Study on the Teaching of Proofs based on Byrne's Elements of Euclid (Byrne의 'Euclid 원론'에 기초한 증명 지도에 대한 연구)

  • It may be replacement proofs with understanding and explaining geometrical properties that was a remarkable change in school geometry of 2009 revised national curriculum for mathematics. That comes from the difficulties which students have experienced in learning proofs. This study focuses on one of those difficulties which are caused by the forms of proofs: using letters for designating some sides or angles in writing proofs and understanding some long sentences of proofs. To overcome it, this study aims to investigate the applicability of Byrne's method which uses coloured diagrams instead of letters. For this purpose, the proofs of three geometrical properties were taught to middle school students by Byrne's visual method using the original source, dynamic representations, and the teacher's manual drawing, respectively. Consequently, the applicability of Byrne's method was discussed based on its strengths and its weaknesses by analysing the results of students' worksheets and interviews and their teacher's interview. This analysis shows that Byrne's method may be helpful for students' understanding of given geometrical proofs rather than writing proofs.

  • Printing advertisement is aggregate of commercial information communication text consisted of image sign and language sign. This means that verbal tabor through visual stimulation and character is mixed and passes information through picture. Typography is process that visualize verbal appeal in printing advertisement. Therefore study about typography is very important for a visual expression element in printing advertisement. Typography expression of Korean printing advertisement accomplished fast qualitative growth after 2000 flowing the 1990s. This study makes that typography expression propensity of Korean printing advertisement after 2000 of changed of expression structure, changed of expression rule, changed of expression method etc. Accordingly, extracted each three analysis bases. And this study presented expansive direction of typography expression of printing advertising in case studies.

  • This paper describes the intractive visual programming environment using multi-view which shows the tools of visualization for called and the visualizations for called member-function flow in C++ language. This research defines new visual symbols for class and constructs interactive visual programming environment of various views by using visual symbols. Our proposed interactive multi-view visual programming environment can represent visualization for representation of class and execution relationships between objects in the object-oriented language, which is easy to understand the structure of object-oriented program, therefore our proposed interactive visual programming environment enables easy program development, and can use of education and trainning for beginner in useful.

Peirce and the Problem of Symbols (퍼스와 상징의 문제)

  • The main purpose of this paper is to critically examine the intractable problems of Peirce's notion of 'symbol' as a higher and perfect mode of sign, and present a more appropriate account of the higher status of symbol from an experientialist perspective. Peirce distinguished between icon, index, and symbol, and suggested symbol to be a higher mode of sign, in that it additionally requires "interpretation." Within Peirce's picture, the matter of interpretation is to be explained in terms of "interpretant," while icon or index are not. However, Peirce's conception of "interpretant" itself remains fraught with intractable opacities, thereby leaving the nature of symbol in a misty conundrum. Drawing largely on the experientialist account of the nature and structure of symbolic experience, I try to explicate the complexity of symbol in terms of "the symbolic mapping." According to experientialism, our experience consists of two levels, i.e., physical and symbolic. Physical experience can be extended to symbolic level largely by means of "symbolic mapping," and yet is strongly constrained by physical experience. Symbolic mapping is the way in which we map part of certain physical experience onto some other area, thereby understanding the other area in terms of the mapped part of the physical experience. According to this account, all the signs, icon, index, and symbol a la Peirce, are constructed by way of symbolic mapping. While icon and index are constructed by mapping physical level experience onto some signifier(i.e. Peirce's "representamen"), symbol is constructed by mapping abstract level experience onto some signifier. Considering the experientialist account that abstract level of experience is constructed by way of symbolic mapping of physical level of experience, the symbolic mapping of abstract level of experience onto some other area is a secondary one. Thus, symbol, being constructed by way of secondary or more times mapping, becomes a higher level sign. This analysis is based on the idea that explaining the nature of sign is a matter of explaining that symbolic experience, leaving behind Peirce's realist conception of sign as a matter of an event or state of affairs out there. In conclusion, I suggest that this analysis will open up new possibilities for a more appropriate account of the nature of signs, beyond Peirce's complicated riddles.

A Comparative Analysis of the Calligrams of Apollinaire, Paul Eluard, and Lee Sang (아폴리네르, 폴 엘뤼아르, 이상(LEE Sang) 시의 상형적 시어 비교분석)

  • This study presents a comparative analysis of the calligrammic poetic dictions shown in the poems of the French poets Guillaume Apollinaire and Paul Eluard and in those of the Korean poet Lee Sang. They were adventurers in the avant-garde movement who used experimental techniques that led to futurism, expressionism, cubism, dadaism, and surrealism. They applied a typographic technique that combined pictorial arrangements of fonts, shapes of compositions and between lines, letters of the alphabet, mathematical symbols, and graphical elements, such as circles or lines, to make up a poem that also looked like a painting. Their works, valued as visual lyric poems, break up language and combine anti-poems. They rejected traditional poetic dictions or grammar, but developed a paratactic poem that freely uses letters and symbols. Their calligrammic poetic dictions arouse dynamic images like space extension. Lee Sang's calligrams seem like abstract paintings that apply geometric symbols like those used in technical drawings. As a result, crossing the boundaries between language and pictorial art by using experimental materials and techniques, their poems deconstruct the creative standards of rational and traditional poetic dictions, creating an adventurous, expressive technique. Their calligrammic, avant-garde poems introduced a new spirit of art into both French and Korean modern poetic literature.

Study on Sexuality of Image Signal on TV Commercial (자동차 TV광고에서 나타난 영상기호의 섹슈얼리티 양상 고찰)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차 TV광고에서 나타나는 섹슈얼리티의 의미화를 영상기호학적 시각에서 연구하는데 그 목표가 있다. 이를 위해서 페미니즘적 비평을 소개하고, '아네트 쿤(Annette Kuhn)'이 제시한 섹슈얼리티 표현의 구조를 파악하였다. 연구는 국내 자동차TV광고 자료 188편을 대상으로 하였다. 이 중 아네트 쿤의 섹슈얼리티 구조적 특징을 가지고 있는 45편의 광고를 선정하였고, 분석한 결과는 각 구조별로 체계적으로 제시하였다. TV광고의 섹슈얼리티 영상기호 분석이 갖는 의미는 다음과 같이 정리될 수 있다. 대중의 시선을 확보하기 위해 성적표현의 비중이 점차 높아지고 있는 상황에서 다분히 주관적 일수 있는 섹슈얼리티를 기호학에 근거를 두고 설명한 아네트 쿤의 연구로 구조화하여 분석함으로써 어느 정도 객관적으로 구체화 할 수 있었다. 또한, 섹슈얼리티와 자동차가 갖는 독특한 관계를 이해한다면 자동차디자인의 기획 단계에서 컨셉 설정에 따른 구체적인 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 마지막으로 섹슈얼리티 영상기호의 분석은 TV광고의 제작뿐만 아니라 섹슈얼리티를 표현하고자 하는 다른 여러 영상 제작 과정에 있어서도 실제적인 도움을 줄 수 있겠다.

해동피(海桐皮)와 갈근(葛根)을 이용한 닭고기 개발에 대한 연구

  • 본 연구는 기존의 삼계탕재료에 해동피와 갈근의 축출액을 넣어서 조리를 하여 특성변화와 기호도를 검토하고자 4주령(28일)의 부로일러 종 50수 각 처리구당 해동닭 15수, 삼계탕 15수, 일반닭 15수씩 총 3개 처리구에 배치하여 상품개발을 위한 실험결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 영양분석에서 단백질은 해동닭이 작게는 10.07%~11.08%까지 높게 분석되었고 지방은 해동닭이 삼계탕보다는 0.04% 더 많으며 일반닭보다는 4.65%나 작았다. 특히 적육(Red-meat)에서는 다른 흰살(White-meat) 고기의 닭고기에서는 우리인체에 중요한 작용을 하는 생체의 성장기능, 번식기능과 치료효과의 동맥경화증, 혈전억제 효과가 있다고 하는 불포화지방산(Omega-polyunsaturated fatty acide, 3, 6)( $\omega$-3, 6)을 함유하고 있어 지속적인 식도락가의 사랑을 받을 것으로 예측된다. 회분함량도 상대적으로 많으며 수분도 조리의 특성상 증발하지 못한 관계로 그대로 있어 수분과 조리로 인하여 손실되는 영양상태를 그대로 유지할 수가 있었다. 관능테스트에서는 <그림2-1, 2, 3>과 <표 2-10>에서 분석결과를 보듯이 제일 중요한 점은 고객의 기호도라 볼 수 있겠다. 시각적인 면만 약간 개선된다면 정말로 말할 수 없을 정도로 흡족한 상품이라 할 수 있겠다. 해동닭이 후각 90%, 맛 97%, 조직도 83%, 만족도 97%를 보면 그 누가 훌륭한 상품이라고 하지 않겠는가 하는 아쉬움을 가지며 시각적인 면도 해동피, 갈근, 황기, 인삼, 밤, 마늘, 대추, 은행, 생강, 고추 등 고객의 관심도가 높은 의 한약재료가 들어가는 것을 안다면 그리 문제가 되지 않는다고 보며 단지 문제가 있다면 우리 국민 의식이 가공식품에 대한 인식전환과 시기적인 환경, 국민소득 12,000불대의 시대에 맞는 상품이기를 바란다.

Students' Comprehension and Interpretation Process of InscriptionsRepresenting the Concept of Atom and Molecule (원자 및 분자 개념을 표상한 시각자료에 대한 중학생들의 이해 및 해석 과정)

  • In this study, the 9th grade students were interviewed to explore their comprehension and interpretation processes of inscriptions representing the concept of atom and molecule. We used a semiotic model for the interview and the analysis of result. The research result revealed that the students performed structuring processes of interpreting inscriptions successfully, but they had a difficulty with translating processes for attaining the target concept or for connecting an inscription with another inscription. Translating processes of connecting inscription with text showed a different result according to achievement level of each student. On the other hand, all the interviewees showed similar sequences in the processes of interpreting inscriptions. Educational implications of these findings were discussed.

  • The function of image in visual communication is increasing by development of information. It pursuits not only direct and concrete reappearance of information but also infinite possibility of image expression by image. It is also course of future image communication.
