Effect of Sintering Temperature on the Properties of $CaSiO_4:RE^{3+}$(RE=Eu, Sm, Tb, Dy, Ce) Phosphors

  • 최근에 고효율의 형광체를 개발하고자 무기물 모체에 주입된 희토류 이온의 발광에 대한 연구가 급부상하고 있다. 형광체는 고휘도, 넓은 시청 각도와 저 비용으로 인하여 대형 평판 디스플레이 분야로 그 응용성을 확장하는 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널 제작에 있어서 매우 중요한 물질이다. 현재 적색 형광체로 널리 사용되고 있는 발광 물질은 YBO3:Eu3+ 혹은 (Y,Gd)BO3:Eu3+ 형광체이지만, Eu3+ 이온이 중심대칭의 자리에 위치하기 때문에, Eu3+ 이온의 5D07F1 전이에 의한 주황색의 발광 세기가 5D07F2 전이에 의한 적색의 세기보다 강하여 고품질의 색상을 구현하는데 상당한 어려움이 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 새로운 모체 격자를 갖는 적색, 녹색, 청색 형광체 개발에 많은 노력이 집중되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 형광체 합성시 중요한 변수의 하나인 소결 온도가 새로운 다양한 색을 방출하는 형광체 분말 CaSiO4:RE3+ (RE=Eu, Sm, Tb, Dy, Ce)의 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. CaSiO4:RE3+ (RE=Eu, Sm, Tb, Dy, Ce) 형광체 분말 시료는 초기 물질 CaO (99.99%), SiO2 (99.99%), Eu2O3 (99.99%), Sm2O3 (99.9%), Tb4O7 (99.9%), Dy2O3 (99.9%), CeO2 (99.9%)을 화학적량으로 준비하였다. 볼밀, 건조 작업을 한 후에, 시료를 막자사발에 넣고 분쇄하여 3시간의 하소 공정과 5시간의 소결 공정을 수행하였다. 이때 소결 온도를 변수로 선택하여 각각 $800^{\circ}C$, $900^{\circ}C$, $1,000^{\circ}C$, $1,100^{\circ}C$에서 소결 작업을 수행하여 합성 분말의 구조, 표면, 광학적 특성을 측정하여 소결 온도가 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. Eu3+가 도핑된 CaSiO4 형광체 분말의 경우에, 발광 스펙트럼은 597, 618, 655, 707 nm에서 관측되었으며, 소결 온도가 $800^{\circ}C$에서 $1,100^{\circ}C$로 증가함에 따라 모든 발광 스펙트럼의 세기는 순차적으로 증가함을 나타내었다. Tb3+가 도핑된 CaSiO4 형광체 분말의 경우에 관측된 발광 스펙트럼은 주 피크인 549 nm를 중심으로 하여 세기가 상대적으로 작은 493, 592, 626 nm의 피크들이 관측되었으며, 소결 온도가 증가함에 따라 전반적으로 발광 세기들이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. Sm3+가 도핑된 CaSiO4 형광체의 경우에, 발광 스펙트럼은 전형적인 Sm3+이온에 의한 전이 신호들이 605, 570, 653 nm에서 나타났다. 발광 스펙트럼의 세기는 소결 온도에 비례하여 증가하였다. Ce3+가 도핑된 경우에 발광 스펙트럼은 소결 온도에 관계없이 401 nm에서 관측되었으며, 소결 온도에 따라 발광 세기의 변화가 나타났다. 이 실험 결과로 부터, 합성시 적절한 소결 온도의 선택이 고발광 효율의 형광체를 제작하는데 있어서 매우 중요한 요소가 됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

Dissolved Methane Measurements in Seawater and Sediment Porewater Using Membrane Inlet Mass Spectrometer (MIMS) System (Membrane Inlet Mass Spectrometer (MIMS) 시스템을 이용한 해수 및 퇴적물 공극수내 용존 메탄의 측정)

  • Membrane inlet mass spectrometer (MIMS) has been used to accurately quantify dissolved gases in liquid samples. In this study, the MIMS system was applied to measure dissolved methane in seawater and sediment porewater. To evaluate the accuracy of the measurement, liquid samples saturated with different methane partial pressure were prepared and the methane concentrations were quantified with the MIMS system. The measured values correspond well with the expected values calculated from solubility constants. The standard error of the measurements were $0.13{\sim}0.9%$ of the mean values. The distribution of dissolved methane concentration in seawater of the South Sea of Korea revealed that the physical parameters primarily control the methane concentration in sea water. The MIMS system was effective to resolve the small dissolved methane difference among water masses. The probe type inlet in MIMS system was proven to be effective to measure porewater methane concentration.

  • PET fabric is used as a regular clothing in the middle-east region which is called Chador as a women's clothing and Thobe as a men's clothing. Then there is a big difference of export price according to the minute hand characteristics of the PET fabrics, of which characteristics are due to the fibre and manufacturing process characteristics. This research surveys the optimum manufacturing conditions related to the fibre and fabric for the Thobe clothing which were developed in this study through comparison with high price Teijin Thobe manufactured in Japan. In this research, four kinds of Teijin fabrics made in Japan were prepared as a target quality specimen, and five kinds of developed fabrics were produced as an experimental specimens. These specimens were made by changing yarn denier, twist, yarn setting conditions and fabric density, which are also changed by twist contraction, weaving and finishing shrinkages. As a result of this study, the sensitive characteristics of Teijin Thobe fabrics can be analysed from fibre and fabric, and then the manufacturing design technology was constructed under the base of low twist texturing and 3 dimensional fabric design simulation technologies.

Fabrication of ZnO incorporated TMA-A zeolite nanocrystals (ZnO를 담지한 TMA-A 제올라이트 나노결정의 제조)

  • Nano-sized ZnO crystals were successfully incorporated using ion exchange method in TMA-A zeolite synthesized by the hydrothermal method. The optimal composition for the synthesis of TMA-A zeolite was resulted in a solution of $Al(i-pro)_3$:2.2 TEOS:2.4 TMAOH:0.3 NaOH:200 $H_2O$. 0.3g of TMA-A zeolite and 5mol of $ZnCl_2$ solution were employed for the preparation of ZnO incorporated TMA-A zeolite. The ZnO incorporated TMA-A zeolite precursors, prepared from the process of mixing, stirring, centrifugal separation and drying, were calcined at temperatures from 400 to $600^{\circ}C$ for 3 h. The crystallization process of ZnO incorporated TMA-A zeolite was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The Brunaur-Emett-Teller (BET) surface area of the ZnO incorporated TMA-A zeolite was measured. Subsequently, the morphology and the particle size depending on the temperature and time were observed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and particle size analyzer.

Thermal conductivity of acrylic composite films containing graphite and carbon nanotube (흑연과 탄소나노튜브를 함유한 아크릴 복합체 박막의 열전도도)

  • 아크릴계 수지(resin)에 인조 흑연과 탄소나노튜브(carbon nanotube)를 1:1 비율로 혼합한 충전제(filler)와 용제(solvent) 및 기타 첨가제(additives)를 혼합하여 방열도료를 제조하여 수직방향 열전도도를 상온에서 평가하였다. 충전제의 함량을 1, 2, 5 중량 %로 변화시키며 원료들을 준비하여 교반기로 혼합한 뒤 3단 롤 밀(three roll mill)로 분산공정을 진행하여 3 종류의 도료를 제조하였다. 제조한 도료를 가로 11 mm, 세로 11 mm, 두께 0.4 mm의 Al 5052 알루미늄 기판에 스프레이 코팅 방식으로 도포한 후 $150^{\circ}C$에서 30분 동안 열경화 건조 과정을 거쳐 샘플을 제작하였다. 측정 시료의 형상은 대략적으로 Fig. 1과 같다. 열전도도는 식 $k={\alpha}{\cdot}C_p{\cdot}{\rho}$를 사용해서 계산된다. 여기서 k는 열전도도($W/m{\cdot}K$), ${\alpha}$는 열확산계수($mm^2/s$), $C_p$는 비열($J/kg{\cdot}K$), ${\rho}$는 밀도($g/cm^3$)를 나타낸다. 열확산계수는 독일 NETZSCH 사의 Laser Flash Analysis 장비(모델명 LFA 457)를 사용하여 측정하였는데, 기판 뒤쪽에서 레이저를 조사하고 도료층 전면에서 적외선 온도센서를 통해 시간에 따른 온도 상승곡선을 구한 후, 두 물체의 계면에서의 접촉 열저항(contact thermal resistance)을 감안하여 장비에 내장되어 있는 소프트웨어로 열확산계수가 계산된다. 비열은 같은 회사의 DSC(Differential Scanning Calorimetry) 200 F3 장비를 사용해 측정했으며, 밀도는 부피와 질량을 측정한 값을 이용하여 계산하였다. 도료를 도포하지 않은 bare Al plate에 대해서는 쉽게 열확산계수, 비열, 밀도를 측정하여 열전도도를 구할 수 있다. 도료가 코팅된 샘플에 대해서는 도료층을 일부 떼어내 비열을 측정하고, 밀도를 구한 후, 도료층의 열전도도가 2-layer 법으로 장비 내장 소프트웨어로 계산된다, 이때 Al 기판의 열확산계수, 비열, 밀도는 미리 측정한 bare Al plate의 값을 적용하였다. 실험 결과를 Table 1에 정리하였다. 흑연과 탄소나노튜브를 혼합한 충전제를 함유한 아크릴 복합체 박막에서 측정된 열전도도는 보통 고분자 재료의 열전도도 값의 상한 영역에 육박하는 값이며, 충전제 함량이 증가할수록 열전도도가 증가하는 경향을 보이고 있다.

Color Enhancement for Cubic Zirconia with Low Temperature Annealing (큐빅지르코니아의 색향상을 위한 저온열처리 공정 연구)

  • Colored cubic zirconia specimen made by skull melt process were annealed in vacuum at the temperature of $1200^{\circ}C{\sim}1400^{\circ}C$ for 10~60 minutes to enhance the color. All the seven specimen become darker and eventually be black as annealing temperature and time increase. The black samples turned into original colors when we elevated the temperature with oxy-acetylene torch for around 10 minutes in the air. Finally, we could tune the colors of cubic zirconia either anneal in vacuum or the black samples in the air to obtain the proposed colors. Our proposed new process may be appropriate to fabricate the precious synthetic colored cubic zirconia to simulate the natural colored gem quality diamonds.

Characterization of Leather Skin Layer Coatings on Water Dispersed Polyurethane Applied with Eathyl Acetate and Piperazine (Eathyl acetate와 Piperazine이 적용된 수분산 폴리우레탄의 Skin layer 코팅에 따른 특성 연구)

  • In this study, prepolymer was synthesized through the reaction of isoporon diisocyanate (IPDI) and dimethylolbutanoic acid (DMBA) based on poly (tetramethylene ether) glycol (PTMG) for the synthesis of water-soluble polyurethane to be used as a leather surface coating applied with ethyl acetate and piperazine. Thereafter, the piperazine was chain-extended with 0.01 M, 0.03 M, 0.05 M, and 0.07 M in the water-dispersed resin, and the tensile strength, elongation, CV (cyclic voltammetry), and solvent resistance analysis were performed. Tensile strength of the prepared sample was measured at 5.422 kgf/㎟ when the piperazine content was 0.07M, and elongation was measured as 587% when the piperazine was 0.01M. Solvent resistance analysis showed the same solvent resistance regardless of piperazine content, and the redox potential was changed according to piperazine content through CV measurement.

Analysis of intracellular amino acids in the fermentation of Pichia pastoris X-33 and KM71H

  • Analysis of extra- and intra- cellular metabolites is very important to study cell metabolish. Intracellular amino acids in yeast are of great interest as precursors of desired products in biomass production of the feed industries and the production of glutamate. In this study, the fermentations of P. pastoris X-33 and KM71H were carried out in shake flasks. After centrifugation, the harvested cells were mechanically disrupted by using glass bead. The supernatants were used to analyze intracellular amino acid by HPLC system. For HPLC analysis, Resolve C18 column was used with Fluorescence detector. The OPA(o-phthalaldehyde) derivation reaction was employed for analysing amino acids at 30 $^{\circ}C$, 1 ml/min and gradient mode. The concentration of intracellular protein was measured by spectrophotometer.

Characteristics of Pore Pressure and Volume Change During Undrained lending of Unsaturated Compacted Granite Soil (비배수전단시 불포화 다짐화강토의 간극압과 체적변형특성)

  • A series of triaxial compression tests were performed on samples of compacted granite soil in a modified triaxial cell that allowed separate control of pore air pressure ($U_a$) and pore water pressure ($U_w$) in order to examine the characteristics of pore pressure, volume change and stress-strain behavior during undrained loading conditions. Triaxial samples of unsaturated and saturated compacted granite soil, 50mm in diameter and 100mm in height, were prepared by compaction in a mould. These samples were tested at 3 different suction values (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 kgf/cm$^2$) for unsaturated compacted granite soil and at 3 different confining stresses (1.0, 2.0, 4.0 kgf/cm$^2$). Results showed that only effective cohesion increased with little variation of friction angle, according to matric suction.

  • 1) The decrease in strength of netting twines at the twisted joint is regarded to be due mainly to tile frictional force between plied yarns, but tile rate of decresae is within $5\%$ in filament twines and 5 to $10\%$ in spun twines. 2) The variation of the twisted joint strength with the angle between the two adjacent bars draws a parabola flaying the minimum value at tile angle of $90^{\circ}$. The minimum value was revealed as about $90\%$ of the strength at the angle of $0^{\circ}$ in wet spun twiness, but regarded to hi negligibly small filament twines. 3) The knot strength is about $30{\pm}5\%$of the twisted joint strength.
