Efficient Spatial Query Processing in Client/Server Environments (클라이언트/서버 환경에서 효율적인 공간 질의 처리)

  • 클라이언트/서버 환경에서 뷰 실체화 기법을 이용한 공간 질의 처리 방법은 동일한 질의에 대하여 실체화된 뷰를 이용하므로 처리 비용과 시간을 감소시킬 수 있다. 그러나 뷰 실체화는 서버 데이터 베이스의 변경에 따른 뷰 일관성 유지 비용이 추가로 발생하므로, 공간 데이터베이스 변경 등 경우에 따라서는 뷰 실체화를 이용한 공간 질의 처리 방법이 기존 방법에 비하여 더 많은 비용과 시간이 발생할 수도 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 고려하여 클라이언트/서버 환경에서 효율적인 공간 질의 처리를 위하여 기존의 질의 처리 방법과 실체화된 뷰를 이용한 질의 처리 방법을 혼용한 방법(hybrid approach)을 제시한다. 이 방법에서는 클라이언트에서 공간 질의 처리를 요청한 경우에 서버에서 공간 질의 재수행 비용과 실체화된 뷰의 일관성 유지 비용을 비교 평가하여 질의 처리 결과를 실체화된 뷰로 유지 여부를 결정한다.

An Efficient z-Buffer Algorithm using Temporal Coherence (시간 일관성을 이용한 효율적인 z-버퍼 알고리즘)

  • We present a method that enhances the rendering speed of z-buffer algorithm using temporal coherence between two contiguous frames on fixed viewing conditions. Conventional z-buffer algorithm stores depth value for each pixel on a view plane while rendering some polygons, then it determines the visibility of the remaining polygons based on the stored depth values. If we can get color and depth information for some polygons without rendering, it is possible to generate an image by rendering only the remaining ones. In case of high frame rate, we can find the fact that sets of static polygons of the two contiguous frames are almost the same. This temporal coherence enables us to get the color and depth information of static polygons efficiently. Our algorithm stores color and depth information of static polygons and reuses it for generating the next frame. This method can be easily implemented since it does not require complex data structure and modification for conventional z-buffer algorithm. Also it is adequate for hardware implementation.

  • RAID 시스템에서 비 휘발성 쓰기 캐시를 이용한 디스크 제어기는 시스템 성능 향상의 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 2 단계 캐시는 l 단계 캐시에 비해 우수한 성능을 보이고 시간적, 공간적 지역성에도 효율적이며 호스트 측에 비 휘발성 기억소자로 구성된 L1 캐시를 두어 디스크 캐시의 신뢰도를 높일 수 있다. 호스트에서 읽기/쓰기 적중된 데이터가 LI 캐시에서 수행되는 동안 12캐시에서는 디스크로 destage하는 동작을 비동기적으로 병렬 처리하고 데이터와 패리티를 함께 캐시에 적재하여 RAID 5 의 "소규모 쓰기 문제"를 완화시키고자 한다. 제안된 캐시 시스템은 2 단계로 구성되어 대용량 디스크 캐시에서 디스크 입출력 시간을 향상시키고 효율적으로 일관성을 유지할 수 있는 디스크 제어기 상에 위치하는 RAID 5 디스크 캐시 모델을 제시하여 수행속도를 개선시키고자 한다.

An Efficient Mobile Transaction Processing Scheme over Multiple Wireless Broadcast Channels (다중 무선 방송채널에서의 효과적인 모바일 트랜잭션 처리 기법)

  • Wireless broadcast environments has character that a number of mobile client can receive data streaming from central server no matter how they are so many. Because it is asymmetric bandwidth in that uplink and downlink bandwidth are different. This advantage helps wireless broadcast environments is used in many applications. These applications work almost read operation and need control concurrency using transaction unit. Previous concurrency control scheme in single channel is not adapted in multi channel environments because consistency of data are broken when a mobile client tunes in a broadcast cycle in a channel and then move into another channel and listen to different broadcast cycle with already accessed broadcast cycle. In this paper, we propose concurrency control for read-only mobile transactions in multiple wireless broadcast channel. First of all, we adapt index and data dedicated channel and propose LBCPC(Longest Broadcast Cycle Per Channel) as new unit of consistency. In index dedicated channel, it is repeatedly broadcasted data in same BCPC(Broadcast Cycle Per Channel) until LBCPC. And mobile transaction executes validation using control information every LBCPC. As a result, consistency of data is kept and average response time is shorter than one in single channel because waiting time for restart reduces. And as control information is broadcasted more frequently than in single channel, it is guaranteed currency about data accessed by transaction. Finally, according to the simulation result, we verify performance of our scheme in multi channel as comparing average response time with single channel.

  • 본 논문에서는 실시간 처리 디스크 스케쥴링 알고리즘에 대하여 살펴보았다. 이러한 실시간 처리 디스크 스케쥴링 알고리즘은 멀티미디어 서버에서 한정된 자원을 효과적으로 사용하면서 많은 사용자에게 실시간으로 비디오, 오디오 등의 데이터를 제공하기 위해서는 이러한 스케쥴링 기법의 도입이 필수적이며, 그 중 중요한 부분이 바로 직접 비디오, 오디오 등의 데이터를 읽고 쓰는 디스크이다. 요청된 데이터의 탐색 시간을 줄이면서 시간적인 제약조건을 만족시켜 주기 위한 연구가 많이 이루어져 왔다. 그러나 아직까지는 멀티미디어 서버의 성능에 대한 일관성이 없어서 각 스케쥴링 알고리즘들에 대한 가정이 많이 달라서 이들을 객관적으로 비교 평가하기 어려운 상황이며, 이를 위한 연구가 필요한 것으로 평가된다.

Temporally-Consistent High-Resolution Depth Video Generation in Background Region (배경 영역의 시간적 일관성이 향상된 고해상도 깊이 동영상 생성 방법)

  • The quality of depth images is important in the 3D video system to represent complete 3D contents. However, the original depth image from a depth camera has a low resolution and a flickering problem which shows vibrating depth values in terms of temporal meaning. This problem causes an uncomfortable feeling when we look 3D contents. In order to solve a low resolution problem, we employ 3D warping and a depth weighted joint bilateral filter. A temporal mean filter can be applied to solve the flickering problem while we encounter a residual spectrum problem in the depth image. Thus, after classifying foreground andbackground regions, we use an upsampled depth image for a foreground region and temporal mean image for background region.Test results shows that the proposed method generates a time consistent depth video with a high resolution.

  • According as mobile computing environment is generalized by development of wireless networking technology and communication device, mobile host uses local cache for extensibility and early response time. and reduction of limited bandwidth. This time, between mobile host and mobile support station cache need consistency interested person of done data accordingly much techniqueses propose. Existent consistency techniques because detection based techniqueses are used mainly and broadcast periodic invalid message considering frequent disconnection. However, these techniqueses increase abort step through increase or delay of transmission message number by accuracy examination of data. Therefore, because mobile host deletes cached data, and extensity are decreased. Techniques that is proposed in this paper did to perform refering update frequency about object that page request or when complete update operation happens to solve these problem. Therefore, have advantage that response is fast because could run write intention declaration or update by update frequency electively asynchronously when update operation consists and abort step decreases. Also, improved extensity running delete or propagation electively according to update frequency about periodic invalid message gone since disconnection.

  • Over the last decade, interactive devices such as mobile phones have become complicated drastically mainly because of feature creep, the tendency for the number of features in a product to rise with each release of the product. One of the ways to reduce the complexity of a multi-functional device is to design it consistently. Although the definition of consistency is elusive and it is sometimes beneficial to be inconsistent, in general, consistently designed systems are easier to learn, easier to remember, and causing less errors. In practice, however, it is often not easy to design the user interaction or interface of a multi-functional device consistently. Since the interaction design of a multi-functional device should deal with a large number of design variables and relations among them, solving this problem might be very time-consuming and error-prone. Therefore, there is a strong need for a well-developed methodology that supports the complex design process. This study has developed an effective and efficient methodology, called CUID (Consistent Design of User Interaction), which focuses on logical consistency rather than physical or visual consistency. CUID deals with three main problems in interaction design: procedure design for each task, decisions of available operations(or functions) for each system state, and the mapping of available operations(functions) and interface controls. It includes a process for interaction design and a software tool for supporting the process. This paper also demonstrates how CUID supports the consistent design of user interaction by presenting a case study. It shows that the logical inconsistencies of a multi-functional device can be resolved by using the CUID methodology.

  • 모바일 클라이언트(Mobile Client, MC) - 서버 환경에서 캐쉬된 공간 데이타는 용량과 가용성이 크고 긴단절을 가지는 특징이 있다. 이러한 긴 단절을 거친 MC의 일관성 제어시 캐쉬된 데이타 전체가 무효화되어 재전송 하는 것은 비효율적이므로 서버는 변경된 객체 정보를 로그로 기록하여, 캐쉬된 영역에 속하는 최근 변경 정보만을 전송하는 것이 필요하다. 또한 일반적으로 로그의 순차 검색과 불필요한 로그의 누적으로 인해 일관성 제어시 통신 비용이 증가하게 되므로, 서버의 로그 검색 시간과 전송량을 최소화 하기위한 기법이 필요하다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 로그를 이용안 공간 로그 인덱스(Spatial Log Index, SLI) 기법과 공간 로그 관리(Spatial Log Management, SLM) 기법을 제시하고 있다.

A Concurrency Control Method using Data Group Information in Mobile Computing Environments (이동 컴퓨팅 환경에서 데이타 그룰 정보를 이용한 동시성 제어 방법)

  • In mobile computing environments, a mobile host caches the data items to use the bandwidth efficiently and improve the response time of transactions. If the data items cached in mobile host are updated in the server, the server broadcasts an invalidation report for maintaining the cache consistency of mobile hosts. However, this method has a problem that the response time of mobile transactions can be long since their commit decision is delayed until receiving the invalidation report from the server In this paper, we propose the USR-MT method for improving the response time of mobile transactions. As the UGR-MT method can make a commit decision by using the data group information before receiving the invalidation report, the response time of mobile transactions can be improved. Also our method can improve the cache's efficiency since it prevents all the contents of a cache from being invalidated in the case that the disconnection of a mobile host is longer than the broadcast period of invalidation report.
