경호의 조종성 추정)

  • Most fishing vessels are less than 100 m in length (LBP), which is not mandatory for the IMO standards for ship maneuverability. Therefore, research on estimating the maneuverability of fishing vessel hull shapes are somewhat lacking compared to that of merchant ship hull shapes, and at the design stage, the numerical simulation method developed for merchant ships are applied without modification to estimate the maneuverability. Since this can cause estimation errors, the authors have derived a modified empirical formula that can improve the accuracy of estimating the maneuverability of fishing vessels in a previous study. In this study, using the modified empirical formula, the IMO maneuverability evaluation items, the turning motion test and Z-test simulations were performed on the fisheries training vessel BAEK-KYUNG and compared with the sea trial test result to verify the validity of the modified empirical formula. In conclusion, the modified empirical formula was able to estimate quantitatively and qualitatively similar to the result of the sea trial test. Such a study on estimating the maneuverability of fishing vessels will be a good indicator for fishing vessel operators and will help them analyze marine accidents.

승선실습 품질 제고를 위한 IMO 논의동향 및 디지털 시대 효과적인 승선실습 시행 방안 개발에 관한 연구

  • 최초 해기면허 발급을 위해 필수적인 의무승선실습의 품질향상을 도모하고자 국제사회에서 다양한 방안이 모색되고 있다. 특히, 2022년 2월 개최된 IMO 제8차 인적요인, 훈련 및 당직 전문위원회(HTW)의 주요의제 중 승선실습 품질관련으로 제출된 6개 의제문서들이 중점적으로 논의되었다. 우리나라, 필리핀 및 일본 등 주요 회원국은 승선실습 품질 제고를 위한 승선실습/육상훈련의 체계적인 재분배, 훈련기록부 효율성 향상, 승선실습 품질표준 관련 지침 개발 등 다양한 방안을 제시하였다. 더욱이, 향후 심화 논의를 위한 회기간 실무작업반 개설이 승인된 바 있다. 한편, 최근 디지털 시대에 걸맞는 효과적인 승선실습 시행 방안 마련을 위한 움직임이 활발해지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 승선실습 품질 제고를 위한 IMO 논의동향을 살펴보고 디지털 시대의 효과적인 승선실습 시행방안을 소개하고자 한다.

Ship's Maneuverability & Required Number of Tug Boat in Strong Winds for the T.S. HANBADA (실습선 한바다호의 강풍시 항내 어프로칭 조선 및 예인선 사용 기준에 관한 연구)

  • T.S. HANBADA has a relatively large hull and superstructures above the water line, so she has much of leeway or turning of bow with the effect of winds. Especially on berthing, unberthing and/or sailing on low speed, these effects take place more significant. Therefore, it was carried out the numerical calculation of the wind force and moments acting on the T.S. HANBADA, and then calculated the leeway angle and counter rudder angle with the relative wind direction and velocity. Also, it was suggested the maximum wind velocity which could be berthed or unberthed used by bow thruster and the tugboat operations in strong winds. These results will be great helpful to the vessels with large superstructures on ship's handling in harbour or tugboat operations.

  • 목포해양대학교와 삼성중공업은 2021년 공동 연구를 통하여 '실습선 기반 원격/자율 운항 선박 시스템 개발 및 검증'을 수행하였고 이를 통하여 목포해양대학교 실습선인 세계로호를 활용하여 삼성중공업의 자율운항 선박 시스템(Autonomous Navigation System)인 SAS의 Test Bed 시연 실험 시스템을 구축하여 2022년 자율운항 선박(MASS) 기술 요소에 대한 시뮬레이션 기반 SAS(Samsung Autonomous Ship) System 검증 및 '운항 노선에 대한 설정을 통한 선박 자율운항 검증'을 위한 실선·실해역 실험을 통해 이를 시연 및 검증을 시행하였다. 특히 의미 있는 것은 자율운항선박 실선 테스트 과정 중 발생할 수 있는 모든 위험요소 분석을 위해 한국선급과 HAZID Workship을 실시하였고, 이를 통해 국내최초 자율운항실험용 기국 승인 및 선급임시검사 완료 후 실험이 진행되었다는 것이다. 이 연구에서는 실습선 기반 자율운항 선박 실해역 실험 연구를 소개하고 그 결과를 운항자 입장에서 분석하여 향후 보완하여야 할 사항을 제시하였다.

A study on the greenhouse gas emission from ships with training ship HANBADA (실습선 한바다호를 이용한 선박부문 온실가스 배출량 산정에 관한 연구)

  • As the seriousness of the global environment pollution is gaining our attention recently, researches on application of greenhouse gas emission of ship are being carried globally. However domestic study on greenhouse gas emission from ship was not carried out in various fields. In this study, quantitative data which was presented by greenhouse gas emission of training ship HANBADA and greenhouse gas emission was calculated by Tier 1 method based on total fuel consumption and amount of shore power. Actual voyage data for 1year in 2012 was used to analysis the greenhouse gas emission. This study showed how many weight of gases were exhausted per 1 gross tonnage and per 1trainee in the training ship. There is a need of further research to reduce pollutant and to respond to international environment regulation consistently.
