목적 : 신정격 자침이 당뇨군과 정상군의 혈관변화에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 가속도맥파를 이용한 실험을 설계하였다. 방법 : 20명의 당뇨군과 20명의 정상군에서 신정격 자침 이전과 이후, 2회에 걸쳐서 Cardio Peri SA6000을 이용하여 가속도맥파를 측정하였다. 가속도맥파의 b/a, c/a, d/a 및 연령지수를 통해 혈관상태를 평가하였다. 결과 : 1. 당뇨군과 정상군의 신정격 자침 이전 가속도맥파 측정에서 당뇨군이 정상군보다 b/a값(p=0.000), 연령지수(AI)(p=0.000)는 유의하게 높았으며, c/a값(p=0.000), d/a값(p=0.000)은 유의하게 낮았다. 2. 당뇨군에서 신정격 자침 이후 가속도맥파의 b/a값(p=0.004), 연령지수(p=0.012)는 유의하게 낮아졌으며, c/a값(p=0.026)은 유의하게 높아졌다. 3. 정상군에서 신정격 자침 이후 가속도맥파의 b/a값(p=0.025)은 유의하게 낮아졌다. 결론 : 신정격 자침이 당뇨로 인해 유발된 혈관의 탄력도 감소 및 노화를 다소 회복시킬 수 있는 것으로 사료된다.

Objectives : The puropse of this study was to report the availability of Hyeongsang diagnosis compensating for visceral pattern identification in applying Sa-am acupuncture therapy. Methods : Eight cases was presented to substantiate the above. Results : According to the characteristic diagnostic method of Hyeongsang medicine by feature such as face, ears, eyes, nose and mouth shape, There are 8 pattern differentiations, including essence family, Qi family, spirit family, blood family, fish type, bird type, beast(running) type and crust(crustacea) type which are correlated with essence deficiency, heat harassing the heart spirit, Qi stagnation, blood stasis, kidney essence deficiency, intense heart fire, liver blood deficiency and lung Qi deficiency in the established visceral pattern identification, respectively. Eight patients was diagnosed by the above Hyeongsang 8 pattern differentiations, of whom Sinjeonggyeok(kidney reinforcing prescription) was applied to a patient with fish type and essence family to nourish kidney essence, and Giul prescription(Qi stagnation prescription) was given to a patient with Qi family for regulating Qi, and Sanghwa priscription(ministerial fire prescription) was delivered to a patient with Spirit family to clear the heart fire and tranquilize, and Sojangjeonggyeok(small intestine reinforcing prescription) was used for a patient with blood family to nourish blood and remove blood stasis, and Sinjeonggyeok(kidney reinforcing prescription), Simhangyeok(heart heat clearing prescription), Ganjeonggyeok(liver reinforcing prescription) and Pyejeonggyeok(lung reinforcing prescription) were utilized for fish type, bird type, beast(running) type and crust(crustacea) type respectively to reinforce the relevant visceral function. Conclusions : It was suggested that characteristic diagnostic method of Hyeongsang medicine should be helpful for enhancing the accuracy of the established visceral pattern identification, applying Sa-am acupuncture therapy more appropriately.

Objectives : The acupuncture has been used as treatment of disease in the oriental medicine. In this study, it was investigated at had an effects of Heart JEONGGYEOK(心正格) of SAAM five evolutive phase acupuncture techniques(舍岩五行鑛法) for appling deficiency in the heart induced by experimental focal ischemia. Materials and methods : The focal ischemia was induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion for 2hours. The groups divided into 6 groups, normal(intactness group), control(no therapy group after ischemia-induced), AT1(reinforcing acupoint of Heart JEONGGYEOK : acupuncture therapy group at LR1, HT9 after ischemia-induced), AT2(reinforcing acupoint of Kidney JEONGGYEOK : acupuncture therapy group at LU8, KI7 after ischemia-induced) AT3(combination of reinforcing acupoint of Heart JEONGGYEOK and Kidney JEONGGYEOK : acupuncture therapy group at LR1, HT9, LU8, KI7 after ischemia-induced) AT4(reinforcing and reducing acupoint of Heart JEONGGYEOK : acupuncture therapy group at LR1, HT9, HT3, KI10 after ischemia-induced), AT4(reinforcing and reducing acupoint of Heart JEONGGYEOK : acupuncture therapy group at LRI, HT9, HT3, KI10 after ischemia-induced). Acupuncture therapy was carried out during 3 weeks after focal ischemia-induced. Eight-arm radial maze was used for the behavioral task and neuropretective effect of acupuncture therapy was observed by Cresyl violet, AchE, ChAT-stain. Results : The error rate in the eight-arm radial maze task was significantly decreased in AT3 group on 3days, in AT1 and AT4 groups on 4days, in AT3 and AT4 groups on 5days compared to the control group. The rate of correct choice was significantly increased AT4 group compared to the control group. The density of neurons in the hippocampal CA1 were significantly increased in all experiment groups, AT1, AT2, AT3 and AT4 groups compared to the control group. The density of AchE in the hippocampal CA1 was significantly increased in AT4 group compared to the control group. The density of ChAT in the hippocampal CA1 were significantly increased in AT1 and AT3 group compared to the control group. Conclusions : These results suggest that reinforcing and reducing acupoint of Heart JEONGGYEOK could be used as a medication for controlling the stroke by deficiency in the heart.

Objective : This study was designed to investigate the effect of the Sa-Am Acupuncture treatment on two patients suffering from Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus(NPH). Methods : We selected the two patients who were admitted with NPH. The patients were women with complaints of gait disturbance, dementia, incontinence, hemiparesis and dysarthria, after occurring of cerebral infarction or SAH. We treated the two patients by Sa-Am Acupuncture treatment method and herbal medication. One patient was treated during 64 days, the other was treated during 14 days. Results & conclusions : The Sa-Am Acupuncture treatment was effective on one pateint, not the other. After treatment through oriental medicine, including Sa-Am Acupuncture treatment method, one patient was improved but the other was not changed. Therefore, this application of oriental medicine and Sa-Am Acupuncture treatment are reported with a plea for further investigation.

Objectives: This experimental study was designed to show the relationship between kidney qi deficiency and hypoadrenia. A comparative study between Sa-am and local area acupuncture stimulation was conducted. The test results help to show the relationship between kidney qi deficiency and hypoadrenia as well as the recuperation of the patient with the use of VAS, ROM, Sch ber test, ODI and salivary cortisol testing. Methods: 1. Twenty-four adults with chronic low back pain were recruited. Once selected the test population was divided into two different groups. One group was treated only with the use of local area acupuncture and the other with Sa-am acupuncture. 2. At the completion of each acupuncture treatment both groups underwent a VAS, ROM, ODI, $Sch{\ddot{o}}ber$ Test and salivary cortisol test. Results: 1. Both the Sa-am acupuncture group and the local area acupuncture group had statistical significance in VAS decrease and flection ROM increase. 2. Only the Sa-am acupuncture group had statistical significance in extension ROM increase. Only the local area acupuncture group had statistical significance in both lateral flection ROM increase and ODI test. 3. There was statistical significance of correlation between morning salivary cortisol test and adrenal fatigue questionnaire. Conclusions: Both local area acupuncture as well as Sa-am acupuncture treatments were effective for treating lower back pain caused by kidney qi deficiency. In addition, each patients recuperation level can be verified with the results seen from the salivary cortisol test results. The cortisol results suggest a similarity between kidney qi deficiency and hypoadrenia.

Objectives : The comparison of symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism with symptoms according to spleen and kidney show how many points of similarity they are. And by analysis of symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism it was examined that Kidney Jeonggyeok help to cure many different symptoms including symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism. Methods : The symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism were compared and analyzed according to standards of the book of korean traditional medical pathology. First, this study was designed to show to found out how many symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism belong to symptoms of kidney qi-deficiency and slpeen qi-deficiency and how similar they are. Second, the symptoms of kidney qi deficiency were compared with the indicant of kidney Jeonggyeok suggested by two of korean traditional doctors to find out kidney Jeonggyeok can help to cure symptoms of kidney qi deficiency. And then on the basis of those, the symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism were compared with the symptoms of kidney qi deficiency. Results : The hypoadrenocorticism seems to be kidney yang(陽) deficiency. But because hypoadrenocorticism doesn't have body temperature decline, symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism are more similar symptoms of kidney qi deficiency than symptoms of kidney yang deficiency. The symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism seems to be correlated with the functions of spleen. But because of vomiting and pigmentation(skin and mucous membrane), they seem to have less to do with the functions of spleen than the functions of kidney. The comparison analysis of indicant of Kidney Jeonggyeok and symptoms of kidney qi deficiency shows that acupuncture stimulation help to cure kidney qi deficiency and hypoadrenocorticism. Conclusions : Symptoms of hypoadrenocorticism are expected to be more similar symptoms of kidney qi deficiency. And Kidney Jeonggyeok is helpful for treatment of Kidney qi deficiency and hypoadrenocorticism.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder on radial pulse in healthy subjects. Methods : Sixty healthy subjects participated in this study, and were divided into a kidney tonifying acupuncture group(KI group), urinary bladder tonifying acupuncture group(BL group) and control group. Radial pulse was measured by 3 dimensional pulse imaging system(DMP-3000) before, immediately after, 30 minutes after, and 60 minutes after acupuncture at Cun, Guan, and Chi in each time. Results : 1. BL group exhibited significantly reduced T1 / T, T4 / T, T4 / (T-T4), T5 / T and increased(T-T4) / T compared to KI group. 2. BL group showed increase of radial augmentation index / heart rate(RAI / HR) in left Cun, H5, Ad / Ap in left Chi, H1, As / Ap in right Chi compared to KI group. BL group showed decrease of As / Ap, Aw / Ap in left Chi, H1, pulse depth, Ad / Ap in right Chi compared to KI group. 3. KI group showed increase of Aw / Ap, H1, H2, H4, pulse area in right Guan, pulse depth in right Chi compared to BL group. KI group showed decrease of RAI in left Cun, applied pressure, pulse depth in left Guan, Aw / Ap in right Chi compared to BL group. Conclusions : The effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder in healthy humans have been observed on various parameters. The parameters analysed in this study can be used to differentiate the effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder on radial pulse.

Objectives : Saam acupuncture is one of the indigenous therapeutic modalities in traditional Korean medicine. In this study, the neuroprotective effect of Saam acupuncture of kidney tonification was investigated using 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-treated mice. Methods : Twelve-week-old male C57BL/6 mice were intraperitoneally administered with 30 mg/kg of MPTP at 24-h intervals for 5 days and acupuncture stimulation at LU8, KI7, SP3 and KI3 was performed once a day for 12 days from the first MPTP injection. The pole test and the rotarod test were performed to evaluate motor function, and dopaminergic neuronal survival in the substantia nigra (SN) and striatum was evaluated using tyrosine-hydroxylase immunohistochemistry. Results : MPTP administration caused behavioral impairment and dopaminergic neuronal death in the nigrostriatal pathway. Whereas the Saam acupuncture treatment alleviated the MPTP-induced motor dysfunction and dopaminergic neuronal death in the SN and striatum. Conclusions : Saam acupuncture of kidney tonification can alleviate the MPTP-induced motor dysfunction and dopaminergic neuronal death in the nigrostriatal pathway, suggesting a possible role for acupuncture in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
