  • To apply the research results to the design and the construction of the high rise buildings, long-term behavior of reinforced concrete structure have been widely studied. However, shoring and reshoring at early ages have not been considered in the most of studies. The removal of forms and shores has been dealt with one construction sequence. i.e. the deformation occurred at the early age before the removal of shore has been neglected. In this paper, two-dimensional frame analysis program for long-term behavior of reinforced concrete was developed. In the developed program, construction sequence including the settlement and the removal of shores is considered to predict axial force variation due to forms ,shores, and time-dependent concrete stiffness. Analysis results show that the time-dependent axial force of shores is reduced, and the redistributed axial force of the interior column is greater than the value by elastic analysis and that of the exterior column is smaller. In order to demonstrate the validity of this program, the test frame was constructed in sequence of the placement of concrete, form removal, reshoring, shore removal, and the application of additional load. The proposed program predicts experimental results well.

  • 대형 구조물의 기초 시공 시 구조물의 하부지반이 불균질하거나 경사진 지반 또는 일반토사와 암반이 혼재된 지지력이 급격히 변화하는 구간에서 시공되는 경우가 많으며 이와 같은 경우에는 경제적인 최적의 방안으로 직접기초와 말뚝기초를 혼용하여 사용하는 방안이 필요하다. 그러나 일반적으로 기초의 안정성 확보를 위해 보수적으로 말뚝기초를 적용하는 경우가 대부분이며 소규모의 아파트 기초현장에서는 부분적으로 이질기초가 적용되나 이에 대한 보강이나 안정성 검토는 형식적으로 이루어지는 경우가 대부분이다. 본 연구에서는 직접기초와 파일기초가 적용되는 이질기초에 대한 수치해석을 통하여 이질기초 적용 시 기초 및 하부지반에 대한 거동을 평가하여, 이질기초에 대한 적용가능성 여부 및 기초하부에서의 개략적인 거동에 대하여 고찰하고자 한다.

Static Analysis of Actual Bridges for Application of Thin Polymer Concrete Deck Pavements (폴리머 콘크리트 박막 교면포장 적용을 위한 실제 교량 정적 해석)

  • In this paper, actual bridges constructed with SMA (Stone Mastic Asphalt) deck pavement and virtual bridges substituted the deck pavement with polymer concrete under the same conditions were statically analyzed to investigate applicability of the thin polymer concrete bridge deck pavements. PSC (prestressed Concrete) girder bridge, steel box girder bridge, PSC box girder bridge, and RC (Reinforced Concrete) rahmen bridge constructed with the SMA deck pavement were analyzed and compared to evaluate various types of the bridge. The bridge deck and pavement were assumed to be fully bonded and the stress and deformation during the construction were ignored while those due to pavement weight and vehicle loading were analyzed. According to the analysis results, the stress and deformation of the bridges using the polymer concrete due to the pavement weight were smaller than those using the SMA because of smaller self weight due to lighter unit weight and thinner thickness of the pavement. The stress and deformation of the bridges using the polymer concrete due to the vehicle loading were larger than those using the SMA because of the smaller area moment of inertia due to the thinner pavement thickness. In case that the pavement weight and vehicle loading applied simultaneously, the stress and deformation of the bridges using the polymer concrete were smaller because effect of self weight reduction was more dominant. Investigation of performance of the bridge deck pavement and analysis of economical efficiency are warranted.

Development of numerical model for estimating thermal environment of underground power conduit considering characteristics of backfill materials (되메움재 특성을 고려한 전력구 열환경 변화 예측 수치해석모델 개발)

  • The thermal analysis of an underground power conduit for electrical cables is essential to determine their current capacity with an increasing number of demands for high-voltage underground cables. The temperature rises around a buried cable, caused by excessive heat dissipation, may increase considerably the thermal resistance of the cables, leading to the danger of "thermal runaway" or damaging to insulators. It is a key design factor to develop the mechanism on thermal behavior of backfilling materials for underground power conduits. With a full-scale field test, a numerical model was developed to estimate the temperature change as well as the thermal resistance existing between an underground power conduit and backfill materials. In comparison with the field test, the numerical model for analyzing thermal behavior depending on density, moisture content and soil constituents is verified by the one-year-long field measurement.

  • In urban areas, it is very often to excavate ground adjacent to existing structures for the construction of new buildings. Deformation and vibration induced by such construction activities may cause damages to the existing structures and petitions from citizens. To secure safety of the existing structures, particularly of tunnels, establishment of general guidelines on vibration have been crucial concerns, although some institutions have their own guidelines which are not generally accepted. This study aims establishing guidelines for tunnel safety due to blast-induced vibration. Numerical methods are adopted for this study. Blast load equation proposed by International Society of Explosive Engineers (2000) is used to decide detonation pressure. Analysis models were obtained from the construction cases of Seoul Metros. By performing dynamic numerical analysis, vibration velocity of an existing tunnel is evaluated. The numerical results are verified by comparing with the field measurement data obtained in excavation sites adjacent to an existing tunnel. Based on the results vibration safety zone is proposed. Influence circle for vibration velocity is drawn and the area not exceeding the allowable vibration velocity is established.

  • Recently, as a means of resolving the issue of legal liability in the event of an accident or a disaster, a wide variety of simulation techniques, such as structural and structure-fluid interaction analysis, have been used in the field of forensic engineering. The plate girder bridge discussed in this paper was being constructed between a pier and an abutment to expand an existing bridge, but an accident whereby the bridge overturned occurred at the end of the concrete laying process for a protective wall. This accident was caused by additional loads not being considered at the time of the design as well as the actual construction being different from the design. The additional loads ultimately generated a negative support force. In this study, we determined the cause of the accident by comparing the structural stability of the original design with that of the additional, non-conforming construction using MIDAS structural analysis.

  • Convergence Confinement Method (CCM) makes a more simple judgement in a ground-support reaction than numerical method. Also this method is good for the applicability of construction feedback and the analysis of field measurement. However, there has been little research with respect to the application of CCM in tunnel construction. One of the problems in CCM is a decision of the time to support installation. To decide a reasonable supporting installation time, support characteristic curve and displacement characteristic curve considering construction stage are proposed. In addition, to predict displacement distribution ratio and load distribution ratio, the time dependent support reaction curve is used. Finally, through a comparison of the result between CCM and numerical analysis, the trust of this study is proved and the practical application is proposed to control resonable tunnel construction management.

  • 본 논문은 사하중 절감이 중요한 장지간 교량에 있어서 유리한 구조를 가지는 강바닥판의 성능 강화를 위한 수치해석 연구를 실시하였다. 이미 국내외에서는 다수의 강바닥판을 이용한 교량의 시공 사례가 많으며, 앞으로도 시공 또는 계획될 해상 장지간 교량에서도 강바닥판 교량의 사례가 많을 것으로 판단된다. 강바닥판 교량은 공기를 단축할 수 있으며, 들보의 높이가 작아서 날씬한 형상으로 할 수 있기 때문에 미관을 향상 시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 가설 공사비를 절감시킬 수 있는 등 많은 장점을 갖고 있다. 하지만 강바닥판은 이상과 같이 장점을 갖는 구조이지만 비교적 얇은 강판을 복잡한 형상으로 용접하여 조립함에 용접 결함, 잔류응력, 면내 및 면외 변형의 발생 등의 문제점이 지적되고 있다. 따라서 외국에서는 강바닥판의 피로 손상에 대한 실험 및 연구로 많은 자료를 확보하고 있으며, 국내에서도 국내 현실에 맞는 강바닥판의 피로거동 및 피로강도 향상방안에 관한 연구가 더욱더 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 국내교량에 적용되고 있는 구조상세 및 구조해석을 실시하여 강바닥판의 피로거동과 응력 특성을 파악하고, 피로강도를 향상하는 방법으로 Bulkhead Plate와 수직리브 형상 및 부착에 따른 거동을 분석하고, 최적상세를 도출하여 강바닥판의 적극적인 활용화에 그 목적이 있다.

Numerical Investigation on Load Supporting Mechanism of a Pile Constructed above Underground Cavity (공동이 존재하는 암반에 시공된 말뚝기초의 하중지지 메카니즘에 관한 수치해석 연구)

  • This paper presents the results of a three-dimensional finite element analysis on load supporting mechanism of pile constructed above underground cavity in limestone rock formation. Considering a wide range of cavity conditions, the behavior of pile was studied using the bearing capacity, rock yielding pattern, stress distribution and deformation of pile head and the cavity. The results indicate that the load transfer mechanism of pile, rock yielding pattern and the reduction of bearing capacity of pile significantly vary with the location, size and length of cavity. Based on the results, graphical solutions defining the reduction of the bearing capacity with specific cavity conditions were suggested.
