This paper proposes the new high-performance circuit architecture of the transform and quantization for unified video CODEC. The proposed architecture can be applied to all kinds of transforms and quantizations for the video compression standards such as JPEG, MPEG-1/2/4, H.264 and VC-1. We defined the permutation matrices to reorder the transform matrix of the $8{\times}8$ DCT and partitioned the reordered $8{\times}8$ transform matrix into four $4{\times}4$ sub-matrices. The $8{\times}8$ DCT is performed by repeating the $4{\times}4$ DCT's based on the reordered and partitioned transform matrices. Since our circuit accepts the transform coefficients from the users, it can be extended very easily to cover any kind of DCT-based transforms for future standards. The multipliers in the DCT circuit are shared by the quantization circuit in order to minimize the circuit size. The quantization circuit is merged into the DCT circuit without any significant increase of circuit resources and processing time. We described the proposed DCT and quantization circuit at RTL, and verified its operation on FPGA board.
Purpose The conventional solution methods for production scheduling problems typically focus on the active schedules, which result in short makespans. However, the active schedules are more difficult to generate than the semi active schedules. In other words, semi active schedule based search strategy may help to reduce the computational costs associated with production scheduling. In this context, this paper aims to compare the performances of active schedule based and semi active schedule based search methods for production scheduling problems. Design/methodology/approach Two decoding approaches, active schedule decoding and semi active schedule decoding, are introduced in this paper, and they are used to implement genetic algorithms for classical job shop scheduling problem. The permutation representation is adopted by the genetic algorithms, and the decoding approaches are used to obtain a feasible schedule from a sequence of given operations. Findings The semi active schedule based genetic algorithm requires slightly more iterations in order to find the optimal schedule, while its execution time is quite shorter than active schedule based genetic algorithm. Moreover, the operations of semi active schedule decoding is easy to understand and implement. Consequently, this paper concludes that semi active schedule based search methods also can be useful if effective search strategies are given.

Researchers of microarray experiment transpose processed images of raw data to possible data of statistical analysis: it is preprocessing. Preprocessing of microarray has image filtering, imputation and normalization. There have been studied about several different methods of normalization and imputation, but there was not further study on the order of the procedures. We have no further study about which things put first on our procedure between normalization and imputation. This study is about the identification of differentially expressed genes(DEG) on the order of the preprocessing steps using two-dye cDNA microarray in colon cancer and gastric cancer. That is, we check for compare which combination of imputation and normalization steps can detect the DEG. We used imputation methods(K-nearly neighbor, Baysian principle comparison analysis) and normalization methods(global, within-print tip group, variance stabilization). Therefore, preprocessing steps have 12 methods. We identified concordance measure of DEG using the datasets to which the 12 different preprocessing orders were applied. When we applied preprocessing using variance stabilization of normalization method, there was a little variance in a sensitive way for detecting DEG.
Although the delayed type of rhinoplasty is currently acceptable in the correction of cleft lip and nasal deformity, Delaire tried to achieve the simultaneous nasolabial reconstruction and muscular rearrangement that affect the subsequent skeletal growth of the face. the anatomic muscular reconstruction can be achieved by making the anchorage of the nasolabial muscles of the cleft side to the nasal septum and muscles on the non-cleft side. Two cleft lip patients of 6 and 7 year-old without any previous operation history were treated with the functional cheilorhinoplasty. One patient with incomplete cleft lip underwent a cheiloplasty along with the rearrangement of orbicularis oris muscle. The other patient had a complete cleft lip and palate with accompanying nasal deformity, who underwent the functional cheilorhinoplasty with the reconstruction of anterior nasal base. All the operation was done under the general anesthesia and patients healed without any significant complications. In the incomplete case, the shapes of Cupid's bow was restored, and the length of columella was regained comparable to the non-affected side. In the complete cleft lip and palate case, the depressed nostril was reconstructed with acceptable symmetry by complete releasing of deformed alar cartilage undermined with a dissecting scissors. In summary, the functional repair of cleft lip and nose could be possible at the same time by using Delaire method. This method is effective to correct the primary nasolabial deformity, which results in the restoring favorable anatomy and its function.

In this paper, we propose optimization methods for implementing SPARKLE, one of the NIST LWC finalists, on a 64-bit ARMv8 processor. The proposed methods consist of two approaches: an implementation using ARM A64 instructions and another using NEON ASIMD instructions. The A64-based implementation is optimized by performing register scheduling to efficiently utilize the available registers on the ARMv8 architecture. By utilizing the optimized A64-based implementation, we can achieve speeds that are 1.69 to 1.81 times faster than the C reference implementation on a Raspberry Pi 4B. The ASIMD-based implementation, on the other hand, optimizes data by parallelizing the ARX-boxes to perform more than three of them concurrently through a single vector instruction. While the general speed of the optimized ASIMD-based implementation is lower than that of the A64-based implementation, it only slows down by 1.2 times compared to the 2.1 times slowdown observed in the A64-based implementation as the block size increases from SPARKLE256 to SPARKLE512. This is an advantage of the ASIMD-based implementation. Therefore, the ASIMD-based implementation is more efficient for SPARKLE variant block cipher or permutation designs with larger block sizes than the original SPARKLE, making it a useful resource.

Probabilistic Risk Assessment considering statistically random variables is performed for the preliminary design of a Cable Stayed Bridge, which is Prestressed Concrete Bridge consisted of cable and plate girders, based on the method of Working Stress Design and Strength Design. Component reliabilities of cables and girders have been evaluated using the response surface of the design variables at the selected critical sections based on the maximum shear, positive and negative moment locations. Response Surface Method (RSM) is successfully applied for reliability analyses for this relatively small probability of failure of the complex structure, which is hard to obtain through Monte-Carlo Simulations. or through First Order Second Moment Method that can not easily calculate the derivative terms of implicit limit state functions. For the analysis of system reliability, parallel resistance system consisting of cables and plate girder is changed into series connection system and the result of system reliability of total structure is presented. As a system reliability, the upper and lower probabilities of failure for the structural system have been evaluated and compared with the suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes. The suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes reveals the unexpected combinations of element failures in significantly reduced time and efforts compared with the previous permutation method or system reliability analysis method, which calculates upper and lower bound failure probabilities.
Family-based tests such as the transmission and disequilibrium tests(TDT) have proved to be powerful tools in the search for disease genes. Unlike case-control studies, the tests are not affected by population admixture, which can lead to spurious association of multiple highly linked makers with disease-susceptible genes. Those tests have largely required knowledge of parental marker genotypes. However, parental data are often not available for late-onset diseases. In this article we propose sib-TDTs that overcome this problem by use of marker data from unaffected sib(s) instead of parents. To do this end, we fist defined a Mantel-Haenszel-type statistic for each haplotype and then proposed two tests based on this statistic. Simulation studies suggest that the proposed tests are robust to population admixture and are monotone increasing as a relative risk increases irrespective of mode of inheritance. We also illustrated the proposed tests with data adopted from Yonsei Cardiovascular Genome Center.

Purpose: To investigate the outcome of arthroscopic treatment for the complications of knee arthroplasty and to evaluate the effectiveness of arthroscopy. Materials and Methods: We analyzed 25 patients who underwent arthroscopy to treat complications of knee arthroplasty between May 1992 and June 2008. Nineteen cases out of 25 had total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and the remaining 6 cases had unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). Before arthroscopy, physical examinations and radiographic evaluations were carried out to find out the causes of complications. Joint fluid aspiration and hematologic evaluation were added when infection was suspected. Results: Among the diagnosis at the time of arthroscopy, there were 11 cases of infection, 6 cases of stiffness due to adhesion and fibrosis, and 2 cases of soft tissue impingement in the cases of TKA. Among the cases of UKA, one for each case of meniscal tear, subluxation of mobile insert, hemarthrosis, cement loose body, soft tissue impingement, and stiff knee was found. Nine out of 11 patients who had infection were treated successfully with arthroscopy but the remaining 2 cases underwent revision arthroplasty. Seven patients with arthrofibrosis had improved range of motion from $65^{\circ}$ preoperatively to $105^{\circ}$ postoperatively. The others also showed successful results after arthroscopy. Conclusion: Arthroscopy to treat complications after knee arthroplasty was a safe and effective method when appropriate selection of patients was made.
