Landscape Design Method and View Point Field of Suspension Bridges (현수교의 경관설계 방법과 시점장)

  • 교량설계에 있어서는 교량의 기능과 안전성, 경제성 등 구조 광학적인 면을 고려하여 설계하게 되는데 최근에는 교량의 경관설계에 관해서도 많은 관심을 갖고 있다. 그러나, 국내에선 교량의 구조적인 측면에서의 연구는 활발하게 이루어지고 있으나 교량의 경관설계에 대한 연구는 거의 이루어지고 있지 않다. 따라서, 본 연구의 목적은 교량의 구조 공학적인 판단과 경관 공학적인 판단에 의해서 교량 형식을 결정하는 방법과 선호도가 높은 현수교의 시점장을 분석하는데 있다. 교량형식을 결정하는 방법은 기초설계단계에서 Seen 경관을 고려하여 교량의 유형을 결정하고, 교량의 구조적인 정.동역학적 검토와 Seen경관.Sequence 경관 등을 고려하여 교종의 형식을 결정하게 되는 각 단계별 설계조건에 따른 교량설계 방법을 흐름도로 제시하였다. 또한, 현수교의 시점장의 범위를 정량적으로 나타내기 위해서 교량전체에 대한 시선입사각, 가까운 쪽의 주탑에 대한 시선입사각, 가까운 쪽 주탑의 외관 크기에 대한 연직시각, 교량전체가 시야에 들어올 수 있는 수평시각 등을 주시실험 자료와 Professional 현수교의 사진에 의한 구조형태의 비율 등을 측정하여 분석 교차한 결과 교량전체에 대한 시선입사각 $\alpha$=(15$\pm$7.5)$^{\circ}$, 가까운 쪽의 주탑에 대한 시선입사각 V=(30$\pm$7.5)$^{\circ}$, 가까운 쪽 주탑의 외관 크기에 대한 연직시각 18$^{\circ}$$\leq$$\delta$27$^{\circ}$, 교량전체가 시야에 들어올 수 있는 수평시각 $\theta$$\leq$60$^{\circ}$의 시점장을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the various cinematic gaze and its realization through Seojong MA-Residence in Yangpyeong-gun, completed in 2016. This paper will focus on what kinds of cinematic concepts and design ideas were selected and considered in the stage of concept design, then how the site plan, floor plan, elevation and section design were developed in the stage of schematic design, and finally how much of the design intentions were successfully realized to the residential building. Architectural sketches, physical models and drawings at the concept & schematic design stage were reviewed. After the construction, some important issues were successfully realized such as interesting cinematic views to outside, visual openness and inflow of sunlight.

  • "Tourist Gaze" discussion in the 21st century introduces that tourist is the post-modern and post-fordism figure. Festival visitors can be said as one of the post-modern tourists, so this figure has "performance turn" feature as well. It will be discussed here why festival visitors of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival want to visit the festival. As post-modern and post-fordism figure, festival visitors want to experience autonomy, competence and relationshjp based on the performance turn.

  • 현대 사회에서 해상 운송은 전체 화물 운송의 약 80%를 차지하는 국제 무역 및 경제 활동의 핵심적인 요소이다. 이에 따라 선박 교통 관제는 해상 안전과 운송 효율성을 향상시키는 데 있어 아주 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있다. 보다 안전한 해상 운송을 지속하기 위해서는 효율적이고 스마트한 선박 교통 관제 시스템이 필수적이므로 본 연구에서는 선박 교통 관제 시스템인 VTS 운용 콘솔 상 해상교통위험도를 시각화하는 것을 제안한다. 우선, 현 관제사를 대상으로 시선 추적 실험을 실시함으로써 관제사의 시선 분포를 통해 주요 관찰 대상과 작업 우선순위 등을 살펴보았다. 이후 동일한 해역에 동일한 시간대의 교통 밀도와 해상 교통 위험도를 정량적으로 평가하고, 이를 관제사의 시선 추적 데이터와 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 객관적인 데이터를 활용하여 관제사의 의사 결정과 수행 업무를 지원하는 것이 해상 교통 관리의 효율성과 안전성을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이는 미래에 보다 안전하고 효율적인 해상 운송 시스템의 구현을 위한 실질적인 기여가 될 것으로 기대된다.

Gaze Detection System by Wide and Narrow View Camera (광각 및 협각 카메라를 이용한 시선 위치 추적 시스템)

  • Gaze detection is to locate the position on a monitor screen where a user is looking by computer vision. Previous gaze detection system uses a wide view camera, which can capture the whole face of user. However, the image resolution is too low with such a camera and the fine movements of user's eye cannot be exactly detected. So, we implement the gaze detection system with a wide view camera and a narrow view camera. In order to detect the position of user's eye changed by facial movements, the narrow view camera has the functionalities of auto focusing and auto pan/tilt based on the detected 3D facial feature positions. As experimental results, we can obtain the facial and eye gaze position on a monitor and the gaze position accuracy between the computed positions and the real ones is about 3.1 cm of RMS error in case of Permitting facial movements and 3.57 cm in case of permitting facial and eye movement. The processing time is so short as to be implemented in real-time system(below 30 msec in Pentium -IV 1.8 GHz)

  • Website usability has been considered as a critical success factor for e-business. It has been widely acknowledged that website design with high level of usability results in positive outcomes including the increased number of visitors and vigorous user activities. Navigation which is an action for accessing and finding information is closely related with web usability when user access website providing information. The purpose of this study is to obtain design insights for improving website navigability of Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHW). Action research and gaze analysis methods were applied, and we found design issues with regard to navigability in MHW website and the way how to improve. The lessons and implementation experiences will be beneficial in stimulating further theoretical work from researchers in the area of web usability. We also expect our study provide significant insights for design practitioners.

Gaze Tracking Using a Modified Starburst Algorithm and Homography Normalization (수정 Starburst 알고리즘과 Homography Normalization을 이용한 시선추적)

  • In this paper, an accurate remote gaze tracking method with two cameras is presented using a modified Starburst algorithm and honography normalization. Starburst algorithm, which was originally developed for head-mounted systems, often fails in detecting accurate pupil centers in remote tracking systems with a larger field of view due to lots of noises. A region of interest area for pupil is found using template matching, and then only within this area Starburst algorithm is applied to yield pupil boundary candidate points. These are used in improved RANSAC ellipse fitting to produce the pupil center. For gaze estimation robust to head movement, an improved homography normalization using four LEDs and calibration based on high order polynomials is proposed. Finally, it is shown that accuracy and robustness of the system is improved using two cameras rather than one camera.

Design and Implementation of Eye-Gaze Estimation Algorithm based on Extraction of Eye Contour and Pupil Region (눈 윤곽선과 눈동자 영역 추출 기반 시선 추정 알고리즘의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this study, we design and implement an eye-gaze estimation system based on the extraction of eye contour and pupil region. In order to effectively extract the contour of the eye and region of pupil, the face candidate regions were extracted first. For the detection of face, YCbCr value range for normal Asian face color was defined by the pre-study of the Asian face images. The biggest skin color region was defined as a face candidate region and the eye regions were extracted by applying the contour and color feature analysis method to the upper 50% region of the face candidate region. The detected eye region was divided into three segments and the pupil pixels in each pupil segment were counted. The eye-gaze was determined into one of three directions, that is, left, center, and right, by the number of pupil pixels in three segments. In the experiments using 5,616 images of 20 test subjects, the eye-gaze was estimated with about 91 percent accuracy.

  • A navigation system for virtual environments using low-quality HMD(head mounted display)must quantize images when the system presents true-color image with restricted number of colors. Such navigation system quantizes an image by using fixed palette. If the system represents an image by using a variable palette which is made considering a region around the viewpoint then user can perceive a virtual environments more vividly because human visual system is sensitive to the colors variation in the region around the viewpoint. In this paper we propose a color quantization algorithm that quantize a region around the viewpoint more finely than other regions at each variation of viewpoint for virtual environments navigation system and compose virtual environments navigation system using proposed algorithm. The system quantizes an image at each variation of viewpoint and shows a quantized image to user through HMD. We tested user preferences for our proposed system and the results show that users preferred our system.

  • This paper is a research of gaze analysis for measuring task switching behavior at multiple windows in GUI of windowing system. Previous methods that define area of interest for categorizing gaze had difficulties to define dynamic content that disappears or changes over time. On the other hand, this study suggests a new method to categorize gaze that defines Area of interest in a unit of window during the eye tracking experiment. In this paper, we constructed the conception of WOI(Window of Interest) in GUI of windowing system. Therefore, we developed a system using an eye tracker device and implemented a number of experiments. In addition, we analyzed the number of task switching and proportion of watched content. The method in the study comprehend from previous researches as it can measure and analyze the multi-tasking behaviors using multiple numbers of windows.
