  • As the number of Internet users and applications is increasing, the importance of application traffic classification is growing more and more for efficient network management. While a number of methods for traffic classification have been introduced, such as signature-based and machine learning-based methods, Skype application, which uses encrypted communication on its own P2P network, is known as one of the most difficult traffic to identify. In this paper we propose a novel method to identify Skype application traffic on the fly. The main idea is to setup a list of Skype host information {IP, port} by examining the packets generated in the Skype login process and utilizes the list to identify other Skype traffic. By implementing the identification system and deploying it on our campus network, we proved the performance and feasibility of the proposed method.

  • Malware is generally recognized as a computer program that penetrates another computer system and causes malicious behavior intended by the developer. In cyberspace, it is also used as a cyber weapon to attack adversary. The most important factor that a malware must have as a cyber weapon is that it must achieve its intended purpose before being detected by the other's detection system. It requires a lot of time and expertise to create a single malware to avoid the other's detection system. We propose the framework that automatically generates variant malware when a binary code type malware is input using the DCM technique. In this framework, the sample malware was automatically converted into variant malware, and it was confirmed that this variant malware was not detected in the signature-based malware detection system.

  • It is easy to access to the infinity information and programs, but it gives rise to the side effect. There are many side effects(ex. Hacking, Cracking, expose the personal information, etc). Nowadays, the computer virus raise the serious problems. The making program called Vaccine is work out a count measure. The Anti-Virus programs install on the client side computer and upgrade by downloading on the server's signature, the latest date, the program bound both of them is shown, but these programs have the defect that they have no remote control and no signature update because user's unconcern, This paper reported the research of existing virus infecting technology and the development of Web based Anti-Virus Scanner using the remote control on the internet server. Through this paper, I want to set up the counter measure for new virus easily, and to make more fast the vaccine for virus.

  • Nowadays, email-based targeted attacks using malcode-bearing documents have been steadily increased. To improve the success rate of the attack and avoid anti-viruses, attackers mainly employ zero-day exploits and relevant social engineering techniques. In this paper, we propose an architecture of the email vaccine cloud system to prevent targeted attacks using malcode-bearing documents. The system extracts attached document files from email messages, performs behavior analysis as well as signature-based detection in the virtual machine environment, and completely removes malicious documents from the messages. In the process of behavior analysis, the documents are regarded as malicious ones in cases of creating executable files, launching new processes, accessing critical registry entries, connecting to the Internet. The email vaccine cloud system will help prevent various cyber terrors such as information leakages by preventing email based targeted attacks.

  • The technologies used by the malicious codes have been being advanced and complicated through a merge of the existing techniques, while the damages by the malicious codes are moving from individuals and industries to organizations and countries. In this situation, the security experts are corresponding with the static analysis and the dynamic analysis such as signature searching and reverse engineering, respectively. However, they have had a hard time to respond against the obfuscated intelligent new zero day malicious codes. Therefore, it is required to prepare a process for a preliminary investigation and consequent detailed investigation on the infection sequence and the hiding mechanism to neutralize the malicious code. In this paper, we studied the formalization of the process against the infection sequence and the file hiding techniques with an empirical application to the Rustock malicious code that is most notorious as a spammer. Using the result, it is expected to promptly respond to newly released malicious codes.

  • Tens of thousands of malicious codes are generated on average in a day. New types of malicious codes are surging each year. Diverse methods are used to detect such codes including those based on signature, API flow, strings, etc. But most of them are limited in detecting new malicious codes due to bypass techniques. Therefore, a lot of researches have been performed for more efficient detection of malicious codes. Of them, visualization technique is one of the most actively researched areas these days. Since the method enables more intuitive recognition of malicious codes, it is useful in detecting and examining a large number of malicious codes efficiently. In this paper, we analyze the relationships between malicious codes and Native API functions. Also, by applying the word cloud with text mining technique, major Native APIs of malicious codes are visualized to assess their maliciousness. The proposed malicious code analysis method would be helpful in intuitively probing behaviors of malware.

  • As the number of applications using the internet the rapidly increasing incidence of cyber attacks made on the internet has been increasing. In the equipment of L3 DDoS attack detection equipment in the world and incomplete detection of application layer based intelligent. Next-generation networks domestic product in high-performance wired and wireless network threat response techniques to meet the diverse requirements of the security solution is to close one performance is insufficient compared to the situation in terms of functionality foreign products, malicious code detection and signature generation research primarily related to has progressed malware detection and analysis of the research center operating in Window OS. In this paper, we describe the current status survey and analysis of the latest variety of new attack techniques and analytical skills with the latest cyber-attack analysis prejudice the security situation.

  • The security of Internet systems critically depends on the capability to keep anti-virus (AV) software up-to-date and maintain high detection accuracy against new malware. However, malware variants evolve so quickly they cannot be detected by conventional signature-based detection. In this paper, we proposed a malware classification method based on sequence patterns generated from the network flow of malware samples. We evaluated our method with 766 malware samples and obtained a classification accuracy of approximately 40.4%. In this study, malicious codes were classified only by network behavior of malicious codes, excluding codes and other characteristics. Therefore, this study is expected to be further developed in the future. Also, we can predict the attack groups and additional attacks can be prevented.

  • This paper suggests Effectiveness Evaluation Methods of DDoS attacks countermeasures model by simulation. According to the security objectives that are suggested by NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology), It represents a hierarchical Effectiveness Evaluation Model. we calculated the weights of factors that security objectives, security controls, performance indicator through AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) analysis. Subsequently, we implemented Arena Simulation Model for the calculation of function points at the performance indicator. The detection and protection algorithm involve methods of critical-level setting, signature and anomaly(statistic) based detection techniques for Network Layer 4, 7 attacks. Proposed Effectiveness Evaluation Model can be diversely used to evaluate effectiveness of countermeasures and techniques for new security threats each organization.

  • Ransomware detection has become a hot topic in computer security for protecting digital contents. Unfortunately, current signature-based and static detection models are often easily evadable by compress, and encryption. For overcoming the lack of these detection approach, we have proposed the dynamic ransomware detection system using data mining techniques such as RF, SVM, SL and NB algorithms. We monitor the actual behaviors of software to generate API calls flow graphs. Thereafter, data normalization and feature selection were applied to select informative features. We improved this analysis process. Finally, the data mining algorithms were used for building the detection model for judging whether the software is benign software or ransomware. We conduct our experiment using more suitable real ransomware samples. and it's results show that our proposed system can be more effective to improve the performance for ransomware detection.
