  • One of the methods to solve the problems of over-produced livestock manure, which are produced 34 million tons or more every year in Korea, is the using of these organic resources in rice cultivation. Experiments were carried out to find our the marginal application rime of pig manure without the injury for rice cultivation, dry and compost pig manure were incorporated separately in paddy field on several different time before rice transplanting. lt could be concluded that not only both manures were able to incorporate anytime before transplanting without the injury to rice growth, but also application of CPM and DPM to the rice paddy soil can be possible. However, 50% of the recommended application of chemical fertilizer was possible when the pig manure was incorporated in the paddy field for rice production.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of the proper application level of anaerobic digestion waste water on rice. The waste water was from methane fermentation of pig manure to use as a liquid manure. The mixture treatment of 70% liquid manure and 30% chemical fertilizer (LM 70%+CF 30%) and 100% liquid manure (LM 100%) treatment were higher number of tiller than other treatments at the both tillering and heading stages of rice. The yields of LM 70%+CF 30% and LM 100% treatments were a little higher than that of NPK treatment, but the mixture treatment of 50% liquid manure and 50% chemical fertilizer (LM 50%+CF 50%) was a little lower yield than NPK treatment. The periodic changes of the $NH_4-N$ and $NO_3-N$ contents of the NPK and the LM 50%+CF 50% treatments in paddy soil were a little higher than those of other treatments at the early stage of rice. The $NH_4-N$ contents of NPK and the LM 50%+CF 50% treatments in irrigation water quality were higher than those of other treatments, however there was no difference in $NO_3-N$ content among the treatments. The $NH_4-N$ and $NO_3-N$ contents of non fertilizer treatment in infiltration water quality were leached a little higher than those of other treatments. It may be due to poor growth of rice following to reduce the nutrient uptake by rice and to increase relatively the nutrient leaching to the ground water. The proper application level of anaerobic digestion waste water as a liquid manure could be suggested to apply LM 70%+CF 30%. All treatments were the same amount of nitrogen content for the standard application amount on rice.

  • The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of applying time of cattle slurry and fertilizing added mineral nitrogen on dry matter yield of orchardgrass and also to estimate proper levels of fertilizing nitrogen when idled arable land rapidly increased these days, which was used for the production of Orchardgrass. The results were as follows. 1. The annual yields of dry matter were produced 5.62~6.67 ton per ha when cattle slurry applied at rates of $30m^3$(average mineral fertilizer equivalent to 120kg) per ha in different dressing times. Those were higher 0.60~1.65 ton or 0.16 ton per ha than the yields from non-fertilizing or phosphrous and potassium fertilizing. 2. Relative yields of annual dry matter from mineral nitrogen fertilization of 120kg per ha were 142~146% in comparsion with control plots(cattle slurry plot or phosphrous and potassium plot). On the other hand, those of cattle slurry application were 112~133% in comparion with non-fertilizing plot. 3. The efficiencies of nitrogen on dry matter yield(kg DM/kg N) were 5.0~13.8 DM kg/N kg when cattle slurry applied to Orchardgrass at rates of $30m^3$(average mineral fertilizer equivalent to 120kg) per ha, and were 21.3~23.1kg DM/kg N at the same level fertilization of mineral nitrogen. 4. On the condition of this study, mineral nitrogen were fertilized after applying cattle slurry at rates of $30m^3$(average mineral fertilizer equivalent to 120kg) per ha in order to minimize chemical fertilizer and increase the potential production of Orchardgrass. At this situation, marginal dry matter yields of 8.48~8.63 ton per ha were obtained as the level of economic even point goint when mineral nitrogen fertilization is between 119.4 and 133.3kg per ha. It was possible to obtain the maximal dry matter yield(8.98 tons/ha) with fertilization of 202.8kg N/ha.

  • To determine the distribution and recovery of fall-applied N in various parts of satsuma mandarins (Citrus unshiu Marc). $19.68g\;N\;tree^{-1}$ as urea containing 5 atom % $^{15}N$ and 58 kg$K_2O$ $ha^{-1}$ were broadcast-applied to 11 years old 'Miyagawa Wase' grown at a spacing of $2.7{\times}2.7m$ on 18 November 1998. Nitrogen, $P_2O_5$, and $K_2O$ were applied at 104, 308, and $62kg\;ha^{-1}$ on 22 March and N and $K_2O$ at 42 and $83kg\;ha^{-1}$ on 15 June 1999. Two trees were excavated on 15 June and 8 December 1999, respectively. In mid-June, whole tree contained $168.2g\;N\;tree^{-1}$ of which 11.9, 42.1, 29.7, and 16.3% were in fruits, leaves, stems, and roots, respectively. In early December, total tree N averaged $169.8g\;tree^{-1}$ and fruits accounted for 27.6%, leaves 36.4%, stems 22.8%, and roots 13.2% of total tree N. Regardless of harvest date, N derived from fertilizer was highest in newly developed tissues. In mid June, the tree recovered 18.5% ($3.63g\;tree^{-1}$) of fertilizer N. Fruits accounted for 21.1%, leaves for 50.4%, stems for 21.5%, and roots for 7.9% of fertilizer-derived N in the tree, respectively. In early December, the tree recovered 17.0% of fertilizer N. Fruits contained 39.6%, leaves 40.5%, stems 14.5%, and roots 5.3% of fertilizer-derived N in the tree respectively. Comparing with total tree N, a higher proportion of fertilizer-derived N was allocated to metabolically active tissues while a less proportion to old tissues regardless of harvest date.

  • Forages were sampled from an orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) meadow during two years in order to know both the characteristics of spring grass, which differ from those on other seasons, and the effects of potassium application on potassium. magnesium and water contents of forages. Their is a seasonal difference in the response of mineral and water contents to potassium. Minera] contents in forage possibly show their extremes in the early spring such as April on the present experiment. Namely, the K content of the forage was the highest, while the Mg content was the lowest in April. Other facts worthy to be described were the highest water content and the sensitive response of it to the K fertilization in spring time.

  • This study was wnducte to investigate the effects of treatment level and seasons of sluny hm bovine feces on the productivity of rye, N efficiency and improvement of soil fertility under the Korean climate condition. The results obtained fiom this study summarized as follows ; 1. The highest dry matter yield of rye was obtained in the partial fertilization of sluny in spring or autumn. There is no differences of dry matter yield between spring and autumn application. 2. With increasing the amount of slurry-N, the dry matter yield of rye was signigicantly increased up to 100Kg sluny Nha. As the level of slurry-N rises above about 100Kg N/ha, the maximal yield of dry matter was unchanged or declined. 3. As the level of sluny fertilization rises, the crude protein content of rye increases significantly. However the contents of crude protein was less affected by the application seasons. 4. The amount of nitrogen which produced 6om rye is dependent upon the level of slurry-N. The highest nitrogen yield of rye was obtained by the partial fertilization of sluny-N. 5. The season or amount of slurry treatments did not affect the organic matter content in soil. N-content in soil was the lowest by the partial fertilization of slurry in spring or autumn. However, N-content was increased with the higher level of sluny-N.

  • In this study, the adequate cutting frequency and level of cattle slurry nitrogen application were investigated for the production of Reed canarygrass. Higher relative dry matter yields were recorded in 2nd cut in 3 cutting frequency, 3rd cut in 4 cutting frequency and 4th cut in 5 cutting frequency respectively. With no fertilization, mean dry matter yields per year were 6.4~7.5 tons/ha and the highest yield appeared in 3 cutting frequency. The increased application of cattle slurry nitrogen resulted in the increased dry matter yield. Significantly higher dry matter yields than that of no fertilization were recorded in fertilization of 180 kg cattle slurry-N per year in 3 cutting frequency, 120 kg in 4 cutting frequency and 300 kg in 5 cutting frequency respectively. Efficiency of dry matter production with cattle slurry nitrogen application (kg DM/kg N) was higher in 120 kg N, 30 kg N and 90 kg N/ha/cut in 3, 4 and 5 cutting frequency respectively. In each cutting frequency, the higher efficiency of dry matter production appeared in 1st cut in 3 cutting frequency, and 2nd cut in 4 and 5 cutting frequency respectively. Economic slurry N level (kg/ha) was 462.7~525.3 kg/ha in 3 cutting frequency, and 353.1~423.2 kg/ha and 380.1~424.4 kg/ha in 4 and 5 cutting frequency respectively.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the application rate of cattle slury and urea N on productivity of corn and environmental pollution in com cultivation soil. The experiment was conformed in lysimeter which was constructed with 0.33m diameter and 1m height. This study was arranged in split plot design. Main plots were the application rate of mineral fertilizer, as urea, such as 0, 100 and 200kgN/ha and subplots were the application rate of cattle slurry, such as 0, 200 and 400kgN/ha. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. Dry matter yields of corn increased as the application rate of cattle slurry and urea increased. 2. Total nitrogen content of whole corn was increased as the application rate of cattle slurry and urea increased 3. The average nitrate content in leaching water by application rate of the slurry and urea N was 7.78$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$(ranged from 6.27 to 9.02$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$). Nitrate content was hardly influenced by application rates of the slurry and urea. However, nitrate content rises in proportion to a rise in precipitation.

  • With a purpose of finding out the effects of cattle slurry applicatioin on the dry matter yield, yield component, and botanical composition in the mixed sward, a field experiment was conducted with two times and five levels of cattle slurry application. The experimental field was laid.out in a split-plot design with three replications, and lasted from September. 1986 to October, 1990 at the Livestock Experiment Station in Suweon, The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. At each harvest time, the plant growth of the plots with cattle slurry application was slightly worse when compared to dressing of mineral fertilizer. 2. Average dry matter yield for 4 years was not significantly different between the slurry application times, just after cutting, and 15 days after cutting, The DM yield in the plot with cattle slurry 30 m!/ha and mineral fertilizer(9,095 kg/ha) and with cattle slurry 60 m1/ha and mineral fertilizer(8, 987 kg/ha) were decreased by 8% and 10% than that of the plot with mineral fertilizer application(9,937 kg/ha), respectively. 3. The DM yield component of the plots with cattle slurry application just after cutting was much better when compared to manuring 15 days after cutting. And it was much better in the plot with cattle slurry 60 m"/ha and mineral fertilizer which was composed of 73.8% grasses(6.636 kg/ha). 24.6% legumes (2,207 kdha) and 1.6% weeds(144 kdha). 4. In general, the botanical composition was relatively good in the plots with slurry application just after cutting. Grassland vegetation of the plots with cattle slurry 60 m"/ha and mineral fertilizer was changed into much better botanical composition with 66.8% grasses, 30.2% legumes and 3. 1% weeds at the end of the experiment.xperiment.
