A New Method for Extracting Resonance Information in Acoustic Wave Resonance Scattering (음향파 공명 산란의 새로운 해석방법)

  • A new method is proposed for the isolation of resonances from scattered waves for the isolaton of resonances from scattered waves for acoustic wave resonance scattering problems. The resonance scattering function consisting purely of resonance information is defined. Acoustic wave scattering from a variety of submerged bodies is numerically analyzed. The classical resonance scattering theory (RST) and the new method compute identical magnitudes of the resonances from each partial wave, however, the phases are significantly different. The exact $\pi$-radians phase shifts through the resonance and anti-resonance frequencies show that the proposed method properly extracts the vibrational resonance information of the scatterer. Due to the differences in phases of the resonances from each partial wave, the new method and RST generate different total resonance spectra.

  • This thesis aims at the study of the receiving part of wireless modem for Mobitex, which are designed for two way massage services by using the network of wireless packet. This receiving part has the features of GMSK demodulation by using Gaussian filter, which has the co-amplitude in a better condition and narrowness bandwidth and high performance in BER, compared with existing MSK modulation. In case of BT=0.3, we designed this receiving part to reduce RF output power spectrum at received data of symbol demodulation and avoid inter symbol interference(ISI) so that we can apply this part to Mobitex network which are currently in service for wireless modem in domestic.

  • A fault diagnosis system for a variable speed rotating shaft probably demands a huge database, which makes it diffcult to be realized. This stuydy presents an effective method of fault diagnosis for variable speed rotating shafts. The proposed method is based upon a fuzzy reasoning and it includes a stepwize strategy to reduce the size of database in a diagnosis system. A computer program is developed to show the procedure of the diagnosis, and four cases of faults are applied to the program to illustarate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The propsed method is found to be useful in reducing the size of database from observation of the data files of the dianosis system. The case studies show that the proposed method can be useful for the diagnosis of variable speed rotating shafts.

Performance Assessment of Navigation Seakeeping for Coastal Liquified-Natural-Gas Bunkering Ship (연안선박용 LNG 벙커링 전용선박의 내항성능 평가에 대한 연구)

  • Through the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, South Korea is trying to support the "Building Project for Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Bunkering Ship," centered on the Korea Gas Corporation, while the Ministry of Maritime Af airs and Fisheries is pushing to construct an LNG bunkering terminal at Busan New Port. LNG bunkering ships are essential for supplying LNG fuel from the terminal to the ships, resulting in the need for safety operation procedures. Therefore, in this study, the stability of a coastal LNG bunkering ship operating from Busan New Port to the anchorage in Busan Port was assessed to investigate the need for operational procedures for coastal LNG bunkering ships. Seakeeping analysis of the LNG bunkering ship was performed for each significant wave height by combining the response amplitude operator from the ship motion analysis under the potential flow theory with the actual observed sea data for five years and Texel, Marsen, and Arsloe (TMA) spectrum suitable for the Busan coast. The results showed that the roll and horizontal acceleration were the main risks that affected the navigation seakeeping performance above a significance wave height of 2 m. The operational periods of the LNG bunkering ship ranged from 83.3% to 99.9% of the total observation period.

  • In this paper the system performance degradation resulting from nonlinear transmitter power amplifier which is essential to increase the efficiency is analysed in a CDMA system. The power amplifier is modeled by its AM-AM, AM-PM characteristics. The effects of power amplifier's nonlinearity such as intersymbol interference, phase distonion on the RF system performance were visualized by examining the distorted time domain waveforms, signal vector constellation. And through the investigation of the power spectrum density of the transmitted signal, spectral regrowth or sideband regrowth which is result from amplitude distortion can be seen. All these characteristics result in BER performance degradation due to other user interferences and intersymbol interference. The analysis technique described here applies not only to power amplifier but also to any other nonlinear components such as mixers and switches. Also the effects of adjacent channel interference and supurious emission can be analysed between different systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a vocal separation method using weighted ${\beta}$-order minimum mean wquare error estimation (WbE) based on kernel back-fitting algorithm. In spoken speech enhancement, it is well-known that the WbE outperforms the existing Bayesian estimators such as the minimum mean square error (MMSE) of the short-time spectral amplitude (STSA) and the MMSE of the logarithm of the STSA (LSA), in terms of both objective and subjective measures. In the proposed method, WbE is applied to a basic iterative kernel back-fitting algorithm for improving the vocal separation performance from monaural music signal. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves better separation performance than other existing methods.

Effect of Window Function for Measurement of Ultrasonic Nonlinear Parameter Using Fast Fourier Transform of Tone-Burst Signal (톤버스트 신호의 퓨리에 변환을 이용한 초음파 비선형 파라미터 측정에서 창함수가 미치는 영향)

  • In ultrasonic nonlinear parameter measurement using the fast Fourier transform(FFT) of tone-burst signals, the side lobe and leakage on spectrum because of finite time and non-periodicity of signals makes it difficult to measure the harmonic magnitudes accurately. The window function made it possible to resolve this problem. In this study, the effect of the Hanning and Turkey window functions on the experimental measurement of nonlinear parameters was analyzed. In addition, the effect of changes in tone burst signal number with changes in the window function on the experimental measurement was analyzed. The result for both window functions were similar and showed that they enabled reliable nonlinear parameter measurement. However, in order to restore original signal amplitude, the amplitude compensation coefficient should be considered for each window function. On a separate note, the larger number of tone bursts was advantageous for stable nonlinear parameter measurement, but this effect was more advantageous in the case of the Hanning window than the Tukey window.

  • Ultrasonic nonlinearity has been considered as a solution for the detection of microcracks or interfacial delamination in a layered structure. The distinguished phenomenon in nonlinear ultrasonics is the generation of higher-order harmonic waves during the propagation. Therefore, in order to quantify the nonlinearity, the conventional method measures a parameter defined as the amplitude ratio of a second-order harmonic component and a fundamental frequency component included in the propagated ultrasonic wave signal. However, its application In field inspection is not easy at the present stage because no standard methodology has yet been made to accurately estimate this parameter. Thus, the aim of this paper is to propose an advanced signal processing technique for the precise estimation of a nonlinear ultrasonic parameter, which is based on power spectral and bispectral analysis. The method of estimating power spectrum and bispectrum of the pulse-like ultrasonic wave signal used in the commercial SAM (scanning acoustic microscopy) equipment is especially considered in this study The usefulness of the proposed method Is confirmed by experiments for a Newton ring with a continuous air gap between two glasses and a real semiconductor sample with local delaminations. The results show that the nonlinear parameter obtained tv the proposed method had a good correlation with the delamination.

On a Pitch Alteration Method using Scaling the Harmonics Compensated with the Phase for Speech Synthesis (위상 보상된 고조파 스케일링에 의한 음성합성용 피치변경법)

  • In speech processing, the waveform codings are concerned with simply preserving the waveform of signal through a redundancy reduction process. In the case of speech synthesis, the waveform codings with high quality are mainly used to the synthesis by analysis. Because the parameters of this coding are not classified as both excitation and vocal tract, it is difficult to apply the waveform coding to the synthesis by rule. Thus, in order to apply the waveform coding to synthesis by rule, it is necessary to alter the pitches. In this paper, we proposed a new pitch alteration method that can change the pitch period in waveform coding by dividing the speech signals into the vocal tract and excitation parameters. This method is a time-frequency domain method preserving the phase component of the waveform in time domain and the magnitude component in frequency domain. Thus, it is possible that the waveform coding is carried out the synthesis by rule in speech processing. In case of using the algorithm, we can obtain spectrum distortion with $2.94\%$. That is, the spectrum distortion is decreased more $5.06\%$ than that of the pitch alteration method in time domain.

A Study on Hybrid Split-Spectrum Processing Technique for Enhanced Reliability in Ultrasonic Signal Analysis (초음파 신호 해석의 신뢰도 개선을 위한 하이브리드 스플릿-스펙트럼 신호 처리 기술에 관한 연구)

  • Many signal-processing techniques have been found to be useful in ultrasonic and nondestructive evaluation. Among the most popular techniques are signal averaging, spatial compounding, matched filters and homomorphic processing. One of the significant new process is split-spectrum processing(SSP), which can be equally useful in signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) improvement and grain characterization in several specimens. The purpose of this paper is to explore the utility of SSP in ultrasonic NDE. A wide variety of engineering problems are reviewed, and suggestions for implementation of the technique are provided. SSP uses the frequency-dependent response of the interfering coherent noise produced by unresolvable scatters in the resolution range cell of a transducer. It is implemented by splitting the frequency spectrum of the received signal by using gaussian bandpass filter. The theoretical basis for the potential of SSP for grain characterization in SUS 304 material is discussed, and some experimental evidence for the feasibility of the approach is presented. Results of SNR enhancement in signals obtained from real four samples of SUS 304. The influence of various processing parameters on the performance of the processing technique is also discussed. The minimization algorithm, which provides an excellent SNR enhancement when used either in conjunction with other SSP algorithms like polarity-check or by itself, is also presented.
