The improvement of the SDMB service in the border adding time delay to the satellite signal (위성신호 Delay추가를 통한 위성DMB 서비스 경계지역 품질개선)

  • Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(SDMB) needs Gap Fillers(GFs) to cover the non-service areas. However, SDMB mobile phones which are not located in GFs service area receive signals directly from the satellite because it is impossible to cover all SDMB service with GFs. Therefore, there is a border between the GFs service coverage and the satellite service coverage and it causes a time delay in signals which are from the GFs or the satellite. The time delay is the reason why SDMB service deteriorates. In this paper, I show how to reduce the deterioration of SDMB service in the border area between the GFs and the satellite adding the time delay to the satellite signal and the GFs signal. I think that this method is helpful in reducing the deterioration, especially in the early stages of SDMB service, which the GFs are not spread all over the nation yet.

  • In this paper, we developed the hardware GPS signal generator for generating a GPS L1 meaconing signal with Live GPS signal signals and analyzed the performance of meaconing signal generator thorough the experiment. Deception of the signal, such as a re-broadcast, it is an object of the user to provide false information so as not to receive location information and accurate time. The signal just rebroadcast has the features that can be easily deceive the receiver via a delay of no received signal to the signal processing through an antenna. In this paper, the hardware for generating a signal only these rebroadcast designed and manufactured, by re-sending the received Live GPS signals, to confirm the effect of the receiver. The maximum delay time is possible up to about 2.6msec, also, has been successfully tested to be moved to the position of re-broadcasting based on maturity antenna the position of the receiver through a spaced antenna.

Precise Delay Generation using a Delay Chain Locked by Multiple Clock Period (다중 클락 주기의 지연체인을 이용한 정밀한 지연발생 회로)

  • This paper presents a new technique for generating precise clock delays. The technique can obtain finer timing resolution less than the gate delay of the delay chain by locking in multiple clock period. Using this technique, a 250ps of timing resolution could be achieved from a 750ps delay of the single delay stage in a DLL(Delay Locked Loop) structure. The delay chain of the proposed circuit is locked on three times of the clock period and a finer delay resolution than the absolute gate delay is achieved and verified through the simulation.

  • 반도체 기술의 발달과 더불어 디지털 신호 기억회로는 매우 빠른 속도로 발달되었다. 그러나 수 GHz 이상의 높은 고주파 신호를 저장하였다가 복재하는 것은 매우 어려운 기술이다. 고주파 신호의 복재를 위해서 과거에는 신호 감쇄가 적은 고주파 케이블을 일정한 길이로 감아서 시간지연을 시키는 아날로그 방식의 고주파 신호 저장회로가 사용되었으나, 신호 샘플링 및 광대역 신호 변환기 등이 발전되면서 고주파 신호를 고속으로 샘플링 한 뒤 디지털 회로에 저장 한 후에 필요시 고주파 신호를 복재하는 기술이 가능해 쳐다. 본 논문에서는 주파수 대역이 3 옥타브 이상 되는 광대역 고주파 신호를 저장하고 복재할 때 샘플링 주파수에 따른 특성을 분석하였다.

A Study of Repeater Effect Adjustment Algorithm in CDMA Indoor Positioning System (CDMA 기반의 실내 측위 시스템을 위한 중계기 보정 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • This paper researches the estimating location using repeater effect adjustment method in CDMA based system. Repeaters are commonly used by commercial and amateur radio operators to extend signals in the radio frequency range from one receiver to another. The repeater signals are increasing arrival time from base station to mobile station. So if we calculates the mobile station using repeater signals, the estimating position error is increased. However nobody researched about adjusting repeater effects. This paper proposes repeater effect adjustment algorithm. For adjusting repeater effects, we make the triangle using mobile station, reference base station and neighbor base station, and then detect the repeater effects using the triangle characteristic. The proposed method system showed the improved performance in estimating parameters and locating positions by computer simulations.

Detection Probability as a Symbol Synchronization Timing at the Lead of Each Received Delay OFDM Signal in Multipath Delay Profile (멀티패스 지연프로필의 각 수신지연파의 선두에서 OFDM 신호의 심벌 동기타이밍으로의 검출확률)

  • In this paper, we represent the maximum detection probability formulas of symbol synchronization timing at each received delay signal in multipath channel delay profile in the multiplied correlation and difference type correlated symbol synchronization timing detection method. The computer simulation results show that the correlation symbol timing detection method have maximum detection probability at the lead of received delay signal of highest amplitude, but the difference type of correlation symbol timing detection method always have maximum detection probability at the lead of first received delay signal in the multipath channel models. Using this results, we show the BER characteristics difference between the IEEE802.11a OFDM signals which is obtained in case of the symbol synchronization timing is taken at zero error(perfect) timing position and at -1 sample error symbol timing position from perfect timing position in the multipath channel models regardless the length of channel delay spread.

An optical true time delay for 10 GHz linear phased array antennas composed of optical 2×2 MEMS switches and fiber delay lines (광 2×2 MEMS 스위치와 광섬유 지연선로를 이용한 10 GHz 선형 위상배열 안테나용 광 실시간 지연선로)

  • In this paper, we proposed an optical true time-delay (TTD) feeder system for phased array antennas (PAAs). The system possesses high-speed beam scan capability since, in this scheme, different lengths of fiber delay-lines are selected by optical 2${\times}$2 MEMS switches at high speed. An optical TTD capable of beam scanning in one of eight different directions has been built for 10 GHz linear PAA systems. Experimental results on time delay measurements show that the maximum time delay error is less than 0.2 ps corresponding to a scan angle error of less than 0.84o. We have also designed a 10 GHz linear PAA composed of eight micro-strip patch antenna elements driven by the proposed TTD, and the radiation patterns of this PAA have been analyzed by simulation.

  • Ionospheric delay error, one of main error sources in GPS signal, varies with signal frequency. Dual-frequency user uses L1, L2 frequency pseudorange to estimate the ionospheric delay, and there are errors caused by pseudorange measurement noise. So, filter is usually used to smooth the measurement. Weighted hatch filter can estimate optimal smoothed pseudorange measurement. But measurement noise model is needed to use this filter. In this paper, measurement noise modeling is conducted for NDGPS reference station. Using noise modeling result, weighted hatch filter estimate smoothed pseudorange measurement and ionospheric delay. Standard deviation of ionospheric dealy error drops to one-twenty fifth of non-filtered result.

Development of DDL(Digital Delay Line) Module Using Interleave Method Based on Pulse Recognition and Delay Gap Detection (펄스 인식 및 지연 간격 검출을 통한 인터리브 방식의 디지털 시간 지연 모듈 개발)

  • Radar performance test is one of the major steps for radar system design. However, it is restricted by time and cost when radar performance tests are performed with opportunity targets. So various simulated target generators are developed and used to evaluate radar performance. To simulate the target's range, most of simulated target generators are developed with optical line or DRFM(Digital RF Memory) technique but there are many restrictions such as limit of range imitation and test scenario because of their original usage. In this paper, DDL(Digital Delay Line) module for development of simulated target generator is designed with precise range simulation and easily embodiment feature. And pulse recognition and delay gap detection technique are used to simulate the time delay without distortions. Developed DDL module performances are verified through their performance tests and test results are described in this paper.

A Comparison of Correction Models for the Prediction of Tropospheric Propagation Delay of GPS Signals (GPS 신호의 대류층 지연 예측을 위한 보정모델의 비교)

  • Since GPS's SA cancellation, the interest is converged in correction of errors such as atmospheric delay and multipath that weight had been small relatively, which can improve the accuracy of positioning through modelling research. The aim of this study have an extensive comparison of the various tropospheric delay models (Goad&Goodman, A&K, Hopfield and Sasstamoinen) and mapping functions(Niell, Chao, and Marini). Expecially, the tropospheric delay amounts by change of the GPS satellite elevations, and the delay by various combination between zenith delay models and mapping functions, compared and examined. For this, programmed the total delay models and the combined models which can be described as a product of the delay at the zenith and a mapping function. The result of study, especially, as the minimum elevation of included data is reduced under $10^{\circ}$, it was considered to be reasonable that the prediction of tropospheric delay considering combination and mapping character of functions about the transition of the zenith delay to a delay with arbitrary zenith angle.
