  • Rancidity of a soybean oil is investigated by an electrochmical method. The redox process of the soybean oil is totally irreversible and diffusion-controlled reaction. As scan rates are faster, the anodic peak potential of the soybean oil is shifted to the positive potential and the anodic current is increased. The anodic peak potentials of the soybean oil is not rarely changed up to open-42 days in the both atmosphere and room temperature. After the open times, the anodic peak potential is largely shifted to a negative direction. This indicates the oxidation of the soybean oil becomes easier. The anodic peak current of the soybean oil is decreased gradually up to open-42 days. But after the open times, the anodic peak current increases suddenly. It must be due to the formation of a carbonyl group owing to rancidity of the soybean oil.

  • A study was carried out to investigate the morphological characteristics and life histories of H. morosa and H. diomPhalia during the period from 1984 to 1986. The head capsule width and bOdy length of H. Morosa larvae were slightly greater than those of H. diomPhalia. Otherwise, the two species looked very similar and were hard to be differentiated from each other in all life stages. H. morosa adults emerged in late June and laid eggs in soil during the period between mid July and mid August. Larvae developed by September to the last(3rd) instar which overwintered to pupate in late May. H. diomPhalia adults emerged from mid August but remained under the soil until next spring after which females laid eggs in soil from late May to early July. Larvae developed in most cases to the last instar by September and overwintered thereafter. Unlike H. morosa, they resumed feeding next April and began to pupate in late July. The egg periods of H. morosa and H. diomPhalia did not significantly differ but the larval and pupal periods of the latter were longer than those of the former.

  • Nowadays , the grouted-reinforcing method, which is called FRP(Fiberglass-reinforced-plastic) pipe .reinforcing method, has been introduced in the community of pound reinforcements. The resistance to corrosion and chemical attack high strength to weight ratio, and ease of handling make these pipes a better alternative to steels in tunnel. However, to fully utilize FRP pipes as grouted reinforcing members at the face and the crown in tunnel, their mechanical properties and behaviors and the grout-reinforced underground have to be verified. Laboratory shear tests were conducted to evaluate the mechanical properties for FRP pipes, the grout-reinforced members and the grout-reinforced body of FRP pipes. According to the test results, it was observed that FRP pipes play a dominant role in shearing behavior of the grout-reinforced members and that their shearing resistance exerts after the shearing displacement increases to some extent.

  • A sand replacement method is commonly used to determine the density of the compacted soils. The density of the test or compacted soil is computed on the assumption that the calibration container has approximately the same size or volume and allows the sand to deposit approximately in the same way as a test hole in the field. The sand filling process is simulated in the laboratory and its effect on the determination of density is investigated. Artificially-made holes with different heights and bottom shapes are prepared to simulate various shapes of the test hole in the field. Three sands with different gradations are used in the testing to examine how sand grain size influences the determination of density in the field. As the height of a test hole increases, the error between known density and calculated density decreases, regardless of the types of test hole and sand used. The results of this study can be used to reevaluate and revise the test method for soil density by the sand replacement method.

  • This study investigated the safety management behavior of dental professionals to minimize exposure to harmful elements of amalgam and resin. As for the use of amalgam and resin, 85.8% of them used amalgam. 100% of used composite resin 100%. 97.8% used acryl resin, and 95.7% used tray resin. 95.2% and 36.5% of them were aware of the harm of amalgam and resin respectively. When using resin, their safety management behavior score was 1.99 on average, and the lowest score was 2.50 on average for 'ventilate the indoor air when handling resin'. Their average score of the safety management behavior was 1.83 when using amalgam. The lowest score was 2.89 on average for 'use the rubber dam for patients when handling amalgam'. As a result of the safety management behavior based on general characteristics, all characteristics were significant with regard to amalgam, and my position at work and work experience were significant with regard to resin (p<0.05). The correlation between the safety management behavior and general characteristics was analyzed when dental amalgam and resin are used. Amalgam was statistically correlated with academic background (p<0.05) and position at work (p<0.05), whereas resin was statistically significantly correlated with age (p<0.05) and position at work (p<0.05). Accordingly, education about the harm of dental materials must be continuously provided for dental professionals when they handle dental materials so that safety management behavior will be conducted correctly, and active efforts to protect the health of dental professionals from harmful chemicals must be made.

  • The purpose of this study was to estimate the chitinolytic and antifungal activity of Actinomycetes sp.isolated from waste mushroom media. In five kinds of waste mushroom media, Sinyeong mushroom and Yangsongi were the order of the population density of actinomycetes. Totally 91 chitinolytic isolates of Actinomycetes sp. were obtained from waste mushroom media. The isolates were categorized into 3 groups based on chitinolytic activity and antagonisms against Phytophthora capsici, Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Collectotrichum gloeosporioides, and Cladosporium cucumerinum in vitro. CA-23 was selected as a representative isolate of a group showing strong chitinolytic and antagonistic activities to all of the plant pathogens, while AA-65 was selected as a representative isolate showing no chitinolytic activities but strong antagonistic activities to the pathogens. CA-23 and AA-65 were highly effective on control of Phytophthora blight of hot-pepper, powdery mildew and scab of cucumber in a greenhouse tests. Among the isolates tested, CA-23 showed highest control efficacy, while AA-65 not only effectively controlled the diseases but also consistently increased plant growth and yield. Although the isolates are similarly affected on suppression of plant pathogens, the isolates could be differ from each other in modes of action. Further studies on mechanisms and practical applications are being progressed.

  • The purpose of this study was to control root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on pumpkin seedling with 10%, 20% coffee ground compost and 1% plant velvet bean powder (plain skin bean, leopard skin bean, hole plant, bean pod). Among the root-knot nematode insecticide treatments, the velvet bean plant powder was the highest mortality rate with 83.2% in greenhouse condition. In addition, the root-knot nematode second juvenile mortality significantly increased with the lapse of processing time for each concentration of leopard skin velvet bean extract in vivo. After 24 hours, the mortality rate of root-knot nematode showed the highest at 1.2% and 2.4% of leopard skin velvet bean extract. The growth promoting effect of seedlings pumpkin, 20% of coffee ground compost treatments inhibited the growth of pumpkin seedlings and 1% the tiger pattern velvet beans powder was the most to promote the growth of pumpkin seedlings. However, the results indicated that the organic materials of velvet beans and coffee ground compost are expected to be able to effectively control the root-knot nematode and further studies will be needed for the concentration and application methods.

  • The first purpose of this study is to understand the impact of the emotional intelligence of golf coaches on customer citizenship behavior. The second is to verify the moderating effects of gender roles in the relationship between emotional intelligence and customer citizenship behavior. In order to achieve the research purposes, 5 indoor and outdoor golf driving ranges were selected in Cheongju, and 318 customers were selected as the objects. SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 21.0 software was used. The following were identified as the result of the analysis. First, besides 'Emotional Control' and 'Helping Others' all four sub-factors of the golf coach's emotional intelligence had a noticeable influence on customer citizenship behavior. Second, the influence of emotional intelligence differed according to the gender of coaches. In the case of male coaches, emotional intelligence had an impact on all factors except transmission. In the case of women, it was found that feedback, helping others and emotional control had an impact on all factors except transmission. Therefore, these results show that in-depth research on the emotional intelligence of golf coaches is required. They also suggest that there will be a need to study how the gender of the coach affects customer citizenship behavior.
