An Integrated Simulation Approach for Evaluating Speed Management Strategies Considering Public Health (공공보건을 고려한 시뮬레이션 연계기반 속도관리전략 평가기법 개발)

  • Recent interests in both vehicle emissions and public health have facilitated the development of more eco-friendly transportation systems. This study proposed an integrated simulation approach for evaluating the effectiveness of speed management strategies from the various perspectives including safety, operational efficiency, and environmental compatability. Those simulation methods include driving simulation, traffic flow simulation, emissions simulation, and air dispersion simulation. An essence of the proposed simulation framework is to create the systematic connection of each simulation method toward the evaluation of effectiveness of speed management strategies. As an example, chicane and speed hump in residential area were evaluated by the proposed method. It is expected that the proposed simulation-based approach would be effectively used for the decision-making process in selecting better alternatives considering both safety and public health.

  • Concept of URC does "with me wherever when, and the robot" which provides necessary service to me can be simply defined. This paper uses URC technology and various robots are implemented with a design. That is, we are going to implement that a user controls a virtual robot by communication between URC server with a design. We used an intelligent robot simulation tool, and a developer was easy, and it was intelligent, and we were connected to active URC server, and modeling did a system for simulation to be able to do an URC robot usefully. It was connected to an URC system and various robots and environments were composed with 3D, and, in this paper, a design and implementation did an intelligent robot simulation system so that it was possible by various contents development through simulation. The URC communication protocol and the URC server were based on a Planet v.1.2 ; Network Protocol, CAMUS(Context-Aware Middleware for URC Systems); URC Server, SAM(Service Agent Manager) v.1.2 ; Service API module developed in Electronics & Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).

CTF 메모리소자의 Recess Field의 모양에 따른 전기적 특성 변화

  • CTF 메모리 소자는 높은 집적도와 낮은 구동전압과 CMOS 공정을 그대로 사용할 수 있고 비례 축소가 용이하다는 장점을 가지기 때문에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. CTF 메모리의 게이트 크기가 30 nm 이하로 작아짐에 따라 메모리 셀 간의 간섭이 매우 크게 증가하는 문제점이 있다. 이 문제점을 해결하기 위해 낸드 플래쉬 메모리 소자에서 셀 간 간섭 현상에 대한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 $TaN-Al_2O_3-SiN-SiO_2-Si$ (TANOS) 플래쉬 메모리 소자에서 recess field의 모양에 따른 전기적 특성을 시뮬레이션 하였다. Recess field는 각 전하 트랩 층의 word 라인 방향에 존재하며 셀 간 간섭 효과를 줄이고 메모리 소자의 coupling ratio를 증가시키는 효과를 가지고 있다. TANOS 메모리 소자의 게이트 크기를 25 nm 에서 40 nm 로 변화하면서 round 타입의 recess field와 angular 타입의 recess field 에 대한 전기적 특성을 3차원 시뮬레이션 툴인 Sentaurus를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. Recess field를 가지지 않은 TANOS 메모리의 셀 간 간섭 효과는 게이트의 크기가 40 nm에서 25 nm 줄어들 때 많이 증가한다. 시뮬레이션된 결과에서 recess field의 모양에 상관없이 깊이가 늘어남에 따라 셀 간 간섭효과가 감소하였다. Recess field 의 깊이가 커짐에 따라 surrounding area가 늘어나 coupling ratio 가 증가하였다. Recess field 의 깊이가 증가함에 따라 프로그램 동작 시 트랩 층에 트랩 되는 전하의 수가 증가하고 recess field가 Si 기판의 표면에 가까이 위치할수록 coupling ratio, 드레인 전류 및 동작속도가 증가하였다. Recess field의 모양에 달리 하였을 때는 round 타입의 recess field를 가진 플래쉬 메모리 디바이스가 angular 타입의 recess field를 가진 소자와 비교하여 채널 표면의 잉여 전계가 감소하여 subthreshold leakage current 감소하였다. 본 연구의 시뮬레이션 결과는 수십 나노 스케일의 CTF 낸드 플래쉬 메모리 전기적 특성을 이해하는데 도움을 줄 것이다.

3D Object Modeling for Laser Radar Simulation (레이저레이더 시뮬레이션을 위한 3차원 객체 모델링)

  • The improvement of the performance in laser radar simulation requires fast retrievals of the spatial locations and attributes of objects in response to the laser signals of the simulators. Since the data used in simulation are complex 3D objects such as terrain, buildings and vehicles, and are of large sizes, commonly used 3D modeling tools are not suitable for this use. We proposed a method to store such 3D objects in a database, perform required queries and integrate with visualization tools. We showed the processes for the data modeling based on 3D topological concepts and then building a spatial DBMS. Also, we illustrated the process for accessing and visualizing the stored data using VRML and performed test computations using some laser signal data. With further enhancement on data modeling and LOD problems in visualization, the proposed method will be practically applied in different situations including laser simulation.

  • Wireless sensor network (WSN) technology has been implemented using commercial off-the-shelf microcontrollers (MCUs), In this paper, we propose a simulation environment to realize the physical evaluation of FPGA-based node by considering vertically cross-layered WSN in terms of physical node device and network interconnection perspective. The proposed simulation framework emulates the physical FPGA-based sensor nodes to interoperate with the NS3 through the runtime infrastructure (RTI). For the emulation and interoperation of FPGA-based nodes, we extend a vendor-providing FPGA design tool from the host computer and a script to execute the interoperation procedures. The standalone NS-3 is also revised to perform interoperation through the RTI. To resolve the different time-advance mechanisms between the FPGA emulation and event-driven NS3 simulation, the pre-simulation technique is applied to the proposed environment. The proposed environment is applied to IEEE 802.15.4-based low-rate, wireless personal area network communication.

A Study on the Process Variation Analysis for CNTFET-based Circuit Design (CNTFET 기반 회로 설계를 위한 공정 편차 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The CNTFET, which is widely recognized as a next-generation semiconductor, has a structure that can improve performance by positioning CNTs between the source and drain of a conventional MOSFET. However, positioning CNTs increases the complexity of a CNTFET's structure, and the process variation changes the complex structure into various shapes; so, when CNTFET device performance is analyzed, it requires more computation than that of a conventional MOSFET. These problems greatly increase the simulation time necessary for the analysis, and sometimes that analysis cannot be performed using an existing tool; they are therefore important obstacles to designing a circuit using a CNTFET. In this study, we will show that the existing Linear Programming methodology can be utilized to solve the long simulation time problem and discuss the effect of the suggested method in detail. Simulation results show that the Linear Programming method can reduce the number of simulation about 2.5 times when the maximum number of CNT is changed from 6 to 12.

  • Heavy ion therapy has a high cure rate for cancer cell. So many countries are introducing heavy ion therapy facility. When treating a cancer using heavy ion therapy, neutrons and gamma rays are generated and affect electronic equipment. A budget of about KRW 200 billion is needed to build a heavy ion therapy facility, and it takes more than five years to build it. Therefore it is important to observe the dose distribution in the treatment room using the monte carlo simulation before construction. In this study, we used the FLUKA of monte carlo simulation to investigate the dose distribution in the heavy ion treatment room.

Simulation of Efficient Flow Control for FAB of Semiconductor Manufacturing (반도체 FAB 공정에서의 효율적 흐름제어를 위한 시뮬레이션)

  • The ultimate goal of flow control in the semiconductor fabrication process, one of the most equipment-intensive and complex manufacturing process, is to reduce lead time and work in process. In this paper, we propose stand alone layout in the form of job shop using group technology to improve the Productivity and eliminate the inefficiency in FMS (flexible manufacture system). The performance of stand alone layout and in-line layout are analyzed and compared while varying number of device variable chanties. The analysis of in-line layout is obtained by examining its adoption in the memory products of semiconductor factory. The comparison is performed through simulation using ProSys; a window 95 based discrete system simulation software, as a tool for comparing performance of two proposed layouts. The comparison demonstrates that when the number of device variable change is small, in-line layout is more efficient in terms of production Quantity. However, as the number of device variable change is more than 14 times, stand alone layout prevails over in-line layout.

  • The primary purpose of this study is to build computer models referring overall flow of complex and various semiconductor wafer manufacturing process and to implement a educational model which operates with a presentation tool showing device design. It is important that Korean semiconductor industries secure high competitive power on efficient manufacturing management and to develop technology continuously. Models representing the FAB processes and the functions of each process are developed for Seoul National University Semiconductor Research Center. However, it is expected that the models are effective as visually educational tools in Korean semiconductor industries. In addition, it is anticipated that these models are useful for semiconductor process courses in academia. Scalability and flexibility allow semiconductor manufacturers to customize the models and perform simulation education. Subsequently, manufacturers save budget.

  • In this study, an advanced knee joint for active prosthesis leg driven by a linear actuator is suggested. The structure of knee joints of existing active prosthesis legs consists of three links. This kind of linkage requires large torque to drive the active prosthesis legs. Thus a new linkage structure is suggested to solve such problem in this paper. Motion characteristics of the suggested linkage are examined in the simulation. The motion simulation results show that the proposed linkage is able to imitate human gait cycles with the half of linear actuator speed in existing linkages.
