A Checklist and Manual Developed to Review Fire Safety Facilities' Compliance with Fire Safety Requirements for Apartment Buildings (공동주택 소방시설 적법성 검토를 위한 화재안전규정 체크리스트 및 매뉴얼 개발)

  • Recently, there is a growing need to review compliance with legal requirements to ensure fire safety as the number of fires caused by noncompliant fire safety facilities in high-rise buildings has increased. While there are a large number of apartment buildings in Korea, there is a lack of review on fire safety facilities' compliance with fire safety requirements. The reason for this lack of review despite apartment buildings causing deaths due to their structural features in the event of a fire, lies in the misinterpretation of legal provisions as the Building Act and the Fire Services Act are mixed up; a final inspection when fire safety facilities are unnecessarily installed or missing could result in significant losses in terms of finances and time. Therefore, this study developed a checklist that makes it possible to review mixed-up legal requirements for fire safety facilities simultaneously, and examined the importance and current level of each item through IPA (Importance Performance Analysis). Based on these results, this study intends to develop a manual that considers its applicability to construction practices and contribute to reducing construction companies' fire safety inspection risks.

A Study on the Selection Criteria for Recruiting Social Workers Using AHP (AHP를 이용한 사회복지사 채용기준에 대한 우선순위 분석)

  • This study examine the selection criteria for recruiting social workers, commonly agreed by the persons in charge of human resources. We visited 46 social welfare facilities and performed interviews individually with them. Thirty three items belong to 7 different areas (ability, career, suitability and agreement to the facility, characteristics, recommendation, religion) were made based on the results of interviews, and these items were sent to social welfare facilities in 16 different cities in Korea for asking questions (from Oct, 2012 to Apr, 2013). One hundred and sixty cases were collected and among them 45 cases exhibiting consistency rate less than 0.2 were finally selected. Superior scope and subordinate scope were extracted and comparisons between day care centers and living institutions were made. Results demonstrated that ability of social workers was the most important for superior scope and suitability and agreement of social workers to both day care centers and living institutions were the most important factor for recruiting workers.

Comparative Case Analysis for Development Characteristics of Foreign and Domestic Share-Houses (국내·외 쉐어하우스 사례 비교를 통한 개발특성 분석)

  • The portion of single-household in Korea is more than 20% of the total household, and expected to be increase every year and reach 24% in 2030. For the accommodation of single-households, a small housing system called the share-house has appeared and developed in Japan and Europe. In this study, a comparative case analysis was performed to determine the development criteria for foreign and domestic cases. The analysis was conducted in view of the building type and scale, plan layout, add-on facilities and features, and operational methods and target tenants. In the cases of Korea, the share-house is mainly developed through the remodeling of a single detached house with the characteristics of small scale and living room centered plan targeting specific individuals with clear operating themes. For foreign cases, it was developed through the remodeling of various buildings, such as hotels or motels, having the characteristics of medium or large scale and corridor type plan targeting for various individuals with a range of operational methods reflecting regional features.

  • 하수관거 설계시나 단지개발사업, 그리고 하수관거정비사업과 같이 오수처리시설의 적정 규모 결정을 위해서는 정확한 상수사용량 및 오수발생량 원단위가 요구되지만 국내의 경우 이러한 원단위에 대한 기초자료 부족과 자료의 신빙성 결여로 인해 적정 원단위를 결정하는데 어려움이 있다. 이러한 관점에서 단지개발이 이루어지는 도시에서는 도시의 규모, 입지조건, 기후조건, 생활양식 등 다양한 요인들이 고려된 오수발생패턴 및 발생량 조사가 필요하며, 조사된 원단위는 오수처리시설의 적정 규모 결정뿐 아니라 침입수/유입수 분석 및 하수관거정비에 대한 성과예측에도 활용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 단지개발 및 하수관거정비사업이 진행중인 하남시의 표본이 될 수 있는 대표구역을 선정하고 그 지역에서 조사지역을 세부적으로 분류하여 각 지역별 오수발생특성을 분석하였다. 대상지역인 하남시는 총면적의 $97\%$가 자연녹지 및 생산녹지이며, 나머지 $3\%$는 일반주거지역 및 일반 상업지역으로 나뉜다. 그리고 도시계획상 공장지역으로 편성된 부분이 없어 앞으로도 하남시 대부분의 면적이 녹지와 주거/상업지역으로 구성될 것이다. 이러한 하남시의 특성을 고려하여 조사지역은 공장지역을 제외한 일반주거지역, 밀집주거지역, 영업지역으로 분류하였으며 이렇게 분류된 지역은 각각 오수발생패턴 및 오수농도에 대한 조사를 실시하여 오수발생특성을 분석하였고, 조사지역별 인구수 조사와 연계하여 원단위 자료를 추출하였다. 이렇게 조사된 자료들을 통해 침입수/유입수 분석에 요구되는 오수전환율, 야간생활하수량 비율을 산정하였으며, 차후 단지개발 및 관거정비 후에 발생하는 오수 발생특성과 비교분석을 통하여 하남시 지역의 오수발생특성에 대한 신뢰성 있는 자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다. RMA2 모형을 이용하여 충주댐에서의 물의 흐름을 해석한 결과 옥순대교$\~$청풍대교 구간 사이에 댐 및 지형적 영향으로 인해 잘 발달된 와류가 하도 전체를 통하여 발생되고 있었고 이는 댐 부유물 정체현상이 나타나는 지점과 잘 일치하고 있었다.정함 후 감마분석에 의하여 구하였다. CF:CS 연령모델을 적용한 결과 깊이에 따른 supported $^{210}Pb$와 퇴적 속도는 0.91cm/year 인 것으로 산정 되었다.RS is a more advanced content-based image retrieval system than other systems which support only concepts or image features.방하는 것이 선계기준에 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 밸브 개폐에 따른 수압 변화를 모의한 결과 밸브 개폐도를 적절히 유지하여 필요수량의 확보 및 누수방지대책에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.8R(mm)(r^2=0.84)$로 지수적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 유거수량은 토성별로 양토를 1.0으로 기준할 때 사양토가 0.86으로 가장 작았고, 식양토 1.09, 식토 1.15로 평가되어 침투수에 비해 토성별 차이가 크게 나타났다. 이는 토성이 세립질일 수록 유거수의 저항이 작기 때문으로 생각된다. 경사에 따라서는 경사도가 증가할수록 증가하였으며 $10\% 경사일 때를 기준으로 $Ro(mm)=Ro_{10}{\times}0.797{\times}e^{-0.021s(\%)}$로 나타났다.천성 승모판 폐쇄 부전등을 초래하는 심각한 선천성 심질환이다. 그러나 진단 즉시 직접 좌관상동맥-대동맥 이식술로 수술적 교정을 해줌으로써 좋은 성적을 기대할 수 있음을 보여주

Characteristics Evaluation of Non Point Source Treatment Facilities in Construction Site (건설 현장 내 비점오염원 처리 시설의 제거 특성 평가)

  • This study was conducted to investigate characteristics of the non-point source pollution under construction and evaluate available pollution control methods. Suspended solid loading is high when soil disturbs by rainfall and this phenomenon is much more severe at the initial stage of construction than at the final one. There are three methods available for erosion and sediment control, which are check dam, silt fence, and geotextile. Check dam and silt fence are for control of suspense solids and geotextile is for preventing soil erosion during rainfall. They can be installed as temporary control facilities at construction sites. From the comparison of those methods, it was found that geotextile method was the most efficient for the runoff control of non-point source pollution. Check dam and silt fence can remove suspense solids by pore spaces to some degree, but the removal of pollutants mainly occurs through sedimentation. Because the temporary control facilities have limited removal efficiency of pollutant, they often cause civil claims and contamination of water environment. Hence, using a pressurized filtration system along with temporary control facilities, highly enhanced treatment efficiency was anticipated. In addition, the loading capacity of these techniques depends on filtration velocity and input loading. And their pre-treatments are necessary for efficient operation.

Study on the Physical Property of Thermal Curtains for Greenhouse (시설하우스용 보온커튼재의 물리적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the physical and optical properties of polypropylene and polyester thermal curtains, in which tensile strength, heat reservance and light transmission of two different materials were measured. The results from this study are as follows. 1. The tensile weight of different materials were ranged from 3.4kg to 13.4kg, according to the thickness of materials, but that no difference in the tensile strength was appeared between the two materials. The Elongation of polypropylene materials and the tensile weight and strength of polyester materials were greater than any other materials. 2. The light transmittances of two materials were ranged from 50.3% to 81.7 %, light transmittances in polypropylene were higher by 20-30%,than those in polyester. 3. The heat reservances of two materials were ranged from 18.2% to 41.2%, in which polypropylene showed better performance than polyester. 4. From the results of the test, the polypropylene thermal material was better in elongation, heat reservances and light transmittances, but polyester thermal material was better in tensile strength and light isolation than the other material.

A Study on the Influences of the Estimation of Areas and Fees for Rental Facilities Affiliated with Subway Stations: A Case of Seoul Subway Lines 5 and 6 (지하철 역사 내 임대시설 적정 면적 및 임대료 산정에 영향을 미치는 변수에 관한 연구: 서울 지하철 5호선, 6호선을 사례로)

  • Considering that the Seoul subway sector is expected to see extension of lines, addition of stations, and changes of operating companies, a review is needed to identify ways to eliminate or minimize financial deficits in its operation. As for deficits from the operation, additional businesses for extra income have been suggested as alternatives, but inasmuch as Western urban development (that of the subway containment area) may not be applicable to Korean settings, a practical alternative is to maximize income by efficient use of rental facilities that are located inside station properties. This alternative requires the estimation of appropriate facility size and rent for each station; few, however, have addressed this topic. At this juncture, this study aimed to draw an equation for estimating the sizes and rents of station properties by reflecting characteristics of lines and locations; a case study was performed for Subway Lines 5 and 6. Analytical findings are that rental facility sizes and rental incomes are affected mainly by the subway ridership and transport revenues, whereas the influence of ground-level commercial activity is relatively weak. A particularly great influence was found to be the value of apartment housing in areas through which the subway lines run. Stations on Line 5, which runs through areas of high-value housing, were assigned smaller facility sizes and higher rents than those on Line 6, which covers areas with relatively low housing value. The equation suggested in this study would make possible more practical feasibility studies when the need arises to estimate sales of new or extended facilities affiliated with stations.

An Introductory Study for Developing the Urban Street Design Manual (도시부 도로의 구조시설.기준 작성 기초 연구 - 횡단구성을 중심으로 -)

  • Urbanization of Korea reaches up to 90% in the year 2003. What that means is that 90% of population live in the city areas. This phenomenon emphasizes importances of urban streets where people feel accessibility and level of environmental amenity, enjoy recreational activity, and live for a life. However, the current Korean manual for designing road is not enough to accomodate various activities of urban streets since its target is basically rural roads. This study proposes the necessity of a new design manual of urban streets via analyzing the practices of the development countries, and aims to recommend what should be prepared and how those are defined for developing a design manual of urban streets in Korea. It is inevitable that the design manual of urban streets be based on the flexibility and diversity. The manual should be made through consensus among the related stakeholders such as designers, residents and officials. And it also should reflect the characteristics of each city. It is somehow true that without the manual, designing of urban streets can be done although it is not fully acceptable. This does not mean that the necessity of the manual can be ignored. Rather, we should remember that the related stakeholders may not want to reveal what are hidden in developing the design manual of urban streets. What are hidden is that developing the design manual of urban streets is difficult problem to solve. It is a wish that this study triggers the on-going research and interests on developing the design manual of urban streets.

Comparison of heavy metal uptake of LID and roadside plants (도로변 및 LID 시설 식재 식물의 중금속 축적량 비교)

  • Urban stormwater runoff contains heavy metals that accumulate in on-site treatment systems, thus resulting to facility deterioration and maintenance problems. In order to resolve these problems, low impact development (LID) technologies that promote natural materials circulation are widely used. LID facilities are capable of treating heavy metals in the runoff by means of plant uptake; however, the uptake or phytoremediation capabilities of plants have not been studied extensively, making it difficult to select the most suitable plant species for a certain LID design. This study investigated the vegetative components of an LID facility, roadside plants, and plants in landscape areas with different heavy metal exposure and frequency to determine the uptake capabilities of different plant species. The plants harvested inside the LID facilities and roadsides with high vehicular traffic exhibited greater heavy metal concentrations in their tissues as compared with the plants in landscape areas. Generally, the accumulation of heavy metals in the plant tissues were found to be influenced by the environmental characteristics (i.e. influent water quality, air pollution level, etc.). Dianthus, Metasequoia, Rhododendron lateritium, and Mugwort were found to be effective in removing Zn in the urban stormwater runoff. Additionally, Dianthus, Metasequoia, Mugwort, and Ginkgo Biloba exhibited excellent removal of Cu. Cherry Tree, Metasequoia, and mugwort efficiently removed Pb, whereas Dianthus was also found to be effective in treating As, Cr, and Cd in stormwater. Overall, different plant species showed varying heavy metal uptake capabilities. The results of this study can be used as an effective tool in selecting suitable plant species for removing heavy metals in the runoff from different land use types.

Preliminary Estimation of Earthquake Losses Based on HAZUS in a Coastal Facility Area with Blocks Applying Site Classification (블록별 부지분류 적용 해안시설 영역에서의 HAZUS 기반 지진피해 추정)

  • HAZUS-MH is a GIS-based computer program that estimates potential losses from multi-hazard phenomena: earthquakes, floods and hurricanes. With respect to seismic disaster, characteristics of a hypothetical or actual earthquake are entered into HAZUS. Then HAZUS estimates the intensity of ground shaking and calculates the correspondent losses. In this study, HAZUS was used as a part of the preparations of the future seismic events at a coastal plant facility area. To reliably characterize the target facility area, many geotechnical characteristics data were synthesized from the existing site investigation reports. And the buildings and facilities were sorted by analyzing their material and structural characteristics. In particular, the study area was divided into 17 blocks taking into account the situation of both land development and facility distribution. The ground conditions of blocks were categorized according to the site classification scheme for earthquake-resistant design. Moreover, seismic fragility curves of a main facilities were derived based on the numerical modeling and were incorporated into the database in HAZUS. The results estimated in the study area using HAZUS showed various seismic damage and loss potentials depending on site conditions and structural categories. This case study verified the usefulness of the HAZUS for estimating earthquake losses in coastal facility areas.
