Realtime Clock Skew Estimator for Time Synchronization in Wireless Sensor Networks of WUSB and WBAN (무선 센서네트워크에서의 시각동기를 위한 실시간 클럭 스큐 추정)

  • Time synchronization is crucial in wireless sensor networks such as Wireless USB and WBAN for diverse purposes from the MAC to the application layer. This paper proposes online clock skew estimators to achieve energy-efficient time synchronization for wireless sensor networks. By using recursive least squares estimators, we not only reduce the amount of data which should be stored locally in a table at each sensor node, but also allow offset and skew compensations to be processed simultaneously. Our skew estimators can be easily integrated with traditional offset compensation schemes. The results of simulation and experiment show that the accuracy of time synchronization can be greatly improved through our skew compensation algorithm.

  • 최근 인간과 유사한 휴머노이드에 대한 연구가 상당히 활발하고 그 영역이 계속해서 확대되고 있는 추세다. 휴머노이드에는 로봇의 몸체 뿐 아니라 머리 부분, 특히 시각 시스템이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 생리학적인 측면에서 인간의 눈과 목의 운동을 관찰하여 휴머노이드에 적용 가능한 능동 시각 시스템의 기구부 설계 방법을 제안하고 제어 방식을 설명한다. 기존의 팬-틸트 방식의 시각 시스템에 없는 인공 안구의 롤 회전 기능을 추가함으로써, 사람의 시각 시스템과 거의 유사한 동작 영역과 동작 속도를 보이게 된다. 소형 비전센서 모듈을 사용함으로써 시스템의 크기가 줄고 경량화 되었다. DC 모터를 엑츄에이터로 사용함으로써, 위치와 속도 제어가 가능하고, 인간 안구의 단속적 운동을 모사 할 수 있다.

  • Since last several decades, iconic memory has been accepted theoretically valid for its role of the first storage mechanism in visual memory process. However, there have been relatively less interests in iconic memory among researchers than their interests in visual short- and long-term memory. Such little interests seem to arise from a lack of detailed understandings of theories and methodologies about iconic memory and visual persistence. This study aimed to achieve the understandings by reviewing theories and empirical studies of iconic memory and visual persistence. The study further discussed future direction of iconic memory research according to the essential aspects of phenomenological and ecological criticisms against the validity of iconic memory.

  • This paper describes a reduction in the peaks of traction energy for metro railways in timetabling. We develope a mixed integer programming (MIP) model, which minimizes the number of trains running simultaneously. We suggest two approaches. In the first approach, we use the commercial MIP solver, CPLEX. In the second approach, we propose a heuristic algorithm. We apply both methods to the current daily timetable of the Korea Metropolitan Subway. We determine an optimal solution, which results in an improvement of approximately 25% over the current timetable.

  • Program source code is a set of complex syntactic information which are expressed in text forms, and contains complex logical structures. Structural and logical complexity inside source code become barriers in applying visualization techniques shown in traditional big-data approaches when the volume of source code become over ten-thousand lines of code. This paper suggests a procedure for making visualization of structural characteristics in source code. For this purpose, this paper defines internal data structures as well as inter-procedural relationships among functions. The paper also suggests a means of outlining the structural characteristics of source code by visualizing the source codes with network forms The result of the research work can be used as a means of controling and understanding the massive volume of source code.

  • Recently, Product and contents using virtual reality technique is spreading quickly. Visualization using virtual reality technique is provide a differentiated experience with existing visualization methodology by giving enhanced immersiveness to users. This paper is make a suggestion to a new methodology of stereo-scope visualization and talk about this utilization possibility. We proposed the design method of stereo-scope realization system that is composed at least two screen. through which users will feel more immersiveness and experience to virtual reality. The suggestion system of this paper will widely used in various industry such as virtual reality exhibitions, shows, games, training programs, etc.

  • Immersive virtual reality has been used in areas of oil and gas exploration for visualization and analysis of various spatial data, such as wireline logs, 3-dimensional seismic data volume, formational boundaries, fault, and some other reservoir characteristics. Although virtual reality is a valuable tool in this area, in most cases, it requires a large budget. This paper describes the construction of a single screen, passive stereo, virtual reality, display system based on commodity, or otherwise, low-cost components. The core elements of the system are a PC with a two-channel 3-D graphics, two projects, and a polarized stereo. There are many options available for the major elements of such a system, and the basic system can be modified or adapted to many different styles of use.

  • In the launch mission, mission control systems and tracking systems need time synchronization for data monitoring and data analysis. There are several standards for time synchronization and an adequate standard is selected according to the requirement of time accuracy and cost among time synchronization standards. Oscillators are used to maintain time accuracy. There are some kinds of oscillators with diverse characteristics and an adequate oscillator can be adopted according to time accuracy. In this paper, we will specify characteristics of several oscillators and standards generally used for time synchronization. And we will also introduce TSDN(time synchronization and display network) for time synchronization in Naro Space Center.

  • In order to extend the activity range of visually impaired persons, we design and implement a navigation system that supports road information services and points of interest. The proposed navigation system consists of route creation modules and storage modules for visually impaired persons. In particular, the main interface of the navigation system are implemented using TTS(Text-to-Speech) program for sound and braille module that outputs braille with sense of touch. We also use google map APIs that can provide latest map information for the navigation system.

  • This study, depending on the diversification of the information environment, was carried out to analyze the role of visual cues and the relationship between visual information structure in the process of user's visual immersion and recognition. Thus, we design evaluation model which used scientific instruments and subjective evaluation taking into account the latest graphical user trends, and analyze the data of immersion and recognition of the user experience that acquired through the process more systematic experimental procedure. Based on this, in the future, this study will be able to contribute implement the latest broadly applicable to the device of graphical information user basic design model and a standard evaluation model.
