  • This paper describes the effect of DME, biodiesel blended fuels on the macroscopic spray characteristics in a high pressure diesel injection system using Background Oriented Schlieren (BOS) method. The BOS method for visualization of impingement evaporation sprays to analyze macroscopic spray properties and evolutionary processes. In this work, the blending ratio of DME in the blended fuel are 0, 50, 100% by weight ratio. In order to investigate the macroscopic impinged spray characteristics under the various injection parameters and blending ratio. In this work, a mini-sac type single-hole nozzle injector with nozzle hole was length 0.7 mm and diameter of 0.3 mm was used. According to the result, the spray area of the collision wall increased as the DME mixing ratio increased, and the evolutionary pattern showed a stepwise increase due to the collision effect of the wall. Also, results of impinged spray area were increased according to increasing injection pressure.

예혼합 화염이 벽면에 충돌시 열전달 및 연소특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (The Experimental Study for Heat Transfer and Combustion Characteristics of Gaseous Impinging Jet Premixed Flame)

  • In the present study, the structure and the characteristics of gaseous premixed flame impinging normal to the flat plate have been investigated experimentally. For the examination of the heat transfer and combustion characteristics, measurements of temperature, direct and schlieren photography were performed. The results of present study show that the length of inner flame becomes smaller as distance from nozzle exit to plate decrease. The width of flame becomes larger as air-fuel ratio decreases. The smaller Reynolds number at nozzle exit and the smaller distance from nozzle exit to plate lead to the higher heat transfer rate in the region of center of plate. As the air-fuel ratio decreases, the heat transfer at plate with moderate rate occurs on wide region.

증기터빈 익렬유동에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Stream Turbine Cascade Flow)

  • The rapid expansion or condensible gas such as moist air of steam gives rise to nonequilibrium condensation. As a result of irreversibility of condensation process in the supersonic cascade flow of low pressure steam turbine, the entropy of the flow is increased, and the efficiency of the turbine is decreased. In the present study, to investigate the flow of moist air in 2-dimensional cascade made as the configuration of the tip section of the last actual steam turbine moving blade, the static pressure at both sides of pressure and suction of blade are measured by static pressure taps and the distribution of Mach number on both surfaces of the blade are obtained by using the measured static pressure. Also, the flow field is visualized by a schlieren system. From the experimental results, the effects of the stagnation temperature and specific humidity on the flow properties in a 2-dimensional stationary cascade of a practical steam turbine blade are clearly identified.

천음속 익형에서 발생하는 응축충격파의 피동제어에 의한 항력 감소 (Drag Reduction by Passive Control of Condensation Shock Wave in a Transonic Airfoil)

  • 천음속 익형에서 발생하는 응축충격파와 경계층의 간섭을 피동제어 하여 항력감소에 대한 연구를 2.5$\times$7$\textrm{cm}^2$ 천음속 풍동에서 수행하였다. 익형표면에 설치한 정압공으로 정압을, 익형후방에 설치한 8개의 Pitot probe로 전압을 동시에 측정하여 충격파를 통한 에너지의 손실과 항력의 변화를 계산하였고, 또한 유동장과 충격파의 형상을 가시화하기 위해 슈리렌 가시화 시스템을 사용하였다. 실험은 NACA 0012 익형에서 기공률 변화에 따른 피동제어의 항력감소 초과를 조사한 다음 NACA 64-018 익형에서는 기공률과 공동의 크기의 변화가 미치는 효과를 연구하였다. 피동제어의 개념은 충격파가 발생하는 하부벽을 다공벽으로 만들고 그 아래를 공동으로 만들면 충격파 후방의 상대적으로 높은 압력이 기류의 일부를 공동으로 자연스럽게 유입시키고 다시 공동에서 낮은 압력의 충격파 상류로 유출시키는 것이다.

2단분사 디젤분무의 거동 (Behavior of 2-Stage Injection on Diesel Spray)

  • The behavior of the 2-stage spray was studied by using the schlieren method with the high pressure common-rail injection system. The spray injected 2 times with the interval of $0.3ms{\sim}1.5ms$ between the 1st and the 2nd spray in a modeled combustion chamber of constant volume bomb. In this case, the quantity of injected fuel of 1st and 2nd also changed. The schlieren photograph shows that the 2nd spray goes further away than the 1st spray when the quantity of the 1st spray is less than that of the 2nd spray. The dispersion of the vapour to the combustion chamber is not affect in a 10% of 1st spray quantity. When the 1st spray quantity is more than the 2nd spray, the vapour scattering of spray is good.

  • In the present study the flow fields around pitching foils have been visualized by using a Schlieren method with a high speed camera in a wind tunnel at low Reynolds number regions. It has been observed that small vortices are shed discretely from the leading and trailing edge and that they stand in line on the integrated streakline of separation shear layer. By counting vortices in the VTR frames it was clarified that the number of vortex shedding from the leading and trailing edge during one pitching cycle strongly depends on the non-dimensional pitching rate.

  • In this study, a rapid compression and expansion machine(RCEM) equipped with a swirl generator was designed and developed, in order to clarify normal and abnormal combustion(knocking phenomena). This RCEM is intended to simulate combustion process in actual automotive S.I.engines, having a high reproducibility in the compression stroke. Flame propagation and autoignition processes associated with normal and abnormal combustion were captured by the high speed schlieren photography. And swirl intensity. equivalence ratio and ignition position were varied to investigate the effect of turbulence, concentration in the unburnt gas region and flame propagation length. The knock intensity, knock mass fraction and knock mass fraction after autoignition were calculated by use of history of measured cylinder pressure.

보염기 형상에 따른 연료액적분포와 연소특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Drop Distribution and the Combustion Characteristics with different Bluff-body Geometries)

  • This work was performed to investigate the distribution of the fuel droplet size around the bluff-body and the combustion characteristics. The geometry of the bluff-body influenced the spray shape and the combustion characteristics. Diameters of the bluff-body in this experiment are 6, 8, and 10 mm and the impingement $angles({\theta})\;are\;30^{\circ},\;60^{\circ},\;and\;90^{\circ}$. The measurement points were at the distances of 20 and 30 mm axially from the nozzle. The SMD and Rosin-Rammler distribution was acquired by image processing technique (PMAS), and the mean temperatures were measured by thermocouple. The results obtained are as follows; In the condition of ${\theta}=60^{\circ}$, the values of SMD are not greatly varied compared to the other conditions. As the impingement angle of bluff-body was increased, the high temperature region was wider along radial direction. When the air-fuel ratio was increased, the CO concentration was decreased.

  • This article gives an overview of spray measurement technique were reviewed and suggestions. Spray formation mechanism is the most intellectually challenging and practically important topics in fluid mechanics. Methods for analysis of existing spray development have been developed in various ways, but if there is no support for relatively sufficient equipment, there are limitations to analysis. The newly measured and analyzed method may exceed the threshold for preparation of analysis and, as the results of two-dimensional individual analysis are aggregated and analyzed in three dimensions by a combination of analysis methods, the method is considered a relatively accurate analysis method that analysis.
