Study of Implementation as Digital Twin Framework for Vertical Smart Farm (식물공장 적용 디지털 트윈 프레임워크 설계 연구)

  • This paper presents a framework design of a digital twin system for a vertical smart farm. In this paper, a framework of digital twin systems establishes three factors: 1) Client 2) IoT gateway, and 3) Server. Especially, IoT gateway was developed using the Eclipse Ditto, which has been commonly used as the standard open hardware platform for digital twin. In particular, each factor is communicating with the client, IoT gateway, and server by defining the message sequence such as initialization and data transmission. In this paper, we describe the digital twin technology trend and major platform. The proposed design has been tested in a testbed of the lab-scale vertical smart-farm. The sensor data is received from 1 Jan to 31 Dec 2020. In this paper, a prototype digital twin system that collects environment and control data through a raspberry pi in a plant factory and visualizes it in a virtual environment was developed.

IoT Collaboration System Based on Edge Computing for Smart Livestock System (스마트 축사를 위한 에지 컴퓨팅 기반 IoT 협업 시스템)

  • The smart farm for livestock, in which information and communication technology (ICT) is combined with livestock farm, is mostly based on the cloud computing paradigm. A cloud-based smart livestock farm has disadvantages such as increased response time, burden on cloud resource caused by the increased number of IoT sensors, traffic burden on the network, and lack of failure resilience mechanisms through collaboration with adjacent IoT devices. In this paper, with these problems in mind, we propose an IoT collaboration system based on edge computing. By using the relatively limited computing resources of the edge device to share the cloud's web server function, we aim to reduce the cloud's resources needed and improve response time to user requests. In addition, through the heartbeat-based failure recovery mechanism, IoT device failures were detected and appropriate measures were taken.

Strawberry Pests and Diseases Detection Technique Optimized for Symptoms Using Deep Learning Algorithm (딥러닝을 이용한 병징에 최적화된 딸기 병충해 검출 기법)

  • This study aimed to develop a service model that uses a deep learning algorithm for detecting diseases and pests in strawberries through image data. In addition, the pest detection performance of deep learning models was further improved by proposing segmented image data sets specialized in disease and pest symptoms. The CNN-based YOLO deep learning model was selected to enhance the existing R-CNN-based model's slow learning speed and inference speed. A general image data set and a proposed segmented image dataset was prepared to train the pest and disease detection model. When the deep learning model was trained with the general training data set, the pest detection rate was 81.35%, and the pest detection reliability was 73.35%. On the other hand, when the deep learning model was trained with the segmented image dataset, the pest detection rate increased to 91.93%, and detection reliability was increased to 83.41%. This study concludes with the possibility of improving the performance of the deep learning model by using a segmented image dataset instead of a general image dataset.

  • 현재 대한민국은 고령 사회이다. 매년 노인인구의 비율을 증가하고 있으며 2025년에는 노인인구 비율이 20%가 넘으면서 초고령사회로 접어들 전망이다. 이러한 사회적 특성으로 우리는 많은 노인 문제를 겪고 있다. 그 중 대표적인 문제는 독거노인의 비율이 증가함에 따라 매년 고독사하는 독거노인이 많아지고, 지방의 농가인구 또한 점점 감소하고 있다는 점이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 사회문제를 해결하기 위해 Flutter를 활용한 애플리케이션 개발을 통해 식물과 IOT 기술을 접목하여 이들에게 도움을 주고자 한다. 독거노인에게는 반려 식물 시스템을 제공하여 이들의 우울증을 완화하고, 지방의 농가인구에 효과적인 스마트팜 시스템을 서비스 함으로써 이러한 사회문제를 해결하는 데 도움을 주고자 한다.

Grain cultivation traceability system using ICT for smart agriculture (스마트 농업 구현을 위한 ICT기반 곡물 재배이력관리 시스템)

  • In this paper, a cultivation traceability system to implement smart agriculture developed and implemented, and in particular, devised a system that manages the cultivation traceability of grains that are difficult to grow in smart farms. Mobile and web programs based on smart devices are designed, and the collected information is stored in a DB server and can be used as big data. In addition, real-time location information and agricultural activity information can be matched using an electronic map(Vworld) based on GIS/LBS applying GPS of a mobile device. By designing the cultivation traceability information DB required in the field, the farmhouse, farmers, and cultivation information were developed to make it easy for managers to use, and implemented mobile and web programs in the field. The system is expected to raise the quality and safety management capabilities to the next level in response to variables such as labor saving effect and climate change.

  • Due to the rapid development of Internet-of-Things technology, different types of smart sensors are now devised and deployed widely. These smart sensors are now used in animal husbandry which was traditionally managed by the experience of farmers, such that wearable sensors for livestock, and the smart farm which is equipped with multiple sensors are utilized to increase the efficiency of livestock management. Herein, we consider a scheme in which the body temperature and the level of activity are measured by smart sensor which is attached to the neck of dairy cattle and the health condition is monitored based on collected data. Especially, we find that the estrous of dairy cattle which is one of most important metric in milk production, can be predicted with high precision using various machine learning techniques. By utilizing the proposed prediction scheme, estrous of cattle can be detected immediately and this can improve the efficiency of cattle management.

  • Livestock disease is a very important issue in the livestock industry because if livestock disease is not responded quickly enough, its damage can be devastating. To solve the issues involving the occurrence of livestock disease, it is necessary to diagnose in advance the status of livestock disease and develop systematic and scientific livestock feeding technologies. However, there is a lack of domestic studies on such technologies in Korea. This paper, therefore, proposes Livestock Disease Forecasting and Livestock Farm Integrated Control System using Cloud Computing to quickly manage livestock disease. The proposed system collects a variety of livestock data from wireless sensor networks and application. Moreover, it saves and manages the data with the use of the column-oriented database Hadoop HBase, a column-oriented database management system. This provides livestock disease forecasting and livestock farm integrated controlling service through MapReduce Model-based parallel data processing. Lastly, it also provides REST-based web service so that users can receive the service on various platforms, such as PCs or mobile devices.

  • IoT is being used in a lot of industry domain such as smart home, smart ocean, smart energy, and smart farm, as well as legacy information services. For a server, an IoT device using the same protocol is a trusted object. Therefore, a malicious attacker can use an unauthorized IoT device to access IoT-based information services and access unauthorized important information, and then modify or extract it to the outside. In this study, to improve these problems, we propose an IoT device authentication system used in IoT-based information service. The IoT device authentication system proposed in this study applies identifier-based authentication such as MAC address. If the IoT device authentication function proposed in this study is used, only the authenticated IoT device can access the server. Since this study applies a method of terminating the session of an unauthorized IoT device, additional research on the access deny method, which is a more secure authentication method, is needed.

  • In line with the 4th Industrial Revolution, facility maintenance technologies for building smart factories are receiving attention and are being advanced. In addition, technology is being applied to smart farms and smart fisheries following smart factories. Among them, in the case of a recirculating aquaculture system, there is a motor pump that circulates water for a stable quality environment in the tank. Motor pump maintenance activities for recirculating aquaculture system are carried out based on preventive maintenance and data obtained from vibration sensor. Preventive maintenance cannot cope with abnormalities that occur before prior planning, and vibration sensors are affected by the external environment. This paper proposes an anomaly detection algorithm that utilizes ADTK, a Python open source, for motor pump anomaly detection based on data collected through current sensors that are less affected by the external environment than noise, temperature and vibration sensors.

Here, IoT devices are physically installed in various places. A malicious attacker can access the IoT service using an unauthorized IoT device, access unauthorized important information, and then modify it. In this study, to solve these problems, we propose an authentication system for IoT devices used in IoT services. The IoT device authentication system proposed in this study consists of an authentication module mounted on the IoT device and an authentication module of the IoT server. If the IoT device authentication system proposed in this study is used, only authorized IoT devices can access the service and access of unauthorized IoT devices can be denied. Since this study proposes only the basic IoT device authentication mechanism, additional research on additional IoT device authentication functions according to the security strength is required.IoT technol
