A Study on the Characteristics of the Spatial expression of Max Bill (Max Bill의 공간표현 체계에 관한 연구)

  • Art belongs to men's mentality and plays the most representative role in mentality. The organization of mentality is complex, it has simple and distinct movement evolving into various configuration to achieve men's internal meaning and aim. The purpose of this study is to analyze Max Bill's characteristics of the spatial expression on his works, especially focuses on the concept called "simplicity". The simplicity does not means just a conceptual or formal terminology, but the logical principles of spatial organization through repeating arrangement, structural relationship, off-central ideas and the sequence of signs using by the composition of lines, faces and colors. He expressed the logical methods in various fields of art and has influenced his essential thoughts and emotion in men's mentality of the late 20th century20th century.

  • We review the eastern frog jump game and the western solitaire to apply the Baduk Pieces Game to mathematical education. This study introduce a didactical method of Baduk Pieces Game which is constructed with simplification, generalization, and extension. This didactical applications of the Baduk Pieces Game gives the students opportunities of patterns, generalization, and problem solving strategies.

  • DNA 마이크로어레이 기술의 발전으로 유전자 발현에 대한 많은 양의 정보가 쏟아지게 되었고, 이러한 정보들을 이용하여 유전자 조절 네트워크를 수학적으로 모델링하는 것이 시스템 생물학의 중요 관심사로 떠오르고 있다. 본 논문에서는 실험에서 얻어낸 데이터를 유전 프로그래밍을 이용한 기호 회귀를 통해 데이터 지점을 조정하고 유전 프로그래밍의 결과 함수를 이용해 각 지점에서의 미분값을 얻어내었다. 그 뒤, 불리안 네트워크를 표현하는 이진 배열과 S-시스템을 표현하는 실수 배열을 결합한 해를 사용하는 유전 알고리즘으로 앞에서 얻은 데이터를 이용해 원하는 S-시스템의 구조와 매개변수를 구해내었다.

  • Michael Polanyi's idea of tacit knowledge came from the realization that scientific objectivity and critical philosophy had become too restrictive for philosophy, especially in the realm of meaning, which is beyond positivistic proof and contains more non-critical elements than critical ones. In social life, people still share certain kinds of knowledge and beliefs which they obtain without making or learning those explicitly. Contemplating the role and significance of tacit knowledge, he called for a post-critical philosophy that integrates the realm of meaning and thereby appreciates the intertwined nature of tacit and explicit knowledge. Polanyi's position towards skepticism and doubt shows similarities with Charles S. Peirce's thinking about the relationship between belief and doubt. Although Peirce's semeiotics stands firmly in the tradition of critical philosophy, he affirms that doubt cannot be a constant state of mind and only belief can form a basis for a specific way of life. Polanyi's approach differs from Peirce's by focusing on the impossibility of scientific knowledge based solely on principles and precision, and his emphasis on the crucial role of the community of scientists. Nevertheless, the deeper implications of Peirce's contemplations on belief and doubt have myriad ramifications on the philosophy of science as well as the sociology of science.

Optimization of Coffee Extract Condition for the Manufacture of Instant Coffee by RSM (인스턴트커피 제조를 위한 커피추출조건 최적화)

  • In this study, we optimized the coffee extraction conditions for instant coffee production in two stage percolators, which is the most common coffee extractor for instant coffee production. A central composite design was used to build mathematical model equations for response surface methodology (RSM). In these equations, the yield and overall acceptability of the coffee extracts were expressed as second-order functions of three factors, the feed water temperature, draw-off factor (DOF), and extraction time (cycle time). Based on the result of RSM, the optimum conditions were obtained with the use of desirability function approach (DFA) which find the best compromise area among multiple options. The optimum extraction conditions to maximize the yield and overall acceptability over 40% of yield were found with $163^{\circ}C$ of feed water temperature, 4.3 of DOF and 27 minutes of extraction time (cycle time). These results provide a basic data for the coffee extraction conditions for the competitive instant coffee in the industry.

The Characteristics of Middle School Mathematics Achievement Levels Based on the Results of the National Assessment of Educational Achievement from 2010 to 2012 (2010-2012년 국가수준 학업성취도 평가 결과에 나타난 중학교 수학과 성취수준별 학업성취 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the academic achievement characteristics in terms of proficiency levels through the in-depth analysis of mathematics test items and achievement standards of the National Assessment of Educational Achievement(NAEA) from 2010 to 2012, and to provide suggestions for teaching and assessing mathematics in middle schools. The results showed that 'Advanced level' students could fully understand the concept of mathematical terms and symbols as well as various mathematical properties presented in the national curriculum. However, 'Proficient level' students tended to feel difficult to apply linear function, properties of a plane figure, and a solid figure, while 'Basic level' students seemed to have trouble solving mathematical problems in almost all areas. Thus, it is necessary to identify the mathematical misconceptions that students have and to strengthen teaching, particularly, the areas of number and operation.

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 색채 기호와 인간의 성격에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 인간은 무의식적으로 색상에 반응하고 색상의 영향을 받는다. 이러한 색상이 우리에게 주는 효과나 파장은 매우 크다. 색상을 보면 기분이 좋아지거나 가라앉고, 또한 밝아지거나 좋아진다. 즉, 인간은 빛의 색 전달을 이해한다.

A Case Study on Making the Meaning of a Teacher and a Student in a Graph (그래프에서 교사와 학생의 의미 구성에 대한 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how a mathematics teacher and a high school student make the meaning in a graph and how aspects of the interpretation of a graph are interacted during the signification process, and to suggest considerations for teaching and learning of a graph. The findings of a case study have led to conclusions as follows: All of them have a difficulty in making the meaning in a graph and construct the meaning as a nested signification model. In the process which they make the meaning, they interrelate cognitive, contextual, and affective aspects and construct interpretants. In this process, a teacher focuses on cognitive aspect, based on a qualitative approach. But a student considers contextual aspect more, based on a quantitative approach. This study suggests three considerations for teaching and learning of a graph.

Teaching Geometry Proof with focus on the Analysis (분석법을 중심으로 한 기하 증명 지도에 대한 연구)

  • In the study, I conducted the teaching experiment designed to instruct proof to four 7th grade students by utilizing the analysis method. As the results of this study I could identified that it is effective to teach and learn to find proof methods using the analysis. The results of the study showed that four 7th grade students succeeded in finding the proof methods by utilizing the analysis and representing the proof after 15 hours of the teaching experiment. In addition to the difficulties that students faced in learning proof utilizing the analysis were related to the search for the light conditions for triangles to be congruent, symbolic representation of the proof methods, reinterpretation of drawings given in the proof problems.
