  • This study attempts to analyze the characteristics and changing trends of the interior design of modern Korean houses since 1960s and to understand the impacts of Western architecture and design. the photos of 101 houses were selected from the magazines published since 1960s. The data collected were analyzed via frequency percentage and average. The result reveals that the interior design of the living rooms in modern Korean houses has undergone lots of changes in finishing materials window treatments types of cabinets and use of lighting fixtures. It is concluded that 1960-1960s is a period of introducing Western design as a superior while 1980's is a period of exploring various ways toward harmony between Korean style and Western styles and 1990's is a period of settlement of koreanized modernism style.

  • The protection of Design is very important issues in these days. Even though Interior Design is also one of important design sections, it is relatively unprotected by formal intellectual property laws, yet creativity and innovation flourish. The needs for protection of Interior Design have been creased. The aim of this study is to suggest the weakness of the system for protection of Interior Design. The proposed research is comprised of two themes. One is to research Acts related to protection of Interior Design. The second is to study the registered cases under the Design Protection Acts. These two theme is generated by the comparative review between ROK and U.S.A. Through these comparative results, this study propose some considerations for an effective protection for Interior Design. Design need to be registered in the hole image of the space not a partial element. The concept needs to be protected because it is more effective way to respond the copying. Exterior for facade and Interior Design need to be registered in one registration to use the protection system actively.

  • This study has importance of that it verifies applicability of a new interpretation of surrealism to spatial design. Transcendental cognitive form of idealism, concept of time and space are premise of reality and surreality is finally condensed to the matter of time and space. Surrealistic techniques are automatic description, double association, montage and etc, and all of them are trials to approach to essence of images expressing unconsciousness through spatiotemporal changes of object. The purpose of this study is to find the surrealistic methods that can be applied to spatial design.

  • The recognition of emotionality becomes so important that it is called 'emotional consumption society' Emotional design, which is mostly concern about user's consensus & experiences and in the space, is appeared on commercial place. Emotional design is understanded from a interactive point of view, human and interior-space. The purpose of this study is to examine the emotional design by analysis of multiple-commercial-functioned shopping places. Specially, the most recently remarkale Jerde partnership's shopping space in Japan.

  • The quality of indoor air quality is facing a very serious situation due to the impact of the quality of the atmosphere in the atmosphere and the surrounding environment. While awareness of the danger of these populations is increasing, there is no way to detect the quality of the indoor air quality as well as the measures to detect the quality of indoor air quality as well as the countermeasures. The study drew a general problem with the design of the service design, the general purpose of the general office, and the use of the public facilities for the purpose of measuring the usage of indoor air quality, the general purpose of public facilities, and the interpretation of the current law. Based on this research, most of the general users' perception of the seriousness of the disease is not reflected in the perception that the dust and indoor air are accumulated in the eyes of the general public.

  • Modern public library is expanding its role as generalized cultural facility. Therefore public library that has comfortable and physical environment for various age and various users are needed. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the application of universal design in common space of public library, and trying to suggest environmental improvement plan that various users could comfortably use the library based on its data. The scope of this research were adjusted as 8 public libraries located in Seoul and metropolitan area of Seoul. Spacial scope that was set of this research was common space of public library and scope of content was about application of universal design. As a result of the research, first, the application of universal design toward common space of public library were appeared as low. Second, constant management and application development of universal design is needed. Third, as roles and functions of public library become various from now on, application of delicate universal design is needed for intention of users.

  • The ecological theory of perception provides the human living, and meaning integrating norm to overcome the crisis caused by an eastern belief in human-centered wrong rationality formed at the past process of modernization. Prior to the overall consideration of ecological perception theory, looked into the concepts, contribution extent and its limitation of the existing perception theories for the environmental design. By experimentally applying inferred concepts of design to department bridge space and forming the space, certified the applicability of it to the green amenity space. The site Is located in Nowon- Gu Sangge- Dong. The design was processed on the basis of survey, plants growth environment and plants characters. It is expected that this design would serve the commercial space- consumer as a symbolic, environmentally friendly space design

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a evaluation method and matching process model which derives suitable design firm for a client. Unlike the existing evaluation method, the suggested evaluation method and matching process for interior design firm allows a client specify his own needs. The evaluation methods utilizes designers experience record, past performance and customers post occupancy evaluation to derive design firms meeting clients requirements. With this method and matching process model, customers could access the design firms more efficiently and the design firms suitable for the clients needs could be suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the perceptual differences among independent elderly relative to falls risk associated with specified environmental design factors. The sample consisted of 135 independent elderly who live in Ulsan. The data were collected by utilizing questionnaire which included demographic information, and environmental design assessments accompanied by line drawings. The data were analyzed by using SAS program. The major findings were as follows: (1) There were 35(25.9%) elderly experienced fall(s) within one year and about half of the fallers fell more than once. (2) The elderly perceived lighting is the most hazardous interior design factor related to increased risk of falls. (3) There was a significant difference among age groups on perception of lighting factors and the elderly perceived floor factors differently by their perceived health status.

  • It was investigated on the logical inter-relationship with plastic thinking systems in interior space constitution. Followings were produced the conclusion of study from the plastic thinking. First of all plastic thinking could be interpreted as the stage-oriented process from various approaching by intuitional, experimental techniques through the expansion of thinking capability with linguistic activities. And also interior space constitution could be extracted from the plastic language relating with design concept, could be extracted the design element by processing on the formation process based on material's physical properties. Next, space perception and constitution should be followed the massive perception between empty and full space based on the interrelationship. Additionally the constitution of interior space could be established through axis, integrated with detail functions. Interior space constitution could be accomplished on the study of material based on the characteristics of material, planned to coincide with the space's characteristics in selection for texture.
