The stress experienced by employees on international deployment has serious implications for their physical and mental health as well as their work performance. This study aimed to investigate the impact of resource-oriented music listening on work-related stress among employees on international deployment. The study recruited 10 participants of varying ages and occupations who had worked abroad for at least three years and conducted five personalized resource-oriented music listening sessions along with interviews. The Global Assessment of Recent Stress Scale (GARS) and Job Stress Scale (JSS) were used to measure stress levels before and after the intervention. Results showed that participants' work-related stress and perceived stress were significantly reduced following the music therapy intervention. The study also found that "awareness of own's life situation" and "self-acceptance of here and now emotional challenges" were factors that reduced regulatory stress among employees on international deployment. This study highlights the potential of resource-oriented music listening as a useful tool for managing workplace stress and promoting the well-being of expatriate employees.
This study developed a program that integrated MBSR-K and progressive muscular relaxation for the health and well-being of patients with chronic pain, and proved its effectiveness by studying 40 chronic pain patients. This program used nature of mind, body scanning meditation, breath meditation, mindfulness meditation, Hatha yoga and progressive muscular relaxation to ease chronic pain. Whenever negative feelings and emotions such as fear, anxiety, and pain occurred, the program focused on those emotions and observed the outcome. This program, which was based on the results of the preceding studies, was composed of eight courses. Major findings of the study are as follows: First, the meditation group that was composed of patients with chronic pain had significant decrease of physical symptoms compared to the control group. Second, to confirm the outstanding features of the participating patients with chronic pain that brought change in the effect of the program, characteristics of clients were analysed. Third, the program factor that influenced the effectiveness of the treatment process was evident when the training was performed twice a week rather than having once a week of training and second week for homework.

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between depression and communication skills and clinical practice stress among college nursing students. This study targeted 208 nursing college seniors in B city who have experience in clinical practice. Data were collected from September 1-30 2017 and were analyzed using descriptive analyses, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The average score of communication skills was 3.73, the score of depression was 2.36, and the score of clinical practice stress was 2.88. Significant differences were found in clinical practice stress depending on gender (p=0.002), age (p=0.048), grade (p=0.001), satisfaction with college life (p<0.001), satisfaction with major (p=0.002), desired course (p=0.002), and satisfaction with clinical practice (p<0.001). Clinical practice stress was negatively related to communication skills (r=-0.17, p=0.016) and positively related to depression (r=0.37, p<0.001). Depression, satisfaction with clinical practice, grade, sex and religion had a high explanation rate of 26.9%, indicating that they were meaningful variables that influenced clinical practice stress. Overall, to decrease clinical practice stress among nursing students, it is necessary to develop an intervention program that can prevent and mitigate depression and improve communication skills.

This study constructed a prediction model based on covariance structure to identify the causal relationship between job stress, fatigue, burnout, and job satisfaction on turnover intention in nurses working in general hospitals. The study subjects were 648 nurses at a general hospital in D city. Data collection was surveyed by using self-administered questionnaires structured during the period from November 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016. As a result, the level of turnover intention was significantly higher in the group showing higher job stress, fatigue, and burnout and significantly higher in the group showing lower job satisfaction. The turnover intention of subjects showed a significant positive correlation with job stress, fatigue, and burnout but showed a negative correlation with job satisfaction. As a result of covariance structure analysis, job stress had greater influence on turnover intention than fatigue, burnout, and job satisfaction. Higher job stress, fatigue, and burnout and lower job satisfaction were associated with increased turnover intention. The results of this study show that the turnover intention of general hospital nurses is significantly related to job stress, fatigue, burnout, and job satisfaction. In particular, job stress had a greater effect on turnover than fatigue, burnout, and job satisfaction. Therefore, in order to lower the turnover intention of general hospital nurses, it is necessary to seek ways to mitigate job stress.
Stress will induce various changes in human metabolism. The remarkable phenomenon of these changes is increased energy metabolism that can induce many reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. ROS can peroxidize cellular macromolecules including lipid and protein. The object of this study was to investigate that stress may induce cellular damage by producing ROS and that Rooibos tea can protect cells against reactive oxygen species by immobilization stress in SD rat. The stress group significantly increased in 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA), one of the stress hormone. Rooibos tea treatment had no effects on 5-HIAA contents, but body weight of Rooibos tea treated rat more increased than that of only the stress group. It was suggested that Rooibos tea colud not affect stress response itself, but protect against the another mechanism. We thought that the oxidative damage was caused by increased energy metabolism. Protein degradation level and lipid peroxide formation on index of oxidative damage significantly increased in the stress group. But the stress-induced activity change could not be observed in antioxidative enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase. But the catalase activity of the brain significantly was inhibited by the stress. From these results, it was suggested that the immobilization stress induce the brain oxidative damage. However the oxidative damage was inhibited by feeding Rooibos tea containing various antioxidants, such as polyphenol, flavonoid and so on. Therefore, Rooibos tea have the protective effects against the stress caused by the ROS mediated cellular damage.
Purpose: This study was performed to identify the level of stress perceived by nurses who attend dying patients in the cancer care unit; their understanding regarding end-of-life care and related training needs. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 151 nurses stationed at the cancer care units of four general hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province in Korea. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires and the response rate was 96%. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation analysis. SPSS 12.0 was used for data analysis. Results: Nurses experienced a high level of stress in the end-of-life care settings. Their understanding of end-of-life care was above the mid-point of the scale while their training needs for end-of-life care was relatively high. The more experienced the nurses were, the more stressed they were, particularly due to excessive workload. Nurses who served longer in the cancer unit tended to show greater needs for end-of-life care training. Conclusion: This study found nurses perform end-of-life care with a high level of stress but with insufficient understanding, and thus, showed great needs for related training. Such findings can be useful to develop an end-of-life care training program for nurses.

As the level of job-seeking stress increases among college students, increasing attention is being paid to the variables that would decrease its negative effects through brief intervention programs or counseling. As such, in the present study, we examined the effects of job-seeking stress on depression and psychological well-being, and whether resilience (internal variable) and social support (external variable) would moderate such effects. In other words, we tested whether the negative effects of job-seeking stress on depression and psychological well-being would be decreased by resilience and social support. A total of 264 fourth-year college students and unemployed 4-year college graduates, who were looking for jobs in private and public enterprises participated in this study. The results indicated that resilience moderated the relation between job-seeking stress and depression, while social support did not. In contrast, resilience did not moderate the relation between job-seeking stress and psychological well-being, whereas social support did. These results suggest that as resilience increases, the effect of job-seeking stress on depression decreases, whereas as social support increases, the effect of job-seeking stress on psychological well-being decreases.
This study attempted to implement fundamental data to understand the relationship between self esteem and stress-coping strategies of current students in health related colleges for the development of a program related to school life and guidance. This study involved 244 willfully participating college students from six health related colleges in the Honam area. Data from self administered questionnaires regarding self esteem and stress-coping strategies were collected from November 1 to December 21, 2008. The results of the study showed self esteem was high when general characteristics of religion and a very harmonious relationship with classmates were present. Higher usage of active stress-coping strategies occurred as the year in college and mother's education increased. Active implementation of passive stress-coping strategies were used when religion and residing in rural areas were present. Self esteem was higher as active stress coping strategies (i.e. problem focus and social support) improved. As passive stress-coping strategies (i.e. emotional relief and desire management) improved so did self esteem. By and large as stress-coping strategies increased for college students so did self esteem. As a result, as we search for stress-coping strategies pertaining to studies, practices, and future employment of college students, preparation of a regular course of study that includes curriculum, which increases self esteem should be made. Also consideration should be given to programs that promote relations between students and students and their advising professors.
The present study examined the mediating effects of parent-child stress on the relationship between perceived neighborhood disorder and problem behaviors. The research hypotheses were based on Pearlin's(1999) stress process model and findings from previous literature. The data from the $4^{th}$-wave of the Korea Youth Panel Survey (KYPS; a panel survey of $8^{th}$-grade students) were analyzed to identify the relationships between the study variables. The sample included 2,301 adolescents (16 to 18 years old). Findings showed that parent-child stress partially mediated the relationship between perceived neighborhood disorder and problem behaviors in adolescents. As adolescents perceived more neighborhood disorder, they were more likely to experience anxiety/depression and aggression. In addition, greater neighborhood disorder were found to be associated with the higher levels of the parent-child stress. Furthermore, when controlling for perceived neighborhood disorder, the higher levels of the parent-child stress were found to be associated with the higher levels of anxiety/depression and aggression. The Sobel test and bootstrapping results showed that parent-child stress partially mediates the relationship between perceived neighborhood disorder and anxiety/depression, as well as the relationship between perceived neighborhood disorder and aggression. Based on the results, we discussed social welfare implications of the study findings to prevent adolescent problem behavior as well as the limitations of the study.

This study aimed to determine if mindfulness interacted with stress and relieved the negative effect of stress on school life satisfaction among female college students. Research was conducted among 550 female students at four colleges in the capital area and Chungcheong-do and the data were collected in May 2019. ANOVA was carried out for the variation of the dependent variables based on the subjects' general characteristics. The hierarchical regression analysis was performed for the moderating effect of mindfulness. Stress and interpersonal relationship-related stress differed by school year, subjective economic status, and subjective health status. Mindfulness differed by subjective economic status and subjective health status. School life satisfaction differed by school year, subjective economic status, and subjective health status. Mindfulness had moderating effect on the association between stress and school life satisfaction, as well as on the association between interpersonal relationship-related stress and school life satisfaction. In conclusion, efforts should be made to relieve stress regarding the level mindfulness, with the objective of making female college students more satisfied with their school life. These efforts are expected to be more effective by grouping the subjects, taking into account such characteristics as school year, economic status, and health status.
