A Study on the FTA Analysis of Blasting Accidents (FTA기법을 이용한 발파사고 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The industrial explosives in Korea have been made and used since 1952. The blasting accidents have increased gradually with the use of explosives. Based on the Police Department and Guns & Explosives Safety Technology Association's researching materials, the blasting accidents between 1988 and 1997 have been investigated and analyzed in this paper. FTA method was applied for the analysis of the blasting accidents which occurred in the tunnels, roads, subways, and various kinds of building construction area. The results show that the majority of the accidents, about 45.7% of the total, are due to the fly rocks. It is similar trend in Japan. The FTA analysis performed on the accidents by fly rocks shows that the major source of the accident is human factors such as non-observance of the safety rules, less knowledge of the safety and so on. The results of the study ate expected to provide basic data for making and observing the safety rules, making and amending the laws concerned and planning the security project. It will be helpful in preventing the blasting accidents and in reducing the loss of valuable lives and the financial damage.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze current status and propose improvement scheme of safety management on the heavy construction equipment operation. The research method invloves interview and questionnaire survey for the analysis of practical use status of heavy construction equipment. The results of this study are as fallows: 1) The problem of safety management status on heavy construction equipment operation is surveyed not wearing safety helmet, not keeping work regulations, and not preparing the work before start. 2) Proposed improvement scheme of safety management on heavy construction equipment operation includes strengthening 5 minutes safety education before start, strengthening safety action against falling materials, and strengthening enough preparation before start.

A Study on the Effects of Fin Length on Natural Convection Heat Transfer from a Inclined Flat Plate (경사평판에서의 핀길이가 자연대류 열전달에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study has been conducted experimentally on the effects of natural convection heat transfer characteristics for inclined flat plate with vertical fin in air. The effects of various fin length, flat plate inclined angle and Grashof number are mainly investigated The experimented results are as follows: The mean heat transfer coefficient increase according to the decrease of H/S in the various fin lengh. The mean heat transfer coefficient at H/S-0.5, 1.0, 1.5 for Gr=2.11$\times$103. $\theta$=00 increase by 107%, 43%, 15% than H/S=2.0. The mean heat transfer coefficient decrease with the increase of $\theta$ the inclined angles. The mean heat transfer coefficient at Gr=2.97$\times$103 is constant, at $\theta$= 00 for H/S=0.5 decrease by 33% than $\theta$=90$^{\circ}$. The mean heat transfer coefficient increase as Grashof as Grashof number increase. The mean heat transfer coefficient at Gr=2.31$\times$103, Gr=2.61$\times$103, Gr=2.97$\times$103 for H/S=1.0, $\theta$=0$^{\circ}$increase by 9%, 16%, 28% than Gr=2.11$\times$103.

A Proposal of Guidelines for Developing the Mobile Application of Infection Controls for the Elderly -Focused on the Aspects of the Universal Design (노인 감염관리를 위한 모바일 어플리케이션 개발의 가이드라인 -유니버셜 디자인(Universial Design) 관점에서)

  • The worldwide population is aging rapidly. In this circumstance, Korean society is in need of the urgent comprehensive countermeasures that will help the elderly with their health problems and infection control in their daily life. Universal design has supportive, adaptable, accessible and safety-oriental design standards for the elderly. Is this study, we propose the guidelines of the mobile application development based on the application of the universal design for infection control in the elderly. From the perspective of the universal design, there are several important guidelines including 'generalized access', 'simple and intuitive usage', 'low physical effort', and 'visualized language' based on the KCDC(Korea centers for disease control and prevention) principles for the elderly. These findings show that the guidelines for improving the health literacy of the mobile application via universal design are necessary to enhance the health behavior of infection control for the elderly.

Analysis of Perceptions on Safety and Health Training and Measures to Improve the Training (안전보건교육에 대한 인식 분석 및 개선 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest measures to improve safety and health training by analyzing trainees who participated in the training programs. A survey was administered to 226 trainees who participated in and completed the safety and health training programs provided by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. The study results showed that the level of satisfaction of employers for the training programs was the lowest compared to the middle managers and employees. Moreover, the middle managers' job competencies were increased, and they applied newly acquired knowledge and skills to their jobs. However, there were significant differences between industries. Finally, although all levels of trainee agreed on the effectiveness of safety and health training, the perceptions of employers were lower than those of employees. Based on these study results, several implications to improve the safety and health training were suggested.

Effectiveness of the Electrode Arrays for Delineating 2-D Subsurface Structure (2차원 지하구조 규명을 위한 전극배열의 효율성)

  • The effectiveness of various electrode configurations in horizontal mappings and 1-D inversions of vertical sounding data for delineating 2-D structures was studied. Apparent resistivity values of three point, dipole-dipole, Wenner, and Schlumberger mappings were simulated for such structures as vertical dyke, tabular prism, buried vertical fault, ramp and complex structure by finite difference method (FDM) and they were compared with each other. Also 2-D cross sections for three structures obtained by interpolation of 1-D inverted sounding data in terms of three layers were compared for Schlumberger and Wenner arrays. On these cross sections, horizontal and vertical resistivity interfaces of the 2-D structures are revealed relatively clearly. Apparent resistivity curves of Schlumberger mapping show vertical resistivity discontinuities very well. On the whole, Schlumberger array is superior to the other arrays in electric sounding as well as mapping. This study clearly indicates that interpretations of 2-D structures based on 1-D inversion are possible.

  • Developing future weapons systems has become increasingly complicated and costly. There, modeling and simulation techniques have been highly interested in developing the defense systems. Modeling and simulation techniques provide a means to simulate military training, strategies, military doctrines, and weapons acquisition. In this paper, we proposed a small scale engagement scenario generation method for engagement M&S model. Generated scenario is one of critical factors in the field of commander training, operational analysis, and tactical evaluation. The objective of this paper is to develop a scenario generation method for small scale engagement using the FSA(Finite State Automata) and DFS(Depth First Search) algorithm. The proposed method is verified using a one-on-one combat engagement scenario between assault ship and reconnaissance ship. Also, we are visualized using Delta3D$^{TM}$.

A New Natural Convection Heat Transfer Correlation for Laminar and Turbulent Film Condensation Derived from a Statistical Analysis of Existing Models and Data (기존모델과 실험자료의 통계적 분석에 의해 유도한 층류 및 난류 막응축에 대한 새로운 자연대류 열전달 관계식)

  • A new semi-empirical average heat transfer correlation applicable for both laminar and turbulent film-wise condensation on a vertical surface has been presented. Re functional form of the present correlation is based on the representative existing correlations for laminar and turbulent film flows, whereas the numerical coefficients of the present correlation have been determined by the least squares method using experimental data obtained from the open literatures. In addition, the performance of the present as well as the seven existing correlations (four for laminar and three for turbulent film flow regimes) were evaluated for their accuracy and the range of application. The result shows that for laminar film filow regimes Zazuli's and the present correlations give the samllest values of mean error, whereas for turbulent film How regimes Kirkbride and Badger's and the present correlations produce the smallest values of mean error.

Health Promotion Practice, Standards and Activities Of Local Health Departments In the United States (미국 지방 보건소의 보건증진 사업과 표준 설정)

  • 21C기를 맞이하면서 미국의 보건소가 당면한 과제는 시민들을 상해질병에서 보호하고 예방하는 것이다. 금세기 초 남녀 평균수명은 50세에 불과하였으나 후반에 이르러서는 남자 평균 수명 72세, 여자 79세로 늘어나게 되었는데 이것은 공중보건의 기여라고 볼 수 있다. 지난 10년 동안 미국의 보건의료정책은 격변기를 맞았으며 지역사회 병원들은 점차 보건소 활동분야인 예방사업에도 침투하고 있어서 지방보건소 활동과 경쟁하게 되었다. 이로 인하여 지방보건소는 지역사회에서 보다 광범위한 보건증진계획을 세워야 했고 동반자의 참여를 절실해하고 있다. 미국 의학연구소는 "공중보건의 장래" 라는 지침서를 발간하였고 10대 필수보건수칙이 지방보건소를 위하여 정해졌다. 이를 수행하기 위해선 지방보건소가 갖추어야 할 사항은 1) 건강 평가 2) 정책수립 3) 행정력 4) 건강증진 계획 5) 시민건강 보호대책 6) 질적 확인 체재수립 7) 직원교육 훈련 8) 지역사회 자발력 및 참여 고취 등이 있다. 보건교육 사업이란 그 과제와 재능과 개념 등이 다양해 이의 포괄적인 수용이 모색되어야하며, 그래서 이 논문은 건강증진 사업에 대한 "새 눈의 시야"와 같다고 볼 수 있다. "보건교육/보건증진" 이란 공중보건의 이론과 실제를 일체화하는데 있다고 볼 수 있다. 미국은 2010년 보건의료 정책수립에 "건강증진/ 보건교육" 역할을 문서화하였고, "보건교육/ 건강증진" 사업은 지역사회 안에서 체계화하여 "건강한 사회에 건강한 시민" 이라는 사회운동의 청사진으로 이어지고 있다. 이 논문은 콜로라도의 "건강한 사회에 건강한시민" 운동을 한 예로 들고 있으며 "보건교육/건강증진" 사업에 대한 표준 설정을 위하여 노스캐롤라이나주 지방보건소의 "보건교육/건강증진" 표준체제를 예로 들었다. 다음으로, 경제적인 효율면에서 볼 때 "보건교육/건강증진" 사업에는 단기 혹은 장기 투자가치가 있는가 하는 것이다. 새로 태어나는 미국 지방 보건소의 "보건교육/건강증진" 활동은 지역 시민 및 그 단체가 광범위하고도 자연 다발적으로 참여할 때만 성공할 수 있다고 결론 지울 수 있다.

Effects of Self-efficacy Beliefs on Industrial Accidents Associated with Manufacturing Companies (안전효능감과 산업재해의 관계에 대한 분석 -제조업을 중심으로-)

  • 본 논문에서는 자기효능감(Self-efficacy belief)과 산업재해의 관계에 대한 분석을 수행하였다. 먼저 연구의 예비 단계에서는 크게 세 그룹 즉, 현장의 작업자, 현장 및 안전관련 자문업체에 근무하는 안전 관리자, 그리고 산업안전에 관계되는 정부기관 종사자 등을 대상으로 집중면접(Focus group interview)을 실시하였고, 이 집중면접의 결과를 근거로 하여 연구의 본 단계에서 적용될 설문지를 개발하였다. 본 설문지는 산업안전, 산업안전교육프로그램의 평가, 산업안전교육을 향상시키기 위한 방법, 자기만족, 스트레스, 산업재해율, 그리고 인구사회학적요인관련 정보 등과 관련되는 효능감을 평가 하도록 설계되었고, 총 917명(현장작업자: 542명, 안전 관리자: 210명, 정부기관종사자: 165명)에게 설문조사를 시행하였다. 주요 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 작업자 그룹의 경우에 안전관련 효능감과 관련한 세 가지 요인(자기관리, 사회적 지원, 환경관리)은 해당 회사의 산업재해율과 부(negative)의 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 안전효능감이 높은 현장 작업자는 낮은 현장작업자들과 비교하여 안전관련 수칙을 더 잘 지키고, 자기 인생에 대한 만족도가 더 높으며, 스트레스의 정도가 더 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 안전관리자의 경우에 안전효능감은 안전교육 프로그램의 효율성과 정(positive)의 상관관계를 그리고 해당회사의 산업재해율과는 부(negative)의 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 정부기관 종사자의 경우에는 경력이 길고 높은 지위에 있을수록 산업안전관리관련 안전효능감이 높은 것으로 나타났다.
