  • The development of EDI is playing a very great role in strengthening corporate competitiveness in the foreign market in addition to the expansion of the size of trade volumes between nations and the solution of the problem or streamlining procedures for trade as well as the smooth processing of trade business and cost and time savings effects. At point in time that corporate credibility and national image in Korea have greatly fallen in the IMF-supported regime, Korea is making every effort to restore its national credibility through the expansion of exports and focusing on the increase of exports through EDI for trade as part of this. Therefore. this study was intended to probe the EDI promotion strategy of the exporting firm with the development of EDI As a result, the following conslusion was drawn : (1) Development of the EDI system to provide immediate options. (2) Making the staff information - minded at a company-wide level. (3) Development of the website as the tool of the marketing strategy. (4) Construction of the Cyber Shopping Mall.

The Effect of External Knowledge Search on Innovation Speed: Focusing on the Moderation Effect of Export Performance (외부지식탐색이 혁신속도에 미치는 영향: 수출성과의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This study suggests external knowledge search as a way of creating knowledge and efforts for reaching out to the innovation and examines the relationship between innovation speed and the breadth and depth of external knowledge search. As a part of efforts to overcome the limitations of the routines of external knowledge search in the domestic market, the efforts of a firm to enter the foreign market have been examined with a moderate effect. Although previous research focused on exploration of external knowledge that is mostly effected in single country or similar industry, this study expands it by introducing the concept of market expansion and empirically inspect the interaction effect. 818 valid samples used in this study are based on the innovation survey published by STEPI and empirical results are as follows. First, the breadth and depth of external knowledge search have a positive impact on innovation speed. Second, export performance as the effect of expanding the market has a moderating effect on the speed of innovation. Third, younger companies prefer various networks while older companies prefer depth networks in order to increase the speed.

  • This study proposed a real and strategical business model from a supply chain perspective to heighten the competitiveness of agri-food export to promote export agriculture of Korea. The proposed export logistics business model can efficiently integrate and manage supply chain members in the agri-food export logistics center. The export logistics center is an integrated model to increase agri-food export which consists of product mixture that simultaneously distributes large companies' processed food and small companies' agri-food, a material and process system of export logistics, opening up foreign markets, and access to target markets on the basis of efficient agri-food export such as the construction of an export logistics system, finding overseas markets, and the launch and development of strategic goods for export.

An Empirical Study on the Characteristics of Korean B2C Exporters (우리나라 온라인 수출기업의 특성에 관한 실증연구)

  • As global online business expands, direct overseas sales, where company directly sells products to foreign consumers, has become a new trend. The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of B2C Korean online exporters. This study analyzes export companies, 45,267 doing offline business and 205 online, and the two findings drawn from the study are as follows: First, B2C online exporters shipped 4-5 times more products to 10-13 times more countries than offline exporters. It also showed higher rate of export persistency. Second, from using gravity model analysis, it was found that export through online sales removes distance barrier by 60% more than offline. In addition, Free Trade Agreement appears to help boost online overseas sales. This study has significance in that it is the first analysis on B2C online export using actual proof, and it can be differentiated by other researches in terms of identifying the traits of Korean online export.
