Development of Gait Monitoring System Based on 3-axis Accelerometer and Foot Pressure Sensors (3축 가속도 센서와 족압 감지 시스템을 활용한 보행 모니터링 시스템 개발)

  • Most Koreans walk having their toes in or out, because of their sedentary lifestyles. In addition, using smartphone while walking makes having a desirable walking posture even more difficult. The goal of this study is to make a simple system which easily analyze and inform any person his or her personal walking habit. To discriminate gait patterns, we developed a gait monitoring system using a 3-axis accelerometer and a foot pressure monitoring system. The developed system, with an accelerometer and a few pressure sensors, can acquire subject's foot pressure and how tilted his or her torso is. We analyzed the relationship between type of gate and sensor data using this information. As the result of analysis, we could find out that statistical parameters like standard deviation and root mean square are good for discriminating among torso postures, and k-nearest neighbor algorithm is good at clustering gait patterns. The developed system is expected to be applicable to medical or athletic fields at a low price.

  • 본 연구에서는 스마트 디바이스를 이용하여 보행자의 상태를 감지하여 필요한 사용자의 정보에 대해 얻는 방법을 제안하고, 이를 분석하는 모델을 연구하여 예방 방안을 제공하는 서비스를 제안하였다. 분석 모델을 Sensing, Thinking, Action의 세 단계로 나누어 분류한 세부적인 수행 순서를 정하였다. Sensing 단계에서 센서, 디바이스, 어플리케이션 등을 통해 사용자에 대한 있는 그대로의 정보를 받아들여 디바이스가 인식하게 하고, 이를 분석해 사용자의 상태 및 상황에 대해 Thinking하고, 그에 맞는 Action을 취한다. 본 논문에서는 분석 모델의 정해진 수행 순서에서의 기능들을 설명하고, 그에 맞는 예상 구현 시나리오를 제시하였다.

  • In accordance to rapid aging of population, the accidents of elderly pedestrian and pedestrian safety are becoming very important issues. In terms of smartphone technologies, older people are increasingly looking for useful and friendly ICT services that which can add a value on their silver life. This paper introduced a new IT-based service for elderly walking assist using a smart-phone accompanied by a wearable watch. We describe the functional requirements and a systems architecture model with an interface between a smart-phone and wearable watch. Moreover, this study attempted to verify what services are needed and to estimate elderly pedestrians' WTP (willingness to pay) for IT-based walking assistance device. A total of 189 elderly pedestrians were randomly surveyed through face-to-face interviews. The questionnaire consisted of 3 categories: (1) questions pertaining to socio-economic status, (2) 12 questions regarding walking attitudes, and (3) a question to measure WTP. With this gathered data, factor analysis and path model estimating were conducted. The results identified the elderly user requirements and the use-value of new innovative products for IT-based walking assistance services by two groups(latent elderly and elderly). The modeling result shows that elderly's service preference would increase the possibilities for the commercialization of IT-based walking device with improving their walking safety.

  • 본 논문은 스마트 인솔의 압력 데이터를 이용하는 컨볼루션 신경망 모델에 해석가능한 인공지능 방법인 Grad-CAM을 적용하는 방법을 제안한다. 학습된 각 모델에 Grad-CAM을 적용하여 모델에서 중요한 역할을 하는 압력센서와 중요하지 않은 압력센서를 알아내는 방법을 제안하고 데이터마다 학습을 진행하고 학습된 모델을 통해 실제로 중요한 압력센서와 그렇지 않은 압력센서에 대해서 알아본다.

  • In this paper, we compare and analyze smart technologies and present six obstacle detection features to help visually impaired people walk. Traditionally, visually impaired people walk with the white cane or a guide dog. With the development of IoT technology, various smart walking aids systems have been developed. Those intelligent walking aids systems have obstacle-detecting systems and route-guidance systems. Many researchers are developing the walking aids system, which detects an obstacle and provides the obstacle information by haptic feedback. Also, they are designing the database server system to share the obstacle information. Particularly the composed system can quickly give an obstacle-avoidance route using shared obstacle information. Smart walking aids systems for visually impaired people will advance more rapidly by applying machine learning and intelligent systems.

  • 최근 전 세계적으로 5G 이동통신 표준화 및 연구개발이 시작되었다. 기존의 4세대까지의 이동통신은 주로 가정, 사무실 등 보행자 중심의 Nomadic 환경에 최적화된 형태이고 120km/h 이상의 고속환경에서는 통신접속이 끊어지지 않는 정도의 서비스에 한정되었다. 최근에는 스마트폰 중심의 모바일 데이터 서비스 사용량이 매년 가파른 증가세를 보이며 보행자 중심의 저속환경뿐만 아니라 지하철, 고속철 등 그룹이동체 내에서의 서비스도 점차 중요해지고 있다. 이동 중인 차량 내에서 일반 사용자들은 차량외부의 이동통신망을 통해 직접 서비스를 받을 수도 있고 이동무선백홀과 결합된 WLAN 혹은 펨토셀과 같은 차량내 이동 핫스팟 네트워크(MHN)형태로 서비스를 받을 수 있다. 최근 5G 이동통신에서는 고속환경(최대 500km/hr)에서도 최적의 서비스 품질을 유지하도록 요구하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 그룹이동체 내의 이동소형셀의 지원을 위한 이동무선백홀 기술의 동향을 분석하고 향후 수 Gbps급 이상의 데이터 전송속도를 지원할 수 있는 밀리미터파 기반의 MHN 이동무선백홀 기술을 소개한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the daily living area of the elderly using the vast amount of travel route data collected through smart phones. In order to analyze the utilization status of the elderly into the visiting area and the living area, the subway station influence area was typed based on the number and ratio of the elderly visiting and the elderly living there. The characteristics of the elderly visiting area and the living area of the subway station area were derived by analyzing the walking route data for the three types of subway station influence areas where the elderly visit and live. First, we derive the range of visiting area and living area of the elderly near the subway station. Second, we derive the characteristic of moving distance which causes the linked walking of the elderly. Third, destination distribution and facility utilization are influenced by the subject of use, movement pattern, and facility awareness.

  • Recently, there has been a growing interest in user-centered smart city services. In this study, user behavior analysis was performed as a preliminary study for user - centered smart city service planning. In particular, we will use GIS based location analysis data and video ethonography methodology to derive smart city service direction and needs. In this study, the area of Daejeon Design District selected as the Smart City Test bed was selected as the survey area and the location analysis data of the traffic accident analysis system of the road traffic corporation and the fixed camera We observed user's behavior type and change with image data extracted through the technique. Location analysis data is classified according to the type of accident, and image data is classified into 11 subdivided types of user activities. The problems and specificities observed were analyzed. The user behavior characteristics investigated through this study are meaningful to provide a basis for suggesting user - centered smart city services in the future.

  • For the elderly whose path-finding capability and distance perception abilities have been weakened, the study intends to provide UI design of a wrist type walking aid device which allows the elderly to receive both visual and haptic information that induces the elderly' occasional attention by utilizing currently available haptic technology. The study asked 30 the elderly older than 65 years old, target consumers of the technology, to wear a smart watch and find a path by following the directions provided by four different UI versions of Wizard of Oz. Then, the study has conducted post-experience interview. Quantitative analyses was performed their preference level, number of misguided participants and the number of deviations incurred. Based on the data collected, the study has applied grounded theory, a qualitative research methodology, in order to grasp new understanding about the research, and has consequently reached some significant implications for further research on wrist type walking aid device for the elderly, who show self-contradictory demands.

  • 빛의 반사시간 및 산란정보를 측정하여 기상정보를 수집하던 초기 라이다 기술은 실내외 3차원 정보를 확보하는 센서 기술로 응용 영역을 확대하고 있다. 특히 최근에는 자율주행차/스마트카를 중심으로 차량/보행자의 안전과 고도화된 자율주행 성능을 위하여 차량 주변 환경에 대한 3차원 좌표를 고속으로 획득하는 라이다 기술의 중요성이 부각되고 있으며, 이에 따라 관련 기술에 대한 이해와 동향파악이 필요하다. 이에 본고에서는 차량에 적용될 수 있는 라이다 기반 3차원 영상센서 기술 전반에 대한 리뷰를 진행하고, 자율주행차/스마트카 시장에서 핵심이슈 및 기술별 대응 특징을 소개한다. 아울러 3차원 센서기술의 글로벌 경쟁상황을 기반으로 향후 차량용 라이다 기술의 발전방향을 전망해 본다.
