Implementation of fluid flow measuring and warning alarm system using an WeMos and an fluid flow sensor (WeMos와 유량 센서를 이용한 유속 모니터링 및 경보 알림 시스템 구현)

  • Measurement of flow rate is required in various fields. Water meters are often used at home, and flow meters are used in water and sewage plants, petrochemical industries and so on.. A system is needed to monitor the flow rate in real time and notify immediately when flow rate is abnormal. Recently, with the development of the IoT it is possible to construct such devices at low cost. WeMos can be programmed with Arduino IDE as a mini wifii IoT module. The flow sensor can output a digital pulse proportional to the flow rate. In this paper, we developed the flow monitoring and warning system using WeMos and IoT technology. When the system operates, it calculates the flow rate, sends the value as JSON format to the server, monitors the flow rate as graph from the remote with the smartphone. We also implement the system to promptly send alert message to the smart phone using Pushbullet when the flow rate is abnormal.

  • Front End Engineering Design (FEED), currently dominated by a few advanced countries, creates the highest added-value in the in plant construction industry. In the domestic plant engineering industry, it is difficult to acquire its own technology capability and experience due to lack of experience and shortage of experts in advanced design fields such as basic design and FEED. To achieve competitiveness with the advanced countries, it is necessary to establish smart training system for advanced plant design and FEED engineers. This study aims to design an integrated training framework for plant engineering and FEED using system engineering to build a smart plant engineering education system that learns design knowledge based on educational content and experience based on design stage for chemical plant.

  • As the impacts of global climate change become increasingly apparent, the reduction of carbon emissions has emerged as a critical subject of discussion. Nuclear power has garnered attention as a potential carbon-free energy source; however, the rapidity of load following in nuclear power generation poses challenges in comparison to fossil-fueled methods. Consequently, power-to-gas systems, which integrate nuclear power and hydrogen, have attracted growing interest. This study presents a preliminary design of a very high temperature reactor (VHTR) integrated blue hydrogen production process utilizing DWSIM, an open-source process simulator. The blue hydrogen production process is estimated to supply the necessary calorific value for carbon capture through tail gas combustion heat. Moreover, a thermodynamic assessment of the main recuperator is performed as a function of the helium flow rate from the VHTR system to the blue hydrogen production system.

  • 항로표지는 해상상황 정보를 수집하고 선박들의 항해에 안전을 도모하기 위해 설치 및 운용되고 있다. 관련해 개별 지방청에서 운영되는 데이터를 빅데이터 형태로 활용하고자 하는 경우 수집된 데이터의 품질에 대한 평가가 이루어져야 한다. 본 논문에서는 수집된 항로표지 데이터의 누락 정보를 중심으로 데이터 수집에 있어 장애 생성의 주된 원인을 찾고자 하였다. 수집된 데이터의 분석 결과 기상악화와 표지의 전압이 하락한 날에 데이터 결측 발생률이 톺음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 기상 상황, 표지의 전압 상태 그리고 수집된 데이터 개수의 비교를 통해 기상악화가 영향을 미쳤을 수 있음을 확인하였다.

A Efficient Network Security Management Model in Industrial Control System Environments (산업제어시스템 환경에서 효과적인 네트워크 보안 관리 모델)

  • The industrial control system (ICS) has operated as a closed network in the past, but it has recently been linked to information and communications services and has been causing damage due to cyber attacks. As a countermeasure, the Information Communication Infrastructure Protection Act was enacted, but it cannot be applied to various real control environments because there is only a one-way policy-from a control network to a business network. In addition, IEC62443 defines an industrial control system reference model as an international standard, and suggests an area security model using a firewall. However, there is a limit to linking an industrial control network, operating as a closed network, to an external network only through a firewall. In this paper, we analyze the security model and research trends of the industrial control system at home and abroad, and propose an industrial control system security model that can be applied to the actual interworking environments of various domestic industrial control networks. Also, we analyze the security of firewalls, industrial firewalls, network connection equipment, and one-way transmission systems. Through a domestic case and policy comparison, it is confirmed that security is improved. In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, the proposed security model can be applied to security management measures for various industrial control fields, such as smart factories, smart cars, and smart plants.

  • In the insect industry, as the scope of application of insects is expanded from pet insects and natural enemies to feed, edible and medicinal insects, the demand for quality control of insect raw materials is increasing, and interest in securing the safety of insect products is increasing. In the process of expanding the industrial scale, controlling the temperature and humidity and air quality in the insect breeding room and preventing the spread of pathogens and other pollutants are important success factors. It requires a controlled environment under the operating system. European commercial insect breeding facilities have attracted considerable investor interest, and insect companies are building large-scale production facilities, which became possible after the EU approved the use of insect protein as feedstock for fish farming in July 2017. Other fields, such as food and medicine, have also accelerated the application of cutting-edge technology. In the future, the global insect industry will purchase eggs or small larvae from suppliers and a system that focuses on the larval fattening, i.e., production raw material, until the insects mature, and a system that handles the entire production process from egg laying, harvesting, and initial pre-treatment of larvae., increasingly subdivided into large-scale production systems that cover all stages of insect larvae production and further processing steps such as milling, fat removal and protein or fat fractionation. In Korea, research and development of insect smart factory farms using artificial intelligence and ICT is accelerating, so insects can be used as carbon-free materials in secondary industries such as natural plastics or natural molding materials as well as existing feed and food. A Korean-style customized breeding system for shortening the breeding period or enhancing functionality is expected to be developed soon.

  • In this paper, we developed the ice machine conditions monitoring system that confirms conditions of the ice machine. The developed system is composed of Communication Board, Server Program, and Web-based User Application. Communication Board which is connected to the ice machine periodically sends various data, such as current, voltage, the refrigerant pressure and temperature, the external temperature and humidity. Server Program stores the data received from Communication Board into database. The manager or the ice machine operator can see the state of the own machine through User Application based on Web. When a symptom is detected on the ice machine, the manager and the operator can checks the current condition of the ice machine by using the data obtained in real time and also prevents the machine troubles by taking proper actions.

  • LoRa LPWAN network system uses a license-exempt wireless communication system and implements data measurement through the integrated sensor based on Mems and wireless communication of existing measurement sensors. This system has superior technological / economic superiority using existing network and long distance communication compared to existing wireless measurement system, and secured economical efficiency by minimizing system construction equipment compared to wired measurement system. It is confirmed that the economical efficiency can be reduced by 41% compared to the conventional wired metering system. Since the LoRa LPWAN network system is excellent in terms of maintenance and operation, if installed in many bridges in Korea in the future, it will be developed as an excellent system in the maintenance of bridges.   • There are frequent accidents by chemicals during laboratory experiments and pilot plant and reactor operations. It is necessary to find and comprehend relevant information to prevent accidents before starting synthesis experiments. In the process design stage, reaction information is also necessary to prevent runaway reactions. Although there are various sources available for synthesis information, including the Internet, it takes long time to search and is difficult to choose the right path because the substances used in each synthesis method are different. In order to solve these problems, we propose an intelligent synthetic path search system to help researchers shorten the search time for synthetic paths and identify hazardous intermediates that may exist on paths. The system proposed in this study automatically updates the database by collecting information existing on the Internet through Web scraping and crawling using Selenium, a Python package. Based on the depth-first search, the path search performs searches based on the target substance, distinguishes hazardous chemical grades and yields, etc., and suggests all synthetic paths within a defined limit of path steps. For the benefit of each research institution, researchers can register their private data and expand the database according to the format type. The system is being released as open source for free use. The system is expected to find a safer way and help prevent accidents by supporting researchers referring to the suggested paths.

Development of System for Real-Time Object Recognition and Matching using Deep Learning at Simulated Lunar Surface Environment (딥러닝 기반 달 표면 모사 환경 실시간 객체 인식 및 매칭 시스템 개발)

  • Continuous research efforts are being devoted to unmanned mobile platforms for lunar exploration. There is an ongoing demand for real-time information processing to accurately determine the positioning and mapping of areas of interest on the lunar surface. To apply deep learning processing and analysis techniques to practical rovers, research on software integration and optimization is imperative. In this study, a foundational investigation has been conducted on real-time analysis of virtual lunar base construction site images, aimed at automatically quantifying spatial information of key objects. This study involved transitioning from an existing region-based object recognition algorithm to a boundary box-based algorithm, thus enhancing object recognition accuracy and inference speed. To facilitate extensive data-based object matching training, the Batch Hard Triplet Mining technique was introduced, and research was conducted to optimize both training and inference processes. Furthermore, an improved software system for object recognition and identical object matching was integrated, accompanied by the development of visualization software for the automatic matching of identical objects within input images. Leveraging satellite simulative captured video data for training objects and moving object-captured video data for inference, training and inference for identical object matching were successfully executed. The outcomes of this research suggest the feasibility of implementing 3D spatial information based on continuous-capture video data of mobile platforms and utilizing it for positioning objects within regions of interest. As a result, these findings are expected to contribute to the integration of an automated on-site system for video-based construction monitoring and control of significant target objects within future lunar base construction sites.
