  • The purpose of this paper is to measure the clustering change and analyze empirical results, and choose the clustering ports for Busan, Incheon, and Gwangyang ports by using Hierarchical clustering(single, complete, average, and centroid), Silhouette, and 2SCE[the Second Stage(Type II) cross-efficiency] matrix clustering models on Asian container ports over the period 2009-2018. The models have chosen number of cranes, depth, birth length, and total area as inputs and container TEU as output. The main empirical results are as follows. First, ranking order according to the efficiency increasing ratio during the 10 years analysis shows Silhouette(0.4052 up), Hierarchical clustering(0.3097 up), and 2SCE(0.1057 up). Second, according to empirical verification of the Silhouette and 2SCE models, 3 Korean ports should be clustered with ports like Busan Port[ Dubai, Hong Kong, and Tanjung Priok], and Incheon Port and Gwangyang Port are required to cluster with most ports. Third, in terms of the ASEAN, it would be good to cluster like Busan (Singapore), Incheon Port (Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Perak, Manila, Tanjung Pelpas, Leam Chanbang, and Bangkok), and Gwangyang Port(Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Perak, Port Kang, Tanjung Pelpas, Leam Chanbang, and Bangkok). Third, Wilcoxon's signed-ranks test of models shows that all P values are significant at an average level of 0.852. It means that the average efficiency figures and ranking orders of the models are matched each other. The policy implication is that port policy makers and port operation managers should select benchmarking ports by introducing the models used in this study into the clustering of ports, compare and analyze the port development and operation plans of their ports, and introduce and implement the parts which required benchmarking quickly.

  • We accomplish clustering analyses for yeast cell cycle microarray expression data. We compare model-based clustering, K-means, PAM, SOM and hierarchical Ward method with yeast data. As the validity measure for clustering results, connectivity, Dunn Index and silhouette values are computed and compared.

  • We accomplish clustering analyses for yeast cell cycle microarray expression data. To reflect the characteristics of a time-course data, we screen the genes using the test statistics with Fourier coefficients applying a FDR procedure. We compare the results done by model-based clustering, K-means, PAM, SOM, hierarchical Ward method and Fuzzy method with the yeast data. As the validity measure for clustering results, connectivity, Dunn index and silhouette values are computed and compared. A biological interpretation with GO analysis is also included.

  • Cluster analysis is the automated search for groups of related observations in a data set. To group the observations into clusters many techniques has been proposed, and a variety measures aimed at validating the results of a cluster analysis have been suggested. In this paper, we compare complete linkage, Ward's method, K-means and model-based clustering and compute validity measures such as connectivity, Dunn Index and silhouette with simulated data from multivariate distributions. We also select a clustering algorithm and determine the number of clusters of Korean consumers based on Korean consumers' palatability scores for Hanwoo bull in BBQ cooking method.

  • Giant character used various SF movies and games in media convergence ages, and is essential for giant character in success contents. It This study defined giant character of SF movies and games, it analysed the eight of external characteristics and internal characteristics of giant character in SF movies and games. The external characteristics defined shape, silhouette, size and color, the internal characteristics defined fear, satanism, image and story focus, playfulness. Above, it was structured positioning model of giant character based eight characteristics and analyzation of example of SF movies and games. The elements of positioning model of giant characters are darkness, huge, abnormal, human, animal, fear, satanism, story focused, image focused and playfulness, and this study was proposed these model of elements of eight in SF movies and games.

  • Cluster analysis has proven to be a useful tool for investigating the association structure among genes and samples in a microarray data set. We applied several cluster validation measures to evaluate the performance of clustering algorithms for analyzing microarray gene expression data, including hierarchical clustering, K-means, PAM, SOM and model-based clustering. The available validation measures fall into the three general categories of internal, stability and biological. The performance of clustering algorithms is evaluated using simulated and SRBCT microarray data. Our results from simulated data show that nearly every methods have good results with same result as the number of classes in the original data. For the SRBCT data the best choice for the number of clusters is less clear than the simulated data. It appeared that PAM, SOM, model-based method showed similar results to simulated data under Silhouette with of internal measure as well as PAM and model-based method under biological measure, while model-based clustering has the best value of stability measure.

  • This article introduces Gaussian process regression and shows its application with time-course microarray gene expression data. Gene screening for yeast cell cycle microarray expression data is accomplished with a ratio of log marginal likelihood that uses Gaussian process regression with a squared exponential covariance kernel function. Gaussian process regression fitting with each gene is done and shown with the nine top ranking genes. With the screened data the Gaussian model-based clustering is done and its silhouette values are calculated for cluster validity.
