Scene Composition Technology Based on HTML5 in Hybrid Broadcasting Environment (하이브리드 방송 환경 하에서 HTML5 기반 장면구성 기술)

  • Hybrid broadcasting environment is convergence of broadcasting and communication environment. In hybrid broadcasting environment, a number of media can be delivered using both broadcasting channel and other network unlike traditional broadcast environment that is able to deliver a couple of media by the limited bandwidth. Now, starting with smart TV, hybrid broadcasting environment combining broadcasting channel and IP network is established, and a variety of services are appearing. Moreover, the services using hybrid broadcasting environment are expected to appear soon for the other smart terminals such as smart phone and tablet PC. Scene composition is one of the methods that can consume effectively a number of media delivered from hybrid broadcasting environment. Using scene composition, multiple media can be consumed through the specified presentation time and space. Therefore, in this paper, it proposes the scene composition technology that is suitable for hybrid broadcasting environment and smart terminals. However, the spatial composition and temporal composition of media using script language and style language of HTML5 might increase the complexity of processing, and cause limitation of avaliable terminals. Also, a document of HTML5 can describe only one scene. By these reason, the proposed scene composition technology extends HTML5 in order to provide the spatial and temporal composition of media and description of multiple scene through markup language. In addition, it includes the extension of HTML5 in terms of utilization in hybrid broadcasting environment. For this proposal, this paper describes the technology of HTML5 and proposed scene composition. Also, it verifies the scene composition with both implementations and experiments.

  • Application contents verifications and operations are essential for using a secure smart phone environment. In the existing smartphone environment, application verification was performed only in the application company and users has direct management application. However these application verification and management practices have been caused by a variety of security vulnerabilities. Therefore, we will analyze the security vulnerabilities in the existing methods and then we propose an application contents management of smart phone using pre-qualification method.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive transformation engine that provides smart devices with optimal user interfaces and media contents to their characteristics so as to conveniently control home networks remotely using smart devices in the wired and wireless home networks which various kinds of smart devices and home network devices are connected. The proposed engine dynamically transforms UI contents and transfers them using device profiles and UI transformation policies to make it suitable for smart devices. Moreover, the proposed engine offers suitable media contents for smart devices through capabilities of real-time media transcoding and streaming considering device and media profiles.

  • This paper deals with usability issue that is one of the important user interface issues in multimedia environment. The purpose of this study is to define the concept of affordance in multimedia environment, which is adapted from product design fields and to seek development plan of more efficient interface and assurance interaction with interface. As a result, it is useful that the concept of affordance in multimedia design is applied as a 'useful clue for performing task.' Furthermore, it is possible that the concept of affordance is used as one of the improving methods of usability for users in multimedia environment.

  • Thesedays, there are many smart device applications developed, especially on the using various sensors included in the smart device. Smart devices have several sensors which are camera, GPS, mike, and communication module for collecting ubiquitous environment, and many applications are developed by using such sensors. In this paper, we developed the multimedia stream architecture and examined the smart device applications based on open source with front and back-end server clouds for developing the conceptual architecture. Also, we examined the back-end distributed servers, realtime multimedia stream transferring, multi-media store, and media relay for other server and smart devices. We test the examined architecture on the real target environment to collect the SIP initial setup time, media stream delay, and end-to-end play time. The test results show that there have good network operation environment to provide realtime multimedia services, and we need to improve the end-to-end play time by minimizing the initial setup time.

  • In this study, an augmented reality(AR)-based information management system for agricultural facility is proposed. Using a variety of sensed data transmitted by Lora-based wireless networks deployed at the agricultural facility, this system is capable of augmenting the sensed data and displaying them on the user's smartphone screen to provide visualized information to user. When users point their smartphone camera to the agricultural facility, the environment information collected from numerous sensors installed at the facility would be visualized and appear on the screen. Unlike traditional system which requires user to search a specific facility and then select sensor(s) to obtain the environment information, the proposed system shows the information on smartphone screen by augmenting it with real image captured by camera without doing a series of time-taking selection process. Since the way of acquiring information is through image or video, this system contributes to convenient monitoring and efficient management for agricultural facility.

  • 본 논문에서는 홈 환경에서의 사용자의 컨텍스트에 따라 지능적으로 반응하는 미디어 콘텐츠인 vrFlora 을 소개한다. 이는 사용자의 정적인 프로파일 및 간단한 조작 정보 등을 이용하여 사용자의 명시적인 컨텍스트를 인지한다. 그리고 인지된 컨텍스트에 따라 vrFlora 의 자체적인 동기, 즉 감정과 욕구을 자율적으로 변화시키며 이에 따라 자발적인 반응을 표현한다. 더 나아가 사용자에 따라 동기의 변화 정도를 차별화 함으로써, 사용자에 따른 개인화된 반응을 나타낸다. 제안한 시스템의 유용성을 평가하기 위하여 스마트홈 환경을 위한 테스트 베드인 ubiHome 에 vrFlora 를 구현하였다. 그리고 사용자로 하여금 이를 자연스럽게 경험해 볼 수 있도록 하였다. 이를 통해 미래형 홈 환경에서의 지능형 미디어 콘텐츠에 대한 응용 가능성을 제시한다.

  • With the development of RFID and USN technology, kinds of services are appeared and industrialized to maximize management, maintenance and efficiency of production. In the agricultural field, it is important to increase productivity and quality of food by managing growth environment of plants. In this paper, to apply IT technology to agriculture, we present a mobile service application called WiSEMobile which support growers to monitor and manage the information in the field from remote sites. By using the service with mobile devices, farmers can monitor the change of environment with data from sensor nodes, manage and exchange kinds of data gathered by farmers in the field.

  • 지상파 UHD 방송은 시청자에게 기존 HD 방송화면보다 4배 더 선명한 영상 서비스를 제공하며, 광대역 통신망과 결합한 홈포탈(Home Portal) 서비스를 통해서 다양한 부가서비스를 지상파 방송과 함께 제공할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 지상파 UHD TV 방송과 연계된 360도 가상현실(VR; Virtual Reality) 부가서비스 시스템과 이를 효과적으로 시청하기 위한 사용자환경을 제안한다. 방송의 ESG(Electronic Service Guide)를 통해 시청자는 VR 부가서비스임을 확인하고 스마트 단말기 또는 HMD(Head Mount Display) 등을 이용하여 마치 현장에 있는 듯한 체험을 즐길 수 있다. 제안한 부가서비스는 앱 형태로 스마트 단말기에 설치하여 실행하며 지상파 UHD TV의 ESG 정보로부터 프로그램 편성과 VR 지원여부를 확인한다. 이를 통해, 실시간 방송 뿐 아니라 VOD 형태로 제공되는 다양한 비디오 및 오디오 콘텐츠를 극장에서 보는 것과 같은 빅스크린 모드, 360도 VR 모드, 오디오 청취모드 등 다양한 시청환경에서 감상할 수 있다. 제안한 사용자 환경은 게임엔진을 기반으로 개발되어 가상의 시청 공간에서 장소를 이동하며 영상, 음향 등 미디어 콘텐츠를 감상할 수 있다. 전용컨트롤러를 이용하면 다양한 인터액티브 콘텐츠를 효과적으로 운용하여 감상할 수 있으며, 일반적으로 통용되는 VR 기기 제어 모드도 지원하여 HMD나 일반 스마트 단말기 어느 것을 이용해서도 용이하게 사용자 메뉴를 선택할 수 있다. 제안된 시스템의 시제품은 IBC 2017 및 평창 ICT 체험관을 통해 발표되었다.
