Spatio-Temporal Visualization of Cultural Heritage Collections (문화유산 데이터의 시공간상 시각화 연구)

  • 본 연구는 문화유산 데이터의 효과적 정보 시각화 방안을 탐색한다. 문화유산 데이터는 역사적 사회적 맥락 속에서 충실히 이해될 수 있기에, 지리적 평면과 시간 축으로 이루어지는 3차원 시공간 큐브상에 문화유산 데이터들을 배치하는 것은 문화유산의 특성을 반영하면서도 통시적·공시적 조망을 동시에 제공하는 유익한 시각화 방안이 될 수 있다. 이를 확인하기 위해 문화유산 컬렉션 데이터를 지도 평면과 시간 축으로 구성된 시공간 큐브 상에서 탐색·체험할 수 있는 웹 어플리케이션과 AR 어플리케이션을 구현하고, 이에 대한 사용자 평가를 실시했다. 평가 분석 결과 문화유산 데이터의 3차원 시각화는 데이터에 대한 총체적 시야를 제공하고 새로운 체험에 대한 관심과 호기심을 유발하는 한편, 낯선 형식으로 인한 인지적 피로가 뒤따를 수 있어 대상 데이터의 특성, 매체 형식의 특성, 사용자의 경험적 이해, 인간의 지각방식을 고려한 다각적 정보 체험 설계가 필요할 것으로 파악되었다.

A Comparative Study on the Brand Experiences of Metaverse and Offline Stores (메타버스와 오프라인 스토어의 브랜드 체험 비교 연구)

  • In recent times, more fashion brands have been seeking ways to use metaverse platforms, in which users can actively participate, as their new brand touch-points. This study aims to compare the brand experiences of the fashion brand Gentle Monster's offline store and its equivalent metaverse store. By changing the order of offline and metaverse visits, two groups participated in the field study that allowed them to experience directly the offline and metaverse stores. As a result of the analysis, the following findings were discovered: (1) In the overall experiential response, the frequency of sensory modules responding to new information was much higher than that of feeling experiences; (2) Experiential responses were more active in the offline store where the subjects could touch and use products directly rather than in the metaverse; (3) Among the four types of theme space, the experiential response was the most frequent in the product space; (4) The first group that visited the metaverse store before the offline store showed a more active experience than the second group that visited the offline store first. Finally, the results of this study show that metaverse brand stores in virtual space not only provide differentiated experiences beyond the spatiotemporal constraints of real space but can also be used as a strategic tool to make offline store experiences more meaningful and rich.

The Significance of Audience's Reception and the Imagination on Transcendental World in Yungyungdang Jinjak(演慶堂進爵) (연경당 진작(演慶堂進爵)의 관극 체험과 무대미학)

  • According to "Jinjak-yigwe(進爵儀軌)", a special banquet was held at Yungyungdang(演慶堂, a kind of royal theatre) to celebrate the 40th birthday of Queen Soonwon(純元王后) in 1828. This banquet is famous for the presentation of nineteen new Jungjae(呈才) repertoires that the Crown Prince Hyomyung(孝明) created. In order to explore the theoretical basis for the reproduction and presentation of Yungyungdang(演慶堂) Jinjak(進爵, a type of royal banquets), in this article, the imagination and experience of the presentation of Yungyungdang Jinjak are pursued, while focussing on audience's reception. In Yungyungdang Jinjak, King Soonjo(純祖), Queen Soonwon and the prince were the special audience; they participated in the procedure of Ye(禮, etiquette of ceremony) and also were considered as the characters of certain repertoire of Jungjae. Hyomyung arranged the spectacles from the myths of Taoist gods and immortal hermits, as well as historic episodes of the past emperors' elegant tastes of music. These mythic and historic images lead the audience toward the imagination and experience on the transcendental world. Hyomyung, managing the administration as the representative of King Soonjo, tried to show absolute royal authority through the splendid performances of Yungyungdang Jinjak, so as to overcome the politicaly difficult situation. He set up the sacred world for his father King Soonjo, distinct from the secular ordinary world, and emphasized his position as the bridge between the two sides. He expressed his filial duty through the devotion of performing arts to display absolute royal authority.

  • 인간은 누구나 지구상의 수십억 인구 중 하나의 구성원으로 살아가고 있으며, 그 현실은 자신의 마음대로 움직여주지 않을 뿐만 아니라, 그 활동반경 역시 제한적일 수 밖에 없다. 시간과 공간, 그리고 환경이라는 현실적 제약으로부터 탈피하기 위해 우리는 가상이라는 기술을 이용한다. 가상을 통해 우리는 원하는 대로 현실과 동떨어진 세계를 체험하는 흥미나 오락위주의 기술을 발전시켜 왔지만, 현실과 괴리, 게임 중독, 사회 부적응 등의 부작용을 가져왔다. 그러나, 최근 가상기술이 인간의 생활, 경제, 훈련, 교육, 의료, 국방 등에 다양하게 적용되면서 더 이상 가상기술이 현실과 독립적으로 떨어진 것이 아닌 현실과 혼합된 형태의 서비스로 변화해 왔다. 다시 말해 현실의 시공간적 제약을 가상으로만 해결하는 것이 아니라, 현실환경을 배경으로하는 서비스로 진화한 것이다. 가상쇼핑을 통해 실제물건을 구매하고, 가상드레스를 입어보고 맞춤형 의복을 만들어 내거나, 루부르박물관을 가상으로 투어하고, GPS를 이용하여 자신의 위치에서 가장 가까운 커피숍을 찾는 등 점차 가상기술이 현실로 침투해 오고 있다. 이제 보여야 믿는다 (seeing is believing)는 말은 구시대적 발상이 되었다. 보인다고 실제로 있는 것이 아니고, 안보인다고 진짜 없는 것도 아니다. 사람조차도 가상으로 만들어 실제의 사람들과 공존하는 세계를 보여준 "써로게이트"라는 영화가 아직은 먼 미래의 기술처럼 생각되겠지만, 이러한 혼합세계에 다가가기 위한 기술적 접근이 초보단계에서 이루어지고 있으며, 본 고에서는 이를 위한 가상현실 기반기술의 개발현황과 국가 정책방향에 대하여 살펴보고자 한다.

Feature of Intertextuality Environmental Arts -Focusing on Feature of fantasy post-place, speciality of place as well as temporal-spatial expression method- (상호텍스트적인 환경예술의 특성 -환상성.탈 장소성, 장소의 특수성과 시공간 표현방법에 대한 특성을 중심으로-)

  • Modern society is diversified society and is under complicated situation as the boundary of each area has been disappeared. To understand and accept such complicated situation as widely as possible, it is required to understand interaction. of receiver with intertextual environmental arts as the structure of open text. This study examined interaction of environmental arts in terms of intertextual feature based on experience of receiver on combined element of different space and time, combination of genres. This is the concept of meaning personal experience or situation as receiver participates the process of completing art works, and set the fantasy, post-place and speciality of location and temporal-spatial expression method, as characteristics of intertextuality. Features of such experience elements are used as methodology of analyzing characteristics of each work. Feature of fantasy uses strategy of inducing spatial experience of receiver with dematerialization for post-place and expands the place where events occur with intervention of contingency and event situation. It suggests the spatial-temporal expression method as the features focusing on process and reflecting changes in spatial-temporal continuum and speciality of place emphasizing context of place. In conclusion, environmental arts needs to be deep rooted on complicated existence aspect of receiver beyond metaphysical dimension depending on presence and to accomplish conversion of awareness of supplying bisection of life from that place. By doing so, environmental arts can live textual life as it gets together with all other texts in terms of text dimension and creativity can be reborn as practical creativity in intertextuality rather than uniqueness. Such combination with other areas and acceptance of various aspects of receivers who see and experience this will result to creation of open works which can be create newly over and over again in multi-dimensional aspects.

  • Users who want to experience the metaverse for tourism are exposed to strategic planning in space for the purpose of cultural content. In addition, users learn integrated cultural content in the process of proceeding according to the virtual environment. and Along with the meaning of time and space, users will experience space-telling. It is important to induce interest from the beginning of the experience to continue the experience. However, obstacles arise in this process. This is because developers should promote connections with new information to users who do not have sufficient prior knowledge and only have keywords of interest. Therefore, efficient design methods to enhance interest should be studied in advance. But so far, there has been no research on how to systematically design prior organizers to induce interest in virtual space. This study is an interest-inducing design method that occurs in the process of developing the meaning of virtual space and storytelling of cultural content, and can be seen as a basic study using conceptual guidance-based prior organizer education and learning techniques. First, virtual space elements and human behavior theories were considered. Subsequently, five representative examples of previous organizers currently used were explored, and redesigned and proposed based on a conceptual map for information access and delivery purposes. Through this research process, it was possible to confirm that spatial attributes and cognitive interest elements were effectively transmitted to meaningful learning leading to storytelling learning and elements of service design design method through conceptual guidance.

  • From the perspective that RPG games give players a sense of reality, the characterization of game characters can be said to be at the heart of design behavior. The personality of a unique character enhances the player's concern and commitment, allowing players to experience a variety of experiences. Through theoretical research and case analysis, this paper analyzes the expression of individuality in RPG game character design. In the RPG game, the way to express the character's individuality is first based on the game's time-space background, plot, task, etc. to inform the character's general gender, race, occupation, and skills. In line with the application and use of the characters, the roles will be developed in a concrete and rich way, and the shapes, movements, colors, costumes and weapons will be more refined. The purpose of this study is to obtain the main factors that influence RPG character's personality design from the viewpoint of perceptual design theory. In addition, it is proposed that the RPG game character personality design method should be adopted.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the patterns of deviation in urban music festival through the theories and a case study. A deviation help contemporary people in the routine of daily life to give a lot of energy. Such a deviation is strongly experienced from the festival. So it is important to study the patterns of deviation in urban festival. For this purpose, the relation between deviation and festival is examined first. And then the patterns of deviation in festival are drawn from the preceding research and case studies. The patterns of deviation in festival are identified as spatio-temporal deviation, active deviation, and situational deviation. Spatio-temporal deviation is divided into non-dailiness, space separation, and space appropriation. Active deviation is divided into make-over and expression. Situational deviation is divided into overturning and new meeting. This patterns of deviation applies to case study of ACC world music festival held in Gwangju metropolitan city with a content analysis methodology. The research finding is that Spatio-temporal deviation is most evident in ACC world music festival, on the other hand active deviation and situational deviation are weak or no evident. It is expected that various deviant elements presented in this study will be used strategically in festival planning to help strengthen the festivity of modern urban festivals.

A Study on the Typical Characteristics and Conservation Plan of Roadscape as a Modern Asset - Case Study of Yeongdo-gu, Busan - (근대 자산으로서 길에서 보는 경관의 유형적 특성과 경관 보전 방안에 관한 연구 - 영도구를 사례로 -)

  • This study examined the value of the old roads and roadscapes as modern assets. Topographic maps of the two years (1916 and 1919, which were produced by the Japanese Government-General of Korea) and the digital topographic map produced in 2017, were analyzed. The total amount of roads that have survived for the past 100 years are located in 108 places and total 26.32km. After examining the remnants of the roads in YeongDo, the type of scenery experienced along the roads were classified into nine kinds. The place where a sequential scenery experience takes place due to the survival of the past, the experience is based on the transition of historical scenery, not the scenery of the present time. A new model that can preserve, manage and plan this scenery is required. Therefore, we propose a new landscape model that elevates the concept of gaze from a spatial concept to a spatiotemporal concept. Based on this model, we propose a conservation criterion of the landscape viewed on the road as a viewpoint. As a modern asset for the next 100 years of YeongDo, it is necessary to understand and preserve the meaning of the landscape and roadside scenery as a transit landscape network. The remnant of roads from 100 years ago suggests that the scenery on the road was has been maintained, and it is the historical landscape of the YeongDo area. Through the landscape conservation plan proposed in this study, it is expected that the historical roads and their landscape will be positioned as a modern asset and an aspect of local heritage, and the future conservation and management of the roads and roadscapes will continue.

Augmented Reality Framework for Archeological Site Tours (유적지 투어 지원을 위한 증강 현실기반 프레임워크)

  • As augmented reality (AR) technology has been utilized to enhance the user experience, several AR applications have been developed in the cultural heritage domain. Although there has been significant progress in this area, naive augmentation representation becomes an obstacle to provide an enhanced user experience and there has been little research on an effective AR experience methodology that reflects the characteristics of AR technology. Furthermore, the development of temporary content that comes from the absence of the authoring framework restrains the content ecosystem, which is an essential requisite for sustainable service. To resolve these issues, we propose a space-driven AR experience methodology, Spacetelling, to extend established object-oriented augmentation trends and Storyscape that generates spatio-temporal related contents for the spacetelling and supports sustainable service. Moreover, we present the wrap-up system framework covering both features mentioned above for the archeological site tour. Finally, we present our work-in-progress project, K-Culture Time Machine Project, to investigate the practical feasibility of our proposals. Through these proposals, we expect that sustainable AR applications with improved user experience will be possible in the cultural heritage domain.
