Modeling Residual Water in the Gas Diffusion Layer of a Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell and Analyzing Performance Changes (고분자 전해질막 연료전지의 기체확산층 내부 잔류수 모델링 및 성능변화해석)

  • Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells have the advantage of low operating temperatures and fast startup and response characteristics compared to others. Simulation studies are actively researched because their cost and time benefits. In this study, the resistance of water residual in the gas diffusion layer (GDL) of the unit cell was added to the existing equation to compare the actual data with the model data. The experiments were conducted with a 25 cm2 unit cell, and the samples were separated into stopping times of 0, 10, and 60 minutes following primary impedance measurement, activation, and polarization curve data acquisition. This gives 0, 10, and 60 minutes for the residual water in the GDL to evaporate. Without the rest period, the magnitude of the performance improvement was not significantly different at the same potential and flow rate, but the rest period did improve the performance of the membrane electrode assembly when measuring impedance. By changing the magnitude of the resistance reduction to an overvoltage, the voltage difference between the fuel cell model with and without residual water was compared, and the error rate in the high current density region, which is dominated by concentration losses, was reduced.

Optimizing Maillard Reaction for Development of Natural Seasoning Source Using Oyster Hydrolysate (굴 가수분해물을 이용한 천연조미소스 개발을 위한 마이얄 반응의 최적화)

  • The oyster is called "milk of sea" which is abundant in taurine, glycogen, cellenium. It could be used in making natural source. Recently, consumers have more interest in natural source because of their diverse preference and its special taste. The goal of this study is to optimize maillard reaction condition for manufacturing natural seasoning using oyster and oyster cooking drip hydrolysate. The result was judged by browning degree and pyrazine, which is flavor components when food heating. Hydrolysate and sugar react according primarily to type of sugar - glucose, xylose and fructose. Xylose was selected as best sugar of browning degree. In the case of sugar contents, all conditions over 1% of sugar contents are almost same. Therefore, the lowest 1% of sugar was selected as appropriate condition. According to the reaction with different temperature, browning degree and pyrazine contents had been increased over $60^{\circ}C$, but the product at $120^{\circ}C$had off-flavored. So, $100^{\circ}C$ is the best condition for the browning reaction. And in accordance with different reaction time, after 6 hours, there was no change in pyrazine and browning reaction. Therefore, to manufacture natural seasoning source, it is optimal to react xylose for maillard reaction at $100^{\circ}C$ for 6 hr with hydrolysate of oyster and oyster cooking drip.

Uptake and Degradadon of cAMP by Frog Follides in vitro (배양중인 개구리 여포의 cAMP 흡수와 분해)

  • We previously showed that transient exposure of Rana dybowskii follicles to exogenous cAMP in vitro could induce meiotic maturation. The present experiments were carried out to acertain whether the exogenous cAMP penetrate into the follicles. Isolated follicles were precultured in the medium containing cAMP (2.5 mM) for 6 hours and then cultured further in plain medium for 18 hours. The change of intrafollicular cAMP levels during the culture period were examined by utilizing cAMP radioimmunoassay (RIA). The intrafollicular levels of cAMP increased about thirty times of the basal level (about 3 p mole/follicle) in two hours and reached a peak in six hours (170 p mole/follicle) during the preculture period. However, when the follicles were transferred to plain medium, the levels decreased markedly in six hours to very low levels (about 10 p mole/ follicle), and kept the same levels thereafter. But the levels did not decrease to the basal levels. The increase and decrease of the intrafollicular cAMP was not affected by the presence of isobutyl methylxanthine (IBMX) or progesterone. The data suggest that exogenous cAMP pene-trate into the follicles and the cAMP accumulated by the follicles are degraded very rapidly.

  • Barbaloin in the Aloe vera depending on the various extracting conditions was analyzed by HPLC. The contents of the barbaloin extracted by the solvents increased in the order of methanol>ethanol>water extraction. In setting extraction, the contents of barbaloin extracted with methanol and ethanol were increased from four hours at $60^{\circ}C$ and then decreased. The contents of barbaloin extracted with water were different depending on the temperature and time. Increasing the extracting time and temperature, the contents of barbaloin were decreased in water extract. It was estimated that the barbaloin might be stable in organic solvent, but decomposed with hydrolysis in water.

  • 최근 유량 측정을 위해 사용되는 ADCP를 통해 부가적으로 측정되는 초음파산란도 자료를 활용하여 부유사농도를 측정하는 연구가 수행되고 있다. 이에 국내에서는 국가하천에 설치되어 있는 자동유량관측소의 초음파산란도를 활용하여 연속적인 부유사농도를 측정하는 연구가 수행되고 있다. 이를 통해 10분 단위로 연속적인 유사량 자료를 생산할 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 현재 유사량 측정결과의 제공을 위해 사용되는 유량-유사량 관계곡선의 산포로 인한 신뢰도 문제를 개선할 수 있을 것으로 기대되고 있다. 그러나, 이미 설치된 자동유량관측소의 H-ADCP 원시데이터를 활용하여 다지점에서 부유사농도를 측정에 대한 분석을 수행하기 위해서는 초음파산란도의 보정, 관계식 개발, 관계식 적용을 통한 유사량 측정 결과의 분석을 위한 소프트웨어 개발이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초음파산란도 자료를 이용하여 부유사농도를 분석할 수 있는 소프트웨어 개발하고자 하였다. 개발된 소프트웨어는 Microsoft Visual Studio를 이용하여 C# 언어를 사용하여 개발하였으며, ComponentOne 라이브러리를 활용하여 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스(GUI)를 구현하였다. 소프트웨어의 구성은 H-ADCP 원시자료와 실측 부유사농도 자료와의 시간동기화를 통해 동일시간에서 측정된 자료를 획득, 초음파산란도의 보정과 지표로 활용할 초음파산란도의 측정영역 분석, 초음파산란도-부유사농도와의 다중 회귀를 통한 관계식 개발 및 통계 분석결과 도출, 관계식을 활용한 부유사농도 계산을 수행할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 소프트웨어를 통해 추후에 시범적용 예정인 자동유량관측소의 초음파산란도를 활용 부유사농도 측정 방법에 대한 분석 효율성을 향상시키고, 지속적인 개선을 통해서 실제 실무에서 활용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

Evaluation of Thermal Catalytic Decomposition of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons and Catalyst-Poison Effect by Sulfur Compound (염소계 탄화수소의 열촉매 분해와 황화합물에 의한 촉매독 영향 평가)

  • To overcome certain disadvantages of past typical control techniques for toxic contaminants emitted from various industrial processes, the current study was conducted to establish a thermal catalytic system using mesh-type transition-metal platinum(Pt)/stainless steel(SS) catalyst and to evaluate catalytic thermal destruction of five chlorinated hydrocarbons[chlorobenzene(CHB), chloroform(CHF), perchloroethylene (PCE), 1,1,1-trichloroethane(TCEthane), trichloroethylene(TCE)]. In addition, this study evaluated the catalyst poison effect on the catalytic thermal destruction. Three operating parameters tested for the thermal catalyst system included the inlet concentrations, the incineration temperature, and the residence time in the catalyst system. The thermal decomposition efficiency decreased from the highest value of 100% to the lowest value of almost 0%(CHB) as the input concentration increased, depending upon the type of chlorinated compounds. The destruction efficiencies of the four target compounds, except for TCEthane, increased upto almost 100% as the reaction temperature increased, whereas the destruction efficiency for TCEthane did not significantly vary. For the target compounds except for TCEthane, the catalytic destruction efficiencies increased up to 30% to 97% as the residence time increased from 10 sec to 60 sec, but the increase of destruction efficiency for TCEthane stopped at the residence time of 30 sec, suggesting that long residence times are not always proper for thermal destruction of VOCs, when considering the destruction efficiency and operation costs of thermal catalytic system together. Conclusively, the current findings suggest that when applying the transition-metal catalyst for the better destruction of chlorinated hydrocarbons, VOC type should be considered, along with their inlet concentrations, and reaction temperature and residence time in catalytic system. Meanwhile, the addition of high methyl sulfide(1.8 ppm) caused a drop of 0 to 50% in the removal efficiencies of the target compounds, whereas the addition of low methyl sulfide (0.1 ppm), which is lower than the concentrations of sulfur compounds measured in typical industrial emissions, did not cause.

Effects of Vacuum Paokaging on Lipid Oxidation and Meat Color of Chilled Pork (진공포장이 냉장돈육의 지질산화 및 육색에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of vacuum packaging on lipid oxidation and meat color of chilled pork. During storage meats wert evaluated for TBA values, pH, blooming time and CIE L$\^$*/a$\^$*/b$\^$*/ values. The TBA values of wrapped meats increased rapidly after 7days and Those of vacuum packaged meats maintained at low level up to 30 days of storage. The pH of wrapped meats increased rapidly after 7days, while those of vacuum packaged meats increased slowly up to 30 days of storage. The bloom time of vacuum packaged meals was 30 min after opening. The CIF L$\^$*/ values of wrapped meats decreased rapidly on the 7th day, while those of vacuum packaged meats directly after opening decreased slightly up to 7days of storage and thereafter increased gradually. The CIE a$\^$*/ values of wrapped meats increased gradually up to 7days and thereafter decreased rapidly, while those of vacuum packaged meats directly after opening were lower than those of wrapped meats. The CIE a$\^$*/ values of vacuum packaged meats after 30 min in the air were higher than those of vacuum packaged meals directly after opening. The CIE b$\^$*/ values of wrapped meats increased rapidly on 4th day and thereafter decreased rapidly, while those of vacuum packaged meats directly after opening were lower than those of wrapped meats. The CIE b$\^$*/ values of vacuum packaged meats after 30 min in the air were higher than those of vacuum packaged meats directly after opening.

Molecular Weight Distribution Inside and Outside Capsules Using Coencapsulating Technology (공동캡슐화를 이용한 Capsule 내외부의 분자량 분포)

  • The change of molecular weight inside and outside a capsule produced using coencapsulating technology was investigated. Chitosan and chitosanase were enveloped in this membrane and product released was a loaded the medium by the principle of size exclusion. The leakage of substrate corresponding to the agitation speed was controlled by adjusting the alginate and CaCO$_3$ concentrations. The optimal condition of alginate concentration and agitation speed were 0.5% and 40rpm, respectively. Membrane thickness and capsules diameter were 10 $\mu$m and approx. 3.0 - 1.5 mm, respectively. Molecular weight difference by concentration and alginate viscosity were of little significance. In accordance with the molecular weight distribution versus enzyme concentration relationship, low concentration of enzyme produced high molecular weight oligosaccharides. At a 1.5 mm capsule size the product diffusion rate to outer surface highest. The molecular weight distribution of the released oligosaccharides was ranged from 1000 to 6000 Da. More than 80% of the initial activity of encapsulated enzyme retained after 8hrs of reaction.

Classification of behavior at the signs of parturition of sows by image information analysis (영상정보에 의한 모돈의 분만징후 행동특성 분류)

  • The aim of this study is to predict the exact time of parturition from analysis and classification of preliminary behavior based on parturition signals in sows. This study was conducted with 12 crossbred sows (with an average of 3.5 parities). Behavioral characteristics were analyzed for duration and the frequency of different behaviors on a checklist, which includes the duration of the basic behaviors (feeding, standing, lying down, and sitting). The frequency of specific behaviors (investigatory behavior, shame-chewing, scratching, and bar-biting) was also recorded. Image information was collected every two minutes for 24 hours before the first piglets were born. As a result, the basic behavior of a sows' standing time (22.6% of the time after 24 h, 24.9% after 12 h) and time lying down (55.9% after 24 h, 66.3% after 12 h) increased over the 12 h period before parturition, compared with the 24 h period before parturition (p<0.01). Feeding (13.42% after 24 h, 4.38% after 12 h) and sitting (8.2% after 24 h, 4.5% after 12 h) tended to decrease during the 12 h before parturition (p>0.05). The sows' investigatory behavior ($11.44{\pm}1.80$ after 24 h, $55.97{\pm}6.13$ after 12 h), scratching ($3.75{\pm}1.92$ after 24 h, $20.99{\pm}5.81$ after 12 h), and bar-biting ($0.69{\pm}0.15$ after 24 h, $3.71{\pm}1.53$ after 12 h) increased in the 12-hour period before parturition, compared with the 24-hour period before parturition (p<0.01). On the other hand, shame-chewing ($2.20{\pm}1.67$ after 24 h, $0.07{\pm}0.01$ after 12 h) decreased compared to the 12-hour period before parturition (p>0.05). Thus, standing, investigatory behavior, scratching, and bar-biting could be used as behaviors indicative of parturition in sows.

노출평가를 위한 TLV 근거 - 2-BUTOXYETHANOL(8)

  • 2-부톡시에탄올(2-butoxyethanol)에 대한 생물학적 노출지수 설정에 필요한 자료는 상당수 존재한다. 다양한 실험실 및 직업적 현장연구는 2-butoxyethanol에 노출된 후 소변에서 butoxyacetic acid의 배설을 조사하여 생물학적 노출지수를 구축할 데이터베이스를 제공하였다. 실험실 연구는 작업시간 동안보다는 짧은 시간을 노출시킨다. 휴식 중에 실시한 실험 자료들을 20ppm에 8시간 노출로 외삽하면 작업시작 종료 시점의 소변 중 butoxyacetic acid의 농도가 각각 192, 272, 190 mg/g creatinine이었다. 작업부하 30 watts와 50 watts의 연구 결과를 외삽하면 각각 304 butoxyacetic acid/g creatinine과 313 butoxyacetic acid/g creatinine이었다. 작업현장 연구는 소변을 가수분해시킨 후 총 butoxyacetic acid의 검출 범위가 광범위할 것으로 예상된다. 이러한 외삽의 결과는 일반적으로 1ppm 미만의 노출에서 나온 것이라는 점에 유의해야 한다. 피부 흡수의 가능성과 2-butoxyethanol의 상대적으로 낮은 휘발성을 감안할 때 현장 연구에서는 피부 경로가 흡입 연구보다 더 중요할 수 있다. 따라서 현장 조사는 휴식을 취한 자원봉사자를 대상으로 실시한 흡입 연구와 비교하면 소변 중 butoxyacetic acid 농도를 과대평가하는 경향이 있다. 활용 가능한 시뮬레이션 연구에서 휴식 시 2-butoxyethanol의 TLV-TWA 20ppm에 8시간 전신(흡입과 피부) 노출되는 경우 가수분해된 총 butoxyacetic acid가 210 mg/g creatinine이 예상되고 작업부하 50 watts에서는 373 mg/g creatinine이 예측된다. 50 watts의 작업량으로 20ppm에서 8시간 노출되는 경우 생물학적 노출지수(BEI)는 약 400 mg/g creatinine일 것이다. 그러나 생물학적 노출지수는 외삽에 대한 불확실성, 심각한 피부 노출 및 작업장 노출평가 자료의 부족을 반영하여 200 mg butoxyacetic acid/g creatinine으로 설정하였다. 인용한 자료들의 한계에도 불구하고 자원 봉사자 연구와 시뮬레이션 연구의 자료들이 일치성이 있었다. 연구에 따르면 butoxyacetic acid는 측정 가능한 양으로 존재하며 작업 교대 중에 검출될 수 있는 충분한 시간의 반감기를 가지고 있다. Sakai 등의 연구 자료와 일부 모델링 자료에서 노출농도가 높은 경우 주중에 약간의 축적 가능성을 보고하였지만 작업장에서 일반적으로 노출되는 농도 범위에서는 누적이 예상되지 않으며 작업 종료 후에 소변시료를 채취하는 것이 바람직하다. 대다수의 연구에서 소변 중 butoxyacetic acid 농도 수준의 개인 간 다양성을 보고하였다. 또한 대부분의 작업현장 연구에서는 2-butoxyethanol의 주변 환경 농도수준과 소변 중 butoxyacetic acid 수준에 유의한 상관관계를 발견하지 못하였다. 상호 연관성이 결여된 원인은 대부분 피부 노출의 영향으로 추정하였다. 개인 보호 장갑을 착용한 근로자들에게서는 유의한 상관관계가 발견되었다.
