The purposes of this study are to survey stereotypes of control-display relationships for seven principal controls in passenger cars using the paper-pencil and hardware tests, and to examine stereotype strength of the paper-pencil test through comparing the stereotypes for the controls derived by the two methods. Ninety two and 60 college-aged students participated in the paper-pencil test and the real car simulation of the hardware test, respectively. There are dominant motion-directions for all controls in the paper-pencil test, while in the hardware test, there are dominant motion-directions for six controls including head light, high beam, door window, ignition key, door key and door lock controls. The stereotypes of motion-directions for six controls obtained by the paper-pencil test were the same as or similar to those by the hardware test. It was inferred from this that the congruence of the stereotypes by the two methods might be attributed to two simple motion-direction principles of 'clockwise for increase' and 'upward for increase.' Although it is known that the hardware test would be best for obtaining accurate stereotypes between controls and displays, this study implies that if the paper-pencil test is well designed, the paper-pencil test can produce the same results as the hardware test at low cost and without consuming time.

It is presumable that properly designed earcons given simultaneously with visual information could enhance the situation awareness of operators when they are involving in highly complicate process control activities. In this study, population stereotypes of earcons with respect to process control information were identified using 60 Korean subjects. To do this, 11 most distinctive earcons were selected from various earcons having different pitch, rhythm, and timbre. Associations between the selected earcons and 40 pairs of adjectives used to describe the state of control in process were gathered from 37 subjects using a semantic differential method. Based on the results from multivariate analyses, the 40 pairs of adjectives were aggregated into three distinctive semantic dimensions. The emotional maps of the 11 earcons matched with the semantic dimensions were presented in this study. On the basis of these results, a general guideline was suggested for designing earcons to deliver process control information.

네트워크 상에서 활동하는 윔을 모델링하는 연구는 특정 윔에 한정되어 있다. 따라서 기존에 발표된 웜의 확산 모델링 연구는 그 범위를 다른 수많은 윔으로 확장하기에 어려움이 따르며, 이를 위한 표준화 연구도 부족한 실정이다 따라서 본 연구에서는 Non-fuction requrirement(NFR)의 개념을 이용하여 웜의 속성을 정의하고 이 정의를 바탕으로 자체 전파되는 웜의 표현 기법을 제안한다. 현재로서는 사용자의 추가적인 작동을 요구하지 않는 자체 전파 웜에 대하여 한정하고 있으나, 이를 확장하면 다양한 형태의 웜을 표현할 수 있는 도구가 될 수 있다.

Sensing is an important part of a smart home system. Vision sensors are a type of passive systems, which are not sensitive to noise. In this paper, we implement a prototype for stereo vision systems using OpenCV. It is an open source library for computer vision developed by Intel corporation. The prototype will by used for comparing performance among various stereo algorithms and for developing a stereo vision smart camera.

This study focuses on the news making system of the prime time news of PSB in Korean society, where the presence of ethnic minorities is increasing rapidly. Although the World Wide Web has become one of the most attractive media over the last decade, Korean PSB, Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), still remains the most popular and influential medium. Therefore, the process of analyzing news making system of ethnic minorities in Korean society represented in Korean PSB as a social construction is meaningful in that it provides an important key to understand the cultural and political background and characteristics of society. For this purpose, the article tries to understand news making process when producing news related to ethnic minorities in the Korean society such as migrant workers, married migrant women and mixed-heritage children of multicultural families by interview with ten reporters in KBS. As a result, most KBS reporters had stereotypes towards multiculturalism and migrants and news reports relating to ethnic minorities are usually produced routinely, using a set of rules that have become part of KBS culture.

The current applications can be characterized as consisting of complex objects related by complex relationship. Therefore the relational database has been extended to object-relational database because of the complex objects. Accordingly, we need database design methodology for object-relational database. In this pager, we develop an integrated design methodology based on a extended UML class diagram for object-relational database. We make the extend UML class diagram by adding new stereotypes for object-relational database. Also we propose a guideline for transforming the extended UML class diagram to object-relational database schema. We use SQL:1999 as a object-relational data model and Oracle11g as a target object-relational database. We can build more easily and efficiently object-relational database for Oracle11g by using our methodology. Finally we applied our methodology on a computer classroom reservation system for evaluation the methodology.

The image calls forth the curiosity of the children. children experience the many thing through the image and it makes children to study naturally. Specially, the animation socializes children and it plays an important role in form of a self-identity. The gender-identity reappearance of the animation character is important. Gender-identity reappearance type of the animation character is able to classify with the reappearance type of visual information and the narrative. The narrative reappearance type does more clearly visual information reappearance type. Also classifying the gender-identity of animation character aspects into each type, they are; gender stereotype that character reflects the conservative and commercial ideology; gender non-stereotype that character doesn't reflect gender stereotype. But reappearance of the gender non-stereotype character as well, it is stopping in the exaggeration or the caricature of gender role of the character. Consequently the animation characters must be reappeared with the character which have the future oriented gender identity-as one human being that forms a value subjectively. The animation which reappears the future oriented gender-identity plants a proper self-perception and gender role in children and relaxes the traditional gender-identity which is already acquired.

MDD is suitable to satisfy constraints of development of mobile applications. So, there are various studies about applying MDD to the developments of mobile application but systematic development methods about UML profile for PIM/PSM of mobile applications and model transformation techniques are needed. This paper suggests that a development technique about UML profile for PIM/PSM of mobile applications and a model transformation techniques with the profiles. We classify stereotypes by the characteristics of mobile application to compose profiles and suggest development guidelines of profiles for PIM/PSM. On the suggested model transformation process, the PIM with the profiles is transformed to the intial PSM with the mapping rules and the PSM is transformed to the refined PSM with templates which reflected detailed information of a mobile platform. We developed a location based service mobile application with the suggested techniques on the Android platform and compared with other techniques to validate usefulness of the suggested techniques.

This study aims to find the fundamental problem of skepticism as a PE teacher. For above, a PE teacher, Jun-ho Lee is selected as a participant of this study and used the life history method. Based on the result of above, the contents of 1) 'Stereotype and subculture', 2) 'Changing in discipline.', 3) 'Confusion and self-accusation', 4) 'Ordinary teacher, not a true teacher' is drawn. This result shows that the skepticism concerned the teacher can be explained as 'irony of change' and it is confirmed that this is originated by the fundamental background as 'simultaneity of non-simultaneous'. In conclusion, the emotional exhaustion due to the inconsistency of 'simultaneity of non-simultaneous' existing in the school is inevitable consequence, and on the other hand, it shows that he is an ordinary PE teacher and it helps to understand the life and worry of ordinary PE teachers in Korean society.

The purpose of this study is to critically review recent discourse on aging appeared in Korean newspapers. For this purpose, 1,725 articles on 'aging' or 'elderly' appeared on three major Korean newspapers during 1997- 2006 are analyzed. It is shown that there is a recent surge of articles portraying the positive images of aging in Korean newspapers emphasizing the importance of productive, successful aging and active life style of the elderly. This trend is a welcomed change from the negative images of elderly as dependent burden of society. However, it seems that over emphasis on positive aging and 'New Elderly' might have created another stereotype about the elderly and unintentionally marginalize the certain group of the elderly. By focusing on individual responsibility, it also overlooked the constraints imposed by social structure on disadvantaged elderly group, such as women, elderly in low socio-economic strata. Theoretical and policy implications of this trends are discussed.
