Factors Related to Efforts to Enhance Health Behavior Among Patients With Metabolic Disease (대사성 질환자의 건강행위증진 노력관련 융합연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the convergence factors affecting disease management efforts of the middle-aged population who have comorbidities of all three metabolic diseases: type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. This study used raw data from the 2015 community health survey(CHS). A multiple hierarchical regression analysis was performed that the included variables explained 20.1% of the variance in weight-loss efforts, 6.8% of exercise efforts and 5.3% diet efforts respectively. This study revealed associations among gender, socioeconomic status, and behavioral habits of smoking and drinking with disease-management efforts. It is important to design a health service or supportive intervention with consideration of multiple factors for patients with multiple metabolic disease.

Weight Control Behaviors among Korean Adults : Association with Dietary Intake (한국성인의 체중조절 관련 행위와 식이 섭취 양상)

  • This study aimed to assess the prevalence of weight control behaviors and their association with food and nutrient intake among Korean adults. Study subjects were 7,340 Koreans aged 20 years and older in the 1998 Korean Health and Nutrient Survey. Cross-sectional data were collected on weight control behavior and diet using structured questionnaire by interview. Analysis of variance following after Duncan's multiple range test was used to test the differences in food and nutrient intake among three different weight control behavior groups(weight reducing attempt, weight gaining attempt, none). Current weight control behaviors were reported by 32% of the study subjects. There were significant differences in weight control behaviors between male and female subjects; weight reducing practices were 7 times greater than weight gaining practices among female subjects while it was only 1.5 times among male subjects. Weight control behaviors were not consistently associated with food and nutrient intake among male and female subjects. Moreover, greater food and nutrient intake were observed among those who trying to reducing weight than those who did not try. Therefore, it Is necessary to educate the Korean adults that balanced food and nutrient intake with sustaind weight control effort is the ideal way to achieve healthy weight.

  • Research on reverse knowledge transfer from subsidiaries to headquarters is recently gaining prominence. The debate regarding the precedents affecting the phenomenon has yet to reach a consensus. Therefore, this paper attempts to identify the effects of an organization's subsidiaries' knowledge transfer capacity (KTC) on reversely transferred local market information (LMI) to headquarters. The present study also examines the moderating effect of intrinsic KTC on the relationship between extrinsic KTC and RKT in an effort to gain better insights into KTC. Through sample data gathered from South Korea, knowledge development capability and subsidiary willingness were found to be vital precedents for successful reverse transferring of LMI to headquarters. Furthermore, we also found that subsidiary willingness functions as an interfering moderator between the relationship of knowledge development capability and RKT. Theoretical contributions and practical implications of these findings are discussed.

국내 잡곡산업의 현황과 발전방안

  • 잡곡은 혈압강하, 당뇨병 질환, 고혈압 예방, 면역성 증가, 혈당강하, 항산화, 항염증 효과 및 항암효과 등 기능적 특성을 가지는 작물로서 최근 사람들의 건강에 대한 인식이 증대되면서 다양한 생리활성을 가지는 잡곡에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 그러나 잡곡은 현재 재배면적 및 생산량의 감소, 수입산에 대한 경쟁력 약화 및 농가 생산기피 등의 이유로 국내산 잡곡 생산량 및 재배면적은 감소하는 추세이다. 따라서 잡곡의 부가가치 상승 및 경쟁력 강화를 위한 다양한 노력이 요구된다. 최근 국내 식품의 트렌드는 바쁜 사회생활 및 불균형한 식습관으로 인하여 편이식이 또는 식사대용 형태의 편이식이 제품의 수요가 높아지고 있다. 따라서 다양한 생리활성을 가지는 잡곡을 활용한 indoor용 맞춤형 가공식품 개발은 바쁜 일상생활으로 인한 영양 불균형으로 건강에 대한 우려가 있는 현대인들 특히 영양요구성이 가장 높은 청소년 및 고령층의 영양보충뿐만 아니라 수입산 잡곡에 대한 국내 잡곡시장의 경쟁력 강화 및 농가소득 상승에 도움이 될 것으로 여겨진다.

  • 기존의 원자력발전소의 설계 및 안전한 운전과 가상되는 중대사고 진행과정을 해석하여 더욱 안전한 원자로를 건설하기 위해서는 2상유동에 관련된 현상을 보다 잘 이해하여야 함이 명확하다. 지금까지의 실험적 연구를 더욱 확장하여 현재 사용하고 있는 실험식이 도출된 실험들의 스케일 효과를 규명하고, 2상유동의 측정방법의 개발이 더욱 진행되어 보다 정확한 실험결과를 도출하여야 한다. 한편으로, 2상유동을 수치적으로 해석하고자 하는 노력도 계속되어야 한다. 특히 원자력공학에서는 비등 및 응축과 같은 상변화 및 비등 열전달과 같이 열의 전달현상이 중요한 역할을 하므로 이에 대한 연구 필요성이 계속될 것이다.

Differences in Nutrient Intakes Analysed by Using Food Frequency and Recall Method (빈도법과 회상법에 의한 영양소 섭취 평가의 차이)

  • Nutrient intake data collected by both dietary methods of the 24 hour recall method and the food frequency method from 538 middle school students were analysed to investigate any measurement errors occuring while using these methods. Measurement errors were observed both in terms of differences of average intake and consistancy from the two sources of data used. Wilcoxon signed ranks test was used to test the differences between the two average intakes and Speraman's rank order correlation coefficient was used to test consistancy. As a result, average intake value estimated from the food frequency method tended to be higher than that from the 24 hour recall method. The degree of overestimation varies from one nutrient to another. For instance, carotene showed not only the most significant differences in average intake but also showed the most incoisistancies between the two sets of data. This may imply the validity of nutrient intake as derived from different dietary survey methods varied from one nutrient to another, therefore the selection of dietary survey methods has to be made more cautiously in the case of certainnutrients.

Relationship of Nutritional Knowledge, Dietary Self Efficacy and Change of Dietary Behavior of Nutrition Professional (영양전공자의 영양지식, 식이 효능감, 식행동 변화간의 관련성)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship of nutritional knowledge, dietary self-efficacy and dietary behavior of nutritionist. Total 190 dieticians of middle and high schools in Daejeon metropolitan city(44.2%) and Chungnam area(55.8%) were surveyed by questionnaires. The change of dietary intakes was used as an index of dietary behavioral change, and dietary self-efficacy are categorized into 4 sub groups of general dietary habit, choice of food, environmental stimulus and emotional conditions. Overall nutritionl knowledge of school dieticians was relatively high as 80.3 score, but specific and detail knowledge about food and nutrition yet have to be strengthened. Dietary self-efficacy of 'choice of food' was the highest with 85.4 and self-efficacy of 'environmental stimulus' was the lowest with 69.7 in the subjects. There was no influence between nutrition knowledge and dietary self-efficacy of school dieticians. According to the level of dietary self-efficacy, the intake of desirable food showed no significant difference, but the intake of undesirable foods decreased as dietary self-efficacy increased(p<0.001). In the analysis of correlation of change in intake of desirable and undesirable foods with nutrition knowledge and 4 different variables of dietary self-efficacy, a nutrition knowledge variable did not show any correlation with other variables. While, total dietary self-efficacy or each 4 sub items showed negative correlation with the intake of undesirable foods. And all 4 sub items of dietary self-efficacy could be the principal factors to constrain the intake of undesirable foods, but 2 items of dietary habits and emotional condition of 4 sub items are the factors to increase the intake of desirable food. Accordingly, it is suggested that dietary self-efficacy could be a powerful factor to induce the behavioral change of professional dieticians.

Improvement of Insulin Resistance by Curcumin in High Fat Diet Fed Mice (고지방식이 급여 마우스에서 curcumin의 인슐린 저항성 개선 효능)

  • Rapid increase of diabetic population is a major health concern in Korea. In a trial to develop food components which can prevent and/or cure diabetes, we investigated the anti-diabetic activity of curcumin in high fat diet (HFD)-induced type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) animal model. C57BL/6 mice were divided into three groups: normal diet (ND), high fat diet (HFD), and curcumin (CUR, HFD+0.02% curcumin). Mice were fed each diet for 16 weeks. CUR significantly reduced body weight gain, the levels of plasma glucose, insulin, total-cholesterol (T-C), and LDL-C, whereas increased HDL-C compared to those of HFD group. Notably, insulin signaling pathway was activated by CUR. This suggests that CUR improves obesity-associated T2DM by overcoming insulin resistance in part.

Normal Predictive Values of Spirometry in Korean Population (한국인의 정상 폐활량 예측치)

  • Background : Spirometry should be compared with the normal predictive values obtained from the same population using the same procedures, because different ethnicity and different procedures are known to influence the spirometry results. This study was performed to obtain the normal predictive values of the Forced Vital Capacity(FVC), Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 Second($FEV_1$), Forced Expiratory Volume in 6 Seconds($FEV_6$), and $FEV_1/FVC$ for a representative Korean population. Methods : Based on the 2000 Population Census of the National Statistical Office of Korea, stratified random sampling was carried out to obtain representative samples of the Korean population. This study was performed as a part of the National Health and Nutrition Survey of Korea in 2001. The lung function was measured using the standardized methods and protocols recommended by the American Thoracic Society. Among those 4,816 subjects who had performed spirometry performed, there was a total of 1,212 nonsmokers (206 males and 1,006 females) with no significant history of respiratory diseases and symptoms, with clear chest X-rays, and with no significant exposure to respiratory hazards subjects. Their residence and age distribution was representative of the whole nation. Mixed effect models were examined based on the Akaike's information criteria in statistical analysis, and those variables common to both genders were analyzed by regression analysis to obtain the final equations. Results : The variables affecting the normal predicted values of the FVC and $FEV_6$ for males and females were $age^2$, height, and weight. The variables affecting the normal predicted values of the $FEV_1$ for males and females were $age^2$, and height. The variables affecting the normal predicted values of the $FEV_1/FVC$ for male and female were age and height. Conclusion : The predicted values of the FVC and $FEV_1$ was higher in this study than in other Korean or foreign studies, even though the difference was < 10%. When compared with those predicted values for Caucasian populations, the study results were actually comparable or higher, which might be due to the stricter criteria of the normal population and the systemic quality controls applied to the whole study procedures together with the rapid physical growth of the younger generations in Korea.

Modified Software Equation for Software Cost-Schedule Tradeoff (소프트웨어 비용-일정 타협을 위한 수정된 소프트웨어 공식)

  • To develop a software, there is a relationship between development organization's productivity, effort, development schedule, and software size. It is software equation that motive these relations. Basically, relationship between size-effort and size-schedule is applied. If this relationship is not proper, there would be no effect of the cost-schedule tradeoff equation that is derived from software equation, and the manpower profile analysis, etc. To solve these unwanted problems, we presented a modified software equation and a cost-schedule tradeoff model based on the modified software equation. To improve software development success rate, applying proposed model will help in contract negotiation or bid.
